Still on his journey to becoming a Pokemon Master, Ash Ketchum his eight-year-old sister Riley, are now in the Alola region. They meet new friends and for the first time, go to a school that their Pokemon can be in the classroom. Follow Ash, Riley, their Pokemon in making new friends as they follow Ash's dream of becoming a Pokemon Master! NO FANART NEEDED!

2. The Guardian's Challenge

To anyone who reads my fanfiction, I have something to say. Recently, I've been getting people who are wanting me to hire them to do Fan Art for my Fanfiction and I turn them down. It's at the point where I'm angry and want to take down all of my fanfiction. I want those who are planning on asking me in a DM or in the reviews to stop asking me because I will never ever hire you. I can do my own fan art for my fanfiction. You want to do some artwork for a writer who is publishing a book, go on social media and ask around.

If you as readers really want me to continue writing my fanfiction, then that's what I'll do because writing fanfiction makes me happy. If you honestly dont like the way I'm writing the story for any fandom that I write for, then you can make yourself an account on any fanfiction website and write it yourself. You don't have to physically read mine.

"Popplio, make a balloon." Lana said to her Pokémon. Popplio makes a balloon, but it pops in front of it, causing Popplio to whimper and Lana giggles. "Togedemaru, charge program." said Sophocles. "Execute!"

"Toge." said Togedemaru and hops into a hamster wheel. Lillie looks back and stands up from her seat. "Bounsweet-sweet." said Bounsweet, hopping onto Mallow's shoulder.

"Uh, Mallow?" asked Lillie.

"Huh?"

"The recipe you came up with…if you added Mago berry or Aguav berry, the Pokémon food would be better balanced." suggested Lillie.

"Lillie, you're the best." said Mallow. "I'll try it now. Thank you!"

"I'm happy to help." said Lillie.

"Bounsweet!" said Bounsweet, scaring Lillie to death. "Bo-bounse!"

"It's such a shame." said Mallow, taking Bounsweet in her hands. "You know so much about Pokémon, but you can't touch them."

"I can, to touch them." said Lillie. "I theorize that it's only a matter of if I want to touch them or not."

"Alola." said Kiawe, entering the classroom.

"Huh?" said both girls.

"Alola. Did you have a delivery this morning?" asked Mallow.

"Yeah. To Ula'ula island." replied Kiawe.

"Ula'ula Island? That's far away." said Sophocles.

"With my Charizard, it takes no time at all." said Kiawe.

"Alola." said Professor Kukui, walking into the classroom.

"Alola!" they all said as Professor Kukui walks in with Riley and Ash. Kiawe sees that both siblings have Z-Rings on their wrists. "Alola." said Ash and Riley.

"Starting today, Ash and his sister Riley, will be joining us at the Pokémon school." said Professor Kukui. "If they have any questions, please don't hesitate to them help out."

"See, I really want to become a Pokémon Master while Riley wants to be the best Pokémon Trainer. We both want to learn everything about this place." said Ash. "Glad to be here."

"Pika." said Pikachu. Suddenly, Ash gets knocked back hard a little bit in his ribs, feeling the pain from a small hand.

"My loving older brother occasionally forgets that I have my own voice but what he did say is true." said Riley, her arm stretched out before looking up. "I also want you to know that Meeko is unique. She uses telepathy to communicate and if you like, she can use it with you."

"So that's what I heard." said Mallow. "Meeko was using telepathy."

"Lucario." said Meeko, nodding.

Narrator: Ash, Pikachu, Riley and Meeko have arrived in the Alola region.

Riley: And we're going to school here.

Meeko: Cario

Narrator: Yes. After learning about the Pokémon school, they had a mysterious encounter with Tapu Koko.

Riley: It was weird, but really cool at the same time.

Meeko: Cario, Lucar.

Narrator: Maybe it was for you, Riley. Now Ash and Riley are starting a brand-new journey in Alola.

"That's so cool." said Sophocles.

"Whoa, Ash, is that a Z-Crystal you and Riley have on your wrists?" asked Mallow.

"Yeah. Ash has an Electrium Z while Riley has an Fightinium Z." said Kiawe, walking up to the group. "Where did you get them? Not the island challenge. You both didn't participate and pass the trials that I know of."

"Tapu Koko gave them to us." said Ash.

"Tapu Koko?" asked Kiawe.

"No way! You saw it again?" asked Mallow.

"Uh-huh" said Ash as Riley nodded in agreement. "Pikachu, Riley, Meeko and I heard Tapu Koko's voice, so we took off after it."

"You know, Tapu Koko is such a magnificent island guardian." said Riley, then stared off dreamily. "I wish that I had a Pokémon egg of an Island guardian." Just as Riley said that Professor Kukui curiously looked at the young girl.

"Maybe one day, Riley." said Ash and continues the story. "When we found Tapu Koko, these things just came floating down to us. Yup, right out of the sky."

