Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto or Harry Potter.
Days after the disaster.
Naruto yawned as he strolled down the spiral staircase of the boy dorms. Usually he would be very well rested having learnt it was a necessary thing when he came here to this strange place.
However of course this week was different considering his new guest that occupied his room.
The Cornish pixies that he now knew the name of were making themselves quite comfortable inside his room and Naruto still feeling anxious thinking he would get caught could only let them until he found a way to get rid of them.
Still at least they were amusing sometimes with their antics. He realized they were messing with his housemates and couldn't help but give them a huge thumbs up at the simple yet efficient pranks.
That wasn't the only thing they were good for either. While they seemed completely incapable of doing anything even moderately important without having the brains for it, they were good at it when they got the hang of it.
And the task he assigned them?
Messing with Fakehart.
And they took to it with gusto. From what he could hear from the whispers the man had to scramble everyday borrowing past text to teach with.
He had gotten one up on Naruto when he realized the man was able to magically duplicate papers if even one was still there. So he specifically made sure the pixies were throughout in their work.
He didn't know how long this would work but he was in it for the long haul. He could already see the difference when instead of being questioned on an autobiography he actually got a sensible paper on defense.
'Of course it isn't anywhere near as good as my class but hey- that's a high bar!' He was particularly proud of his idea that day even if he got scolded a bit.
His housemates still shied away from him a bit but he felt content knowing they would at least know how to defend themselves.
He already saw the progress when they flinched at any loud noises in his class, sticking to the shadows as they walked the corridors.
Of course if they had the courage they would probably try to beat the Uzumaki's ass but they didn't did they?
The boy shook the thoughts off as he finally reached the common room.
Roving his eyes over the chairs and fireplace he glanced in between the many students lazing about with clearly nothing better to do.
It was Saturday after all.
'Oh there's that Oliver guy.' Naruto watched as he marched out the portrait holding a broom tightly in his grip as if it was the only thing important in his life.
Trailing him with his eyes Naruto turned away resuming his search of epic proportions.
'They're not sneaking around this time!' Naruto observed the three "we're not blood related!" sisters as they hurried after the teen with wide smiles on their faces.
'No, no, no ,no, no…Ah ha!'
'There she is!' Naruto grinned having spotted his quarry still dressed for night-time kicking her legs idly.
The yellow pajamas with a clearly magically animated duck on it drew his eyes a bit as he marveled at the outstanding feat.
For the third time this week Naruto admitted that magic was wayyyy cooler than chakra! Like there wasn't even any competition!
Who wanted to stick to walls when you could do so much-!
'Man~ Soooo cooool!' The boy was shaking as he quickly made his way over to her his pockets jingling rather loudly, it's contents unknown.
He bounded over, his restrained excitement showing with how he nearly flew across the common room with a couple of steps.
Oof!
He planted himself onto the chair's rest nearly tipping over as he pushed it down so he nor his friend fell.
"Morning!" He said watching as the girl who was completely unruffled smiled with hazy eyes as if gazing far away sending him a wave.
"Good morning Naruto. While I'm sure you're excited for some reason I don't know, I hope you can be a bit quieter." She said with a bit of strongness in her tone shocking the boy.
'Huh?' Naruto thought completely baffled as the girl beckoned him closer by waving her hand.
She cupped a hand onto his ear.
"The nargles are watching."
Pulling back from the whisper Naruto gazed at his friend wondering if he just got scolded for being too loud too early in the morning. Was this her roundabout way of telling him to mind his volume?
The girl gave nothing away however just gazing at him with a serene face. As she rubbed her leg idly.
Feeling his cheeks redden a bit he coughed looking away from the insistent gaze feeling some shame as he glanced at the crackling fireplace.
Finally finding his voice he spoke.
"Hehe sorry." He apologized quietly, getting the girl to tilt her head innocently.
"You shouldn't apologize for doing nothing. That's not very good." She shook her head allowing her blonde hair to bounce.
Naruto raised an eyebrow wondering if it really was alright before letting it go.
"You're not much of a morning person eh?" He said feeling as if he got to the meat of the matter.
