Walker raced across the Ghost Zone, and he was infuriated by the new development. He went to his office and utterly trashed it in rage.
He then threw himself on the floor and hissed, "All that work. All this time, I thought Azirel would give me his blessing because I keep order around here. It's just not fair! I did right by God's command! I did everything right! My good work should have gotten me that halo! I'm the most faithful ghost of all, and he chose to bless that Halfa?! It's just not fair!"
He started sobbing. Suddenly, his door burst open, and in slithered a being Walker didn't quite recognize. It looked to be an extremely long snake with the mouth of a crocodile and the claws of a bear. The being came to Walker's side and wrapped itself around the pasty ghost.
The being cooed, "Aw, what happened, Walker?"
Walker sniffled, "My Lord has forsaken me, I fear."
The being said, "That's such a shame. You shouldn't have to put up with that. I know! You should get back at God."
Walker asked, "Wait, who are you? And why should I listen to you?"
The being cooed, "I'm the Void. I'm your best ally, Walker."
The Void used his eyes to mesmerize Walker.
Walker repeated rather mindlessly, "You're my best ally."
"You are in charge of your destiny now," The Void said.
Walker repeated, "I'm in charge of my destiny now."
The Void stopped mesmerizing Walker and said, "I will give you the power to turn all these horrid creatures into pure Ghost Goo, so you alone will be blessed. Is that something you want?"
Walker mulled it over and said, "Yeah, I think I do. That way, I alone will have absolute domination of the Ghost Zone. I must destroy Danny Phantom."
The Void laughed in a twisted way as he let Walker go from his body, but there was a chain right on his heart. Walker dried his tears, and a chuckle came into his throat, which built up into a laugh!
Danny woke up in his bed, back to his human form, the rosary back around his neck. He got up, got ready for the day, and left his dorm. As he walked across the campus, Danny noticed a crow flying nearby.
Danny smiled and asked quietly, "Where are you going, Azirel?"
Danny came to where Azirel landed and saw it was by a bookstore. They gave Danny a shiny gold coin.
Danny chuckled, "Thanks; I think I get what you want me to do."
Danny went into the bookstore and saw a sweet old lady at the counter reading a book.
Danny came to the lady and said, "Hey, um, I think I have something of yours."
Danny put the gold coin on the counter, and the old lady picked it up and adjusted her glasses. She gasped, "Why, I haven't seen a Cross Coin like this since the Satanic Panic in the 80's! Wait here, I have just the book you're looking for."
The old lady hobbled over to the dustiest self in the whole store, where one lone book lay. The old lady took the book down, pulled it out of the cobwebs, and blew off the dust. Danny coughed a bit. The lady gave Danny the book after he managed to catch his breath. He saw that the 'Holy Bible' was engraved into the leather with gold lettering.
Danny said, "Uh, thanks."
Danny left the store and took the book to a park. He noticed that a piece of paper had bookmarked it. He opened the Bible to the bookmark, and it was in the book of John. The paper was advertising some place called the Big Bible Chapel Church of Fellowship and Worship. It was pretty old, but Danny recognized the address. It wasn't too far from here, actually, just on the corner of Mercy St and Healing Ave. He went there later that night and was saddened to see it was abandoned entirely.
There were chains on the door with padlocks and a big sign on the front that read, 'No Trespassers.'
Danny sighed, "Well, I came all this way. I might as well break a few rules."
Danny Fenton transformed into Danny Phantom with a halo and phased into the empty church. Danny was taken aback when he saw that Ariel was tending to the church! Ariel was in his angel form as he greeted Danny.
Ariel said, "Welcome to the Big Bible Chapel Church of Fellowship and Worship! It was abandoned by humans but not by the angels. Come, the sanctuary awaits."
Danny followed Azirel to a stage with a cross on it and pews surrounding it. Azirel brought Danny up to the stage.
Azirel said, "Show me some of the things that you've learned on your own."
Danny said, "Okay!"
Danny flew up and disappeared from view. He reappeared, phasing through the pews. Danny then blasted the ground with ectoplasmic energy. He picked up a little worship book and froze it with his breath. He made multiple versions of himself and then reabsorbed them into himself. Azirel plugged his ears as Danny took a deep breath before blasting a Gastly Wail! He stopped, Azirel unplugged their ears, and Danny collapsed onto the stage with a smile.
Danny said rather tiredly, "Tada!"
Azirel chuckled, "I can see you've come very far in controlling your ghostly power. But, there is still one more power that you need to learn to use."
Danny asked, "What's that?"
