Chapter 21
The club was booming this evening as loud music, occupied with a little intoxication, set the tone for youngsters to make the absolute worst decisions of their fucking lives.
A young man sat down next to an extremely attractive woman with golden hair.
"What's a place like you doing in a girl like this?" The man quipped.
The girl glanced and smirked at the man over her drink before lowering it.
"Krystal. With a K." She held her hand out to him and the man shook it.
"Gus. May I?" He asked, gesturing to the free seat beside her.
She gestured to it, unfazed.
"You, uh, you from around here?" He asked.
"Moved recently. Wanted to get away from… humans." Krystal commented.
"Really? Well, you certainly picked quite the place." Gus stated. "Rather crowded here."
"That it is." Krystal agreed. Suddenly, she glanced at Gus with a look that made him feel as if he were prey. But, just as quickly, it faded. "What do you say you and I blow this joint and hit a better party?"
Gus took a moment before shrugging.
"Fuck it. Lead the way."
Having gone to a gun store, Krystal led Gus to the basement of the place after giving the guy behind the counter a nod. Upon entrance, music blasted Gus' ears as countless party goers roared and jumped to the beat.
Turning to Krystal, Gus was surprised when she suddenly embraced him in a kiss. Biting his lip, he felt her teeth tear the flesh.
"Ah!" He pulled away, wiping his mouth.
"Sorry." Krystal apologized. "You just bring out the worst in me."
"Didn't realize I had that effect." Gus chuckled.
"Oh, baby. You have no idea."
"Alright, ladies, and gentlemen! Fuckers, and fuckees!" The DJ boomed into the mic. "Are ya ready for a BLOODBATH?!"
The crowd roared in response.
"LET HER RIP!"
Someone pulled the fire alarm, causing a loud burst of music, followed shortly by the sprinkler system going off.
Gus and Krystal danced together, but Gus soon noticed something off about the water. It was red. Blood red.
Gus, distracted by the amount of blood covering his body, lost track of Krystal. When he finally saw her again, she slithered her way through the crowd, her fingernails growing as she approached the unsuspecting male.
"How bad do you want me?" Krystal asked as she ran her nails down his cheek. "Will you do anything for me?"
Gus began to hyperventilate as he froze under Krystal's powerful gaze. She could hear his heartbeat quickening.
Krystal suddenly opened her mouth, showing off razor sharp fangs she instantly dug into his shoulder. Biting deep, Gus tried to scream but was drowned out under the music and roars of the crowd as other unsuspecting humans, men and women alike, suffered a similar fate as him.
Krystal pulled away as she felt Gus' body go limp. Raising her arm, Krystal bit deep into her own flesh, raising her arm above his mouth and letting her blood drip on, and into Gus' open mouth. Shortly after, Gus' eyes shot open. His sclera was a sickly yellow, and his irises were as red as rubies.
As if unable to control himself, Gus latched himself onto Krystal's open wound, drinking deep.
"Good, boy." Krystal said with a smile. "Drink up."
Opposite side of town: Club Yuno
Cal wandered around Club Yuno as girls, humans and monsters alike, tried to grab his attention.
"Sorry. 'Scuse me." He apologized as he snaked his way thru the crowd and towards a certain, strawberry blonde girl. Her hair was longer now, reaching just above her shoulders.
Upon reaching her, Cal took her hand and spun her around, causing Kimiko to yelp in surprise. Pulled close to him, Kimiko stared up at him with a smile.
"Couldn't help but notice you across the floor." Cal said. "Looked rather lonely here by yourself."
"And a man, such as yourself, had the decency to provide me company?" Kimiko asked, her eyes flittering flirtatiously. She walked two fingers up his chest. Suddenly, she grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, and pulled him into a deep kiss.
Caught off guard by this, Cal wrapped his arms around her, extending the kiss further.
Someone clearing their throat behind Cal got his attention.
Pulling away with a soft pop, Cal looked back to see Kimiko standing with her arms crossed.
"What- uh?" Looking back, it was now Sasha staring up at Cal with one mischievous smirk.
"Sorry, Kimiko." Sasha said a quick apology. "But, that was payback for swapping my Old Ingledew Whiskey with non alcoholic, you bitch."
Kimiko felt her anger rise but quickly fade. She was right. A sort of prank war erupted between the two after Kimiko used Sasha's card to go on a shopping spree. However, Kimiko being Kimiko, only spent 250 on new outfits, not daring to spend more.
But, after that, the pranks got more and more intense between the two.
Sasha walked off, blowing Cal a kiss before disappearing into the crowd.
Turning his gaze back to Kimiko, Cal immediately went to defend himself.
"Before you say anything, she looked exactly like you."
Kimiko brushed him off before joining him on the dance floor.
"She didn't actually mean it. Unlike someone else." Kimiko stated, referring directly to Jennifer. "Still can't believe she went and got herself knocked up."
"Yeah." Cal agreed.
As for Jennifer, she was in her penthouse. During her pregnancy, Jenn had distanced herself from any alcohol and the temptation. Even if she was a piece of shit for doing what she did with Cal, she wasn't going to let herself be a terrible mother.