"No. Daddy told me I was born right before midnight, so I'm a night person Naruto but thank you for asking."
"That's not what I-" He stopped seeing her smile at him, her cheeks dimpling.
Smacking his lips realizing the girl was playing with him again, he changed the subject easily not wanting to seem like a fool. She seemed to have a never ending amount of ways to talk around him.
"Since you're up so early does that mean you got my invitation?" He glanced around asking mysteriously like he was doing something of the utmost secrecy.
"Invitation…?" The girl's nose scrunched in thought before she blinked.
"You mean your letter don't you? I was wondering what you were trying to tell me when I got it. You shouldn't be so difficult when writing letters, Naruto. You tickled my brain!" She wiggled a finger in the boy's face.
"It's bad penmanship!"
Naruto gasped astonished.
"Really? It was my first letter so I wanted it to be perfect. Ughh- I even…read about it! It was difficult y'know?!" He totally ignored her wrong use of penmanship not even knowing himself as he looked down a bit crestfallen.
His hand was patted and he looked up seeing the girl look at him in pity.
"Don't worry. I understand ninjas don't know much about letters. You can send me some more and I'll help you deal with the problems." The girl gazed at him seriously as if she gave him the solution to all his problems.
"Really?!" The boy grinned, finding an excuse to glomp the girl as she squeaked before giggling at the silliness of it all.
Pushing her away Naruto jumped up before smooshing himself in the chair squeezing inside before the girl moved over.
"People usually ask-" She started before being interrupted.
"Bah! You ain't people! We're friends! Friends don't ask these kinds of things!" Naruto bumped the girl who started a bit at the statement rather than the physical shove.
"Oh we are friends aren't we?" She gasped and bumped him back giggling when he fell over in an exaggerated manner as if dying.
Naruto turned over his face, showing surprise.
"You're just realizing that?! I thought we were on the same page this entire time!" The boy grumbled out loud lamenting that the girl seemingly was only getting it.
"...sorry. I-" He paused hearing her apologize as she fiddled with her thumbs timidly.
For a second Naruto thought about asking why his quirky friend was down all of a sudden before a flash of brown hair popped up in his memory.
'Yeah let's not do that.'
Instead he patted her hand.
"Didn't you say I shouldn't apologize for nothing? You should listen to yourself." He looked away feeling a bit awkward but didn't stop his pats.
After a couple of seconds he felt a tiny grip on his hand. It was fleeting and didn't last long but told him he made progress.
She hummed softly but didn't elaborate any more, bringing an end to it.
However Naruto breathed a sigh of relief hearing the happy little hum. He could only assume that meant she was doing better.
"Err- so why do you look drained? Except for getting up so early anyway." Naruto asked, still a bit interested as he turned his head towards her.
The girl's ever calm face finally turned a bit frazzled as her gray eyes darted side to side as if trying to escape.
"Ehm. Don't laugh or a wrackspurt will crawl in your ear and eat your brains!" Naruto leaned in more, hearing the embarrassment in her tone a bit concerned.
"Ahem! It's…well I've been having-" she whispered it lowly not wanting anyone else to hear as Naruto was astonished at the reasons.
"Really? Homework?" He looked concerned over her hoping it wasn't serious.
She nodded sadly.
"A terrible thing really. It's hard to finish because I'd much rather be looking for Crumple-Horned Snorkacks instead!" She sighed aloud as if burdened by a very great dilemma slumping comfortably.
Naruto looked down as he quickly translated the Luna-speak.
'Oh she's just being lazy then.' So the homework wasn't hard, she just felt she could be doing other things instead of it.
Yup. He could relate a lot.
"Well I could help you if you-"
"Really? Oh Naruto, that would be terribly kind of you." She looked at him with watery gray eyes as he just realized what he offered.
She hadn't even hesitated! Slippery little-
'Ah shit wait wait!' His face was covered with sweat realizing he instinctively offered to help do even more homework!
Insanity! He was going freaking insane!
Luna quickly picking up on the reluctance squinted her eyes.
"Naruto, are you sure you want to help me? You don't have to if you don't want to."
