Right after stepping foot on the train, Albus Potter got lost in his thoughts, he was going to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry! He had waited so many years for this, for the day he would get sorted. The sorting… Where would he get sorted? What if James was right? What if he was a Slytherin? Would he not be able to live up to his father's name? Would he be a worthless failure who would die al-

"ALBUS!"

Albus was snapped out of his thoughts by a female voice, it was his cousin and best friend, Rose Weasley.

"What?" asked Albus.

"Move! You're holding up the line!"

"Oh! Alright, alright." Albus moved out of the way and started looking for a compartment with Rose. They didn't find a compartment until they reached the back of the train, where there was a compartment with nobody but a boy with a pale and pointed face, with blonde hair and grey eyes.

"Hey, is he the one who Uncle Ron told you to surpass in grades?" asked Albus.

"Yeah, I think so, let's not sit with him, dad doesn't seem to like him." replied Rose.

"Hey, how bad can he be? Let's just sit here, plus I don't want to sit with James." said Albus with a frown.

"Alright, then." said Rose

Albus opened the compartment door. "Hey, do you mind? Everywhere else is full." He asked.

The boy heaved a sigh. "Not at all." He said, though his voice seemed to contradict his words.

Albus and Rose moved their trunks inside the compartment, Albus extended a hand, "I'm Albus, Albus Potter. My friends call me Al, though." He said, ready for the reaction.

The boy's eyes widened. "Potter, you say, like Harry Potter?" He asked.

"Yes, I'm his son." Albus said, rolling his eyes, "And this is Rose, Rose Weasley." He added, pointing to Rose.

The boy shook Albus' hand. "I'm Scorpius, Scorpius Malfoy." He said. "And don't you dare call me anything other than Scorpius."

"Alright, Scorps." Albus said ironically, with an eye roll.

"So, do you guys know where you're gonna be sorted?" asked Scorpius, ignoring the nickname.

"Well, I'm going to be in Gryffindor." Rose said with pride. "He'll be Gryffindor too, he's just scared he's going to be put in Slytherin." She said, pointing to Albus.

"Why're you scared of being in Slytherin, Al?' Scorpius asked with curiosity. "It's not a bad house, I know I'm going to be in Slytherin."

"Well, my entire family was in Gryffindor, you know. So, what if they start hating me if I get put in Slytherin?" Albus responded

"They're not going to hate you if you get put in Slytherin, Al. I know I won't." Rose said assuringly.

"Thanks." Albus said, heaving a sigh of relief.

They continued talking about Quidditch and classes and generally about Hogwarts when their compartment door opened.

"Anything from the trolley, dears?" A sweet voice said. It was the Trolley Witch.

"Ah, finally. Nine Chocolate Frogs, three Every Flavor Beans, six Pumpkin Pasties and three Licorice Wands, please." Albus said, hand shuffling in his pockets for Galleons.

They shared the sweets and candies with each other, Albus had a five good-flavor-streak while eating the Every Flavor Beans. He got a Beef, Peperonni Pizza, Chocolate Frog, Rice and Butterbeer flavored beans and the streak ended when he got an Earwax flavor. Then they opened the Chocolate Frogs, Albus caught his while it made a leap, and bit it's head off. He opened the card and saw a face that looked like his. He turned the card.

Harry James Potter

Often called The Boy Who Lived or The Chosen One, he is most famous for defeating the most evil dark wizard in history, Tom Marvolo Riddle, also known as Lord Voldemort, You-Know-Who or He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named. He is also famous for founding the underground student resistance group known as Dumbledore's Army, being the only person in history to survive the Killing Curse, and becoming the youngest ever Head of the Auror Office. He is married to former Holyhead Harpies player and fellow member of Dumbledore's Army Ginny Weasley, and enjoys treacle tart and pumpkin pasties

"Hey, look! I've got dad!" Albus exclaimed.

Rose and Scorpius looked over to Albus' card. "Trade to me for Godric Gryffindor?" Scorpius asked.

"Alright, I've already got two of him, anyways…" Albus replied.

They reached their destination around half an hour after Rose saying that they should've reached Hogwarts. Albus opened the door and heard a very familiar gruff voice bellowing-

"Firs' years! Firs' years this way!"

"'Hello Hagrid!" Albus said excitedly

"Hullo, Albus, Rose!" Hagrid said, "Excited fer yer firs' year?"

"Loads." Albus replied and jumped on a boat with Rose, Scorpius and another girl, who had hazel eyes and raven black hair and looked really pretty.

"Careful, Al. These boats aren' tha' strong yer know." Hagrid said, "Four ter a boat!"

"Yeah, Hagrid, sure." Albus said. " Hi, I'm Albus, Albus Potter. What's your name?" He said, turning to the other girl and extending a hand.

"I'm Janine, Janine Andersen." The girl said, shaking Albus' hand "My friends call me Jan."

"Ok, Jan, do you know which house you will be sorte"-

Albus was interrupted, not by a person, but by the beautiful place that is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The entire castle lit up and it was magnificent. They rode into what seemed like a dungeon of a castle , and it was still a magnificent view. Many turrets hung over them, all lit and inviting. As they arrived inside the dungeon, Hagrid led them off, "Alrigh' now wai' here, the Deputy Headmaster will be shortly with yeh to explain the rules and everythin', then we'll sort yeh."

Hagrid left them through a set of double doors, a lot of mutterings could be heard, and Albus was sure James was one of them. Shortly after they arranged themselves to stand before the Deputy Headmaster, the door opened and a very familiar face arrived in front of them, it was Neville Longbottom, Albus' Godfather.