Rubbing her, now visible belly, Jenn let out a sigh. Makio had tried to persuade Jenn to come clean to both Cal and Kimiko of the baby's father. Even under the threat of blackmail, Jenn could only muster the strength to inform them that she was pregnant, but not by who.
"Just some one night stand." Jenn had brushed it off as if it were a minor mistake.
"You plan to keep it?" Lilly asked.
"I don't see the harm in it." Jenn replied.
Makio stood a few feet from the group, shaking her head in disappointment.
"You're fucking pathetic." Makio told her before pushing by the group to head to her penthouse.
Not only did Jenn take advantage of a member of Makio's pack, but to blatantly lie to everyone further put Jenn in a darker light.
"What was that about?" Kimiko asked.
"No clue." Jenn lied.
Slowly sitting down on her couch, Jenn hugged her belly before turning on the TV.
Back on the dance floor, Kimiko and Cal had found a place off to the side to sit and chat. It was pretty isolated which gave the young couple privacy.
The two held nothing back as they openly made out and touched each other all over. Over the past 6 months, the two had grown closer than ever, to the point they'd pretty much done almost everything in the book. From dates, to dinners, to alone time in the bedroom. To say their relationship was healthy was an understatement.
Suddenly, Kimiko gave Cal "that" look. It was a look of experimenting. As if a thought suddenly crossed her mind.
"Hey, you wanna try something?"
"Whaddya mean?" Cal questioned.
Before Kimiko could answer, Lilith popped up between the two.
"Sup, shitbirds?" She announced.
"Where did you-"
"Soooooo, some of my relatives are letting me use a mountaintop getaway to throw a party." She told them. "Pack warm."
"We-"
"Are gonna pack and come with." Lilith told them. "This is one of the new spots my family purchased. And I get to throw a par-tay!"
"Pack? How long you planning on being out there?" Cal asked.
"However the fuck long I want, baby boy." Lilith answered with a clasp of her hands. "But ya'll can stay a day or two. Or three. Or however the fuck long you want."
"I don't-"
"It's gonna be me, you two, the others, and maybe a couple friends." Lilith continued. "It's gonna be awesome. Oh, the activities!" She squealed. "Later!"
And with a quick wave she vanished in a blur of motion.
"So, we're go-"
"We're going!" Kimiko interrupted enthusiastically. "Snowboarding! Eee!" She also squealed in excitement.
A week later
Cal and Kimiko stood next to a ski lift as they stared up the mountain.
"Do you even see a 'mountaintop getaway' up there?" Cal asked. "Hard to see if there even is one."
"It's further up."
A new voice made the duo jump out of their skin.
"AH!" Kimiko let out a quick yell of fear while Cal held her hand on his arm, calmly.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to startle you." A black man with corn rows, and a thick black parka, stood with a small luggage bag. "Friends of Yaia, I take it?"
"Yaia?" Cal repeated.
"Yuri. I think she's going by Lilly now?" The man shrugged. "Whatever. Luke."
"I'm Cal. This is Kimiko." Cal introduced himself and Kimiko.
"Pleasure. Truly." Luke said. "Ski lift's here."
After boarding the lift, the couple sat across from Luke.
"Must've known Yuri a while." Cal commented.
"Couple hundred years." Luke shrugged. "You?"
"We were born this century, so." Kimiko stated.
"Oh, so ya'll are freshies." Luke leaned back. "Well, Yuri usually throws bangers. Should be a fun time."
As the trio made their way up the mountain, the small talk continued until they finally reached destination.
"You two comin'?" Luke asked as he noticed Kimiko and Cal lag behind.
"We're gonna take in the sights." Cal told him. "Meet you at the lodge."
As the couple walked over to a wooden rail, they peered out over the mountain. Kimiko stood in front of Cal, his hands resting on her hips.
"Bet this place is gorgeous in the sunlight." Kimiko commented.
"Sucks we arrived as late as we did." Cal agreed.
"Although, the moonlight does give off its own effect." Kimiko stated as she turned around in Cal's arms. She reached up to wrap her arms around his neck.
The two stayed like that, basking in the other's embrace. Until the moment was abruptly ruined.
A sudden scream out of nowhere startled the two as Makio jumped out from behind a tree.
Kimiko fell in the snow while Cal stumbled trying to keep her upright.
Makio burst into laughter as she clapped her hands.
"You should've seen your fucken faces!" She hollered.
"Not funny!" Kimiko pouted as she brushed the snow off her clothes.
"Kinda funny." Makio insisted. "Now, would you two like a guide to the-"
A far off scream, almost like a screech, caught their attention.
"Another of your jokes?" Kimiko asked.
"Not that one." Makio shook her head as she gestured to the area the noise came from. "Probably some of the other guests fucking with each other." She told them.
"We met Luke." Kimiko told her. "How many other guests did Lilly invite?"
"Seven." Makio answered. "Excluding Jenn. She decided to stay back."
"Of course." Kimiko rolled her eyes. "Can't keep up ever since she got knocked up."
"Yeah…" Makio crossed her arms. "Anyway, let me tell you about this place on the walk up."