Gulping, shaking with cold sweats, the boy nodded clumsily.
"It seems you've been infested with wrackspurts Naruto. You're saying things you don't mean!" The girl pouted, crossing her arms looking away.
"Wait! How about we both help each other with homework?! Sounds great to me!" The boy who couldn't stand burdening himself with more work found a way out.
If he also got help then it wouldn't seem like a bad deal.
"Eh? No way!" The girl denied quickly turning her body away and shaking her head as the boy gasped.
"Wha-! You- But I was going to help you!"
"That is true but I want help with my homework. Not to do more!" The smart girl already realized she was on the losing end of the stick, sticking her tongue out to the boy who thought he was sneaky.
Turning away knowing he would pursue the girl's mind was clearly decided.
However after about 20 seconds nothing happened and gray eyes peeked backwards, peering in confusion.
"Help me help you!"
"Eep!"
Both kids tumbled to the ground as the blonde Uzumaki tried to force his blonde counterpart to accept.
"Noooo! Get off Naruto!"
"Not until you accept!"
"Never!"
"Then die!"
"Eek! Pffft!"
Giggles filled the air as the kids wrestled on the ground trying to one up each other constantly.
Naruto had just pinned down the surprisingly flexible girl down, his hair ruffled up when he heard a feminine cough above him.
Tilting his head upwards Naruto blinked feeling a shiver as he acted like normal.
Maybe she really didn't see?
"Ginerva? What on earth-" Naruto evaded the candy wrapper that was posed towards his head with a blink before continuing.
"-are you doing here?"
The girl took a deep heaving breath glancing at his friend under him seemingly content where she was before looking at him with narrowed eyes as if trying to find something.
"I was looking for where Luna went so early in the morning and don't call me that!"
Naruto gazed at the girl confused as to why she didn't like her name. Seemed pretty normal to him.
Well it wasn't his business.
"Well Ginny. It's your lucky day! You've accomplished both your goals. Luna is with me-"
"I am!"
"-and I won't call you by your real name. Mystery solved and you can now go back to bed."
Naruto turned his head catching movement out of the corner of his vision as he smiled rolling off Luna.
He was finally here.
"Are you trying to get rid of me? You can be a tad nicer about it. It doesn't cost anything." He heard the heat in her tone idly but was more focused on the package in the boy's hand.
"Errr- no. You just seemed pretty tired. Wouldn't want to disturb your beauty sleep." He shrugged and thought so truthfully.
Luna stretched, nodding along with his statement.
"He's right. You look like you just wrestled a herd of puffeskins and lost Ginvera."
"Pfft!" Naruto held in his snort watching as the girl who suddenly paled looked around mumbling before beating a hasty retreat.
Both kids watched as the girl ran away like a startled rabbit back up the staircase in confusion.
How suspicious.
"She must've lost quite badly to react like that. I hope she's okay."
Naruto nodded in agreement watching as she disappeared.
Silence reigned as the kids glanced at each other sitting on the floor in confusion. Luckily no one cared what some firsties were doing and they weren't disturbed.
Though more than one curious glance was focused on the blondes.
Naruto scratched his head as he glanced around.
"Eh, what were we talking about again?" He looked to his friend for guidance as she thought about it before shrugging.
"Maybe those marks on your cheeks? They are rather- oh hello."
The girl turned her attention to the boy with the afro who approached them.
"That's a beautiful box you have there. You could hold many things inside. Though it wouldn't be very good for pudding."
The boy who Naruto remembered as Dean Thomas stopped looking at the box before looking at his friend clearly thinking 'She's batty!'
'No just quirky.' Naruto shook his head denying it.
"Rig-ht. Naruto my mom sent those things you asked for- dunno why you would want them but-" The boy bent over handing the box over as Naruto who finally remembered scrambled up taking it with a wide smile.
"Woah! Thanks man! Tell your mom-"
"Ehm! Do you have the thing-" Dean quickly interrupted him clearly not wanting to feel guilty about the sincere thanks.
His smile never wavering, Naruto dug in his pocket and with a cling clank gave the boy the sickles.
