Chapter 8 Like Sister and Brother
The next day, after Marietta recommended to Geppetto that he shouldn't be sending Pinocchio to school the next day, she decided that she would spend some time with Pinocchio and get to know him before he would be sent to school.
Geppetto was just a little too excited when Pinocchio was brought to life and couldn't wait to have the real boy he promised him. But of course, Pinocchio was still very new to the world and it wouldn't make much sense for Geppetto to send him to school the next day since he didn't even know what school was!
Because of that, Marietta would help teach him a little more about the world around him and while she did want him to learn some things at school, she at least wanted him to learn the basics, such as knowing who his father was and what some of the things in Geppetto's shop were.
It was kind of early in the morning when Pinocchio finally woke up again and after getting a good night's rest, Geppetto decided to make him and Marietta breakfast, and despite being made of wood, Pinocchio could somehow taste and eat food like a normal boy could!
It surprised both Geppetto and Marietta and even Jiminy Cricket, who was still unknown to Geppetto but watched from a distance whatever Marietta would try to teach Pinocchio and the new things he experienced.
After they were done eating, Geppetto went back to make clocks and toys the rest of the day, and while Marietta really wanted to help him, she knew spending time with Pinocchio would be a better choice since she had to set him up to become a real boy as well.
Jiminy Cricket was always there to help her of course, but Marietta was the one who was chosen to be his older sister figure and she wanted to do it best as possible while also working on her own dreams of becoming a famous singer.
She also needed to follow the Blue Fairy's riddle on finding her father, but Marietta needed to let all those things go for now, as she needed to be Pinocchio's older sister, even if she was his cousin technically.
It felt kind of weird since Marietta was truly Pinocchio's older cousin and especially now that she knew her father was alive somewhere, it made it even more weird the Blue Fairy wanted her to be his older sister rather than his cousin.
But she probably wanted that since Pinocchio would understand who Marietta was a little bit more if she were his sister and it also made it easier for Marietta since she called her uncle her father.
Marietta always wanted a younger sibling and now that the Blue Fairy wanted Pinocchio to be her's, it felt like a dream come true and even if he was her cousin, she could still treat him like a younger sibling.
After Marietta taught Pinocchio about some things in Geppetto's workshop, such as the clocks, toys, music boxes, figurines, and even Figaro and Cleo, Pinocchio started to wonder who Marietta was herself and if he was related to her in any way.
"Hey, Marietta?" Pinocchio asked as he sat on top of the table.
"Yes, Pinocchio?" she asked with a wide smile.
"Are you actually my older sister?" he asked.
Marietta just smiled at him.
"Well, technically I guess. Your father Geppetto and I are related and since the Blue Fairy wanted me to be your older sister figure, then I guess I'm your older sister." Marietta told him.
"Oh, so what does that make me?" Pinocchio asked with a smile.
"Well, if I'm your sister, you're my brother," Marietta said as she pointed to herself and then Pinocchio.
"And if I'm your brother, you're my sister?" Pinocchio asked as he pointed to himself and then Marietta.
"Right, Pinocchio!" Marietta said as she backed away from the table a bit and began to sing:
I'm like your sister,
And you're like my brother,
And no matter where we go we'll have each other,
Now you're like my brother,
Marietta pointed to Pinocchio.
And I'm like your sister,
She then pointed to herself.
And no matter where we go, I'll be right beside you,
Pinocchio smiled at her.
Marietta: Now I'm like your sister,
And you're like my brother,
And wherever we will go we'll have each other,
Pinocchio: Have each other!
Marietta: Now I'm like your sister,
Marietta pointed to herself.
Pinocchio: You're my sister!
Marietta: And you're my brother
Pinocchio: I'm your brother!
Both: And no matter where we go, I'll be right beside you!
Marietta: Now no matter where we'll go,
I'll never leave you behind,
And if I don't see you,
Then I'll be missing the signs,
'Cause nothing will ever make me leave you little brother,
Cause when we are together,
We'll always have each other,
Marietta danced around the room with Pinocchio.
