"Thank you for taking time away from your daughter for this." Nicholas squeezed Morgana's hand. "Take care of Sabrina in this new wild idea she's got, won't you?"

Morgana's eyes twinkled as she nodded. "I will, Master. All these years and I'm finally going to watch a performance."

"Come on, I took you to contests in Hoenn!" Nicholas complained. "Even snuck you in to that special one where it was only supposed to be me and Sabrina, remember? Oh, whatever. I trust you to keep an eye on that Zebstrika."

"You could have taken me as your plus one, Master. But you just had to force Quinn into that suit," Morgana laughed. "I know you are just so disappointed to miss this though, aren't you? Seeing Mistress Sabrina and Indra in so many different outfits, and perhaps seeing them in between those outfits over and over…?"

"I don't just go chasing every pokegirl that crosses my path," Nicholas growled. "Sure, Indra's got a great body, but so do all the rest of you. And I can marvel at my fiancé's anytime I want."

"It's okay, Master," Morgana teased as she reached over to pat him on the head. "I'll make sure to take lots of pictures."

"If I want porn I can just browse the internet!" Nicholas cried before letting out a massive sigh. "I really do hope she has fun with it. I'll wait to go to Roxie's gym until you tell me they're done with modeling for the day."

"Best of luck there, Master." Morgana inclined her head towards the watching harem. "And all of you, sisters. I wish you a great victory."

"Yeah, these girls don't need any luck!" Nicholas laughed. "Roxie's going DOWN! It's time for revenge, right Ada? Kiana?"

Kiana smirked. "That's right, Master. So much has changed since we were there last. Hasn't it, Beta?"

Adalinda took a deep breath. "It has. The Snivy then was too full of herself to be your Beta."

Nicholas chuckled along with the harem's laughter. Adalinda had been, back then. But now she had grown into herself. Kiana had recognized that. He had been proud to hear that she had chosen Adalinda to stand beside her, just as the two had from the very beginning. The Serperior would do well there.

It was funny, he thought as the group got on the road. So many tamers just made their first pokegirl their Alpha. He'd only followed the trend once, when he was as brand-new as he could be. Ever since, the first pokegirls of each region had only made it to Beta, at best. Would he ever find one who took to the role from the start? Even Dahlia had been hesitant. Maybe. But after Unova there was only one region left in the World League. Time had almost run out.

His musings drifted in a new direction when his eyes lingered on Fiona's hair, the legendary striding along far enough away to be her own entity but close enough to remain a part of the group. "You know, after everything, I don't remember if I pointed it out to you," he called. "Your hair, Fiona. All the talk of pledges and marks, where you stood compared to the other Swords… I can see it in your hair. The other three are with you, always. They are part of you, but you are greater than them all combined."

Fiona smiled without turning. "Of course they are, Lord Nicholas. Did you not see them? As your sword sank deep inside of me, they were there. Witnessing. Blessing."

"I… can't say I did," Nicholas admitted. "But that makes sense. It was their grove too."

"Aye."

"We go north as soon as we take Roxie's badge," Nicholas said to the harem as a whole. "Cobalion's appearance before we traveled back to Pokestar wasn't a coincidence. I don't know exactly what she was referring to, but things are in motion. The International Police are not having an easy time with Neo Plasma. Whatever it is they're up to, whatever it is in Fiona's visions, it's coming. Soon."

"Then there is little time to waste," Kiana growled. "You said we can be at this Virbank Gym within the day, Master?"

"That's about how long it took us last time. When we first ran into you."

"When you first found me." Kiana let her fangs pop out as she chuckled. "That's right. This is my turf. Then I should know the best paths through it, wouldn't you agree?"

"I suppose, but it's a pretty straight line from here to Virbank."

"And sometimes the best path is to be faster." Kiana raised her voice as she began barking orders. "I want Cindy in the trees! Ada supporting her! Melody, you and Jade on the road, Melody with Master, Jade in the air above! I will scout ahead!" A quick flash of flame when she huffed, eyes locked on the road ahead of them. "We do not slow for anything. GO!"

.

.

"There's a wide variety here to choose from," Nicholas was saying. "You're sure you don't want anything?"

Cindy twisted a length of her silk through her fingers with a chuckle. "I have… plans, my pet. Do not worry your pretty head over me."

"You're sure? I'll buy you anything you want."

Cindy's amused half-smile fell. "What I want is proper respect from my toy." She had to take an immediate step back when Nicholas rounded on her and shoved right into her face.

"This isn't the bedroom," he hissed under his breath. "Understand this, Cindy. In there, I have no issues allowing you control. But out here?" His eyes narrowed dangerously. "Out here, for you to take control would be to take my harem from me. It is mine. It will always be mine. And if you seriously think you can take it from me, I will make sure you find yourself right back in that cave." He pulled back slightly. "I understand. You are frustrated to lose that control. So take it from others, Cindy. I won't stop you. But not from me or any of mine. I will not allow that."

A number of emotions flickered behind Cindy's eyes before she finally let out a long hiss and jerked her head back. "You will not protect our enemies?"

"Of course not."

Cindy stared at him out of the corner of her eye. "Very well. Then we will discuss your place in greater detail at another time… Master."

Nicholas chuckled and watched her sweep off. "You'll learn," he muttered with a grin. "Yo, anybody else want anything?" he called to the others. "Yes? No? Then let's do some window shopping while we wait for Sabrina."

"Shouldn't we warm up with some training?" Adalinda asked as he began leading the harem through downtown Virbank. "Feels like a better use of our time."

"You're all warmed up from that breakneck rush from Pokestar," Nicholas replied distractedly. "Take a breath, relax. Keep loose."

Adalinda's eyebrow rose. "Are you looking for something, Nicholas? Why not just say so?"

"Oh, I'm just looking around," Nicholas replied. "Been too long since I let myself think about hobbies or anything."

"What hobbies?" Adalinda asked with a slight laugh. "Sex and science?"

"I have hobbies too!" Nicholas replied indignantly. "I used to love going fishing in Alola. Or hiking the interior. Or playing video games. That's how I first got into pokegirl battling, I'd spend all day on the sims."

"So what hobbies do you have now?" Adalinda asked, the Serperior still giving him a teasing grin. "All I've ever seen you do revolves around your harem. Or your mate."

