*Side Note: this chapter will answer specific questions you have been asking in reviews and PM's. As to what will happen in the end, I still have no definitive answer, as the characters draft their own stories, and I am just the conduit. *
This chapter might be a bit confusing; it's meant to show a moment-by-moment scenes for each group simultaneously.
Chapter 31
~Beginning of June~
Billy held a conference with Jacob and Sam, as they talked about everything they needed to do to save their territory, to do the job appointed to them by their ancestors. Billy had been in contact with Carlisle Cullen, they had a treaty with their family. They were duty bound to help them defend the territory from other vampires that would intrude and try to invade their terrain.
"Have they asked for your help?" Billy asked. "You must at least meet with them. Pick common ground and just listen to what it is they have to say, we are honor bound to do so. They would come to our aid; Carlisle would hold them to it."
Sam and Jacob looked at each other, "why are you including the both of us, Sam is the Alpha."
"Actually,' Sam said, "that is not true. You are the true alpha, but you declined the position and asked me to be alpha in your stead, so until you are ready to assume your true position, perhaps you can still weigh in on the decision making."
…
Meanwhile at the Cullen's house:
"We must ask the wolves for help," Carlisle said to his family as they sat around the living room table.
"Yes," Rosalie said, "I'm sure they would agree to help since the alpha's mate is Jacob's mate's cousin."
"Leave it to Rosalie to get straight to the point," Jasper said with a smile, giving a fist bump to Emmet in congratulations.
Carlisle rolled his eyes at their antics and continued, "Which is why I am sure all we need do is ask for a meeting."
"So, we know that Victoria is coming, and that she has been creating new vampires. The Volturi have declared that they will not interfere, Aro believes that Carlisle can manage it." Alice said with a wispy voice, "he also knows of our treaty with the Wolves, he vows not to interfere for our allies are his."
"Really?" Jasper said in awe, "I would not have thought of Aro in being that kind without a reason to be?"
Alice smiled at Jasper, "it seems he can be when he wants to be.
"Bella," Carlsie said causing her to jump, "what are your thoughts."
Bella was not sure what to say, this was his first time addressing her. Clearing her voice she spoke, "the wolves will agree to help if you ask for it."
"Is that a fact?" Emmet asked, just tuning into the conversation and it was the only thing that he could think to say. Rosalie was playing with his hand, and he found he couldn't concentrate.
"Yes," Alice said in confirmation, "she just received a text from Jacob, and I just saw it as well."
"Let's get everyone together, perhaps the field where we play baseball would be best." Carlisle said, "Bella, you call and find out when they can meet us, and we can train together."
Doing as asked, she dialed Jacob's number and played go-between.
…
At the same time, Luna and Hermione were at the bookstore, taking advantage of the quiet. It was one of the days she kept the store closed; but the new books she just ordered were in and she was excited to get started on sorting them and getting them on the shelves.
Hermione showed Luna in and to her surprise Crookshanks followed them. Smiling, she decided to let him stay; he seemed the bright sort.
As they were sorting through the books, something surprising happened. Hermione was in full stop as she watched what was happening, there he was, the figure of Sirius again, "Luna," Hermione said to her friend, "can you see what I see?"
When Luna looked up, she was surprised to see a figure of Sirius standing before her, "yes I do," Luna said in response.
Luna watched as this memory projection was her memory of Sirius in Grimuald Place, he was looking at Hermione, he was speaking to her, and while Hermione had never been able to hear his voice before she had this time. his voice came out in a silent whisper, barely audible.
Remember, you must remember.
"What must I remember?" Hermione frantically asked the ghost "please you must tell me, I cannot stand not knowing any longer. Please I need to know what I forgot!"
There is an easier way to sort books princess, do you not remember the spell I showed you? he walked over to the pile of books that were wispy like he was, and he pulled out a stick and pointed it at the stack of books and chanted some words and the books rearranged in whatever way he wanted them.
