Hi Everyone! Thank you for taking the time to read my story! It is meant for Kisara to be a part of the existing story for Yu-Gi-Oh while showing a side of Seto others haven't seen. I obviously don't own these characters or any songs included in this chapter. This is my first story so if I should update it, just let me know and I would be happy to change it. I've had this story in my head for a while and I just write it down so I always remember. It isn't my intention to take credit for anything I didn't create. Thanks and I hope you enjoy!
Part 6: The Rift
Training-
Kisara is leaving her office, having just changed into workout clothes. She wears black work out shorts and a large T-Shirt. She walks to the elevators and presses the button of the security floor. It is late at night as she steps out into the hallway. The moonlight reflects off the shiny floors while she puts in her headphones. She walks with her bag and picks a song on her phone. The music fills her ears, drowning out her thoughts. She closes her eyes and sinks into the music exhaling. She hasn't been able to stop thinking about Seto. Somehow between working three jobs and constantly training, she still goes back to seeing his face. It's twisted and disappointed; it's the same face he gave her when she lost Mokuba. {He still hasn't talked to me after all this time. I can't help but feel like he doesn't want me here.} As she keeps her eyes closed, the face comes back. She smacks her head trying to get rid of it and opens her eyes. Seto stands in front of her, the real Seto. He stands further down the hall with a couple guards towards the back exit. The security department double doors stand between the two of them. He looks right at her, unsure of what to say. He opens his mouth about to begin while she looks back sad. She continues to stare as she walks towards the security department doors and punches in the code for the door. Tired from working all day and thinking he won't talk to her; she keeps watching him. He continues to sort through his vocabulary and find the words. She opens the door and holds it open for a moment to see what he does next. {I've run into him before. Will he say something now?} He closes his mouth deciding not to say anything. Kisara's eyes tear up while music still blasts in her ears. She turns from him and walks in the room before a tear can fall to the ground. She locks the door behind her and tosses her bag on the floor. The whole department is empty while she walks toward the training mats. {I don't know how much longer I can take this.} She turns on the lights and drops down a punching bag from the ceiling on a rope. {What if he never forgives me? Should I leave? I know I made a big risk coming out here. I don't know what I expected.} She starts to wrap her hands with tape and then punches both her fists together. She trains on the bag. {I disappointed him. I've disappointed others before, but this is different. Why do I care so much?} She kicks the bag and punches it harder and harder breathing accordingly. {I have to keep training so nothing like that can happen again. We almost lost Mokuba because of me.} The memories flood back, and she kicks the bag hard and yells. It flies in the air and crashes into the wall, wedged in the drywall. She looks and sighs, {I guess I have to train somewhere else. This will be hard to explain to the team.} She runs her hands through her hair and sighs catching her breath. She grabs her bag and brings it to the main office with Al's name on the door. She drops her bag on the opposite seat from his desk and walks to the back of the room. She walks toward the far wall and emerges in a dark abandoned shipyard. Large scraps of metal tower above her as she wraps her hair into a high ponytail. She gets into a sprinting stance and prepares. {Let's get started.}
Apologize-
Seto is working in a room with a giant model of Kaiba land offsite. He arrived with two of his guards out front. He keeps thinking of Kisara with tears swelling in her eyes before walking into the security department. He exhales loudly and knocks over a model building. He redirects his attention to another table with building layouts. Mokuba walks in and straight up to Seto's desk. He is working in his black turtleneck with his jacket hanging on a near by coat rack. "Seto,"
"Not now Mokuba, can't you see I'm busy?"
Mokuba angrily walks up, "What is going on between you and Kisara?"
Seto looks surprised at his up front question. He replies sadly and truthfully, "Nothing is going on between her and I."
Mokuba asks, "Have you apologized to her yet?" Seto shakes his head. "Why not?"
Seto picks up a map to look at it while explaining, "She keeps avoiding me. If she doesn't want an apology, she won't get one."
Mokuba pulls down the map from his face, "She isn't asking for an apology, she deserves it. You need to talk to her. Do you want her to leave?"
Seto looks at him, "She wouldn't. We have too much at stake with the parks." He goes back to looking at the model of the park.
Mokuba, upset he won't admit he is wrong, says something to get his attention, "I know you love her." Seto jumps violently. He turns to Mokuba slowly and evilly. Mokuba doesn't move unafraid and remembering Kisara who would do the same, "You may not even admit it yourself, but we can all see it. So, you better do something to fix this quick!" Mokuba runs away before his brother has a chance to respond. He leaves Seto in the room with his thoughts.
Watch Me-
The next morning, Kisara is slumped in Al's chair snoring. She feels a light tap on her shoulder and immediately grips the person's shirt, holding a hidden knife to his neck. "Ah! Kisara! It's me, Stanton!"
She releases him quickly, "Sorry Stanton. You should be careful when waking me up next time." She rubs her eyes and starts to stretch in the chair. The two of them have grown close in Al's absence. Haru has had no trouble expressing his jealousy. Stanton has become her right hand man during the tournament and beyond.
"I don't even know where to start!" He yells, "Why do you have a knife?!"
Kisara looks at the knife in her hands and sticks it back in her boot. "Don't worry about it."
Stanton looks at her concerned and confused. "Did you stay here overnight? And what happened to that punching bag?!"
Kisara looks out the window to glance at the punching bag still wedged in the wall, {Whoops. Forgot to hide that.} She sighs unable to come up with an excuse, "I was just training."
Stanton moves her bag and sits in the opposite chair. "Training for what?! I don't think you've stopped since the tournament ended!"
She straightens up in her seat and logs onto Al's computer. Her desktop opens on his computer, and she checks the systems. "I will continue to train as often as possible. I'm not letting anything happen to Mokuba or any of you moving forward. I need to stay on my toes so that can happen."
Stanton looks at her with pity, "Kisara, what happened back there was not your fault. You did all you could."
Kisara looks away from her screen to reply, "Tell that to Seto." She checks the calendar and sees an event called 'Al's Check Up'.
"But you two are best friends."
She sighs, "I'm not sure anymore." She looks at him physically and emotionally tired, "I-I don't want to leave."
Stanton stands in his chair, "Wait, are you leaving?!"
She looks at him annoyed and tired, "I just said I don't want to. Relax." She sighs, "If Seto is still mad at me though…" She changes her sentence, "I guess I should just keep my head down around here, like everyone else."
"He is your boss! Not only that, but I think you two would be nice together. You can't keep avoiding him forever."
