Once Betty, the Eds and I were teleported back into the Planetarium at Bowditch, I tried to explain again. "Look, Betty, we're sorry you lost all that gold up there."
"It's not just that." said Betty. "You could've cost me my position as Galactic Guardian."
"Galactic Guardian? What's that, a new line of Power Rangers?" asked Eddy.
"Galactic Guardians are responsible for protecting the galaxy from any evil threat." explained Betty. "But it won't matter anymore if my commanding officer finds out you got in the way and let Maximus take the Golden Asteroids."
"Betty, wait!" I called as she was about to leave. "Nobody else has to know what happened up there because we won't tell them anything. Trust us."
Betty just stared at me, somberly saying. "I don't know if I can now."
As she left, closing the door behind her, Double D held me back before I could catch up, saying. "Probably for the best if she's left alone for a while."
As we left the Planetarium as well, Eddy moped. "I don't believe it. All that rare space gold, gone!"
"Are those the only things on your mind, Eddy?" asked Double D. "You nearly lost your life over them!"
"How careless can you be, Eddy?" scolded Ed.
"Hey, we would've been set for life if it wasn't for that space ca…what's that?" Eddy said, noticing the missing poster on the display case.
"One hundred bucks for a missing horse?!" he said while reading the bottom of the poster. "Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo! We're gonna be rich, swimming in moolah, rolling in hay!"
As I looked closer at the poster, that had a picture of the horse, Buck, with a bored expression on his face, I heard someone call my name.
"Nathan!"
It was Les, who came up to me, saying. "Where have you been? It is almost time for the next class. We do not want to miss that, do we?"
I turned to Double D, who shook his head, which was his way of saying not to tell Les what just happened up there.
The most I could do was say with a sigh. "No."
I went with Les to class, feeling uneasy because I knew that being around Betty was going to be hard to get through now, especially when she's in most of my classes, including cooking with Mrs. O'Neill.
