Iida felt so good to be leaving U.A. for whole day. Don't get him wrong, he loved U.A. and everything about it, but he did feel like he needed a break from it. When Uraraka told him that her and Midoriya were getting permission to leave U.A., she immediately invited him as well. He was very grateful and almost backed out of it. But then he realized that he might need this. Just stepping off of U.A. campus made him realize how much he needed this.
They all walked out of the campus, feeling so relieved to even be doing this.
Midoriya and Uraraka smiled at each other, and Iida noticed them beaming through their eyes. He smiled back, happy to see Midoriya feeling much better. Ever since he got that awful fever, Iida worried that he would fall behind on his studies. Thankfully Uraraka helped him catch up pretty quickly, even Iida helped him with some english homework.
They all walked away from the U.A. campus, feeling a little excited to be hanging out with each other. They've never done this before with just the three of them. Iida looked around, feeling pretty good about today's little trip around town.
"I can't believe we're actually doing this," Uraraka said to them, "I mean, I know that we've done this before, but not with us three. I don't think we've ever been out like this ever."
"Hey. You're right," Midoriya said back, "We've been friends all this time and never went out together. Just the three of us."
Iida felt a little left out when they said that, but then realized that they've all been busy anyway. It's not anyone's fault.
"We've been busy with hero work and training. If anything, it's a good thing that we're at least working hard to be great heroes someday," Iida told them.
"Still. It's nice to take a break from it all," Uraraka said back, "You can't tell me that you two would love a break from being heroes in training?"
Midoriya and Iida shared a look, wondering if they cared one way or another. Iida didn't mind taking a break, but he always was working towards something. If anything, it felt weird to do something that had nothing to do with being a pro hero.
"I guess it's still a little weird for me. I don't usually do this sort of thing with friends," Iida said to them as he adjusted his glasses, "Usually I'm at home working on improving my quirk, finishing some homework or studying. I never really ever had time to do these sort of things."
Midoriya and Uraraka shared a look, and Iida could tell that they were concerned about him. He just didn't want to make this about just him though.
"Don't worry about it guys. I still appreciate you two inviting me to go out with you," Iida said to them, "What did you guys have planned anyway?"
Iida noticed that they were unsure exactly on what they were planning on doing. They looked at each other, and Iida could tell that they didn't know where or what to do.
"Actually, we were not planning on doing anything really," Midoriya said to him.
"We were probably just gonna walk around town, go to the mall, eat something for lunch. Stuff like that," Uraraka said back with a smile.
"Sounds like a plan to me. Unless there's something else you two wanna do," Iida said to them.
"Nope. I'd say this is a pretty nice day out anyway," Uraraka said to him, "Besides, when do we ever get to do anything like this?"
Iida smiled at them, glad that they were excited to be doing this. Even he was starting to get excited to be hanging out with them. He took a deep breath in and out, ready for a fun day out ahead of them.
"Alright then. Let's head out then."
They all headed towards the subway station, ready to walk around town for a little while. None of them have really ever walked through the stores around this area before. They were all kind of excited considering they've heard how amazing some of the stores were around here. They even had some stores here that were carrying all sorts of amazing collectibles, which Midoriya was obviously excited about. They soon found themselves in the subway, sitting next to each other.
It was crowded in there, so Iida stood up while Uraraka and Midoriya sat next to each other. Iida noticed how much they were already enjoying this trip. They were smiling and holding hands, which made him feel much more relaxed. He couldn't help but notice how much they liked being around each other all the time. Even them holding hands seemed more natural than it used to be.
Soon enough, they exited the subway and kept going. They walked around town, noticing how many stores there were around here. Midoriya and Uraraka were awestruck by how much they could look at around here. Even Iida was a little excited to find things that he might need in his dorm room. He even remembered that he wanted to get some supplies to help fix his engines.
"Wow! This is crazy!" Uraraka commented on the stores, "Where do we even start?"
"How about that store? It looks like it carries some pro hero collectibles!" Midoriya cried out, making Uraraka laugh.
"Sure. We've got all day to go through these stores," Iida said to them.
Midoriya's eyes were sparkling as they entered the store. It was filled to the brim with pro hero figures, posters, plushies, trading cards and anything that you could think of. There was even a dedicated area to AllMight, which Midoriya spent the most time in. Uraraka looked around for a bit and found some Ryukyu merchandise that she thought about buying. Even Iida found a couple of things that he found of a couple of pro heroes that he admired. Uraraka wasn't surprised that Midoriya ended up buying a few things. He got a figure of AllMight in his Young Age hero costume, an AllMight poster, and a ketchain of AllMight.