"Yeah, well, that's my biggest hobby at the moment. Keeping all of you maniacs satisfied," Nicholas chuckled, lightly slapping Adalinda's tail affectionately. "Dunno. Still, a guy can look, can't he?"

"Depends what he's looking at," Melody called from nearby.

Nicholas laughed at her comment and quickly gestured around them. "Storefronts! I'm looking at storefronts!" He turned when the Seismitoad ambled up and threw an arm around her. "I'm sorry, by the way," he said quietly. "I haven't had the opportunity to truly celebrate your evolution with you yet."

Melody blinked. "I know I had to wait a few days, but you made it up to me, Nick. That wasn't what you'd consider good enough?"

"Oh I'd hope fucking you silly would be the norm, yeah," Nicholas replied, chuckling when Melody blushed and squeezing her stockier body. "I've had something very, very special planned for you," he murmured to her. "Make sure you do well today against Roxie, yeah? That way the others won't get jealous when I give it to you as your reward." He grinned and let go of the Seismitoad when she turned her wide eyes towards him. "All this talk of hobbies and window shopping… What kind of hobbies do you girls think you might like getting into? I know Ada might appreciate a small library of her own to experience as she assists me in research, but the rest of you? Kiana, Jade? Melody? I'd include Cindy but she's having a sulk right now." He snickered when he saw the Galvantula twitch in her position far ahead of them. "Melody and music, I know that much, right?'

Melody cleared her throat to compose herself. "Ehm, yes… I like to compose songs."

"Probably would like to make music too, wouldn't you?" Nicholas asked. "Stuff to go along with the words? I've seen a Seismitoad belting out a beat before, acting like an amplifier for a guitarist and she seemed like she was having the time of her life."

"…With her body?" Melody asked. "How could she…?"

"I mean it's all just sound waves, right?" Nicholas asked. "Same as your vibrations, same as song… All of it is just differently modulated noise."

"I… I guess so," Melody breathed. "I hadn't thought about it like that."

"You got anything, Jade?" Nicholas called. When the Golett only glanced at him he snickered. "You will, I promise you that. Even if I have to find you one. You need some way to express yourself. Kiana then? Thinking of anything you might like to pursue as a hobby?"

"Does loving my wonderful pack count?" Kiana asked, throwing her arms over Melody's shoulders and nuzzling the Seismitoad's cheek despite her protests. "I think it's the best hobby."

"Oh come on, there has to be something more," Nicholas laughed. "Something beyond your pack that you want."

"Something worth more than my pack to me?" Kiana asked, and Nicholas could see her looking at him out of the corner of her eye. The Arcanine's gaze was incredibly focused. "Well that would be you, Master. You and the Mistress. But I know you would say something beyond even you." She smiled, giving Melody's cheek a quick lick before letting go. "There's only one thing that could be. If you'll let me pursue this hobby."

"Of course I will. What is it?"

Kiana's eyes flicked about. "I would… greatly like it if," she muttered, scuffing her toe against the road, "when the day comes, and you and your mate have a child of your own… If you would allow me to watch over them, Master." Her eyes moved back to his. "To be their denmother. To… To protect them as I would have protected her."

Nicholas reached out to take Kiana's hand and give it a squeeze. "I would be honored, Kiana. But that day is many years off."

"Perhaps," Kiana murmured, squeezing back before giving him a lolling grin, "and perhaps not, Master."

"Well I'd be a fool to ignore pokegirl intuition," Nicholas chuckled. "Guess I need to up my preparations. But none of this talk when Sabrina gets here, alright? We humans move slow. You have to let it happen on its own time."

Kiana whined but her tail was wagging like crazy. "If you insist, Master."

"I do." He gave her a quick peck on the lips. "Come on. Let's spend some more time walking about and then head to the gym to wait for Sabrina."

.

.

"Nicholas! Hey!" Nicholas looked over to see Sabrina happily prancing towards them with her hand stretched high in the air. "Hi! I made it!"

Nicholas caught her and the two shared a kiss before he turned to the other figure accompanying the woman. "And Indra, I see. How did the shoot go?"

The Zebstrika flicked her hair back to give him a smile. "Well, sir. I appreciate Miss Sabrina's invitation to see your battle today."

"You're staying the night here in Virbank, right? Win or lose?" Sabrina asked him. "Oh, never mind that. I'll talk about plans after you and your girls win! You ready?"

Nicholas chuckled. "We are." He turned away from Sabrina and Indra, pushing their outfits from his mind. Seemed as if the two had come straight from the modeling event and he couldn't let that distract him. "Ada! What do you think? Planning on charging in first again this time?"

Adalinda snorted. "It's been a long time since that Snivy was here, Nick. She knows to follow your lead now."

Nicholas winked at her. "Just checking. I don't think you'll need to come in at all, actually. I seem to remember last time Roxie saying that she only ever uses three pokegirls. I doubt she'll let me use more than three this time either." He turned to the others. "Jade, Melody, one or both of you are coming for sure. It all depends on who Roxie wants to bring." He stroked his chin. "Melody. You're always going to be taking that stage with me. There are a few Grass-type Poison-types out there but I can't think of many that are both native to Unova and the kind of pokegirl who would do well in a three-on-three singles battle. I've heard there's a Bug-type that's Roxie's favorite breed of pokegirl, so I think that means Kiana's making her return, more likely than not." He nodded at the Arcanine. "And then the final slot will be between Jade and Cindy. It depends. I know Roxie has a Crobat, but she also might just bring a Muk or a Koffing or something and those kinds of girls have enough bulk to give Cindy some trouble." He shot the Galvantula a glance to forestall any kind of argument. "Right now I'm leaning for your inclusion, Cindy, but if I think we're going to see a big bulky lineup from Roxie then it just makes sense to bring our own juggernaut in Jade."

Cindy grumbled but didn't argue, only continuing to mess with her silk. It seemed her 'plans' included weaving her own clothing, as she'd created a skimpy set of silken underwear so far and seemed to have begun on the arm of a full outfit.

"May I lead my pack into battle, Master?" Kiana asked quietly. "Like I could not before."

