Now, I had to make the excuse of going to the restroom so I could find out what Betty was hiding in the Planetarium, where I secretly followed her inside, hearing a voice say. "Atomic Betty, this is your commander speaking."
I peeked through the main door to see Betty saluting...a hologram of a fish dressed in uniform from her bracelet, announcing. "Atomic Betty, reporting for duty, sir!"
My eyes widen at what I was seeing.
"I apologize for interrupting your daily school routine, but Maximus I.Q. has been spotted trying to locate the Golden Asteroids, the rarest of all space rocks." the fish hologram explained as two more holograms of a sinister-looking cat and the Golden Asteroids appeared beside him.
"Asteroids made of pure gold? How is that even possible?" asked Betty.
"No one knows for sure." said the fish hologram. "But we cannot let Maximus get his claws on them. You'll have to get there first before he does."
"Yes, sir, Admiral DeGill, sir!" Betty said, saluting at the hologram that disappeared, then touched her bracelet, which activated a bright beam of light, through which she disappeared right before my eyes.
Once Betty had gone, I walked over to the energy beam.
But as I held my hand out, Eddy bursted inside, exclaiming. "Aha! I knew you were faking..."
I stumbled backwards on seeing him, only to find myself inside the beam, disappearing in front of the Eds.
"Hey, you can't hide from me in there!" Eddy said as he ran towards the beam.
"Eddy, wait!" Double D protested as he and Ed followed him up...
...to a Hyper-Galactic Star Cruiser, where inside the teleportation dock, Betty, now wearing a pink and white uniform, called out. "Sparky, X-5, set the course!"
As she met with her crew, little did Betty realize that I have been teleported onto her ship, as well as the Eds, who toppled over me.
Eddy groaned as he got up. "Boy, that was some elevator."
"I don't think that was an elevator." I said, staring at the night-like sky through the ship window.
Taking notice of it as well, Double D realized we are now in space!
"Gentlemen, I have the strangest feeling we're not in Bowditch anymore." he said
Before another word could be spoken, the Star Cruiser went into full throttle, pinning me and the Eds against the wall.
"You...think?" Eddy said through his clenched teeth.
We stay pinned until the Star Cruiser stopped.
As soon as the Eds and I were free from the wall, we noticed a yellow glow coming from outside.
We looked through the windows, staring with awe at...
"The Golden Asteroids!" Betty exclaimed upon seeing them.
"So shiny!" marveled a green alien named Sparky, one of Betty's crew.
"That's because they're one of the rarest space rocks in the galaxy." explained a robot named X-5, another member of Betty's crew. "And they're all 24 karats."
"No wonder Maximus is looking out for them." said Betty. "They must be worth a fortune."
On hearing that word, Eddy quietly slipped away with a greedy smile on his face.
Hardly noticing he had gone, I spotted a framed portrait hanging on the wall.
To my surprise, it showed Betty...alongside Captain Amelia and Mr. Arrow!
"Good lord!" Double D gasped as he saw the portrait too, realizing, like I did, that Betty knew them.
"Eddy?" Ed called, finally noticing Eddy's absence.
"Let's get them into the ship before Maximus shows up." said Betty.
"Aye, aye, Cap...what the..."
As Sparky spoke, he, Betty and X-5 saw Eddy outside, holding onto one of the Golden Asteroids, laughing and exclaiming. "I'M RICH!"
"Eddy, you get back here this in...stant?" Double D called out, stopping himself upon realizing he had accidentally blown our cover.
Betty gasped when she saw us on her ship.
"You guys can't be here." she said, hopping down from her seat.
"Betty, I can explain." I began, but Betty cut me off, saying. "There's no time. I have to get all this gold into the ship before..."
But as she spoke, another spaceship, in the form of a cat's head, appeared in front of the ship and the Golden Asteroids.
Betty gasped when she saw that it was…
"Maximus!"
"That's right, Atomic Pestie." sneered Maximus, who appeared on the ship's monitor. "And I owe you and your loyal crew a debt of gratitude for leading me to the end of the rainbow."
As he spoke, a large ray gun emerged, disintegrating one Golden Asteroid after another.
"What? No!" Eddy cried as he tried to grab a hold of them. "Cut it out, will ya?"
But it was no use. All the Golden Asteroids have disappeared within a blink of an eye.
"Now if you excuse me," said Maximus. "I'm off to make ourselves rich."
"Ourselves?" Double D, Ed, and I repeated.
Maximus' evil laugh was, then, heard as his spaceship turned and sped away.
Sparky gasped. "He just made off with our booty!"
"After him!" Betty ordered, leaping back into her seat.
As Sparky pulled the Star Cruiser on full throttle again, Double D, Ed and I looked out the window at...
"Eddy!"
...who cried hysterically as he floated into space.
"WE'LL SAVE YOU, EDDY!" called Ed, who ran into the cockpit, grabbing onto the steering wheel.
"Hey, what are you..." Sparky said as Ed turned the Star Crusier around towards Eddy, pushing a button that activated a large net, with which he...
"Gotcha, Eddy!"
"Give me that!" Sparky demanded, taking back the wheel, steering the Star Cruiser towards Maximus' ship, where inside, his assistant, a monkey-like alien named Minimus P.U. looked at the radar, saying. "She's getting closer, sir."
"Lose her." Maximus said coldly.
Minimus' face turned evil, literally, as he chuckled. "Yes, master."
"Faster, Sparky! Faster!" urged Betty.
But as the Star Crusier got closer, Maximus' ship went into hyper speed in a blinding flash, making us look away from the light.
When Betty looked back, she saw that Maximus was gone, as well as the Golden Asteroids.
"No!" she gasped.
"Sorry." I said nervously.
Betty looked back at me and the Eds with an angry frown.
"Take us back home." she ordered her crew. "I don't want DeGill to see them here."
As Betty led me and the Eds away, Sparky asked. "He's gonna find out about this, isn't he?"
"What do you think?" X-5 asked back.