"Hello students! And welcome to Hogwarts! I am Professor Neville Longbottom and the Deputy Headmaster of this school. Now, when you go through these doors, you will be sorted into a house. There are four houses. They are, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Ravenclaw. I am the Head of Gryffindor house. Professor Mutarre is the Head of Hufflepuff house. Professor Poculum is Head of Slytherin. And lastly, The Head of Ravenclaw is Professor Flitwick." Professor Longbottom said, "Now, if you will wait here, the Sorting shall begin shortly." And he left, not without giving Albus and Rose a wink, though.

They waited for a while, then the door opened and Professor Longbottom came again. " Now if you will follow me, you shall get sorted."

They entered the Great Hall, and Nevi- Professor Longbottom placed a three-legged stool in front of the Hall, and put the Sorting Hat on top of it. The Sorting Hat's mouth opened and it sang:
Oh, gather 'round, both young and bold, I'll tell the tale that's centuries old. For I'm the Hat that sees within, The strengths, the flaws, where you begin.

Four houses here, each strong and true, Await to find a home for you. So listen close, heed every word, For in your heart, your house is stirred.

In Gryffindor, the brave reside, With courage fierce and strength beside. For those who fight for what is right, They soar on valor, bold and bright.

Or Hufflepuff, so kind and fair, With patient hearts and friends to spare. Loyal, true, and never weak, They work for harmony we seek.

Ravenclaw, with minds so keen, In endless search for things unseen. Wit and wisdom rule their quest, They seek the truth and learn the best.

And Slytherin, with cunning art, The sharpest minds, the strongest heart. For those with drive and grand designs, Ambition fuels their brightest shines.

So wear me now, don't be afraid, I'll place you where your path is laid. A house to shape you, help you grow, Come one, come all, to Hogwarts, go!

The entire Hall burst in applause, as the Sorting Hat bowed to each of the four tables.

Professor Longbottom unscrolled a piece of parchment and said. "Now, The Sorting shall begin. I will call your name and you will sit on the stool and I will put the hat on your head."

"Abercrombie, Hecate!"

A plump-face boy with black hair went and sat on the stool, looking terrified, after a while, the hat opened it's mouth and said "SLYTHERIN!"

The Slytherin table burst in applause as Hecate smiled and sat with them, many older students pat his back and smiled.

"Ackley, Coral!"

A thin, blonde girl walked up to the stool and put the hat on, looking rather confident, the second it touched her head, the Hat screamed

"SLYTHERIN!"

The Slytherin table burst to applause again, as the girl named Coral sat with them too

"Aemillus, Preston!"

A boy with blonde hair and blue eyes walked to the Hat, looking really haughty and arrogant, after a few seconds, the Hat screamed,

"GRYFFINDOR!"

Now it was the Gryffindor tables time to burst with applause, as the boy named Preston sat there, Albus had a feeling he would not like the boy.

"Amata, Barbara!"

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

"Andersen, Janine!"

The girl Albus sat with in the boat ride walked up to the stool and after a minute, the Hat screamed, "SLYTHERIN!"

"Beaumont, Matthew!"

"RAVENCLAW!"

"Claverdon, Anthony!"

"GRYFFINDOR!"

"Cole, Zach!"

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

"Evander, Lucas!"

A boy with black hair and grey eyes walked up to the Hat, and after a couple of minutes, the Hat screamed, "SLYTHERIN!"

After "Gordon, Anthony" and "Gore, Emma" became Ravenclaw students, Albus heard a familiar name.

"Hagrid, Arton!"

Albus knew that Hagrid had a son with the Beauxbatons Headmistress, Madam Maxime. But he didn't know that he would be joining Albus as a first year. After half a minute, the Hat screamed, "GRYFFINDOR!"

"Ivy, Ivera!"

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

"Malfoy, Scorpius!"

Scorpius walked up to the Hat, fingers crossed, the millisecond the hat touched even the slightest of hairs, the Hat screamed, "SLYTHERIN!"

Scorpius smiled and went and sat in the Slytherin table.

"Moon, Alexis!"

"SLYTHERIN!"

"Nest, Daniel!"

"GRYFFINDOR!"

"Page, Evanna!"

"RAVENCLAW!"

"Potter, Albus!"

Muttering broke out through the Hall, Potter, did he say? Is that Harry Potter's son? 5 Galleons he goes to Gryffindor. I won't take you on that, he'll surely be Gryffindor, I'll lose. Oh, come on! Ok. 5 Galleons for Slytherin. Albus wouldn't even know his feet were moving if he didn't sit on the stool. This was it, he was going to get Sorted. He put the Sorting Hat on his head…

"Ah, another Potter, I see. Oh, you lot are always fun to sort. Let's see, I see loyalty, but no, Hufflepuff isn't the house for you, Oh there is wit and cleverness, maybe Ravenclaw. Ah, I see courage, so much courage. You would do well in Gryffindor. Ah, you are cunning as well, a thirst to prove yourself, even a certain disregard for the rules, if I may say." The Sorting Hat said, with a chuckle. "You are much like your father, He would've done well in Slytherin too. So where shall I put you Mr. Potter?"

"James reckons I'll be in Slytherin. I want to prove him wrong, I want to be a Gryffindor."

"Ah, Mr. Potter, you want to prove your brother wrong, That is another Slytherin trait, I presume."

Albus was conflicted, he wanted to be a Gryffindor, like his entire family. But Slytherin didn't sound so bad. Though Gryffindor was a family tradition.

"You know, a break in the tradition isn't so bad. But if you want, I could put you in Gryffindor. But, I will stick to my word, you would do very well in Slytherin."

"I've made up my mind, we're agreed."

"Very well. SLYTHERIN!"