Marietta: Now I'm like your sister
Pinocchio: And I'm your brother,
Both: And wherever we will go we'll have each other
Marietta: Now I'm your sister,
Pinocchio: And I'll be your brother,
Both: And no matter where you go I'll be right beside you!
"Yay Pinocchio, you did it! You're my little brother!" Marietta cheered as she hugged her little puppet brother.
"And you're my big sister!" Pinocchio said as he hugged back his big sister Marietta.
Marietta was very happy Pinocchio now understood what she was to him, an older sister figure, and now the two of them could have a close relationship while also trying to help each other fulfill their wishes, to become a real boy and singer.
After Marietta sang her song to help get Pinocchio to understand who she was to him, the rest of the day was all about Marietta and Pinocchio playing together while also being around Geppetto.
Pinocchio was a very special boy to Geppetto, as he was made of wood and could be used for a lot of things.
Geppetto could use his feet to clean the floors and Pinocchio enjoyed it while Marietta smiled in enjoyment. Pinocchio, Geppetto, and Marietta also played ball that day and while playing ball inside the house was never a good idea, Geppetto and Marietta never saw anything wrong with it, or that was until Pinocchio actually threw the ball and made it go through the window!
However, it wasn't a big deal and Geppetto was able to repair it in a short amount of time.
Geppetto also let Pinocchio help make a couple clocks with him and while it was mainly his and Marietta's thing, she was okay with letting Pinocchio join in on it and was starting to get less offended by all the attention she was getting.
Pinocchio was a new kid just brought to life a day ago, and Marietta didn't blame Geppetto for being so into him and she was still loved by him anyway.
The only thing that bothered Marietta was her still not overcoming her shyness, as she would have to overcome it in order to become a singer and still didn't understand the riddle on how to find her father. But she figured she would find him eventually, even if she didn't really understand the riddle.
After a long day of play, work, and learning, Geppetto, Marietta, and Pinocchio all started to get ready for bed along with Figaro and Cleo, who both got into their sleeping positions while Jiminy got in his matchbox.
Pinocchio still slept next to Geppetto in his bed and Marietta slept in her own bed while waiting for her little brother to fall asleep.
"Now, close your eyes and go to sleep," Geppetto told Pinocchio as he began to fall asleep himself.
"Why?" Pinocchio asked, just like how he did the other night.
"Well, like I said before Pinocchio, everybody has to go to sleep, just like you did last night," Geppetto told him as he touched him on the nose.
"Exactly little brother. Now close your eyes and go to sleep!" Marietta told him as she turned back around to fall asleep.
"Yes, like Marietta said, and tomorrow, I believe it's time you and Marietta go to school," Geppetto said, making Pinocchio excited.
"Oh, really, father? Really?" he asked as Geppetto nodded his head.
"Si, Marietta has taught you enough and you will learn even more tomorrow when you get to school," Geppetto said as he tried to lay back down.
"Why?" Pinocchio asked with wide eyes.
"Oh, to get smart and learn," Geppetto said as he tried to close his eyes again.
"Why?" Pinocchio asked as Geppetto woke up, this time making Figaro upset as he tried to fall asleep as well.
"Because, Marietta goes to school and so should you." Geppetto said as Marietta turned around and smiled at the old man and boy.
"Oh, okay." Pinocchio said as he began to close his eyes and go to sleep, waiting for the next day where he and Marietta would start their marry adventures on their way to school.
Author's Note: The song "Sister like Brother" is a song a I wrote myself!
So the song Marietta and Pinocchio sing in this chapter is actually a song I wrote myself called "Sister like Brother" and I'm not exactlly sure what tune it would have since I wrote this story a while ago, but I hope you still enjoy it anyway. Also the scene where Pinocchio, Geppetto, and Marietta play ball in the house is inspried by the 2022 live action remake (I actually liked that movie believe it or not, but do think it did have its flaws) Please Review!