She gets up from her seat suddenly angry by what he said. She grabs her bag from the floor and says coldly, "Watch me." She walks towards the door, "Have the boys run through some drills today before starting their shifts. You are in charge for a bit. I'm going to Al's appointment with Akira."
She leaves while Stanton replies to himself, "Yes ma'am."
Al's Check Up-
After stopping by the locker rooms to take a shower, Kisara is now changed and exiting Kaiba Corp. She is wearing tight pants, a cropped jacket and a utility belt with some sticks that can also be weapons. She clicks her heels which causes wheels to appear out of the bottom of her shoes. She starts to skate gracefully down towards Domino City General. Once she arrives, she greets the women at the front desk, "Hi ladies! How are you doing today?"
They smile warmly, "We are great Kisara!" She gets up from her desk, "Here let me get the elevator for you."
Kisara looks at her apologetically, "Oh no please! You have been working hard all day."
The nurse pushes the button for her, "No way missy! You are so sweet every time you come to visit, so I am happy to." Kisara skates into the elevator as it arrives. She turns her skates back to shoes and fumbles in her bag. She emerges with three nicely wrapped packages for each nurse.
"Well, let me hand you these!" The doors close while she extends her arms to give her the gift.
The nurse looks at her in awe, "You-you did not have to do that!"
Kisara lifts her hand to her ear as the doors close, "Sorry can't hear you! Doors closing!" She laughs while she hears the nurses' screams on the other side. Their screams start to fade while the elevator travels up. She reaches Al's floor and walks to his room. She knocks lightly before entering. Al is in his hospital bed while Akira holds his hand. Akira smiles when she sees Kisara. "Hi guys. Can I come in?" Kisara asks.
Akira waves for her to come in, "Yes, please! How are you dear?"
Kisara fumbles through her bag while she walks up to Al's bed, "It's funny, I was going to ask your husband that." She turns to Al, "How are you feeling? I got this for you today. Doctor approved!" She places a package on his bed table while she hands another to Akira. "I have one for you too. It must be hard to see him like this."
Akira speaks to her excitedly, "He is doing well!"
Al chuckles, "I apparently have you to thank for that."
Kisara shakes her head, "The team followed the plan we had in place. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have been able to get to you in time."
He smiles, "Always so humble."
Akira takes her gift, "You don't have to do this every time you visit!"
Kisara shrugs, "It's habit. I've been bringing them to the hospital workers too. I figured if one of us gets hurt again they will treat us like VIPs in the future!"
Al smiles, "How is Seto?"
She tries to change the subject, "What did the doctor say?"
Akira falls for it and replies, "He gave the best news! He said Al can go home tomorrow! They tried to run every test under the sun but couldn't find out what helped him get better. We have you to thank."
Al goes back to the subject, "Kisara, did something happen between you and Seto?" Kisara looks away at the window behind him while Al's eyes narrow, "What did he do?" She looks back at him, "I saw him grow up and I know him. He said something that hurt you, didn't he?" Kisara opens her mouth to answer when they hear the elevator door ding.
At the same time, the doctor walks in, "Hi Kisara! Did Al give you the good news?"
She smiles, "Yes doc! So, he is going home tomorrow?"
"Yes! He is good as new!"
Kisara opens her mouth, but Mokuba runs past her and replies instead, "That is great Al! You can go home!" She looks in shock at Mokuba while he greets Akira and Al. She avoids the temptation to turn around knowing Seto is behind her. Seto walks past and glances at her for a second. He then turns away right when she looks back. Their eyes never meet.
"That's good." He chimes in. Mokuba looks at Seto and Kisara who are in the same room for the first time in a while. Kisara suddenly grabs her backpack and takes out a large, wrapped box with smaller boxes individual wrapped inside, visible because of the clear case on top.
She walks past Seto to approach the doctor, "I have to get back to work. Would you mind handing this out to his nurse team? They have been so nice." The doctor looks at her shocked, "You all work so hard. It's our way of saying thank you."
"Thank you! This will make a lot of people happy!" She nods curtly and walks past Seto again, this time looking at him. He looks back not saying anything.
After a couple seconds without a word, she glances at Mokuba, "Hi buddy."
"H-Hi Kisara." Mokuba says awkwardly. She walks out the door and toward the elevators. Seto stands in the room looking at the ground.
Al waits until Kisara is gone before asking sternly, "What happened?"
Seto replies coldly, "Nothing."
Mokuba steps in, "He got mad at her and won't apologize."
Seto looks at him angry, "Mokuba!"
Al sits up in his bed, "Seto, I'm only going to say this once, so you better listen." Seto looks at him with attitude. He takes his wife's hand who smiles, "This is my person."
Seto replies sarcastically, "I know Al."
Al points to the elevators, "I knew the second I saw you two together, that she is your person too." Seto looks away, "I don't even know what you said, but I already know it doesn't matter. You need to apologize before you lose her." Seto looks back at him furious of the thought, "She isn't like your other employees you can boss around. You will lose her and miss your chance. Don't be stupid." Seto is about to blow up at him but instead he slumps in a chair and exhales saying nothing.
Nightmares-
A couple weeks go by, Kisara and Seto have still not spoken. Kisara wakes up in the middle of the night screaming. She holds a hand to her head and plays her forehead like a piano. After catching her breath, she exhales and walks out of her bedroom to her kitchen. She makes hot water and grabs a tea bag ready once it's boiling. After it's done, she instead looks at her upper cabinet. Abandoning the tea, she reaches for a bottle of wine and pours herself a glass. She starts to drink while looking around at how empty her apartment is. {I miss them. I moved here because I wanted to find my family. I guess it was too good to be true.} She grunts and looks down at the necklace Seto gave her right before the Battle City Tournament. It hangs around her neck; she hasn't had the courage to take it off. She opens it to look at the picture inside. The three of them are under the tree at the orphanage, smiling. She takes it off and puts it on the kitchen counter. {I can't live like this. What if he won't say anything to me again? I've messed it up, like my other families. I always mess it up.} She closes her eyes and remembers the dream she woke up from. Seto is holding her and Mokuba is running towards them to join in the hug. Dream Seto suddenly let's go of her and waves goodbye while she suddenly falls through the floor. She lands at the bottom of a huge mountain impossible to climb. She wants to cry, she wants to scream, but all she can do is climb. She opens her eyes, {I have to leave. If he doesn't want me here, I don't want to say.} She chugs the rest of her wine and walks back to the bedroom, closing the door behind her. After a couple minutes, she opens it again, grabs the necklace off the kitchen counter. Then goes back to bed. {I can't let go. But I'll respect Seto if he wants to.}
Up to something-
4 days later, Kisara is going over with Haru contingency plans where he can step in and do something she would normally handle. She holds out 5 booklets she wrote. "These are detailed instructions for you that could help you if I'm not here."