"Pika." said Pikachu.

"Cari, Lucario." Meeko said to Pikachu.

"Tapu Koko?" questioned Kiawe. "How could it have gotten a couple of Z-Rings?"

"And then?" asked Mallow.

"It felt like Tapu Koko was telling us that the rings were for us…and that's how it all happened." said Ash. The others gasped at the story and Lillie spoke up.

"I read about Tapu Koko before." she said. "Tapu Koko's very well known as the guardian who likes to help islanders, but it also likes to play tricks on people and if it thinks it's necessary, it can sometimes even punish them. I also read that on rare occasions it will give mysterious gifts to people it likes."

"That's great!" said Mallow. "So, that must mean Tapu Koko really likes Ash and Riley."

"Tapu Koko likes us?" asked Riley, going into a daze. "Awesome! If Tapu Koko likes us that much, then I like Tapu Koko."

"Lucario!" Meeko tells her.

"Kiawe, hold on." said Sophocles. "You got your Z-Ring from the Akala Island kahuna, right?"

"Yeah." said Kiawe, looking down at his. "By successfully passing the grand trial."

"That's awesome!" said Riley and Ash. "Does this mean we can use Z-Moves?"

"Using them should not be taken lightly!" said Kiawe in a serious tone.

"Excuse me!" said Riley, glaring at Kiawe, who then takes a step back. "You think that my brother and I won't take this seriously?"

"Lucario!" Meeko said angrily, glaring at Kiawe. She runs over to said boy and knocks him to the ground before dragging him by his leg over to Riley and sits on him. "Lucario!" she then said, crossing her arms.

"Hey! Meeko, let me up!" Kiawe exclaimed, struggling underneath Meeko's weight.

"Lucari." scoffed Meeko, looking away from him and sits on him even harder.

"Kiawe didn't mean it…." Lillie started to say when Ash puts his hands up and shakes his head.

"Riley's on a roll, Lillie." said Ash as Meeko continued to sit on Kiawe. "Once you get her started, she won't stop until it's long out of her system. Meeko is the same way, and she knows Riley."

"I can see that! But is it bad that I kind of want to watch this unfold?" asked Lillie.

"I'm all for some excitement, but can someone please get her off me?" Kiawe asked, wanting Meeko to get off of him.

"Let's get one thing straight here, mister," said Riley, taking a step forward towards him, pointing her finger. "you get on my bad side once, just once….I will literally chase you all over Melemele Island. You'll have no place to hide."

"Lucario." growled Meeko, glaring at the boy then hits the fire type trainer between his shoulder blades. Kiawe looks up at Ash, terrified of what she might do.

"Take my word for it. She'll do it cause she did it to me back home." said Ash.

"Got it." Kiawe tells Riley.

"Good." said Riley, smiling. "You can get off him now, Meeko."

"Lucario." said Meeko, getting off Kiawe and helps him up.

"Riley is scary when defending Ash." thought Professor Kukui as Kiawe starts to explain.

"I heard that, Professor." Meeko said to Kukui, causing the Alolan Professor's eyes to widen.

"Only when a Pokémon and its trainer's heart becomes one, will the Z-Ring turn their feelings into power." Kiawe tells Ash and Riley. "But those feelings must be about something greater than themselves. Like…"

"Like what?" asked Ash.

"Helping the island. Helping other Pokémon or helping others." said Kiawe. "Only those who care about all living things in our world are permitted to use Z-Moves. I'm not exactly sure what Tapu Koko saw in the two of you, but now that you're both a Z-Ring owner, you need to realize your responsibility."

"Ah." said Ash as he and Riley looked down at their Z-Rings.

"Pika. Cario." said Pikachu and Meeko.

"Kiawe, I don't understand much of that complicated stuff…. maybe Riley does in some way…," said Ash.

"Sort of." said Riley, then slouches. "But I'm not really sure if I got it though."

"But we both know how special the Z-Moves are." Ash continued. "For sure, you can count us in. That's about all I can say."

"That's good enough." said Kiawe.

"So, we have a clash between a thunderbolt and a flamethrower." Kukui said to himself. "Very nice. All right, class!"

"Oh!" said Bounsweet.

"It's almost time for Pokémon science." said the professor. "Today's teacher is Principal Oak."

"Bounsweet." said Bounsweet, pushing Togedemaru up into a sitting position. Outside in a tree, a Koala like Pokémon yawned as it holds it object close.

"Like this Exeggutor, the Alolan Exeggutor, there are many Pokémon who look different in the Alola region and who are of a different type as well." said Principal Oak as the Alolan Exeggutor had its head sticking out the classroom.

"Wow, their heights are totally different." said Sophocles.

"Their faces look the same." said Lana.