Nicholas nodded at her. "Sounds like a plan. You'll lead things off – there shouldn't be anyone Roxie can bring that will threaten you outright. Though I fully expect her to have coverage against the Fire, Psychic, and Ground-types." He blinked. "Maybe some Rock-type moves. That would make sense to cover the rare Bug or Flying-type who could be annoying to deal with otherwise. Hmmm…"

"Grass is one of the more common types to be paired with Poison," Sabrina pointed out as Nicholas thought. "I would put money on Roxie having someone with that kind of typing in her harem."

"Yeah, but I just don't know if she'd bring them today," Nicholas mused. "My harem isn't weak, but they're not fully trained, either. Kalmiya, can you give me a list of Grass/Poison-types endemic to Unova?"

"The Roserade line and the Amoonguss line, Master," Kalmiya replied. "A Roserade would be precisely the pokegirl you were hoping to avoid bringing Melody against."

"Shit, that's actually exactly the one I was thinking of," Nicholas grumbled. "Wally and Cynthia's both were crazy strong… What's an Amoonguss?"

"A slow, bulky tank, Master."

"Okay yeah I don't see one of those being used in a gym battle." Nicholas grunted. "You know what? Why am I playing this fair? Roxie's going to cheat. All the rest of the gym leaders here have. Kalmiya, I want you to go over all of the battle data you can find on her and compare it to what's established as her primary harem. Give me the most likely lineup we're going to face."

"Yes, Master. Please allow me just a moment."

"Take two." Nicholas looked back at Sabrina. "Does it lose any of the magic for you to see me outsourcing the work to my tactician?"

Sabrina was grinning from ear to ear. "You kidding, honey? She's only as good as she is because of you. This is a treat to listen to."

"I have a most likely lineup, Master. Confidence of seventy-four percent."

"That's as good as a hundred. Hit me with it."

"Firstly, Gym Leader Roxie has never been recorded using a Roserade," Kalmiya reported. "While she has registered an Amoonguss to her personal harem, you are correct – she has never been seen in a gym battle. Instead, Gym Leader Roxie tends to follow a set pattern to her gym lineups. Three pokegirls, three distinct slots. First, the Bug-type slot. This is filled most commonly by a member of the Scolipede line, but can also be filled by a member of the Drapion line, especially when Gym Leader Roxie expects to be facing a multitude of Psychic-type challengers. As you are not bringing any with you, Master, it can reasonably be assumed with a high degree of confidence that Gym Leader Roxie will bring a member of the Scolipede evolutionary line."

"I agree. Next?"

"Second, Gym Leader Roxie will always bring a pokegirl that can be defined as some level of 'bulky pivot'. Think of Dahlia, Nessa, or Bea, Master. Pokegirls that are able to soak hits and threaten back to force an opponent to play around them. This, Master, has a clear trend as well – against less experienced challengers, it is almost always a member of the Muk line, and against more experienced challengers – or when Gym Leader Roxie requires additional flexibility – it is a member of the Garbodor line. I say flexibility, as Gym Leader Roxie's Garbodor have been shown to be trained in a great multitude of coverage options, ranging from Psychic abilities, to Rock-type attacks, to Electric-type, and even Fighting-type strikes and more."

"Meaning we can reasonably assume it's a Garbodor with coverage that will come out today." Nicholas tsked. "That makes Cindy a bit worse. What about the third slot?"

"The third slot is the most variable, Master, and contributes to most of the variance in my prediction. The third slot is the flex slot for Gym Leader Roxie. From the Crobat line when she believes she needs speed, to a Seviper when she is aiming for more control of the battlefield, to the Weezing line if she believes she needs additional staying power – this slot is the only one I am not comfortable predicting with certainty, Master. However, I am willing to make a prediction based on your own harem today."

"Let me try first." Nicholas scratched his chin. "Roxie will know I'm not bringing Ada today, so how will she look at the others? I think she will be smart enough to give me a high probability of bringing Kiana, considering she remembers her from our first attempt here. It's a kind of 'I know that you know' situation, where she should expect me to do this exact analysis and settle on Kiana for her Scolipede or Drapion. Which means we really need to expect a Garbodor with Rock-type coverage." He nodded. "That would give her coverage for Cindy as well, but I don't expect her to think that means she brings a Crobat. What would a Crobat even do? Outspeed Melody? If anything, she would break tradition and bring her Amoonguss, and that seems highly unlikely. She doesn't need that speed, she's going to be up against at least two solid pokegirls so she needs to match their bulk. She's… I think she'll bring a Weezing. She doesn't need speed, she doesn't need battlefield control with a Seviper, what she needs is a way to avoid Jade and Melody." He grinned. "She needs a levitating smoke factory, that's what she needs. Is that what you were going to say?"

"Yes, Master. I would anticipate the lineup from Gym Leader Roxie to be a Scolipede, Garbodor, and Weezing."

"That means we get to plan around that," Nicholas mused. "Melody and Kiana are coming no matter what. I want Kiana for the Scolipede and as backup against that Weezing, and I want Melody to handle the Weezing and be good into the Garbodor." He grimaced. "Cindy or Jade. Cindy or Jade… I want to bring Cindy. I really do." The Galvantula preened but stopped when Nicholas kept talking. "But I just can't justify it. It's the same as why we think Roxie won't bring a Crobat – I don't need her speed. I need a girl who can take hits and dish them back out. I need a girl who can take a barrage of rocks without flinching, one who can stand up to a Scolipede's assault without breaking. Am I correct in remembering that Scolipede are all about big, steamroller-y attacks with their body, Kalmiya? I seem to remember that from what I witnessed during the attack on the League."

"That is correct, Master."

"Yeah. Wouldn't be surprised if they could shake the earth, too." Nicholas looked at Cindy. "This isn't your battle, Cindy. But you'll have your chance soon. I'll be relying on you when we get to Skyla."

Cindy reached over to caress his cheek as she tried to rally and save face. "My pet is worried for me?" she crooned. "How adorable."

Nicholas snickered and patted her hand. "Something like that." He turned back to the others. "Right. That's our own lineup. Kiana leads us in, and Melody and Jade will back her up. I like it." He looked to the stairs down into Roxie's gym. "Let's give Roxie that real fight she's been waiting for and take her badge."

Just as before the club was rocking despite the hour of the day. Only this time, Nicholas could tell that Roxie had been waiting for him. It was just recorded music playing over the speakers. The stage was already clear, and the gym leader herself was lounging in the center surrounded by a smattering of pokegirls.