Haru looks at her confused, "Why were you working on these?"
She shrugs, "I just like to have our bases covered." He looks at her unimpressed with her lies, "Anyway, I'm actually going to head out early!"
Haru looks up surprised, "Really? But you never leave early!"
Kisara is already up and going for the door with her things, "I-I wanted to avoid Seto on the way out today, so I made an appointment at home as an excuse to leave earlier. Have to be there for the cleaners. Bye!" Haru watches her go.
"You can't avoid him forever."
She turns back briefly to respond, "I can try," She walks out the door and toward the elevators.
{That was… weird.} Haru decides to make his way to the elevators. He presses the button for Seto's floor. He walks down the hall toward his office. Once he is in front of the doors, he hesitates, then knocks.
He hears Seto's voice on the other side, "Come in." He walks in timidly and Seto sees him, "What do you want?"
He builds some courage and approaches, "Mr. Kaiba, I have a feeling that you should talk to Kisara."
Seto leans back in his chair frustrated, "You too? I already get enough from Mokuba."
Haru shakes his head, "This is different, I just have a feeling you should see her, right now."
Seto is intrigued, but his face is irate, "Why should I do that?"
"I don't think she has slept well. Stanton has caught her asleep in Al's office when he arrives for his shift. She stays up training in security all night after checking the cameras. She has been doing it every night since the Battle City tournament ended." Seto listens to Haru shocked, "Today, she showed me back up plans in case she isn't here, then she went home early." Seto's eyes widen, "I think she is up to something."
He gets up from his chair quickly, "Thank you Haru, I must go." He walks out his office door and leaves Kaiba Corp.
Please-
Seto arrives at Kisara's apartment in the company limo sometime later. Parked out front is a moving truck. He gets out the company car and frantically runs up the stairs past a pair of movers carrying a shelf. They shout, "Hey! Watch It!" He makes it to the top of the stairs, breathing heavily when he sees inside. Most of the shelves along the walls are gone and the only thing that remains in the apartment living room is the couch. Kisara stands with her back to the front door; she holds a clip board next to a pile of pizza boxes for the movers on the kitchen counter.
"Kisara," She turns around to see Seto standing in the doorway. The movers freeze, feeling the tension. They stare at each other for a couple minutes, Kisara hurt and Seto angry. He commands the movers, "Everyone out, NOW!" The movers leave one by one while Kisara turns around facing him with her arms crossed. When the last one leaves, Seto closes the door behind him.
"I'm busy." She says strongly.
"I can tell." He eyes the boxes on the floor. "When were you going to tell me?" He starts to walk towards her. She turns away from him and walks to the kitchen.
She starts to put glasses from her overhead cabinet into a box, "Now you want to talk?" The comment stabs Seto like a knife to the chest. "I was going to tell you, after I left."
"And what about Mokuba?" He asks, enraged. She turns to him matching his anger. Furious for bringing up Mokuba.
"It is clear you don't want me here anymore." She starts to list reasons, "I came here looking for you, I moved here for you, I wanted to spend time with you," She pauses while Seto is at a loss for words, "-And-and Mokuba too." Her head twitches from her lies, he reaches for her, but she swats his hand away. "No. I'm going to be honest. I'm here because of YOU, OKAY? I-I missed you." She throws her hands up in the air while her face turns red, "I only wanted stay if I wasn't a bother." She gets louder with every word and starts to yell and step forward, unafraid. Admitting her feelings was embarrassing, but it was too late to turn back now. "I put all my fears and anger aside and I worked up the courage to tell you. I moved all the way out here. Which, let's be honest, is super weird. I know it's super weird!" He steps closer to her and stands right in front of her. She gets quiet and fiddles with the necklace he gave her. Despite how she feels, she hasn't built up the courage to take it off, "I didn't realize why I wanted to find you, until you gave me this. You said back then that we were family. I came here looking for a family. It's all I ever wanted." She clicks open the locket to look at their picture inside. All three of them, under the orchid tree. She quickly shuts it and looks at him with resolve and tears forming in her eyes, "But I have been rejected before and I know the signs when someone wants me gone. I've clearly pissed you off, and I'm sick of being in your way."
{In my way?} He asks, "Do you really think that?"
"What else am I supposed to think? You have never been that angry at me before. I've taken the hint." She tries to turn away again, but Seto grabs her arm and gently pulls her towards him. She keeps her head down not looking at him to say, "I've disappointed you. I couldn't keep Mokuba safe. And I'm sorry." He quickly hugs her, catching her off guard.
She lands with her ear to his chest in shock. She hears his words through his chest with it ringing in her ears, "Kisara, I should have never said that. Of course I trust you."
She pushes him away, "No you don't!" She stands her ground. Seto is stunned at seeing her confidence. He has been avoiding this conversation for weeks but she has no problem telling how she feels. People typically don't speak to him this directly. Or if they do, he ignores them and doesn't care. But with Kisara, she is putting him in his place and he doesn't want to admit it, but he likes it. "You have kept me at arm's length ever since that day!"
He replies blankly, "I only did that because you kept avoiding me."
She pauses for a moment realizing he is right, "Maybe! But that was because of you in the first place!"
He takes both of her hands and brings them to his chest, "I know, I'm sorry. Please, you can't leave."
Her look softens when she realizes he means it, "Wait, really? Why didn't you say this before?"
"I've been trying to find the words to apologize this whole time. I-" He looks at her trying to find the words. They fail him and he leans forward to rest his head on her shoulder. The bridge of his nose rests on her shoulder while he breathes, "I'm an idiot." She blushes but continues to listen, "I'm so sorry, Kisara. Please don't go." Tears start to fill in her eyes. He lifts his head and sees as tears streak down her cheeks.
He puts a hand under her chin and wipes her tears with his thumb. Shocked by his touch, she stumbles through the words, "I- Do you mean it?" She asks.
He looks at her committed, "Yes, please stay. I'm asking you to stay. Not just for Mokuba, but for me." She sharply inhales and starts to cry, she tries to look down again but Seto delicately holds her head in place. Her emotions release in that moment, all at once while he continues. "You are important to me." He watches her blink out tears, trying to keep her composure. He uses his arm to wrap around her waist and hold her tight. Pulling her closer, he continues to wipe away some of her tears. "You don't always have to be so strong, you know?"
Despite her tears, she tries to sounds confident while saying, "I do." Her voice cracks, betraying her.