"The reason why Alolan Exeggutor have grown taller is Alola's climate." explained Principal Oak. "Alola is warm and sunny all year long, so, it's the prefect climate for Exeggcute and Exeggutor to thrive. As a matter of fact, it can be stated that an Alolan Exeggutor looks exactly the way it's supposed to. Of course, this is the result of living in an ideal environment."

"Exeg." said Exeggutor.

"The phenomenon of Pokémon developing that distinct appearance is based on the region they live in is what we call regional variant." said Principal Oak. "For example, Exeggutor is normally a grass and psychic type."

"Psychic Type?" asked Lillie.

"Yep. All Exeggutor from Kanto are Grass and Psychic type." said Riley.

"Tell us what type Alolan Exeggutor is, like a Machamp!" said Principal Oak.

"Of course, a grass and dragon type." Lillie replied.

"Grass and Dragon?" said Ash and Riley, getting up from their desks.

"Cool." said Riley, standing on one side of Exeggutor.

"Wow, so Exeggutor's a dragon type too." said Ash as he looks at the tail. Riley stops in front of Exeggutor before walking over to the window where its head was sticking out. "That's so cool you've got a tail." Ash went on saying, causing Lillie to gasp.

"There's something about its tail you should know." Lillie called out.

"Huh?" said Ash, looking up just as the tail swings at him, revealing another Exeggutor head. "Huh?" The tail swings at Ash, knocking him back. "Pika." Pikachu shouted.

"Ash! Cario!" shouted Riley and Meeko.

"Oh, brother." said Kiawe.

"Are you okay?" asked Sophocles.

"The tail of the Alolan Exeggutor has a mind of its own." said Lillie. "You need to be careful in case it decides to attack you, which is what I was trying to say before."

"Pika." said Pikachu.

"Next time, get to the point a little sooner, okay?" asked Ash, climbing down the ladder.

"Otherwise, you'll end up like Ash, the brother who should've waited before getting close to the tail." said Riley.

"Lucario." said Meeko.

"You see, learning here's like a wild Tauros!" said Principal Oak. "Have the patience of a Conkeldurr!"

"Actually, Principal Oak...you would be eating your words about how many Tauros Ash actually has." said Riley.

"How many does he have?" asked Sophocles.

"You don't want to know until you've actually seen his herd of Tauros back in Kanto." said Riley.

"He has a herd?" they all asked, turning to face a blushing Ash.

"Well…..." said Ash, chuckling nervously. The sun was setting at Professor Kukui's house, and he had set plates in front of Ash and Riley. "Whoa! That looks awesome!" said Ash.

"And it tastes good too." said Riley, taking a bite.

"Pika! Lucario!" said Pikachu and Meeko.

"It's called an Alola plate." said Kukui as he takes two bowls to Pikachu, Meeko, and a puppy like Pokémon with light grey fur. "You like it?"

"It's good, really good." said Riley after swallowing a bite.

"I love it." Ash added.

"Really? Love at first bite." said Kukui. "Glad to hear it."

"Meeko, come try this." said Riley.

"Really? Are you sure? What's it tastes like?" Meeko asked as she walks over to her trainer.

"You'll love it! It's got all these amazing flavors, plus it's really filling!" Ash tells Meeko.

"Yeah, come on, don't be shy!" said Riley.

"Just wait until you're done, Meeko, I've got a special treat for you!" Kukui said, winking to the Aura Pokémon.

Meeko takes a bite and squeals. "You're right! Its yummy!" said Meeko.

"(Chomps) Pika!" said Pikachu, picking up a piece of his food.

"Cario." said Meeko.

"Rockruff." said Rockruff.

"Pikachu." said Pikachu.

"Lucar." said Meeko.

"Look at that. Pikachu, Meeko and Rockruff are already friends." said Kukui.

"Cause Rockruff's friendly, too." said Ash. "Thank you."

"You're done?" Kukui asked the boy seeing that he finished before his sister.

"Ash has been like that since as far as I can remember. Always the first one to finish." said Riley as she finishes the second to late bite of her plate. "But you know how it is when it comes to a Trainer's first Pokémon. Some Pokémon can become like their trainers."

"You really think that's the case? You're saying Pikachu's just as competitive as Ash?" asked Kukui.

"That depends on your point of view." Riley tells him. "The one thing about Ash is he loves food and it kind of rubbed off onto Pikachu."

"Pika." said Pikachu.

"Wow, you guys too." said Kukui, seeing the bowl empty.

"Come here, Rockruff." said the siblings and Rockruff ran over to them, jumping to Ash's arms first before Riley's.

"Huh?" said the professor, looking up and Rockruff gave out a puzzled whimper.

"Pika…" said Pikachu.

"Cario." said Meeko, watching intensely. Rockruff goes over and rubs his neck against Pikachu.

"Pi…Pika. Pikachu!" giggled Pikachu and Rockruff does the same thing with Meeko.

"Hey….I'm ticklish." Meeko giggled before falling to her side and failing her arms.