"There's the big champ!" Roxie called as they walked in and Nicholas began recalling pokegirls. "Time to rock and roll?"

"Last time I was here I said I'd be back when I had a few Ground-types," Nicholas called back. "You ready for them?"

"Ground and Psychic-types. Every half-bit tamer thinks they can walk in here with them and take me down." Roxie got to her feet. "Get on up here, big champ. Let's see if yours are worth more than their typing."

Nicholas moved up onto the stage, but Roxie was already walking away to her end. "No nice greeting this time, eh?" he called after her. "Nothing but business?"

Roxie just shook her head and began recalling her own pokegirls, selecting three pokeballs and moving them into a ready position. "I know what's walked into my gym this time, big champ." Roxie finally broke the serious look on her face with a smirk as she settled down with one hand resting on her knee and the other holding a pokeball back against her hip. "I may be young, but there's a reason I'm the Gym Leader here. I know when it's time to get real."

"I know you do," Nicholas replied with a small smile of his own. "Three on three TKO?"

"You know it." Roxie straightened back up and unslung her guitar. "I don't think we need a ref today, do you?"

"Not as long as you're fine with true TKO."

"Best kind." Roxie lifted her pokeball in one hand and began making her guitar wail by ripping the fingers of her other down its neck. "LET'S MAKE IT LOUD! BEGIN!"

It appeared as if they had the advantage from the start when Kiana materialized across from a Scolipede. Still, Nicholas couldn't help but take a moment to appreciate what was facing them. Roxie's pokegirl was tauric, standing on four legs as her humanoid torso rose up taller than Kiana stood. Her body displayed jet black skin shifting beneath plates of thick magenta chitin, and poison oozed from the spikes that ran from each hip up the Scolipede's front all the way to her chin before being replaced by a pair of long and twisted horns. A powerful looking pokegirl. Well suited to be known as Roxie's ace.

"Hey. Big champ." Nicholas looked over to see Roxie staring at him. "You know why I never take a battle with more or less than three of my girls?" She smirked, taking better hold of her guitar and beginning to pluck out a deep bass line. "It's so that, even against a tamer who has no idea the shit they're in… Nobody can ever accuse me of playing mean." A wild sneer was growing across Roxie's face as she moved into more and more heavy riffs. "Because we can't fuckin' hold back when I want to get loud."

Nicholas had a sinking feeling as he looked back to the Scolipede. "This is your Alpha, isn't she."

Roxie roared with laughter and dragged her hand down the strings. "YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! AND WE AIN'T HOLDING BACK! VELIA!" Roxie threw her hand towards her Alpha. "STEAMROLL THAT ARCANINE!"

"You are all that stands between this enemy Alpha and your pack, Kiana!" Nicholas roared back, willing the Arcanine to stand strong in front of Velia as the Scolipede scraped her feet against the stage a few times and lowered her body to charge. "THIS IS NOT CATHY! THIS IS NOT AN IMAGINARY THREAT! THIS! IS! REAL! PROTECT THEM!"

His words were falling on deaf ears. Because Kiana wasn't stupid. She already knew. Everything he was screaming at her. She could see plainly that Velia, if allowed to overcome her, would run rampant over Jade and Melody. If. She overcame her. If. Velia couldn't help but shy back when Kiana planted her feet, tilting her head back and unleashing an eerie howl.

Kiana's eyes were consumed. Lost in her flames as the rest of her exploded to match. Fire roared from Kiana's half-open mouth as Velia charged, the Scolipede coming straight through without any care for the flames that licked at her skin. The Arcanine was blown off her feet from the impact, tumbling until she could catch herself and spring right back at Velia with a roar. This time the Scolipede made a sound. Screaming in pain as Kiana's teeth tore at her exposed skin and flame seared under her armor. Even still, Kiana was thrown when Velia curled, rolling her body forwards in a spinning disk that crushed the Arcanine under her spikes and brought Kiana's blood spraying into the air as she choked breath through her punctured chest.

Velia uncurled and skid to a halt, turning and snarling as she lowered her body to aim her horns at where Kiana struggled on the ground. But as she charged, Kiana moved. Forcing her body out of the way, trying to stand but falling again as her leg crumpled. Panting from the exertion as her energy continued to bleed away. She'd managed to buy herself time, though. With no target to absorb the force of her attack Velia's own leg had buckled under the stress when she'd tried to stop her momentum. Leaving both pokegirls clearly showing the damage they had sustained in their short, bloody clash.

Roxie was yelling to her pokegirl while she shredded on her guitar but she still took a moment to find Nicholas and give him a cheeky grin. "I 'member this chick!" she yelled with a laugh. "Just as single-minded as before! Come on Velia! Get up and finish her off!"

"You've done excellent damage, Kiana," Nicholas called to the panting Arcanine. "Against an opponent who's at least twice your strength. One of the others can clean this up."

"No," Kiana instantly snarled in response, slamming her hand against the stage as she strained to rise to her feet. A crunching, scraping sound could be heard as her claws drew deep lines into the surface. "Nothing threatens my pack." It took her a few moments but the Arcanine rose with her eyes locked on where Velia kneeled. "NOTHING!"

Everything Kiana had left poured into her flames as the Arcanine took a few lumbering steps to pick up speed. Her breath screaming out of her mouth as she staggered faster and faster, not really running, but continuously falling forwards as an ungainly ball of flame. Velia found her own footing in preparation to meet Kiana's charge and yelled her own challenge back, rearing back in the instant before impact to drive both forelegs straight for the incoming Arcanine. Her face going white when the fireball refused to slow and her limbs snapped.

Every flame vanished from Kiana's body when she slammed into Velia, leaving her to fall like a puppet with its strings cut – her eyes dull and almost lifeless. It had all jumped to Velia, and the fire surged through her, tearing at the Scolipede as she reeled back from the surprising force behind Kiana's blow. Kiana slammed to the ground first. But she did not have to wait long for Velia to join her.

Nicholas spared a glance to where Cathy was watching the battle as he recalled Kiana. What had it been that she said? Something about not wanting to find out how taking a hit from the Arcanine would feel when Kiana was more evenly matched to her? His fingers tightened on Kiana's pokeball and looked up to find Roxie with a wild grin on his face. All of his Alphas were powerful pokegirls as well as being strong Alphas. Kiana was well on her way to joining the rest.

