"But I thought we were going on a hay ride," Cat pouted. Ladybug sighed. "Cat, we are going on a hay ride, but we need to pick our pumpkin first."
Cat grinned, his tail begin to twitch. "Peter picked a perfect pumpkin, how many pumpkins did perfect Peter pick?" Ladybug laughed as the last words came out garbled. "Cat got your tongue?" She slipped a arm through his. "Come on, I'll buy your ticket."
It was a perfect day to be a pumpkin patch with fluffy white cotton ball clouds sailing above in a ocean of blue. Ladybug could hear children giggling as they entered the corn maze, and she got excited as she saw a face painting booth.
Then she noticed her partner had slipped away, and he was standing a top a large plastic pumpkin slide. "Cat, what are you doing?" "Showing off for the kiddos and the ladies," Cat cracked his knuckles. "Cat, you already have a lady! And get down from there!"
But cat-brain had taken over, and Cat flopped on his belly, sliding down tummy first, a picture of childish glee on his cherub features.
Ladybug groaned, peeking through fingers. Luckily, Cat arrived at the bottom unscathed, swathed in cheers by the little ones.
"You gotta try the slide, Bugaboo!" "Maybe later," the sooner she could hide her red face among the pumpkins, the better.
"So, what kind of pumpkin are we looking for?" Cat asked. "One that's easy to carve. You know Alya invited us to her carving pumpkins party."
They searched high and low, and Ladybug and Cat split up to cover more ground. Ladybug was lost in her own thoughts when Cat hurtled towards her.
"M'lady! M'lady!" Strange, her partner's voice sounded muffled and when she looked up, she gasped. Cat had pumpkin for a head!
"You goof, what did you do?" she asked, trying to hide a smile. "I tripped." "Cat, don't move!" Ladybug cried. Cat froze. "You found it, the perfect pumpkin!" "Can't you free me first?" "Hold on," Cat sighed as she rolled the pumpkin a safe distance so there weren't any accidental accidents.
"Okay, one, two, three...tug!" Pop! Off came the pumpkin.
"Now, that's over, and we found our pumpkin, how about that hay ride!"
Cat's cheers were all she needed.
Though her partner was goof, Ladybug loved how happy he was, on a date in a pumpkin patch, pumpkin head or not.