"You see, the way Rockruff greet each one another is by rubbing the rocks on their necks against each other." said Kukui. "Its obvious Rockruff really likes the four of you."

"Yeah, Rockruff? You do?" Ash asked.

"Oh, Rockruff." said Riley, picking up the Pokémon and rubbing its rocks against her neck. "I really like you too."

"You're so cute." said Meeko as she pets the puppy on the head as Rockruff barks in happiness. Kukui's phone rings as Rockruff jumps out of Riley's arms and into her brother's.

"Hm?" he said, taking his phone out of his lab coat. "Kukui here. What's up?" Ash and Riley looked up as he steps out of the room. "Huh, uh, yeah. I see. All right, then." After putting his phone away, Kukui looks up to see Riley and Meeko standing in front of him.

"You guys are planning something, aren't you?" asked Riley.

"Professor Kukui." said Meeko suspiciously, raising an eyebrow as she crossed her arms.

"Uh…" said Professor Kukui.

"Figures. Lucar." said Riley and Meeko, before walking away. At Mallow's restaurant, Mallow gets off the phone with Professor Kukui. "(Giggles) All right! Listen up. The professor said it's okay." she tells them.

"So, its program go." said Sophocles.

"Great." said Kiawe.

"All right." said Lana.

"Got it, Mallow." said Lillie.

"I can't wait." Mallow said, laughing lightly.

"Bounsweet." said Bounsweet.

"So, tomorrow's party is on!"

"Yeah!" said the others.

"We're late! We're late!" Ash panted as he, Pikachu, Riley and Meeko ran up the hill.

"You know, Ash, this is really the last time that I try to wake you up for something." said Riley. "Next time, I'm having Meeko headbutt you really hard. I can't keep doing it forever."

"Lucario, Cario!" shouted Meeko, telling her that she would hit Ash than headbutt him.

"No, we have to make it if we really push." said Ash, ignoring his sister and pushes harder to run. "Hurry, you guys."

"Pika. Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Coming, Ash." said Riley.

"Lucario." said Meeko.

"Pi." said Pikachu as they and their trainers made it across the gate and streamers popped in their ears. One of Popplio's balloons knocked Ash in the face, causing him to fall and crash into Riley. "Ow! Ash!" said Riley.

"Pi." said Pikachu.

"Lucar…." said Meeko.

"I don't get it." said Riley, laying on the ground with Ash sitting on top of her.

"What was that?" asked Ash.

"Alola surprise." said the girls.

"Pika. Cario." said Pikachu and Meeko.

"Hey, guys." said Ash.

"Did we surprise you?" asked Kiawe.

"Yeah. Alola surprise hurts." said Riley, looking up at him. "Especially when you have a brother sitting on top of his sister."

"You can say that again." said Ash as Kiawe helps him up.

"Well, first off, we decided today would be the perfect day to have a surprise welcome party for you." said Mallow as Kiawe helps Riley and brushes her off. "And that's just the first surprise."

"First one?" asked Ash and Riley.

"And next, Togedemaru and I want to challenge the both of you." said Sophocles. "I'm sure you know what I mean by that."

"And knowing Ash…." said Riley, then points to her brother.

"Challenge? A Pokémon battle, right?" he asked.

"There we go." said Riley.

"Hm." said Sophocles.

"Okay, Sophocles." said Riley and Ash, giving each other a knowing look. "We accept your challenge!"

"Right, Pikachu?" asked Ash.

"Pika." said Pikachu.

"And I'm going to wait over here, with Meeko." said Riley.

"Good idea." said Meeko, following her trainer. Ash smiles, then looked and sees that wasn't Sophocles' plan. In front of them was two bowls filled with balloons.

"This is going to be fun." said Riley.

"Cario?" questioned Meeko, looking at her trainer.

"Let's watch and find out what Ash is planning on doing first before we join in." she tells her as Meeko nodding in understanding.

"Pika?" asked Pikachu.

"Balloons?" asked Ash.

"Right! Balloons!" said Mallow. "Whichever team pops all the balloons first wins the game!"

"Uh…." groaned Ash.

"Pi." said Pikachu, then looks over at Meeko.

"Lucar, Lucario." said Meeko.

"Oh yeah, Pokémon or Trainer, it doesn't matter who pops the balloons." said Mallow.

"Balloons? Pop them first?" Ash asked quietly. "That'll be a piece of cake."

"Ready, Meeko?" asked Riley.

"Ready!" said Meeko, nodded in determination.

"Ready! Go!" shouted Kiawe. Ash and Riley each grabbed a balloon, trying to pop it.

"(Grunts) Hey, this isn't as easy as I thought." said Ash, as Pikachu tries to pop his balloon.

"You said it." said Riley as she and Meeko managed to finally pop one. "It's going to take us forever to pop them all in time."

"Cario." said Meeko, looking at the pile they still had between them.