"Looks like she took her point this time, big champ," Roxie called as she found her next pokeball. "Imagine that. Taking Velia down with her." She laughed. "Oh, I really like that chick."

"When we were here last time, I thought about trying again. Because I knew it would have taken two of your pokegirls to drag that Growlithe down." Nicholas smirked back and palmed Jade's pokeball. "I wasn't wrong. It took a pokegirl twice her strength to match her."

"So show me what else you've got, big champ!" Roxie cried, triggering her pokeball and releasing a pokegirl Nicholas hadn't seen before onto the stage. "Let's put it all out there!"

"Jade!" Nicholas triggered his pokeball as well. "Your Alpha has set this stage for you! No holding back. Show me all you've got!"

"Yes, Keeper." Jade took a ready stance as her opponent, which Kalmiya positively identified as a Garbodor, began pulling bits of detritus from her body and crunching it all between her hands. "YOU WILL FALL!"

The stage shook with every lumbering step Jade took but before she could make it more than halfway to her target the Garbodor was drawing her hands apart, revealing that the debris she had been playing with had become conglomerated into a ball held together by a sticky purple sludge. The technique came to life a moment later, the ball sizzling as the Garbodor poured her energy into her sludge and then sent a quick flurry of missiles firing out to smash against Jade's armor. The first few deflected, but one managed to catch the Golett near a seam and tore a massive chunk of stone from her body.

With an angry roar Jade reached the Gardodor and threw a punch which the amorphous pokegirl seemed to absorb without much issue. Until Jade whipped back around, light shining from within her armor as she brought both arms crashing down to smash the Garbodor against the floor.

"MY ARMOR!" Jade roared, stomping one foot into the Garbodor's body before staggering back with a pained bellow as more missiles exploded from all around her and this time smashed multiple holes in the Golett's defenses. "ENOUGH!"

Jade's next stomp was forceful enough that cracks radiated from beneath the Gardbodor's body before she went still. When Roxie recalled her there was a distinct impact crater left behind and she flicked to her final pokeball while Jade staggered back, her dust beginning to appear as she focused on the gaping holes across her body.

"Straightforward brute? Meh." The red beam of her pokeball coalesced into a massively endowed floating form and Roxie gestured almost dismissively as the Weezing's smoke started to seep from her body. "Beth, clean that up for me."

"Yes, Leader." Beth waved her hands about to start swirling her smoke as she gave Jade a sneering grin. "Seems you've taken a few hits already, glowstick. Let me just-" It wasn't nearly as fast as Kiana or Adalinda, but the sudden lunge from Beth was still twice as fast as Jade's reaction time. "Snap you in two."

Jade's musical voice rang out in a shrill cry as Beth cleaved a foot cloaked in darkness straight through her torso and scattered her fragmented chest plate to pieces. Before she could do anything to stop the Weezing Beth had grabbed her by the shoulder, lifting her other hand up before driving it straight through Jade's face and out the back of her incorporeal head as a blast of shadow tore the Golett's form to shreds. As the shattered armor fell, it was to the sound of Roxie going absolutely wild on her guitar.

Nicholas quickly recalled Jade and grabbed Melody's pokeball. He couldn't judge this Weezing's strength. Certainly quite strong to have so easily dropped Jade, even if the Golett had been injured, but how strong? Was this another one of Roxie's true harem? If she was, could Melody even win?

His whirling thoughts fled when another rose to the front and his fingers tightened their grip on Melody's pokeball. It didn't matter if she could or couldn't. Elesa had had some good ideas.

"MELODY!" Nicholas released the Seismitoad and set his stance so that if she was going to look back she'd see him standing confidently. Whether or not he had all the answers he needed to make Melody believe he did. "I've been saving the best for last! Welcome to the stage!" He threw out his arms. "ROXIE WANTS TO BE LOUD! SO LET'S! DROWN! HER! OUT!"

Melody's eyes were focused on Roxie as the woman shredded her guitar. The thrumming bass line was like a force of its own as it shook her chest and she could… feel it. Every vibration. Her ears heard the music but her body… Melody took a deep breath, filling her lungs to dampen the soundwaves pushing through them before flexing and releasing it all in a staccato scream that came in perfect counter phase to Roxie's riffs. A few beats of the two sounds competing, clashing, building to a painful crescendo… but then, a moment. For just a single moment, the stage went silent. Within the lull Melody slammed her arms together, the bumps that had multiplied from her evolution and now spread along the full lengths of her limbs thumping together and beginning to pulse. As Melody had to breathe, the silence broken once more by Roxie's guitar, there was other music to challenge her. Crude, but with a decisive beat. The music of Melody's body as she did her best to match the skill and experience of Roxie's playing with her instinctive knowledge of sound.

Roxie's eyes were positively glowing as she laughed, the sound not even close to loud enough to be heard over her music, and Beth surged forwards, sending her poisonous smog to flow over Melody. Only for the cloud to be shaken apart by the soundwaves Melody was emanating and Beth tumbled back again while clutching her ears when the Seismitoad raised her fists to create a directed wave that pounded the Weezing hard. She caught herself quickly, wincing as she had to pull her hands from her ears in order to focus an attack but rewarded for her pain when the sizzling liquid she drew from her pores sprayed true and splattered all across Melody to begin eating away at the Seismitoad's clothes and skin.

Smoke was rising from the pockmarks across Melody's body as the acid went to work and she acted quickly, not even vocalizing her pain as her throat bulged and a moment later a torrent of clean water was bursting forth to become a cleansing shower that washed Beth's acid away. With every inch of exposed skin glistening Melody turned the water on the Weezing herself and Beth was thrown through the air by the blast until she slammed into the arena wall.

Evenly matched. Then Melody can easily do this! Nicholas thought to himself. "YES, Melody! Sound and water! FINISH THIS!"

Beth threw herself free of Melody's water and roared, dipping a bit towards the ground in her fatigue as she heaved a misshapen mass for Melody. Congealed poison, mixed with the particulates in her smoke, it was going to be a nasty compound regardless of if it stuck to Melody's skin or managed to find its way into her body. If it did either of those things.