Dean sucked in a startled breath raising shaking hands taking it like he couldn't believe it as he whispered "Thank you!"
Turning away the brown eyed boy was about to leave with giddiness before he stopped feeling a shiver down his spine.
"Oh and Dean?"
"Y-yes?"
"It's sensei."
"Ah!" The boy paled as if just remembering as he quickly spouted out his plea.
"Yes sensei! Sorry sensei! Don't hurt me sensei!"
Naruto held his box watching as the boy scrambled back up the staircase like a bat out of hell.
…
"Heh. He loved my class." Naruto looked smug as he turned back around to his friend who was back in the chair looking at the box in his hand, perplexed.
"Naruto? What is that for?"
Naruto smirked. He was particularly proud of his idea when he realized his housemates had connections in the regular world.
So the first thing he did?
"-this my friend is our first step in becoming full blown adventurers! Wahhh!" He lifted the box like it was the best thing ever made since sliced bread as the girl applauded him.
"Woooah!"
(Break)
2 pairs of feet walked through the corridor that was slowly being illuminated by the rising dawn. The portraits were glancing at the strange duo taking them in as they walked by.
One near silent, yet his stride almost ashamed and the other skipping rather happily clearly not caring.
"...don't say it-"
"It's too big for my head, Naruto! Weeee!" The girl giggled as the large adventurer hat shadowed her entire head. She wiggled it around her head very much enjoying herself.
Naruto grunted deeply embarrassed holding his box looking down at the too big hat. Of course a hat for adults wouldn't fit his head! He should have asked for one to be bought instead of a hand-me-down!
Luckily his friend told him that she remembered her father shrinking things before.
Now Naruto was simply flabbergasted to hear it. He had asked for her to clarify it and clarify it she did.
When would the surprises end honestly? How did shrinking things even work?
He said it before but magic was so much better than chakra! Or at least the chakra he knew!
Now here they were looking for an adult to perform the charm for them so they could get to their exploration of the castle!
"Heehe. This would have been better if someone didn't force me to wear shoes!" The girl glared at the boy mildly.
Naruto's face twisted.
"Ew no. That's unhy-gien-ic! Who knows what has been on this floor!"
Honesty Naruto thought he had a good point considering the only person who cleaned this place didn't exactly get his vote of confidence.
"I'm sure the castle has self cleaning charms Naruto! It only makes sense!" She twirled in front of him, wagging a finger.
Naruto slapped it away.
"That's an assumption!"
"It's a magic castle! It's a sensible assumption isn't it!"
"Still an assumption!"
"Why are we arguing!"
"I don't know!"
They glared at each other for a second before bursting into a fit of giggles.
Calming down they smiled at each other as Naruto was about to speak before-
Bam!
"Eh!" The two blonde's who were beginning to share the same brain cell looked towards the door that was slammed open.
Soon a black robed figure came out throwing out his hand in a cool manner making his cape wave as he caught the stares of the children.
…
Jiiiii
The blondes stared at the castle's potion master as he stared back.
He turned away quickly walking down the corridor.
Glancing at each other the blondes quickly caught up to his hurried posture.
"Professor! Professor! Profess-" Naruto screamed out loud-
"You insipid child. I am right here in front of you, why are you shouting? Have you lost your hold over your mental facilities?" The agitated man pursed his lips in a stern manner as if realizing he couldn't get away from the brats turning, seeing curious eyes.
Naruto raised his box with his hat in it as Luna did the same.
"Oh good morning Professor Snape may you please shrink our hats for us? You see we wanted to explore… the…castle and…oh poey he's leaving." The girl blinked watching the man leave again.
Faster this time.
"Loook!" Naruto pulled his hat out dropping the box, casually littering as his eyes shone, having caught the quick wand movement easily.
The children observed their smaller hats in curiosity as they placed it on their heads.
"Heh. Looking good Luna!"
"Really? I think it makes me look fat."
"...wha how?"
"Oh it's just something I heard an upper year saying."
Naruto looked at her strangely. It was just so random…
"What am I going to do with you?"
"Love me?"
"..."
"Hehe."