"Pika." said Pikachu finally popping one of the balloons and the balloon in Ash's hands popped as well. Suddenly, a balloon pops on Togedemaru's spikes.

"Huh?"

"Here." said Sophocles, grabbing the next balloon. "Okay, next!"

"Oh!" said Togedemaru.

"Wow, they're fast." said Ash.

"Yeah!" said Riley.

"Next." said Sophocles.

"You can do it, Ash, Pikachu, Riley and Meeko." said Lana.

"Bouns….Bounsweet." said Bounsweet.

"Maybe you didn't know. You can use Pokémon moves." said Lillie.

"Really?" asked Ash.

"Now she tells us." Riley muttered sarcastically.

"That's cool. Okay, Pikachu, lets pop half of the balloons with Thunderbolt." said Ash.

"Meeko, we'll pop the other half with Bone Rush." said Riley.

"Pika. Cario." said both Pokémon.

"All right." thought Sophocles.

"Pika…."

"Lucario…."

"All right, this is our chance!" shouted Sophocles.

"Toge!" said Togedemaru.

"Chu!" shouted Pikachu.

"Maru!" said Togedemaru, taking in Pikachu's thunderbolt.

"Oh!" said Ash.

"Pika!" said Pikachu, seeing his thunderbolt around Togedemaru.

"Cario." added Meeko.

"Togedemaru, Zing Zap, let's go." said Sophocles

"Maru!" screamed Togedemaru, releasing the electricity that it got from Pikachu as it spins.

"Hey, what's all that about?" asked Ash.

"Here's the deal. Togedemaru's ability is lightning rod." said Sophocles. "It absorbs all electric type attacks. Then it releases that stored up electricity as a move. Isn't it great, Ash and Riley?"

"Yeah. Sure…. whatever you say." said Riley, standing there with her jaw dropped.

"Wow. Togedemaru really rocks." said Ash.

"And so did my plan which is now out the window." said Riley, as Meeko stood by her side.

"Lucar, Cario." said Meeko, reaching out for Riley's hand.

"Excuse me. This is no time to be impressed." said Kiawe.

"Yeah, you're right." said Ash.

"Ma!" said Togedemaru, popping the last balloon.

"The game winners are Togedemaru and Sophocles!" said Mallow.

"You were great! We did it!" Sophocles said to Togedemaru.

"Toge!" said Togedemaru.

"We didn't." said Ash.

"But we tried." said Riley.

"Pika."

"Lucario."

"Ash? Riley?" asked Lana. "Ready for your third surprise? It's a challenge against us."

"Go Lana!" said Mallow as the others cheered.

In the distance, Tapu Koko was in the trees watching Ash and Riley. Pikachu and Meeko ran towards the water with Popplio not far behind them. "A Pokémon Aquathlon is a competitive sport where you run and then swim." Mallow explained. "Now, let's see who wins it."

"Pikachu! Win it, buddy!" said Ash.

"Go Meeko!" shouted Riley.

"Good luck to all three of you, Meeko, Pikachu and Popplio!" said Sophocles.

"Pika! Cario!" said Pikachu and Meeko as they jumped into the water. "Pika…. Cario…."

"That's great, you two." said Ash as brother and sister ran along their Pokémon. "Head for the finish line!"

"Let's see how easy it is." said Kiawe. Pikachu and Meeko saw Popplio swim ahead of them. "Pika…." said Pikachu.

"Lucario…," said Meeko.

"You'll need this." said Lillie, handing Riley a towel.

"Thanks, Lillie." said Riley, wrapping it around her. Ash and Riley gasped as they see Lana run up ahead.

"You're almost there, Popplio." She said. Popplio squeals as she pops out of the water and lands on the ribbon. "I'm proud of you. Great, Popplio. You're amazing."

"Popplio can swim at speeds of 25 miles per hour." said Lillie. "Quite impressive."

"Oh." said the siblings.

"Pika…." said Pikachu as he and Meeko shake off the water when towels were placed on them. "Pika?"

"Great, you two." said Ash as he dried Pikachu. "You both rocked it."

"Ash's right. You did fantastic." said Riley as she dries off Meeko.

"Cario, Lucar." said Meeko.

"Pika!" said Pikachu.

"You're so fast, Popplio!" Mallow praised Popplio.

"I can't believe how fast Popplio moves." said Ash.

"Popplio…." said Popplio, waving her fin at them.

"Not even Squirt moves that fast." said Riley, drying Meeko's left ear. "That's when he's not hanging out with Tulip and Bulbasaur."

"Your fourth surprise is competing against me. I'll accept two against one, what do you say?" Kiawe asked. On the track, Kiawe, Ash and Riley were racing each other on Tauros.

"All right!"

"You can do it, Ash!"

"Go Riley!"

"Pika…."

"Lucar…."

Up in the classroom, Professor Kukui was watching them with Rockruff in his arms when Principal Oak walked up, behind him. "Wow, look at them Rapidash!" said Principal Oak.