Seto furrows his brows, "Not when you are with me. You allowed to be vulnerable with me." More tears pool out of her eyes and she begins to heave out her tears. He keeps wiping them away while she closes her eyes. Her skin crawls each time his thumb grazes her cheek. Her body isn't used to it, but she wants more. He continues, "You are the most important thing to me, my dragon." He moves his hand up to hold the back of her neck, placing his thumb right behind her ear. She feels his large hand pull her face closer. Hearing his nick name for her helps her feel grounded. It has been a long time since she heard it. She never liked it when people used it in Egypt. They used it as a name of death or evil. But when he says it, it sounds different. It sounds right. She gives in and lets him guide her face towards his. Their noses touch as Seto starts to breath heavily. He feels a primal urge. Being this close after all this time confirms another thing he has been avoiding. He wants her. In fact, he needs her. Her mind is blank as their lips are about to touch. Suddenly the door swings open. A mover with headphones busts in unaware of what is inside. Seto releases his hand and they both pull away. Kisara's face is no longer close but she holds Seto's body tighter, trying to hide from the man behind Seto's tall figure. Seto turns his head to glare at the mover behind him. The mover still doesn't notice them, proceeds to grab a large box on the floor and carry it to the door. Seto looks back down at Kisara. He is holding her in his arms but she now leans back against his wrists. While sitting upright, he notices dark bags under her eyes. He isn't sure if it is because of the crying or lack of sleep. Worried, he commands with a straight face, "Go to the car." She looks up at him, tired. "There is a car outside, go wait for me there."
"But-" she gestures to the mover.
"I'll take care of everything else. I've done this to you, and I'll fix it. Just go, I'll be there in a moment." Kisara goes through all the thoughts in her head. How she was determined to move, hired movers, already sold a lot of her furniture, all while working for him and keeping it a secret.
{What do you want Kisara?} She asks herself, thinking. {Ignore the emotional roller coaster, do you want to stay?}
Seto places his hand on her cheek and gently starts to brush his thumb across her cheek again. "Please."
{Yup. I'm staying, and I'm in trouble.} Shocked, she walks out the door, down the stairs, past the movers, and into the private car on the road outside her apartment. Seto watches her from the stairs then gestures for the movers to enter.
Once inside, he addresses them, "Put everything back where you found it. Money is no obstacle."
Downstairs, Kisara waits in the car with both her hands on her cheeks. She sits frozen staring at a spot in the car. {What-What just happened? How can I be so upset with him one moment, then the next …}
"Kisara! Did you and the boss man work it out?" She snaps out of her thoughts and sees Roland looking at her in the rearview mirror.
She takes her hands off her face and looks outside the window, watching while Seto approaches the car, "I-I think so Roland."
Seto climbs into the car, and commands Roland, "Take us home." Roland starts the engine and puts the car in drive. He tries to watch them from the rearview, but Seto rolls up the divider while glaring at him. Once they are alone, he turns to Kisara, "Are you okay?"
She looks back, feeling exposed somehow, "Um, yes. I'm just tired from organizing and packing. I-I'm sorry, I kind of overloaded on you-" Now that she knows how he feels, she feels ridiculous for saying all those things.
"Kisara, you don't have to apologize. This was all my fault. I will never speak to you like that again. I'm glad you decided to stay." He looks at her relieved while she smiles softly. {She needs to rest.} He decides to help by pulling her by her arms over to his side of the seat. Her feet are pulled off the floor, but she doesn't resist. Her body goes limp from the shock of his actions. The whole day has left her utterly exhausted.
He stops pulling when he sees her reaction to ask, "Can I hold you, like the first night?" She looks at him shocked, "You can say no; but because of me I almost lost you again. The first night we were reunited, I know you were embarrassed to ask." His voice gets lower, "But you weren't the only one who wanted to share a bed. You just had the courage to say it. I didn't."
"Really?" Learning this fact is too much. Before, she thought they were only best friends. Since being reunited, she has tried to ignore that felt something more toward him. But learning this means he might actually feel the same, {Does he...?}
Ignoring her question, he asks again, pulling her away from her thoughts, "Can I?" She debates for a moment, then nods. He swings his legs on the seat. She watches internally screaming as they land next to her. He pulls her again, this time moving her over his right leg, so she is in between both. She starts to go dizzy from the butterflies in her stomach. He leans back against the left rear door of the car and stretches out his body comfortably. Her body reclines with him as the back of her head sinks into his chest. She starts to close her eyes while he wraps his arms around her. His wrists cross on her stomach while she feels herself sink into his touch. The limo rattles slightly while they continue to get closer to Seto's penthouse. Seto watches her the whole time. He can only see the top of her head and holds her tighter while quietly smelling her shampoo. He feels like he should say more. After a couple minutes, he works up the courage to ask, "Kisara?" Her eyes open again, and she twists her head so she can look at him while he talks.
"Hm?" Her body barely shifts, so she can lean against the back of the seats. Her large breasts lightly bounce along with her. Seto keeps a cool face while trying to hold it in his impulsive thoughts.
"I am used to speaking to people in certain way. The way I spoke to you, before. Usually, people fall in line or don't bother me. But you aren't like the others, you are one of the only people who is honest with me. You see me as Seto not Kaiba." He pauses, "I promise to never speak to you that way. I'm sorry."
She smiles, "I forgive you." Seto exhales, relieved she forgave him so quickly. She turns on her side cautiously and lays her head back on his chest. The side of her head finds a comfortable spot while she reaches for him with one of her hands. He tries to stay calm as she lightly presses her fingers feeling his chest, then closes her eyes. After watching her for a little, he leans his head back against the door and also closes his eyes. They lay that way in the car all the way to Seto's penthouse. After some time, the car stops. Seto looks out the window, seeing they arrived and gently wakes her up. He watches as her eyes flutter open and widen at him watching her. She gets flushed while he smiles and gets up. He gently places her on the opposite seat and opens the door. He exits the limo then goes around to her side and opens the door for her. Sleepy and blushing, she gets out and walks with him to his building. When they arrive at the door, Seto has his arm wrapped around Kisara's waist. Her heart and head is pounding from the contact as she leans her body against his to stand. She liked the idea of only being vulnerable when with him. Truthfully, there have been instances where that is the case anyway. Like the time she broke down while watching the simulation of their separation at the orphanage. Back then, he hugged her tight while she cried. Even after Gaming Playground INC attacked them and tried to hurt Seto. She saved the day, but in the end he was the one holding her while she rested from the fight. Now, her head rests on his chest due to his tall height. It reminds her of when they were kids under that tree.