Uraraka even noticed that Midoriya got something that he was trying to hide from her. They soon exited the store, and Midoriya was already satisfied with his purchase.
Iida noticed him smiling from ear to ear, which made him feel that much better about coming here.
Then he noticed Uraraka looking at a store in the distance. Something about it caught her eye, and he could see why. It looked out of place in a city. The store looked old and ancient, like it had been there for a long time. She kept staring at it, and Midoriya didn't know what to make of it.
"Why don't we go in here?" Uraraka asked them, "It looks like it could be... interesting."
"Are you sure Ochaco? It looks kind of old," Midoriya said to her, "Maybe we could try going to a convenient store instead. Maybe they'll have mochi."
Iida could tell that Uraraka was tempted to go with them, but she couldn't look away from it. Iida looked at the store and something about it did feel a little off. Then he noticed how much fun Uraraka was having. He wanted her to have a good time, so he let out a sigh.
"Fine. Let's go in," Iida said to her as he headed over there.
"Really? Are you sure Iida?" Midoriya asked back, "It looks kind of out of place compared to everything else, doesn't it?"
"It's just a store. I'm sure it's just a little old," Iida said to them.
Uraraka smiled from ear to ear, and she grabbed Midoriya's hand as they headed inside. They headed inside cautiously as they soon realized what kind of store this was. It had a lot of crystals, potions, ancient books, and even necklaces and jewelry that looked somewhat magical. Something about the place felt like they stepped into a storybook. Uraraka's eyes sparkled as she looked around at all of the amazing jewelry and crystals. Iida was impressed with how much stuff it had for such a small store. Even Midoriya was kind of interested in what they had here.
Uraraka couldn't look away from pretty much any of these things that were being displayed. Her eyes sparkled as she looked from the crystals to the necklaces. She felt like she had to get something from this place, even if she didn't have a lot of money on her.
Iida noticed how much Uraraka was enjoying this place. He couldn't blame her considering this place had things in here that seemed... magical. He had never really been in a store like this before. He usually would just go to places that he needed to get stuff from, like supplies for school or hero training. Something about it felt weird to him, but that's all it probably was.
Iida noticed Midoriya looking at a bunch of books that looked old and almost ancient. He was flipping through one as dust came up of the pages. Midoriya coughed from the dust, which shocked him that these were even on sale.
"Wow! That's a lot of dust," Midoriya said to Iida.
"I'm surprised that this stuff is even on sale," Iida said back.
"Yeah, but check it out," Midoriya said to him as he looked at the book, "It's some sort of ancient spell casting book. Isn't that weird? I've been in a store like this before, but these are kind of interesting."
"Come on Midoriya. You don't actually believe in this stuff, do you?" Iida asked him.
Midoriya looked at it again and noticed what it was called.
Mr. Amasawa's Book of Spells and Charms
"Mr. Amasawa?" Iida pointed out, "Who's Mr. Amasawa?"
Before any of them could react, someone had snuck on them without them even realizing it. Midoriya almost jumped out of his sneakers while Iida got in a fighting stance to chop them.
This guy that snuck up on them looked a little bit older than any of them expected. He had a grey mustache with a hat on that covered his grey hair. He had on some clothes that looked more casual than the actual store itself. Nothing about him stood out as out of place or magical. He just seemed like any of other older guy walking around the streets of Japan.
"You've gotta good eye there my boy," The older man said to Midoriya, "That's a rare spell book right there. These books aren't an easy sell lately. That's why they are so dusty."
Midoriya looked at the book and felt bad for the guy. Iida could tell that he was actually considering buying it just to make him feel better.
"Shouldn't you still take care of the store? These books are pretty old," Midoriya said to him, "I can tell that they aren't just some regular old books. These are rare, right?"
The old man smiled like Midoriya was onto something. Midoriya flinched, feeling like they shouldn't have come here.
"Yes. They are. These books, especially Mr. Amasawa's, are very rare and pretty powerful spell books. I'd say however you just picked out the only copy of that one in particular. You must have a keen eye to spot that one so quickly," The older man explained to Midoriya, "Do you have a strong and rare quirk? Sometimes rare quirks are drawn to the magical and rare things in this world."
Midoriya stiffened up, and Iida noticed that the older man was getting through to Midoriya somehow. He noticed the book Midoriya was holding and wondered if it was actually a spell book. Iida didn't believe that kind of and just waved it off as someone trying to sell some cool looking items.