"Everyone decided to have a welcoming surprise party for Ash, Riley, Pikachu and Meeko." said Kukui.

"Music to my ears. Eevee-dently!" said Principal Oak. "Buizely. Xerneastic!"

"The Cross Chop of friendship is always a critical hit, don't you think?" asked Kukui.

"Professor, are you going to take part in the festivities, right?" Principal Oak asked.

"For sure. Very soon. Right, Rockruff?" Kukui asked, turning to Rockruff.

"Rockruff!" said Rockruff.

"The truth of it is, I'm the fifth surprise." said Kukui.

"You are? Now I see." said Principal Oak. Out on the track, Ash and Kiawe were neck and neck when Riley surprises them from behind. A second later, Kiawe passes her. "It was a tight race, but Kiawe wins." said Mallow.

"Man, and to think Riley was close." said Ash as he and Riley pull up beside him.

"You rode pretty well. Especially Riley." said Kiawe.

"Thanks, I had a lot of practice." said Riley.

"On what?" asked Ash. "A Ponyta?"

"No…." said Riley, swinging her leg over and jumps down. "I used one of your Tauros back home."

"What?! No way!" said Ash as he steps down. "Thanks, Tauros. You're awesome."

"Moo." said Tauros.

"Pika!" Pikachu shouted.

"Thanks for cheering us on, you guys." Ash said to them.

"Lucar!" said Meeko, running up to Riley for a hug.

"I know. But at least I tried though." said Riley, hugging Meeko.

"Pika?" asked Pikachu, seeing Professor Kukui walk up to the group.

"Huh?" said Ash. "Professor Kukui? Hey Rockruff."

"You're now looking at your fifth surprise." said Kukui.

"Awesome!" said Riley.

"If Pikachu and Meeko agree, let's have a Pokémon battle." he tells them.

"Huh?" said Ash and Riley.

"Pika. Lucar." said Pikachu and Meeko, nodding their heads.

"Whoa! A Pokémon battle?" asked Ash. "And against Professor Kukui, all right! This is the best surprise of all!"

"Let's do it!" shouted Riley.

"Pika!" said Pikachu.

"Cario!" said Meeko.

"Before that…" said Mallow, stopping them. "I'm the poster girl for my family's restaurant, so, that means I'm going to prepare us all a little lunch."

"Lunchtime?" asked the brother and sister when suddenly their stomach rumbled.

"Uh…." said Riley, grabbing her stomach.

"Come to think of it, we're starving." said Ash.

"Pika…Cario." said Pikachu and Meeko.

"Yeah." said Kiawe as Sophocles moans.

"Lunch is served." said Mallow as she brings out lunch. "Here. Eat up, everyone." The Pokémon squeal as Mallow sets down the plate of Pokémon food.

"Pika!"

"Lucario"

"Yummy?" Lana asked Popplio who then smiles in return. "I'm glad."

"You know what?" asked Mallow. "I followed your Pokémon food recipe to a tee."

"It's very tasty, but it's also healthy Pokémon food." said Lillie.

"Delish." said Ash.

"Tasty." said Riley.

"Yeah, it's good." said Kiawe.

"Aina's Restaurant's good." said Sophocles. "I don't like to eat any place else."

"Oh?" asked Ash. Lillie noticed that Riley was quiet while she ate and kept looking over at Meeko.

"Riley, I was wondering…." said Lillie, looking at the youngest Ketchum, nervous about what she was about to ask. "How did you get Meeko? I've never heard of a Lucario in Kanto before."

"I've had Meeko since she hatched from her egg as a Riolu back in Kanto." said Riley as Meeko walks up and sits next to her trainer. "She's the first ever Pokémon from the Sinnoh Region who was sent to Professor Oak."

"Really?" the others asked, shocked. "That's incredible!"

"Yeah." said Riley. "She's been by my side through thick and thin."

"Lucario." said Meeko, nodding.

"Why do you ask, Lillie?" said Ash.

"I just think that Meeko is so cute." said Lillie, smiling as Meeko blushes red.

"Lucario." said Meeko, then scratched the back of her head. Pikachu rushes over and jumps onto Meeko's head.

"Pika-Pika!" he tells her.

"Lucario."

Suddenly Tapu Koko called out to Ash and Riley. "Huh? Hear that, guys?" they asked, standing up from the table.

"Huh?" Just then, Tapu Koko swooped down in front of Ash and Riley, causing them to jump back and scream. "Melemele's island guardian. Tapu Koko!" said Lillie.

"Hello…" Riley said nervously.

"Koko." said Tapu Koko, before taking a closer look at her.

"What a sight!" said Mallow.

"Beautiful." said Lana. The Pokémon chattered as they and Professor Kukui stared at Tapu Koko. "Huh…mm." said Ash.

"You don't think….?" asked Riley, looking up at her brother as she points out to the school yard.