Azirel helped Danny up to his feet and hugged him with his black wings. Danny felt his energy rejuvenated by Azirel's warm embrace.
Azirel answered, "You can heal yourself."
Danny asked, "But how?"
Azirel let Danny go and answered, "All you need to do is to sleep as your ghost half."
Danny asked, "Are you sure that's safe?"
Azirel said, "Trust me, your ghostly form will heal any wounds you sustain!"
Danny said, "Good!"
Suddenly, a large explosion outside rocked the Big Bible Chapel Church of Fellowship and Worship. Danny snapped into action. He flew up and out to see Walker with a crazed look in his eyes. There was a purple inferno licked the grass outside the property line.
Walker shouted, "Surprise, Phantom! It's time to pay your debt to the Ghost Zones!"
Danny shouted back, "In your Dreams, Walker!"
He charged at him with fists full of plasma. Azirel came outside and sat on a chair to watch the two duel for a while. Danny used the Fenton Thermos to trap Walker. Azirel was intrigued and a bit saddened.
Danny, now covered in injuries, asked, "Hey, how come Walker couldn't burn the church?"
Azirel replied, "I'm afraid Walker has fallen prey to the Void, and his magic is now demonic. Fortunately, churches are still holy ground."
Danny asked, "But?"
Azirel pressed, "But what?"
Danny landed on the ground in front of Azirel and eleborated, "Aren't you going to say something like 'The Void is too powerful to be bound to such barriers', 'Walkers powers will grow too powerful for us to be able to fight back against' or 'The Church can only stand if there is a cross inside.' There's always a catch!"
Azirel chuckled and said, "You're used to that aren't you? Come back inside, I have much to teach you about trust in our Lord."
Danny followed Azirel inside and sat on a pew. Azirel stood behind a little podium and cleared his throat.
Azirel said, wings aloft, "Now take heed, my congregation! The Lord never gives us trials we cannot handle! The Lord never tempts us with our deepest desires to be fulfilled instantly! The Lord will never forsake you! The Lord will never forget his promises or you his children! You are fearfully and wonderfully made! Can I get an amen?"
Danny said, "Amen!"
Azirel continued his sermon, "The Lord made the whole first universe by simply speaking it into being! His power is unmatched! The Lord is strong enough to move mountains! He is strong enough to hold back even the devil himself! Can I get a Hallelujah?"
Danny said, "Hallelujah!"
Azirel drummed on the podium in excitement and said, "Put your trust in the Lord! He will not fail to make himself known!"
Azirel then flew up an began to sing, "Praise our holy God! For it is with his power we are blessed! Praise our Almighty Father! For it is his grace that gives us our gift of life! Praise the Lord! For we are alive! Hallelujah!"
Danny clapped and said, "Hallelujah!"
Azirel then landed and sat down next to Danny. He gently hugged him with his wings.
Azirel said, "You know, you're not the first among the Nickelodeon Toons I had to comfort."
Danny pressed, "Oh?"
Azirel explained, "Long ago, when this universe was first crafted, there was a primordial slime named Grenvengo. They were hiding in a cave and the Lord set me of all the angels to see why.
When I went to them, they were besides themselves in sobbing. Piles of slime were everywhere and above the being was the blueprints of life and creatures. I didn't know why they were so upset. Then I spoke to them, and as it turns out, they were upset their own creatures couldn't look like how the Infinite One designed them. They seemed ashamed to even be alive, disgusted by their own existence. So, I had to do what I could to reassure them they were worth so much more in the eyes of the Lord. I took a bit of their slime and a feather from my wings and mixed them. Thus began the Ghost Zone. I told Grenvengo to embrace all their babies, as the ones that matter will embrace them back eagerly. Slime and all."
He let Danny go and asked, "Do you understand why I tell you this?"
Danny thought for a moment and replied, "Not really."
Azirel said, "If The Lord is willing to send me just to comfort Grenvengo. How much more so do you think he wants to see your kind thrive when he asks me to mentor you?"
Danny said, "Ah, I see."
The Fenton Thermos shook a bit, and Danny quickly scooped it up. He flew it to the laboratory in the college that just so happened to have a Fenton Ghost Dispensary. Banishing Walker back to the Ghost Zone.
Danny stifled a yawn and went home to his dorm, depowered and collapsed onto his bed.
Walker went to his prison and sighed in frustration.
A guard asked, "Phantom still giving you trouble, boss?"
Walker snapped, "Of course I am!"
The guard said, "Well, maybe you don't have to."
Walker asked, "What do you mean?"
The gaurd explained, "Well, we have a prison full of ghosts willing to do Anything for freedom."
Walker gave it some thought.