Instead, all it did was splatter against Melody's cheek. The water on the Seismitoad's glistening wet skin wicked the impact away without any issue and though a small globule managed to stick to her ear, where it began quickly eating through Melody's skin, all she had to do was flick it away before turning her full attention to the wavering Weezing. Melody raised her hands. Clenched them hard into two fists. And with a deafening scream slammed them together to create an enormous BOOM.

The omnidirectional wall of compressed sound pushed Beth along with it until the Weezing slammed against the far edge of the arena, falling from the air in front of Roxie without any attempt to soften her landing. She just lay there. The effects of being hit by such a powerful soundwave clearly visible by all the places blood was beginning to leak from her head.

Roxie slammed her hand down one final time, slowly tilting her head back as she caressed the neck of her guitar to draw the last note out as long as she could. When it eventually faded out she remained there, listening, as Melody's own clumsy attempts at music faded too. It was only when the stage was completely silent that she lowered her head and found Beth's pokeball to recall the unconscious Weezing.

"Now that," Roxie called softly as Nicholas cheered and began moving into the arena to congratulate Melody, "damn well proved that you can rock with me, big champ."

Nicholas didn't really acknowledge Roxie, more interested in reaching Melody and clapping the Seismitoad on the shoulder. "ATTAGIRL! That was BEAUTIFUL, Melody! A performance worthy of this stage!"

When she didn't respond he stepped around the motionless Seismitoad to see her… crying. Smiling, but with tears welling in her eyes as well. "Hey," he murmured. "You alright?"

Melody bowed her head and closed her eyes, her tears leaking out to run down her cheeks. "I'm sorry, I…" she whispered, lifting a hand to one of the bumps on her arm before a shiver ran through her body. "I've just… I've never felt this before." She opened her eyes and looked up with pure, unfiltered joy radiating from her expression. "I'm sorry, Nick. I think I'm going to be a lot louder from now on."

Nicholas just grinned and slapped her shoulder again. "That's what I'm counting on, Melody. From the day I first met you I've been just itching to bring you here to meet Roxie." He looked over at the Gym Leader. "EY! Roxie! Rate my Seismitoad, one to ten."

Roxie snickered and started ambling over. "Easy eleven! That girl can ROCK!" She stopped in front of them and gave Melody a kind smile, at odds to her usual sneers and standoffish attitude. "Keep practicing, girl. Sorry, her name was?" she asked Nicholas.

"Melody."

"Melody." Roxie reached out to offer a handshake. "You've got a nice feel for tempo. First time really using those cones properly, I assume? Lots of bass, but I heard a few higher pitches in between."

"Erm… Cones?" Melody asked, accepting Roxie's handshake and standing there a bit awkwardly. "What are those?"

"These things," Roxie replied, reaching up to tap one of Melody's bumps. "Last time I chatted with Clay's Seismitoad she described manipulating them kind of like how we do speakers. So I've started calling them your cones." When Melody still looked lost Roxie rolled her eyes. "The vibrating part of a speaker? The big round cone in the middle?"

"I'm… really sorry," Melody stammered, a blush beginning to darken her cheeks, "but I… I still don't really know what you mean."

"Geez, big champ, the hell you been teaching this girl?" Roxie complained loudly. Melody squeaked when the much smaller woman's grip clamped down on her hand and she suddenly found herself getting dragged towards the rear of the stage. "At least Melody here has a taste for music in the first place. Clay's girl only saw sound as part of her arsenal!" Roxie stopped in front of her stacked gear, Nicholas following behind with an amused chuckle, and jabbed a finger towards one of the speakers. "There, see? The round bit. In the center. It's a softer material that vibrates back and forth to make sound. Look." Roxie gently pushed in the cone of her speaker and wiggled it around for Melody's benefit. "I swear. I should find me a good Seismitoad of my own so that the rest of you can see how a real vibration pokegirl makes music."

Melody's free hand drifted to a bump and pressed into the surface, her eyes following after a moment as she felt the way her body reacted and watched the divot her fingers were making circle around a central point. "…Huh. And that, speaker, cone, thing… that's it? All those sounds, the music… How would it all come from that one thing?"

"EH?! This is a travesty! Imagine not knowing something like this!" Roxie shot Nicholas an accusatory glare. "Seriously, big champ, the hell you been teaching this poor pokegirl? Look, Melody, so if the speaker were to vibrate slow, that's gonna be a big low-frequency bass, but if it goes fast then it's gonna be little sharp notes, like watch this…"

Nicholas cleared his throat as Roxie procured a cord and plugged her guitar into the speaker, beginning to pluck out example lines while Melody's eyes were locked on the speaker as it vibrated. "That's the entire reason I wanted to make sure I brought her to meet you, Roxie," he said. "Melody loves music. Making music. When I first met her she said she loved to sing, but you can't have song without a backing track, right?"

"Debatable, to be honest," Roxie replied. "Singin's just another kind of music. But I think lyrics are always best with a nice arrangement behind them." She slapped the strings of her guitar to silence it and belted out a few lines. "I wanna kiss you, but I want it too much – I wanna taste you, but your lips are ven-o-mous, poisooooon!" With another slap on her guitar's body to keep the beat she launched into an electric riff, repeating it a few times before continuing her lyrics. "Your poi-son running, through my veins, you're poison, I don't wanna. Break. These. Chains! PoisoooOOO-O-O-O-O-ON! YEAH!"

Nicholas hooted as Roxie launched into a quick guitar solo but right as she hit the climax she slapped her hand over the strings to silence it again. "Whew! Launching that solo without Jo leading me in just feels wrong. Anyways, you get me? Sure I could sing that whole thing with just the vocals but the music adds a whole new depth, y'know?"

"I have never been more aggressively blue-balled in my life," Nicholas complained. "And I've got multiple girls around me who get off on that kind of thing. That was just rude, Roxie! You can't just cut off the solo like that!"

Roxie gave him a mischievous grin. "I just did. Whatcha' gonna do about it, eh? Cry? Guess you gotta buy one of my albums or come to a concert night to hear the whole thing."

"Or," Nicholas countered, sidling over and throwing an arm around Melody's shoulders, "I buy my Seismitoad a guitar like yours and get her to play it for me."