He coughs a little to get her attention as she looks up tired. He keeps his hold around her waist while asking, "Are you ready?" She nods, "You can stay here as long as you need. The movers told me they should be done with your apartment in a couple days."
She breathes deep and says, "Thank you for arranging all of that."
Seto puts the key in the door and turns it, "It was the least I can do. You had to hire them because of me." Kisara feels guilty while Seto is resolved and determined to make things right moving forward. She was always braver than he was especially with her emotions. She had the courage to tell him how she felt and what would happen if he didn't own up to his actions. Normally he doesn't have to face consequences, but he was grateful he caught her before it was too late. He opens the door, and they walk inside. Mokuba is in his room but peeks out, expecting to see Seto. He is surprised to see both Seto and Kisara in the hall. Mokuba runs out to give her a hug.
"Kisara!" After their embrace, he looks up at her and sees her eyes are puffy. Seto goes to the kitchen and turns on the sink. Kisara gives Mokuba a smile, but it doesn't hide her fatigue or swaying body. "Are you okay?" Kisara doesn't want to respond. All she wants, is to lay down.
As if reading her mind, Seto answers for her from the kitchen, "She is staying here for a couple days." He walks over with a warm wet rag which he places on her forehead. She looks at him shocked, "Hold this." He takes her hand and brings it to her forehead to hold the rag in place. "Go to the couch. I'll set up your bed." She nods slowly and starts to wobble to the couch. He notices her struggling, and instead chooses to link her arm with his. "Here, I got you." He says reassuringly as he guides her to the couch. A moment like this would usually send her heart reeling, but she was too tired to process it. Her eyes already start to close while he slowly leans her down to the couch.
"So, you two made up?" Mokuba asks while Seto pulls a blanket over her. She lays long ways across the couch.
Seto answers for Kisara again, "I apologized. She forgave me." He walks down the hall and speaks to Mokuba while pointing at the couch, "Keep an eye on her." Mokuba nods and rushes to sit on the couch with Kisara. Once he makes it, he sees she is already asleep and repositions the rag on her head. Meanwhile, Seto walks to the guest bedroom with sheets in hand to make her bed.
Sounds Fair-
Kisara wakes up in the middle of the night after sleeping most of the afternoon. She feels groggy at first, but then feels some of her energy slowly returning after her nap. Mokuba is nowhere to be found while Seto sits in a chair in front of the TV. She looks at the TV clock and sees it is 2am. The windows are dark, and stars are in the sky. He faces her in the chair and appears to have been watching her at one point. Now his eyes are closed, and he is slumped with his arms folded in the chair. She wonders why he chose to sit in the chair instead of joining her on the couch. She moves slowly to sit up, hoping to not wake him, but also not having enough energy to do so faster. "What are you doing?" Her hair stands on the back of her neck when she hears Seto's voice.
His eyes are now open and staring at her. He is still sitting in the same position as before, "You're awake?" She asks quietly. She struggles a little until she feels Seto's large hands help her sit up. She lets him, feeling used to his touch at this point and wanting it more.
"Yes, I was watching you."
"Well, that isn't creepy at all." She regrets the joke as soon as she says it, because in truth she didn't think it was. Seto doesn't care either way and smiles at her. She traces his features with her eyes. She hasn't seen his face smile like that in a long time. She missed it.
"You needed to rest. I wanted to make sure you weren't woken up." He stands from the chair to stretch. She watches him as he offers, "You can move to the bedroom. I made the bed for you."
"Th-thank you. Truthfully, I feel very awake now."
He chuckles, "You slept for 12 hours so, that makes sense."
"I'm going to watch some TV. You must be tired. I'm sorry you stayed up all this time." Seto instead gets up from the chair and sits on the opposite side of the couch. "Oh, you can go to bed if you want! You must be tired."
He looks at her like her question is ridiculous. "I would rather stay up with you than go to bed any night. Besides, we have a lot to catch up on." He hands her the remote while she looks at his offer skeptically. They always fought over the remote. Not having a fair challenge and having him hand it to her seems wrong. He answers what she is thinking, "It's the least I can do."
"Y-you don't have to keep making it up to me. First the movers, then the place to stay, and now the remote?!" She jokingly exclaims, "I'm just glad we are back to normal." She fiddles with the remote and navigates on the screen. He watches her expression get ruffled which makes him smile.
"I think I'll keep doing it. It clearly makes you all flustered." She glares at him which makes him smile bigger. "Just try to pick something decent." He jokes.
An hour later, a movie is playing in the background. Kisara chose a romantic comedy solely because it would piss Seto off. He isn't bothered and watches Kisara while she talks. "I can't wait for Al to come back. I don't mind keeping the security team in check, but I have a lot on my plate. I want to spend more time in research." She gestures wildly with her hands while sitting up, cross legged on the couch. "Before I had to take over, I was just about to launch into a study on how we can update our animations so people who were colorblind could still see a contrast in colors for our monsters. It might be a small update, but if we knock it out then we can be more accessible to others and move on to bigger things. But I don't have the time until Al comes back." She chuckles, "To be honest, the guards would prefer he comes back. I run them a little ragged."
Seto gives her an evil grin, "Good." He is quiet for a moment while Kisara leans back, raising her hands far above her head to stretch. She then interlaces her fingers behind her head and gets comfortable. As she starts to feel comfortable, Seto instead feels guilt wash over him, "I gave you more work, then ignored you for weeks. I can't tell you how sorry I am."
"Seto it's okay." She breathes, "I'm sorry for avoiding you too-"
"You didn't. I got mad at you, and you reacted normally. I'm just glad you agreed to stay." His expression is grave and regretful.
She watches his eyes look down at the ground. She tries to reassure him, "Hey, it's okay." He maintains his gaze, so she tries to think of a way to fix it. "Seto listen; I'll forget everything on one condition."
He looks up and agrees immediately, "Okay, what is it?"
She gives him an evil smile, "If you speak to me like that again, I get to talk back. In true 'dragon' style." He smirks, "And you can do nothing about it."
"Sounds fair. Good thing it will never happen again. I promise."