The older man walked towards his register, and Midoriya followed him as he waved them over.
"I don't normally get a lot of customers. I'd say you three are my first customers I've had in weeks," The older guy explained.
"Weeks? But how do you take care of the store if you haven't had any customers?" Iida asked him.
"Oh, don't worry about it my boy. I still make enough money to get through this, pay rent, and take care of the shop," The older man said back, "After all, this place is special. I would never want to lose a place like this."
Iida and Midoriya shared a look and wondered who this man was. They've never been here before, so they didn't know that they would ever stumble into a place like this. Midoriya looked around, and Iida noticed that everything in here was displayed in a way that seemed scattered and disorganized. It was nothing like how Iida would've taken care of a store like this, especially with rare magical items.
"Do you actually believe in any of this stuff that you're selling? I mean, it's just crystals and jewelry, right?" Iida asked him.
The older man looked at him in a way that gave Iida chills down his back. Something about this place just felt different from any other store that Iida has ever been in. Even this older man didn't seem to be all that interested in anything else other than his store.
"You my boy. Don't you believe in magic? These things in here are more than just crystals and jewelry. These are magical and rare, nothing like you'd find in any regular convenient store. Even those books aren't just regular old, dusty books," The older man said to him as he pointed to Midoriya's book.
Iida looked at the book that Midoriya held in his hand. He gave it a look like it might jump up or float around in the store.
Nothing happened.
"Sorry sir, but it just looks like any other dusty book," Iida said to him.
Before the older man could say anything, Iida and Midoriya noticed Uraraka looking at some necklaces in the corner of the store. She had spotted a necklace that looked like a rose quartz. It sparkled in the light, and it was even in the shape of a heart. Uraraka couldn't look away from it, and Midoriya noticed her looking through her wallet. She slumped her shoulders as the older man came over to her.
"Hello there, young lady," the older man said to her, "I see that you too have got a good eye. That necklace is pretty unique. It was actually found it like that. No one carved it. It might even hold special and magical qualities."
Iida noticed Midoriya looking over at Uraraka who was looking through her wallet and hesitated to say anything. He wanted to get out of the store, but Iida decided to let them handle this. After all, there was nothing wrong with this place in particular.
Uraraka looked at the necklace and looked like she really wanted it. Iida looked at it, and he felt like it was just any other necklace you bought at a jewelry store. Maybe even cheaper than that.
"That sounds amazing, but..." Uraraka trailed off as she looked back at it, "I don't have enough money to buy something that expensive."
"I-I'll take it," Midoriya stepped in to help out, "Sir, I'll buy that necklace and this book."
Uraraka's eyes widened in shock as the older man smiled at them two together. Iida noticed the way he looked at them, wondering if there was more to this guy. The older man took the necklace off of the display case and walked over to the register.
"Izuku, what're you doing? You already spent a lot of money. You don't have to spend more on that necklace," Uraraka said to him.
"B-But I want to. Besides, I owe you for helping me out with my fever," Midoriya said back with a smile.
Uraraka felt a blush form on her face, and the older man noticed them and how close they were. Midoriya walked over to the register, feeling excited to get something special for Uraraka.
"You made a great purchase. These necklaces are actually pretty special, but I've heard some things about this one in particular. This one belonged to Mr. Amasawa's wife. They were very close, and this necklace was proof of that," The older man explained to them, "I can tell that you two care about each other very much."
Midoriya and Uraraka shared a look and felt their faces heat up. They looked away and smiled as they looked anywhere but them. The older man smiled at them, and Midoriya paid for their purchase. Then the older man looked at Iida, making him flinch for some reason.
"So, is there anything that you'd like to buy here?" The older man asked him.
"Sorry sir, but I don't think so," Iida said back, "Don't believe in stuff like this, but I hope your shop does well."
The older man gave him a look that seemed to understand, and also felt bad for Iida.
"Well, I'm sorry to hear that. These things are pretty special if you look hard enough," The older man said to him as Midoriya grabbed his bag.
"Thanks sir, but I think we should get going," Iida told the older man as Midoriya and Uraraka followed him out.
"Tha-Thank you sir!" Midoriya said a little too loudly, "It was an honor meeting you sir."
"Thank you for the necklace. I'll keep it safe," Uraraka said to him with a smile.
They all left the shop, leaving the older man alone. He looked out the window and eyed Midoriya and Uraraka and how close they were. He then looked at Iida and gave him a smile, knowing full well what they were in store for.
"My boy... I'm sure you'll believe in magic soon enough..."