Melody had been letting herself get lost in the sound and the vibrations of Roxie's music so when the words first hit her ear she didn't quite process them right away. Leading her to react simultaneously with Roxie's growing grin hitting the widest it could go. "WH-WAI-WHA-!"

"Saw a good-looking shop downtown, before we wandered in here," Nicholas said as he squeezed Melody. "What's your opinion on Gruhn's?"

Roxie laughed out loud. "You've got a good eye, big champ. Though I dunno if Gruhn's does the kind of models you'd need if you carted a guitar around Unova. You're taking Melody to face Champion Iris, yeah?"

"Of course."

"Well try not to break the one you get on a feral's face, at least, alright?" Roxie asked, turning her grin on the speechless Melody. "Guess I was wrong. You've got just the right kind of tamer for a Seismitoad, Melody." Her eyes lit up. "Even your name. That's damned intentional, ain't it big champ?"

"You better believe it," Nicholas growled playfully. "Her voice is my beautiful Melody."

"Then her tamer needs this," Roxie replied, handing over her badge, "so that he's not wasting any more time in my gym. Go get your girl her axe."

"Thanks, Roxie. I will." Nicholas reached over to thump his fist against the woman's. "Appreciate the rematch. Keep rocking, Roxie."

Roxie flashed a wink. "And you, big champ. HEY!" She lifted a hand and was gesturing after them as Nicholas turned to lead a stunned Melody from the gym. "I WANT HER BACK HERE WHEN SHE LEARNS TO SHRED, AIGHT? YOU HEAR ME?"

"Oh, I hear you!" Nicholas called back with a shit-eating grin. "I'll even see about bringing Nikki too!"

"Oh HELL yeah!" Roxie whooped. "Until next time, big champ!"

"So this is why you said you would be spending the night here win or lose," Sabrina teased quietly, bumping her hip against Nicholas' as they followed Melody down the street towards the same hotel they'd stayed in during their last visit to Virbank, all those months ago. The Seismitoad was walking slow, a solid carbon fiber guitar case slung across her back while her hands stroked the instrument she carried. "Took a while for her to pick that out. Say, does that take the spot for 'most expensive gift' that you've handed out?"

"Nah. It definitely makes the top five or so, but the number one slot is still your ring, I think." Nicholas smiled and threw his arm around Sabrina. "But you know, regardless of what else goes on that list, I know what will one day take the top position and never be surpassed."

"What's that?"

"The house I build for us," Nicholas replied, squeezing Sabrina when she shivered happily. "Where we'll raise our child together."

"When?" Sabrina breathed, leaning into him as she did.

"Whenever you think you're ready," Nicholas replied with a kiss on the top of her head. "The day we leave Unova will be the day I take you home."

"Wha-? You've decided on the design without me?" Sabrina pouted. "Nicholas…"

Nicholas laughed. "No, no. I mean home as in Alola. I wouldn't dare finalize anything without your input, honey. But I've already secured a loan and put Kalmiya on the job of purchasing the land. I can't wait to show you the location. Poni Island is barely developed so it will just be us for miles around." He chuckled when Sabrina started to grumble something. "The way the waterfalls curve around the area… How the smell of the meadows drifts past when they're in bloom… And the white sand beaches stretching as far as your eye can see, glittering in the sun as a border to the open sea." Sabrina had gone silent as he described things and he gave her another loving kiss. "And that's not even mentioning how wonderful it will be just to live there. So many hiking trails, along the coast, to the interior, it's a day trip to some of the most sacred heritage sites on the islands. Plenty of enrichment for everyone."

"…I admit," Sabrina murmured, her eyes sliding shut as she turned her head so that his next kiss found her lips, "the way you're describing it… makes me forgive you for making this decision without me."

"I'd hoped it might," Nicholas murmured back, breaking the kiss and finally letting go of her. "It can come as soon as you want it. You greedy woman." He chuckled to take the bite from his words. "You wanted it both ways and by the Creator I intend to give it to you."

"You're too good to me," Sabrina whispered. "I need to be good to you."

"Oh, you don't have to 'repay' me, honey," Nicholas said with a smile. "You know that. I do all this for you because it makes me happy to."

Sabrina clapped her hand onto his fist. "I'm doing something for you anyways," she stated firmly. "Where to next for your Unovan girls?"

"I'll need to get us back to Mistralton. Skyla and her gym next."

"Well that's just perfect." Sabrina grinned. "Let me worry about that for you. From what I can see in your thoughts you've got a pokegirl to congratulate tonight."

Nicholas chuckled. "She deserves to be happy."

"They all do," Sabrina murmured, a great smile blooming across her lips as she took both of his hands and gave them a squeeze. "We all do, considering everything you do for me too, honey. Go on. Make Melody sing."

Nicholas chuckled under his breath at the joke and nodded. "Okay. I will. See you in the morning?"

"I'll find you." Sabrina took another full kiss before breaking away and giving him a wave, Kali and Indra following her. "Have a fun night, honey! Try not to break her guitar!"

Nicholas snickered and turned to Melody, picking up his pace until he was next to the Seismitoad. "Hotel's on the next block."

Melody twitched in surprise but otherwise made no reaction to show that he'd invaded her daydreams. "Oh. Almost there?"

Nicholas smiled at her. "Mm-hmm. Your feet just carried you the whole way on their own. Are you going to be fidgeting with that all night too? Or do you think I can convince you to put it away for a bit."

"I…" Melody trailed off as her lips twitched up and then she was coughing out a few laughs. "Shit, I don't even know how I feel right now. I, I don't think… Nobody has ever done anything like this for me. Like any of it. Anything from that moment I opened my eyes to find a strange human watching me." Her eyes closed as a shudder raced through her body. "Happy? Is that what this is supposed to be? I thought I'd been happy before. I thought I was happy when you spoke to me, sang to me… I thought I was happy when you let me dress myself, let me learn that I liked… this." She trailed her fingers down her clothes, lingering on the spots where the acids from her gym battle had pockmarked the material. "I thought I was happy when Alpha Kiana accepted me. I thought I was happy when I evolved. I thought… I thought I was happy when you showed me how happy you were I had."

"I like making my pokegirls happy."

"You do, don't you?" Melody whispered. "But that's not enough either, is it? Tons of tamers have happy pokegirls following them around. That's not enough for you. You… You want more. You want there to be no chance one of us might have her doubts." She opened her eyes to stare at him. "All of this, for all of us, so that we will be your unflinching harem. That's what's really going on here, right?"