Cleaning Crew-
Kisara is woken up to a knock at the door. She blinks her eyes open and looks around. Her room looks the same as always. On her desk are favors from a work party. Her favorite snacks, duel monster cards and candy are sprawled across her desk. She slowly rises and sits up with her knees hanging over the edge of the bed. It was a week after Seto apologized to her. Kisara, Seto and Mokuba are back to spending every day together. Kaiba Corp employees have been happier with Seto's mood improved. Al also returned to work so Kisara is back in cyber security and research. Things are back to normal, but the relationship between Kisara and Seto is elevated. They still act as best friends, but Seto continues to go out of his way to see or help her. He did grand gestures to make it up to her. Her heart raced each day from the attention and surprise. He made big changes in Kaiba Corp's structure and arranged work events causing morale to be raised. Coincidentally, all the favors and theming were Kisara'a favorite. Kaiba Corp Family Picnic in the park was the first event and was a smashing success. While it was Seto's idea, Mokuba clearly brought a lot to the table. Seto also gifted Kisara with a recording studio to pair with an initiative to fund the arts in schools. Several local schools were scheduled to visit each month. Seto enjoyed seeing Kisara happy and, most of all, frazzled. Kisara just enjoyed seeing him, no longer being apart. Today was Saturday. She told him the day before she couldn't stay the night because she had to clean over the weekend. He frowned at her answer, but accepted it. She is pulled out of her thoughts when the knocking at the door repeats. "Ugh." She grumbles at the interruption of Seto's face in her mind. She throws on a three piece set: lounge pants, knitted tank top, and light jacket. The knocking continues faster and louder while she stomps into her slippers. They are fuzzy clog shaped slip ons with an image of the Blue Eyes White Dragon on top. "Jesus." She throws open her door and subconsciously clips her bangs back behind her head. "I'm coming!" The knocking continues, "I'M COMING." The knocking stops after hearing her distorted and angry tone through the door. She throws it open and is faced with Seto and Mokuba in the doorway. Mokuba beams at her while Seto wears his signature frown. Behind them is a cleaning crew of about 8 people. The group makes it inside her apartment before she has a chance to react. By the time her anger catches up with her, Seto is lightly pushing her out the door. He has her bag and his hand is placed on the small of her back. Mokuba runs ahead to the bathroom before they head out. Kisara spins around and pushes Seto. He doesn't resist and takes a casual step back while she yells, "What is going on here?"
Seto grins, "I hired a cleaning crew. Now you can spend time with me." He doesn't even try to acknowledge Mokuba.
Kisara tries to finish his sentence, "And Mokuba. Right?"
Seto only shrugs as if to say, 'Why not?'
Her face turns a deep red, "I have a system. I'm capable of doing my own cleaning!"
"Or..." He draws out the word until he has her full attention, "We could get breakfast."
She considers her options, "They better have chocolate chip pancakes."
Seto huffs at her command, "Understood." He pretends to do a military salute while Kisara rolls her eyes.
Kisara turns to go back to her bedroom, "And I'm going back to change. These are pajamas."
"I think you look great." Kisara turns to flip Seto off before disappearing behind her bedroom doorway. He just stands in the kitchen with his arms folded, smiling. He hears Kisara 'shoo' out a couple cleaners before closing her door.
The Flyer-
One day at Kaiba Corp, Kisara is working in her office and Seto in his. Kisara gets up to go somewhere. She locks her office door before leaving and Haru notices. {Why did she lock her office? She never locks it, open door policy my ass} He opens his drawer and takes out a spare key to her office. He waits until she is in the elevator and then opens the door with the key. The office is clean and there is nothing to note at first. He goes behind the desk and sees the computer monitor off, but the computer not locked. He turns on the monitor to reveal a flyer. He reads in his head {Rock Show with Kisara Oatani. Writer of songs from Treasure Biome and more. Wait? She wrote a song for Treasure Biome? I love that movie!} He quickly forwards the email to himself, turns off the monitor, leaves the office and locks the door behind her. The moment he sits down, the elevator door opens and Kisara walks back. He assumed she went to visit Seto, but apparently she just grabbed a soda from the vending machines on the floor above. He watches in shock. {If I was in there longer, she totally would have caught me!} She holds snacks in her hand and goes back into her office. Haru proceeds to forward the email to everyone.
"Hi Boss!" Haru is walking into Seto's Office at the end of the day smiling. Seto looks up at him for a second, then looks back down at his computer. "Guess what?" He says enthusiastically.
Seto gives him an evil smirk, "There is a new company policy where you can barge into my office whenever you want?"
Haru wags a finger at him as Seto frowns, "No-no-no boss!" Haru says confidently. "You will not get mad at me because I have something you want."
Seto raises an eyebrow, "What could you possibly have that I want?" He asks leaning back in this chair.
Haru places two hands on his desk and leans forward confidentially, "Did you know that Kisara sings?" Seto's face gets gravely serious, "Did you get an email from someone today? I tried to forward it to everyone, but I might have missed you." Seto shakes his head.
"She is performing at a bar tonight downtown!"
Seto thinks to yourself, {I was planning to go alone, but it will be funnier to see her embarrassed by everyone being there.} "Did you go through her things?"
His question gives away his lack of surprise which Mokuba picks up on. Mokuba exclaims from the couches, "Seto, did you know?"
Haru gasps, "You could have given us a heads up!"
Seto folds his arms, "It's none of your business."
Haru speaks to Mokuba, "All I know is, I found a flyer on her computer, and it looks like she has a set at the Sunrise tonight! Did you know she is an established rock musician!" Seto types furiously on his computer. He didn't realize she made a living off of it. He only thought she did it for fun. "She wrote a song for Treasure Biome!"
Mokuba runs over from the couches in Seto's office. "I love that movie!"
"Me too!" Haru replies excitedly.
Seto looks at her rap sheet online, {I didn't know she was this big.}
"Can we go Seto? Please?" Mokuba begs. Seto looks away from his screen which has credits for her songs on it. He picks up the phone.
"Pull around every limo and private car we have. We are taking the office downtown."
Haru squeals, "I'll let everyone know before they leave!"
Rock and Roll-
Kisara is playing the end of a song in the side alley of the Sunrise bar on an electric guitar. They play a final chord together and then stop. "Thank you guys soooooo much!" She emphasizes. "This song is way better with a full band and it's gonna rock!" They all laugh and smile.
The drummer next to her smiles back at her, "No problem! The song rocks! We love your work. Seriously anytime." They start to collect their instruments and open the side door to walk into the bar. "See you in there! We will set everything up, so we can walk up when you are ready."
She beams, "Thank you guys so much!" When they all leave, she sighs and stands in the alley alone, thinking. A figure with a trench coat and sunglasses, peeks around the corner. She exhales loudly and grips her white and light blue electric guitar. "Let's do this." She then opens the side door and walks in. The figure in the trench coat dials a number on his phone.
"Now! She's inside about to start!" 8 Kaiba Crop private vehicles pull up in front of the bar. Multiple people exit chatting excitedly. Haru exits out of a limo and walks up to the person in the trench coat. Scarlet lifts her head in the outfit and claps her hands excitedly. Seto exits the limo after Haru.