"Yep." said Ash, with Riley holding his arm. "It's great to see you. Riley and I didn't get a chance to thank you for the rings. So, thank you."

"Thank you, Tapu Koko." said Riley. Tapu Koko trills as it tilts its head to the side before quickly vanishing. The group gasped. "Oh, man!" said Ash as Tapu Koko reappears behind them and takes Ash's hat. "(Grunts) Hey!"

"Pi?" asked Pikachu.

"Please give that back. Our mom gave it to him." said Riley.

"Lucario!" said Meeko, nodding. Tapu Koko then swoops down and drops the hat on Pikachu.

"Pika!" said Pikachu. Ash and the others gasped at how fast Tapu Koko was moving around them. "It's so fast, I can't see it." said Ash.

"It's way faster than small group of Beedrill." said Riley. Just then, Tapu Koko appeared before them again, away from the stairs before taking off. "Let's go, Riley." said Ash as he and Pikachu take off after the island Guardian.

"Right, Ash!" said Riley with Meeko not far behind her.

"Hey, my hat!" Ash shouted after Tapu Koko. Tapu Koko led the siblings into the forest as it wears Ash's hat. As they went further into the forest, Kiawe and the others followed the siblings. "Hey! Wait up!" shouted Riley and Ash.

"Ash, Riley, slow down." Mallow called after them.

"(Grunts)" Sophocles was trying to pull himself over the fallen log that Lillie was sitting on.

"Just a little…" said Kukui as he helps Sophocles. Finally, Ash and Riley came to a stop. "Huh? Where is it?" asked Ash.

"It must be around here somewhere." said Riley.

"Where did it go?" they both finally asked and soon enough, Tapu Koko appeared and returned the hat.

"Koko." growled Tapu Koko.

"Hey, what's going on." asked Ash. "I think you mean you want to have a battle with me." Tapu Koko rushed forward, pointing to not only him, but Riley as well before going back to where it was.

"You want me to battle you as well?" asked Riley as Kiawe, Mallow and Lana caught up.

"Tapu Koko." said Tapu Koko, nodding.

"There's no harm in that." said Riley.

"A battle?" asked Kiawe as Sophocles, Lillie and Professor Kukui caught up with them.

"So, their fifth surprise isn't me." he said. "Guess it's Tapu Koko instead."

"I read about this sort of thing once before." said Lillie. "It's said that Tapu Koko is a very curious Pokémon. Long ago, it would challenge the islanders to a Pokémon battle and Alolan sumo too!"

"All right, you've got yourself a deal." said Ash.

"This is going to be fun." said Riley, smiling at Tapu Koko.

"Let's have a battle now!" shouted the brother and sister.

"Pika!" shouted Pikachu.

"Lucar!" shouted Meeko.

"Koko!" trilled Tapu Koko, sending out its first electric attack.

"Ah!" shouted Ash and Riley.

"That's Electric Terrain." said Kukui.

"Hey Ash, Riley! Electric-type moves are become more powerful while Electric Terrain is in effect." said Lillie.

"That's lucky for us all right!" said Ash, then faces his sister. "We're ready."

"I've got your back, Ash." said Riley.

"And I've got yours." said Ash.

"Koko…" said Tapu Koko, curiously before heading towards Pikachu and Meeko.

"Pika! Pik!" Pikachu and Meeko were knocked back by Tapu Koko. "Pika…" said Pikachu.

"Cario…" groaned Meeko. Suddenly a clear rainbow of light surrounded Tapu Koko and heads down for them again. "Down, Pikachu!" shouted Ash.

"Dodge it, Meeko!" shouted Riley.

"Pika!" said Pikachu as he and Meeko got out of the way.

"Now, let's show them all that we can do." said Ash.

"You got it, big brother." said Riley.

"Pikachu, use thunderbolt!" shouted Ash.

"Pi…Ka…Chu!" screamed Pikachu, releasing a thunderbolt from his body and sending it to Tapu Koko.

"Meeko, use Aura Sphere!" shouted Riley.

"Lu…. car…io!" shouted Meeko as she creates a ball of aura and aims it to the right side of Tapu Koko's body. Both attacks touched Tapu Koko, surrounding it in white light.

"Awesome." said Ash, high fiving his sister. Suddenly, both attacks were thrown off by Tapu Koko. "Oh!" said Ash in shock.

"No way!" said Riley.

"Pika?" asked Pikachu.

"Lucar?" asked Meeko.

"It didn't do a thing." said Ash.

"Tapu Koko's just too strong." said Kiawe. As Tapu Koko heads straight for Ash and Riley, they put their arms in front of their faces. Tapu Koko then touches both Z-Crystals, causing them to light up. "Huh?"

"You mean…" said Ash.

"Koko." Tapu Koko trilled.

"You want us to use it?" Ash asked. "The Z-Ring and Electrium Z."

"Are you sure about that?" asked Riley, looking down at her Fightinium Z.