Hermione clutched at her head as it began to pound. A scream tore from her mouth as she arched her back. This caused her to lose her balance and fall to the floor with a thud. Memory upon memory flashed before her eyes, Luna looked on in concern, she was not sure what to do.
Hermione closed her eyes and tried to relax against the pain, her body was racked with shocks and spasms. She could not stop the tears, she remembered, she remembered what happened. she cried, she had lost so much, and she never even knew it happened.
Flashback:
Hermione had gotten separated from Harry and Ron during the fight at Hogwarts. it was near the end of the battle, right before Harry confronted Tom and finished it for good. She found herself cornered by none other than Bellatrix, or who she had thought was Bellatrix. However, she distinctly remembered Molly Weasley killing Bellatrix. "You think you have won; you are nothing but filth, a blight on the wizarding world. It is because of your kind that we were in danger of war in the first place. I will not allow you the satisfaction. You will never remember or be able to hold your wand again. And even if you think you have remembered, you will never remember. You will be cursed forever to follow your memories' fantoms to your last breath." Then a light flashed at her, and the next thing she remembered was waking up not knowing where or who she was.
End Flashback:
When Hermione opened her eyes again, Sirius was gone, and only Luna and Crookshanks remained. Crookshanks held her wand in his mouth, and as she approached to pet him, he dropped her wand on the table in front of her. She stood cautiously and turned around, looking to see where she was. She saw Luna standing there watching, and she looked concerned.
"It's ok Luna," Hermione said with a smile, "I remember now." As Luna advanced to give her a hug, Hermione raised her hand to stop her, "before we celebrate, I need to tell my family that I remember, and I need to tell Jacob, then you can call Harry, but only after this thing with the vampire army is taken care of. Officially we cannot interfere, however I can tell my family that they no longer need be worried. And Alice, you better not spill my news till I have had time to tell everyone myself."
…
Jacob answered the phone as soon as it rang, he had been hoping that Hermione would call. "Where are you?" she asked without so much as a hello.
"I am at home, why what's up?" He asked, concerned.
"I need you to come over to the bookstore as soon as you can," Hermione said, "I have something to tell you. do not worry it's not anything bad, it's just important."
"I will be there as soon as I can," Jacob said before grabbing the keys and running out the door. It did not take him long to get to Hermione's bookstore; Hermione met him with a bear hug before was through the door. "Is everything ok, Hermione?"
"I remember," Hermione said into his neck, "I remember everything."
"Oh Hermione," he said squeezing her back tightly, "can you tell me about it."
"Well, I'm… I have magic," she said to him, "I am not really supposed to tell anyone, but I think you may be the exception to the rule. I mean if you still want me that is."
"Why wouldn't I want you?" Jacob asked with a smile, "I always knew there was something about you Hermione, you having magic won't change that. You have all of me."
She couldn't help herself. She put her hands on either side of his face and kissed him with so much passion, Luna felt it across the room. After which, she felt the need to give them some privacy, she stepped outside. She was so happy that Hermione remembered, and that she got to be the first to know.
…
With the Cullens
"I wonder what happened?" Bella asked before turning to Alice with a look, "what did you see?"
"I already told you, what I saw Bella," Alice replied sternly then she smirked as she saw Hermione scolding her if she told Bella before her. She continued speaking, "besides it's not my business to tell so stop prying or I will make you dress in heels for a month during our next wedding celebration."
Rosalie, Edward, and Emmet started laughing, though all for different reasons. Jasper just looked on in wonder and promised to take her to a secret place and worship her. Edward of course soured at this remark, while Alice preened under her mate's attention.
…
When Bella arrived home with Edward not far behind her, she saw that Hermione had Jacob at her side, Luna sat in the corner chair and her father sat on the couch. Hermione stood in the doorway, as Hermione wasn't quite sure how to break the news, she simply said, "I remember."
The cheers were deafening, and the hugs crushing, but it was happiness that drove them to it. Jacob stood at her side, her hand in his as everything unfolded.