"Let's go." He says to the people, loudly. Kisara has built up enough courage to walk on stage when Mokuba loudly kicks open the door at the bar. She stands in place frozen as she watches Seto, Haru, the Kaiba Corp office and their families walk in.
"What…. The … fuck…" She whispers to herself as the patrons of the bar who are not from Kaiba Corp stare at her confused. She walks towards the mic and says apologetically, "Sorry everyone for the language. I am just shocked because I am looking at every member of my office right now and I did not tell anyone I was performing here today." Others chuckle in the crowd while Haru yells so everyone can here.
"She left the flyer in her office."
"My LOCKED office!" She gestures to Haru in the crowd, "Ladies and gentlemen, the culprit!"
"That's right!" yells Mokuba. Kisara sighs and face palms on stage.
Kisara looks directly at Seto, unable to gawk at his presence. He smiles back. "Okay-okay-okay that is my boss." The crowd erupts into laughter as she evenly continues to reassure herself on stage. "Everything is FINE." She starts to strum her guitar. "Everyone I am just going to launch into it before I keep freezing on stage." She waits as the laughter dies down to perform: "I'm still here" by John Rzeznik (yes that is a real song, kill me). The normal patrons at the bar listen and enjoy her voice. While the people next to them watch in awe knowing her so well. Scarlet is crying, Haru has his phone light on and is waiving it back and forth, Mokuba is copying Haru, and Seto is listening. She gradually builds up the song towards the end and once it's done, everyone cheers. She continues her set singing 3 more songs.
"Okay everyone. We are in the home stretch." Everyone has settled into the bar. Some people ordered food, some grabbed drinks, and Seto is sitting at a high top watching her perform. Mokuba is diving into chicken wings next to him. Kisara sighs and rolls her eyes, "I'm going to be honest. This song is written about someone here." Seto's eyes widen while Haru yells drunkenly in the background,
"YEAH! Let's hear the Seto song!"
"Thank you, Haru! This is great, just great," she comments dryly. "Bartender please don't serve him anymore." Everyone in the bar laughs while Kisara fans her pits on stage. Seto's eyes are glued to her while she can't bear to look back at him. "The best part is, I can't take it off the set list, because I got other people involved." She gestures to the side of the stage, "Ladies and Gentlemen, please welcome to the stage Dustin, Clay, and Fluke!" Everyone claps while Mokuba bumps Seto in the arm.
"Hey big bro! You should get closer!"
"Shut up Mokuba." He utters without taking an eye on Kisara. Mokuba beams at him with buffalo sauce all over her face.
"Okay everyone, yes this song is written …" she sighs into the mic, "about Seto Kaiba." Haru screams in the back of the bar while everyone laughs. "Okay, I'm looking around and this is actually my worst nightmare." The crowd cracks up in unison. Kisara is putting on a brave face and joking to work through her feelings. She is actually very nervous and feels trapped. She hears Seto's voice cut through the crowd.
He yells. "Everyone shut up." Kisara lifts her head up slightly, and everyone is staring at Seto who sits in his chair with his arms folded.
She holds her guitar and smiles at him. She tries to go back to feeling she had when she wrote the song, "I met Seto when we were kids, and he was the smartest kid at our…." she pauses to come up with a lie, "school,"
"Don't lie" Seto yells from his seat. Kisara and everyone look at him. She reads his expression. It says she doesn't have to lie for him.
She smiles softly and tries again, "He was the smartest at our orphanage." When she finishes that sentence, everyone looks at Seto. Everyone knows who he is in this city. His employees thought he was a snot nosed rich kid, not an orphan. "I was second best at chess there, but when he walked in, he beat the number 1 in three moves!" Kisara could say how he beat his adoptive father at a game and won him and Mokuba financial security. But she moved on, "Meeting him as an adult, I know he changed." Seto's heart sinks for a second, but she elaborates. She starts to smile, "Now, he is strong and badass like when we were kids, and now he is tall; folks he is 6''1' that is crazy!" People chuckle in the crowd. "He still does everything for his little brother," Mokuba smiles and tears up, "and he is the most competitive person I know. So, this one is for him" She quickly starts to strum the guitar slowly (You're Not Me by Marty Bags) as the other instruments join her and slowly crescendo in union. Then Kisara plays a chord, holds it for a moment, then signals the other instruments to follow. They continue with an upbeat tempo while Kisara sings lyrics:
You think I've got it all, everyone thinks I've got it made well
How come my only friends are the ones I pick
Her and the guitarist play three chords in unison to the melody as people go down to the dance floor. Seto listens to the lyrics:
No one understands what I would do to change my life for just one day.
He tears up listening while everyone joins on the dance floor. She finishes the song and takes a bow.
Paper Napkin
Kisara is surrounded by people once her set is over. She is standing next to a small table with CDs of the set songs. Seto and Mokuba wait until the crowd dissipates while the rest of the band watches her from the stage. The guitarist is raising his eyebrows repeatedly at the drummer who shakes his head, "Bro I got the feeling from the crowd that her and Seto Kaiba like each other." He packs up his drum set, "Like THE Seto Kaiba. The super mean, super rich, child protégé? Ring any bells?"
The guitarist shakes his head, "No dude, I heard from those suits that she is single! He won't make a move! So, I will!" He says while rubbing his hands together. The drummer rolls his eyes and leaves it alone. Meanwhile, Seto looks at his brother.
"Let's go Mokuba." They get up from the table and make their way over to her. He watches her shake hands, then meet the next person in front of her with a big smile. She suddenly looks up and sees him walk above the crowd. A moment of relief appears on her face instead of a smile that now seemed fake. She does a small wave above the crowds' heads and smiles genuinely. He smiles back, picks up Mokuba and puts him on his shoulders. Mokuba is screaming the lyrics to the last song due to a sugar rush. They walk closer to her as she happily anticipates their arrival. Suddenly she feels a tap on her shoulder and turns around. The guitarist from behind is leaning close to her with his hand propped up on the wall. He doesn't stay in that position for long because Kisara grabs the hand he tapped her with, and twists it until he is on his knees.
"Oh shit!" Her eyes pop open and she lets go, "I'm so sorry. I didn't realize it was you."
He collects his dignity and tries to say cooly, "I like a woman who can defend herself." Kisara's face twists into disgust which distracts her as he grabs her arm tight.
"Um, ow?" Her eyes flash prepared to kick his teeth in. Before she has the chance, Seto steps between them. The guitarist lets go as Kisara tries to hear what is being said. However, Mokuba blocks her while still on Seto's back.