"Tapu Koko." said Tapu Koko.

"Ah! We may not know how to use it, but we'll try." said Ash.

"Exactly. All we can do is try." said Riley.

"Okay, Pikachu. Let's show our Z move." said Ash.

"You heard him, Meeko." said Riley.

"Pika."

"Lucar."

"Oh, Ash. Riley." said Mallow as she and the others watched.

"Can they, do it? I wonder." said Sophocles.

"All right!" shouted Ash and Riley as they did different poses. Ash followed Tapu Koko's movements while Riley followed Meeko's. "Go! Pikachu!" shouted Ash.

"Pika…." grunted Pikachu.

"Go! Meeko!" shouted Riley.

"Cario!" screamed Meeko.

"Pika. Pika." said Pikachu as huge electricity came out of his body.

"Lucar. Lucar." said Meeko as she punches the air, sending brown Lucario size hands towards Tapu Koko.

"Here we go!" shouted Ash and Riley.

"Pika! Lucar! Pika! Lucar! Pika! Lucar! Pika! Lucar!"

"Full power now!" they both shouted once both attacks left their Pokémon.

"That's an Electric-type and Fight type moves." said Kiawe, surprised at the power coming from the siblings.

"That was Gigavolt Havoc and All-Out Pummeling! Wow!" said Professor Kukui. Tapu Koko caws as both attacks came at it. An explosion occurred and Riley grabs Ash by the waist.

"Pika! Lucario!"

"Huh? That's a Z-Move. Oh, man." said Ash as the Electrium Z disappears.

"So much power." said Riley as the Fightinium Z disappears as well.

"Pi. Pika…" said Pikachu, catching his breath.

"Cari…" said Meeko, breathing hard. As the dirt settles in front of them, Ash, Riley and the others see Tapu Koko had protected itself. "Huh?" said Ash.

"How?" asked Riley as Tapu Koko revealed that there was no damage.

"Wow. What's going on?" asked Ash.

"Koko." Tapu Koko called out, before flying away.

"Tapu Koko. Wow." said Ash and Riley.

"Ash! Riley! Are you guys, okay?" asked Mallow.

"Huh? Yeah." said Ash.

"I'm ok." said Riley.

"That's incredible. I can't believe how strong you two are with Pikachu and Meeko." Mallow tells them.

"Well, uh…." said Ash.

"What happened to your Z-Crystals?" asked Kiawe. "It disintegrated."

"Hm?" said both siblings, looking down at their Z-Rings.

"That means it's too soon for either of you to use Z-moves." said Kiawe. "Neither of you had an Island Challenge trial yet."

"All right." said Ash. "I'll take on the island challenge trial."

"So will I." said Riley.

"Huh." said the others.

"Riley and I will pass the trial, and we'll get another Z-Crystal and then we'll be able to use Z-Moves the right way." Ash explained.

"More like the honorable way. Good idea, Ash." said Riley.

"That makes sense." said Kukui.

"Sounds perfect." said Mallow.

"Ah! Bounsweet." said Bounsweet.

"We'll all be cheering for you. Right, gang?" Mallow asked.

"Okay." said Lana, hugging Popplio.

"Of course we will." said Lillie.

"Togedemaru and I know lots about Electric types." said Sophocles. "Yeah, tons of stuff!"

"Hm." said Kiawe.

"Please?" asked Ash.

"Come on." said Mallow.

"I promise I won't chase you on a daily basis." said Riley as she and Meeko gave him a cute look.

"I have to." said Kiawe, eventually caving in. "After all, I'm the only one of us who has a Z-Ring."

"Yay." said Lana.

"Pika." said Pikachu.

"Cario, Lucario." said Meeko.

"That's awesome. Thanks guys." said Ash and Riley.

"Pika! Cario!" said Pikachu and Meeko

Narrator: Ash, Riley, Pikachu and Meeko have found a new goal in Alola.

Riley: It's a big goal, but I can handle it.

Narrator, smiling off camera: Along with meeting new Pokémon School friends, our four heroes have taken a big step forward in their new adventure, as the journey continues.

Riley: Or in my case, a big leap forward.

"Time to eat." said Ash and Riley the next day.

"Pikachu." said Pikachu, eating a berry.

"Lucario." said Meeko.

"Ash, Riley, a present for you two." said Kukui as he hands them a new style of Dexter.

"Present? What is it?" asked Ash.

"It's a Pokedex." he tells them.

"Whoa! Yeah!" said Ash, taking the Pokedex from him.

"Look, Ash, Dexter has an Alolan form." said Riley.

"Cario…." said Meeko, trying to get a sense of the Pokedex.

"Dexter?" asked Kukui, baffled at what she said.

"That's what she called all of our Pokedexes." said Ash.

"Oh." said Kukui.

"What did you expect, Professor Kukui? Did you want me to call it something else?" Riley asked Kukui.
