Neb: I do not own Ultimate Spiderman or any marvel properties that come with it. This is just a fanfic of my OC, Vibrant. If you like this one, go check out my X-Men Evolution fanfic which was the upbringing of this character, I have two of them. One called Vibrant and the other called Section X.
"Seventeen different art museums had been robbed in New York city within the past three weeks and everyone's looking to that menace to save the day," Jameson yelled from the T.V screen. "If you ask me, the wall crawler is the one robbing these places. He lolled you all into a false sense of security and begun his crime spree. Is it any wonder all the paintings taken were spider themed! This ego maniacal maniac had let his own fame fill his head and now he's shown his true colors!"
"Oh shut up," Spiderman yelled as he swung from building to building. "Seventeen Museums, and nobody had said anything. Whoever this thief is has someone in a high place covering up for them. Not to mention, they are stealing spider paitings, so they are trying to get my attention. It doesn't matter anymore, because I've found the next place this thief is robbing." Spiderman swung over top of another Art Museum that's alarm went off for a slight second before being cut off. "Looks like our master thief has finally slipped up." He headed in through the upstairs window and looked down at a man who was wearing a white leather jacked and a black mask with blue LED lights forming a smile. "Ok and who are you supposed to be? The inconspicuous no themed gentleman?"
"That's a good name," the man chuckles as he steps away from a scarlet spider painting. "But my name has a little more color to it, just as this painting does, call me Vibrant."
"Alright Vibrant, I got your message," Spiderman decides. "Now put the paintings back."
"Yeah, that's really not how it works," Vibrant shook his head. "You know how it works, you beat the bad guy then the paintings go back."
"So that's what this is about? Fighting?"
"Indeed," Vibrant bowed as he set the painting down right next to himself. "This has nothing do with challenging myself however, only challenging you. To learn more, try and catch me." He grabs the painting again as a web flies at his hand. "Cute." His hand vibrates breaking the web apart, but not hurting the painting. He then backs towards the wall.
Spiderman jumps down from the window he was perched at. "If you want to fight, put down the painting."
"If you want to fight, let's fight some where else." Vibrant leaned back against the wall and vibrated once more before phasing through it.
Spiderman responds by jumping back up to the window and hoping out of it, keeping Vibrant from getting away. "I thought you said you were trying to challenge me."
"It seems I'm doing quite poorly," Vibrant admitted as he scratched the back of his head. "Fine, the gloves are off." He tosses the painting in the air and chucks a fireball at it.
Spiderman uses his webbing to pull the painting away from the blast, but then gets punched in the face. "Ah, rude!"
"All is fair," Vibrant laughs as he swings a kick. Spiderman dodges him this time, gets some webbing under his legs and then tosses him into a wall with ease. "Clever, but not enough." Vibrant phases out of that webbing next and then chucks two more fireballs at Spiderman who easily dodges it. "So you can sense probability? Your reaction time goes beyond just simply being fast."
"Glad your a fan," Spiderman shrugged before landing a kick on Vibrant. "So what's your deal? Vibrating and Vibrant aren't exactly the same thing."
"No my powers are to control and sense particles, my range of controlling them doesn't go further than vibrating them without some form of power boost. But my name is Vibrant because of my smile."
"The ego on you," Spiderman shook his head.
"I didn't pick it," Vibrant shrugged before grabbing a nearby broken bike chain, vibrating it and tossing it at Spiderman.
"What the?", Spiderman responds as he sees his arm is stuck to the wall as the chain had somehow phased itself through the wall but not through his arm.
"I'd be careful moving if I were you," Vibrant warned. "I did also sharpen it's properties when I vibrated it. One wrong move and you lose a hand."
"Your abilities has a lot wider range then you were leading on," Spiderman realized.
"Good on you for noticing," Vibrant nodded before phasing the painting out of it's webbing. "Alas, this is all I have for you for now. But you'll find me again I'm sure."
"One last thing," Spiderman spoke up. He yanked the wall ripping it outwards without having to press his arm too hard on the bike chains. He then managed to slip out of them. When he did so he fired three more webs at Vibrant who dodged two of them, but got a little on his jacket.
Vibrant took that time to chuck another fireball at him, but Spiderman was easily able to dodge that. "Jeez your annoying."
"Your the one who wanted to fight," Spiderman quipped. He fired two more webs above Vibrant landing on a street lamp and then yanked it downwards attempting to trap him.
"Are you dumb?", Vibrant wondered as he phased through it. "I can phase through solid objects." Six more webs hit him in the jacket. "Not good." He was then tossed into another wall causing him to drop the painting, which Spiderman had caught. "Quite rude."
"All is fair," Spiderman shot back.
Vibrant grunted as he phased out of his jacket. He was strapped up with several rubber knives tied to his chest.
"Um?"
"Allow me to explain," Vibrant grinned as he pulled out two of the rubber knives. The knives then begun to vibrate fast before he charged at Spiderman.
"Right you can make it sharper by vibrating it's particles, I got it," Spiderman deduced.
"Good on you," Vibrant grinned as he cut through each web Spiderman shot at him.
"So you wanted the spider paintings to get my attention, but then you were willing to blow it up."
"I didn't need it anymore."
"You guessed I'd protect it," Spiderman continued. "And now that your fighting me at your best, you are attempting to no hurt the painting, or me. What's your deal, why are you fighting me?"
"Do you see the knives," Vibrant reminded him. "You think I won't hurt you?"
"Yeah, but you learned I can dodge your attacks," Spiderman reminded him. "And you could have taken my arm off with that bike chain, but you didn't."
"Don't read to much into it."
"Just explain!"
Vibrant stopped just short of stabbing Spiderman when he noticed Spiderman had stopped dodging.
"Just as I thought."
"Clever little... I won't explain here," Vibrant shook his head. "We'll see each other again, it will all make sense when that happens." Vibrant decided the painting was lost and headed away from the alley. Spiderman didn't chase him, meaning the boy already deduced what this was.
"So you want to explain what that test was Fury," Peter wondered as he entered the Shield base. He saw Nick Fury sitting across the table from a man with blue eyes, black long hair, and two scars across his face. The man turned to Peter and nodded with a smile.
"Peter Parker," Nick Fury spoke up. "This is Ricky Powers, an Agent of Shield from Section X. He and you have a common enemy, so you'll be working together for now until you bring that enemy down."
"Great to meet you Spiderman," Ricky grinned politely. "I'm Vibrant, the thief with the smile."