"Hi Kisara! You were awesome!" He says cheerfully. Kisara smiles and pinches his cheek.
"Thanks, Mokuba." She says, as he laughs, "Can you stop laughing please? I kind of want to hear what they are saying." Mokuba shakes his head.
"No can do! My job is to distract you." He says smiling as Kisara's face drops.
"Really?" she asks dryly.
"Really!" Mokuba agrees. He then continues to laugh while Kisara tries to look around Seto's tall body. Meanwhile, Seto speaks to the guitarist in a hushed tone.
"If you ever bring your sorry excuse for talent around her again, I'll make sure you never play another gig for the rest of your life. You don't get to touch her. Also, I'm doing you a favor," he gets closer, "she could kill you with anything in this room if she wanted to." The guitarist gulps and then scurries away.
"I would do it with a paper napkin!" Seto looks to his side and finds Kisara beaming having heard the last part of their conversation. "I would fold it into a knife and then cut his throat." Seto raises an eyebrow, impressed, "That is how I would kill him." There is a moment of silence before Mokuba gets down from his brother's back.
"I'm going to go find Haru." He scurries away to a drunk Haru. As Seto watches him go, he gets a thumbs up from Scarlet who indicates she can keep an eye on them both. He meets Kisara's eyes again as she continues to stare at him smiling.
"Can you show me?" He replies with a grin, not being fazed by her cruelness. Kisara gasps with excitement as he clarifies, "NOT THE KILLING PART, the knife part." Her face drops slightly to his horror as she agrees disappointed.
"Okay…" She makes her way to the bar to get napkins when he tugs on her arm.
"Do-Do you want to get fresh air? It is kind of loud in here. You can show me outside if that works?" Her eyes sparkle at the invitation. "Here, I can grab the napkins." He gestures to the door, "You just had a big set, you should head outside first." She nods silently as he leaves to get the napkins. He grabs a handful and goes outside. He is surprised to see she isn't there. He looks around for a moment confused when she kicks open the door a moment later. She is loudly dragging a high-top table out the door. She fanes straining to pull hard on the table causing her body to bend over backwards. While, bending backwards, she sees him upside down, standing there confused while holding the napkins.
She cackles laughing evilly. "We need a table!" She says explaining. She pretends to pull hard again so Seto joins her and helps her move it together.
"You are really weak huh?"
Kisara smiles happy that he hasn't caught on. "Sure." She then launches into folding instructions, "Okay so first you fold it this way…" she continues with her instructions as he follows with his own napkin on the table. "And that is how you make a knife!" She holds up a folded napkin with a sharp point on the end and playfully slicers it through the air as Seto finishes.
"So, I didn't know you were an established musician." He asks. She blushes and continues to swipe her knife in the air.
"I've only done a couple freelance songs that happened to make it to the big screen." She shrugs, "Just a normal side job, no big deal."
"Not a big deal? It's a big deal to everyone else… including me." She expertly throws the knife in the cement between two bricks at the wall in front of them.
She looks at him hopefully asking, "Like in a good way? Or a bad way?"
He slices a nearby trash bag with his knife and it cuts open. Trash spills out while he thinks, {Not bad}. "Kisara, it's in a good way." She gives him a big smile, "I'm honored you told me about it first. It was obvious everyone else didn't know. Even people in your department."
She tucks her hair behind her ear, "O-okay…"
Sensing that she doesn't want to make a big deal, he changes the subject. "Do you have the lyrics to 'You're Not Me'? I want to read exactly what you wrote about me." This makes her even more uncomfortable as she pulls one of the CDs from her pocket and hands it to him sheepishly. He takes it happily and opens the cover to a booklet inside.
She sighs embarrassed, "They are listed in the booklet. I also sent the song to Buttercup Fade, they loved it and are adding it to their album. Their version is on here too." She moves closer and points to the song in the booklet. Buttercup Fade is a famous rock band. He looks down at her and smiles moving closer also. Her head is close to his chest as he bends down to read it with her.
"I think I like your version best."
She looks up at him, ready to lecture him, "You haven't even heard their version! How can you know you like mine best?!" She suddenly starts blushing when she realizes how close they are. He makes a move and wraps his arm around her to pull her close until her back is pressing up again his chest. She blushes harder but doesn't try to break away staring at the booklet. "Let's read it together, shall we?" He opens the booklet and reads out loud,
"Don't tell me what to do, or say if I was you,"
She looks up at his face while he continues reading,
"How you would be if you were in my shoes. Cause you're not me. You know what I want and it's not another serenade."
He laughs and she looks up at him, relieved he isn't upset. "I came up with that thinking about you yelling at Yi-Gi and his friends. Do you remember when you called them dweebs? That was so fucking funny" She closes her eyes and starts laughing as he watches her and smiles. When she opens her eyes, he is still staring, and she goes quiet quickly.
"How do you know what I'm thinking?" He asks warmly. He bends down further and hugs her tighter, so she has nowhere to go. She tries to look away while her body is trapped.
"I-I like to think I know you pretty well at this point." He takes a hand and puts it under her chin, lifting her head so she has no choice but to look into his eyes. Her head is turned straight up to the sky with him in view. Their eyes lock, {Are you serious?! How are we put in this position again?} He bends down even closer so their foreheads touch. {He is so close, I- I want to, just do it}
"You know me best, my dragon." Then he lets go of her chin to cup her cheek upside down. {Now is the time. I don't have to tell her; I can show her.} He pulls her face forward. She closes her eyes and doesn't fight it as he goes in for the kiss. Suddenly the side door swings open, and a drunk Haru stands in the doorway.
"WE GOT," *hic* "GO BACK, IG OTTA FEED THE KITTIES!" He yells while stumbling to hold onto the door frame. Seto turns and gives him a stare that could sink a thousand ships. Haru examines the scene in front of him with his drunk brain. He sees Kisara nestle closer into Seto's chest embarrassed trying to hide while Seto guards her with his body and stares at Haru angry. "Oh shit." He runs back into the bar before Seto can catch him as Kisara wiggles out of his hold.
"I-I guess we should get going." She suggests. Seto disappointed, watches her walk toward the doorway. She spies Mokuba asleep on Scarlet's shoulder. "Can I," she turns back around before walking through, "come over tonight?" She fidgets with her fingers behind her back, as he looks at her blankly. "We can read more of the lyrics if you like." He smiles and puts a hand on her shoulder, sending shivers down her spine.
{I'll show her, just not today} "I would love that." He walks through the doorway first, "I'll grab Mokuba."