"I've heard from others that that's a side effect of what I do, yes," Nicholas replied, "but it's not the primary purpose at all. I do all this because I'm happier when you are. Still, I'm not going to try and discourage my pokegirls from feeling like that either – like you said, it means that as time goes on I know I can rely on each of them without any doubt. Because they lose their doubt in me." He lifted an eyebrow at Melody. "What do you think? Is it working?"

Melody shivered. "Yeah. It is. That's what I'm feeling, isn't it. I… There was a lot of doubt with… the last one. He wasn't anything horrible, at least I didn't think he was, but… I kept my eye open. I was willing to maybe take my chances somewhere else. If I'd been given the opportunity." She snorted quietly. "Most of that stuck around, even after that first day. I was just waiting for things to change. For the honeymoon period to end, I think is the saying. But it never did. It just kept getting better and now I…" She trailed off to look at the meticulously crafted guitar in her hands. "The doubt… it's going away."

"But I'm not."

Melody looked back up at him to see Nicholas' unflinching gaze focused on her. Her breath came out slow, exhaling as her eyes were lost in his, and when she breathed back in it was to bring the blood rushing to her face at the same time. Melody clumsily pulled her guitar case from her back, carefully stowing the instrument before clutching it to her chest. "J-Just a block away? The hotel?"

Nicholas smiled. "Yeah. Right around the corner."

The next few minutes were a blur for the Seismitoad. Hurrying to the hotel, drifting behind Nicholas as he checked in, resisting his pull just long enough to see her guitar lain safely in a corner of the hotel room, and then she was falling onto the bed, her hands yanking at her clothes until she'd extricated herself from the multi-layered outfit.

Nicholas was well ahead of her and he shuffled over to start caressing the skin Melody was slowly revealing, his dick twitching erect as he reveled in the body under his hands. Her evolution had been incredibly kind. She'd grown heavily – the most obvious aspect being her general size and bulk, going from a relatively average figure to a hulking beast of a pokegirl. Not heavy, like a Snorlax, nor was she a chiseled mass of muscle, like a Machamp, but something in between. Something like Zisela. Large. Thick. Solid. And he loved single inch of her.

Part of that, of course, was her chest. He hadn't cracked a joke about her bust since the day Melody evolved, because none of them made sense anymore. Her previous tamer might have still dismissed the Seismitoad as 'small', but she wasn't even close. She was just right. A big body, big breasts… and as he reflected on the cheery personality that Melody had shown as she opened up, he knew it was all matched by a big heart.

And a big TONGUE, he was reminded, when Melody finally got herself out of her clothes and threw herself on top of him. She smashed their lips together and suddenly Nicholas found his mouth full, Melody's long tongue worming inside and just continuing to fill the space until it ran out of room and he gagged when she started pushing it down his throat.

"Mmmph?" Melody said in a confused tone when Nicholas went from pushing against her to very, very forcefully shoving her away and ripping her tongue from his mouth before doubling over and choking back his lunch. "Nick?"

"Can't go that far," Nicholas managed to gasp out, closing his eyes while he fought the queasy feelings rolling through his stomach. "I know you're excited but you can't go that far."

"Oh… Do you not like it when I do?" Melody fretted. She shuffled over to gingerly pat at Nicholas' body. "I'm sorry. I just… I've never… I wanted you to feel… I wanted to feel you. You to feel me."

"Yeah, down the throat means I empty my stomach is all," Nicholas groaned. "It's fine, just give me a moment."

"Means…?" Melody looked at him in confusion. "That would happen because you don't like it, right?"

Nicholas was starting to breathe easier and he looked up at Melody while panting. "You've never pushed something down the back of your throat before? It's called a gag reflex."

Melody closed her mouth and tilted her chin up, a large bulge appearing near her collarbone and pushing up towards her larynx before shifting back down and sliding back and forth a few times. "That's where most of my tongue goes when I speak," she explained after a few seconds of this. "I've never heard of a 'gag reflex' before. Do other pokegirls have one?"

"…You know, that is an excellent question," Nicholas replied. "Considering Karen recently deepthroated my dick without even a pause, maybe not. I'd just imagined she'd learned to do that. Humans can too with enough practice." His brow wrinkled. "Hmm. Would make sense if you didn't. How many pokegirls shoot stuff from their mouths? I'd imagine doing that would be pretty annoying if you were fighting not to gag… Anyways." He blinked and returned his attention to Melody with a jaunty grin. "Enough science musing. I've got a Seismitoad who's waiting on her reward for an incredible performance in today's gym battle."

Melody flushed when he moved back in and started kissing her face, slowly making his way down her body and paying special attention to her breasts before he moved to her abdomen. "I thought that was the guitar…"

"And you also thought," Nicholas murmured, placing a kiss on Melody's mons before running his tongue over her clit, "that what I gave you when you evolved was something special. Unique." He looked up to watch Melody contort, her fingers and toes squeezing into the bed while pleasured shivers raced through her body. "No, Melody. I try to make that the norm. Let me show you something special."

He knew that he was doing something right when Melody's cries rose and shifted, turning to song as she screamed her pleasure from his tongue and fingers. They'd rolled about a bit by the time he pulled back from the Seismitoad's thoroughly lubricated vagina, with Melody ending up somewhere between face-down and on her side, so when he shifted his position to bring his dick near her slit he had to lift her tree trunk of a leg up and over his shoulder to gain full access. Melody screamed into the mattress as he slid in, her panting the only noises that were really making it past the blankets as he thrust deep and her entire body was rolled back and forth atop her breasts. A heady moan when his hands took a firm group near her waist and then a shocked, orgasmic cry when he pressed into her skin and Melody felt her flesh sandwiched between his hand and his cock. She came so hard Nicholas had to shift his group just to keep himself inserted and he let himself go as well, groaning as he shot his load deep into the Seismitoad's cunt.

"Don't give out on me yet," Nicholas murmured, pushing Melody's leg over to place her fully face-down so that he could pull himself up her back and reach around to start kneading the panting pokegirl's breasts while she came down from her high. She shivered when he nestled up against her head and whispered into her ear. "The night's just getting started."