"This place has a history?" Cal asked.
"Yeah. And a rather fucked up one at that." Makio answered. "It's why Lilly's family was able to get this place so cheap."
"What happened?" Kimiko questioned before Cal had the chance.
"Back in '52, a cave in trapped 30 miners in pitch black for sixty-nine days." Makio explained. "I don't know much about the exact details."
"Goddamn." Cal said under his breath as the three trekked up to the lodge. "How'd they manage to find food in a mine for sixty-nine days?"
"They didn't." Makio answered. "They only had each other."
"Aww." Kimiko said as if it were adorable, but the look on Makio's face said otherwise.
"What do you mean by that?" Cal asked.
"The bodies they found had bite marks and defensive wounds." Makio continued. "I don't exactly know what's cute about cannibalism, Sayori."
"I didn't think that's what you meant!" Kimiko cried in response.
"Well, the history don't stop there." Makio continued. "In 2014, a bunch of-"
Makio was abruptly cut off as a stranger jumped out from behind a tree, scaring the trio.
Cal responded by throwing a punch, which barely missed connecting with the strangers cheek.
"Whoa, tiger!" The man said as he dodged the punch. "Thought you guys were someone else. Waiting on a few friends. Name's Trevor." he introduced himself with an outstretched hand.
"Cal." Cal hesitantly shook the man's hand. "This is Kimiko." He gestured to his girlfriend.
"Julius." Makio said as she placed her hands on her hips.
"Nimh." Trevor said with a bowed head. "Always a pleasure."
"Likewise." Makio returned the gesture.
"How've you been?"
"Eh." Makio shrugged. "Not much changed. Other than these two joined my pack."
"Oh, new additions. Nice. Nice." Trevor commented. "Well, don't let me keep ya." Trevor moved out of the way, allowing the three to continue.
After a few steps, the three heard Trevor scream in fear followed by a woman's chuckling.
"Got you, baby dick!" She hollered.
"Whatever, mosquito bite tits." Trevor shot back. The two were clearly old friends with how they bantered.
"Anyway," Makio continued. "Where was I? Right. In 2014, a group of teens decided to throw some annual party at this very lodge. However, a prank gone wrong ended up causing two of the members, a set of twin girls, to run off blindly into the woods where they were never heard from again."
"Jesus." Kimiko said softly.
"In don't end there."
"Fuck!" Cal said in disbelief at the amount of tragic history this mountain had.
"The next year, during the next annual party, that same group of kids ended up losing more members."
"Seriously? How?" Kimiko questioned.
"No one knows for certain, but the media said it was a 'coked up bear attack'." Makio answered.
"Jesus."
"Why would Yuri want a place like- wait. Nevermind. Whole 'goth girl' vibe schtick." Kimiko stated. "I see why she got it. Especially if it was on the cheap."
"Yeah." Cal agreed.
The rest of the way up was rather uneventful as the trio talked about recent activities they got up to.
Down the path a bit, Luke, and his girlfriend Kyu, were throwing snow at each other. She was a petite, nerdy looking girl with a side ponytail and purple highlights. Her smile revealed a set of razor sharp fangs, identical to Lilith's.
"Alright, alright, enough!" Kyu giggled as she brushed the snow off her clothes. "Geez."
"I think I won." Luke said as he strolled up to Kyu.
"Sure ya did, hotshot." Kyu rolled her eyes as she playfully shoved Luke.
"Well, I'm not-" a far of screech interrupted Luke. "Did you hear that?" Luke asked Kyu.
"Yeah. What was it?" She asked as she moved closer to Luke.
"Probably some of the others fucking with each other." Luke said before turning back to Kyu.
He jumped as he saw a hooded figure standing directly behind Kyu.
"Jesus!" Luke shouted as he punched the figure square in the nose.
"Ah!" The man stumbled back in the snow and tripped down onto his ass. "What the fuck, Luke?!" His hood slid down, revealing the bloodied lip of another black man with a buzz cut. His purple eyes shined in the darkness.
"Shit!" Luke rushed forward. "My bad, Vince. That screech had me on edge."
"Clearly." Vince rubbed his nose as the couple watched the cut quickly heal as good as new. "Didn't even hear me walk up."
"Sorry." Luke apologized again.
Finally arriving at the lodge, Lilly greeted them.
"Oh, I'm so glad you could make it!" She hugged Kimiko then Cal.
"You two are fresh faces."
"We keep getting that." Cal commented as he held Kimiko close. She had her arms wrapped around him.
"Don't tell me you snagged that nice piece of ass." A new voice said from the top of the stairs. His speech was slurred, and he held a red party cup with, presumably, alcohol in it.
"Oh, God." Lilly rubbed her eyes. "Who the fuck invited him?!"
"Who is this?" Kimiko asked.
"He's-"
"Just the man who can- can rock yer f…fuckin' world, pretty lady." the man's speech was slurred.
"Alright, dude." Cal moved protectively in front of Kimiko. "Chill out on the drink a little, yeah."
"Don't tell me what to do. I'll take your bitch by morning."
"You'll be dead by then." Cal growled.
kimiko didn't know what to make of the entire situation as she hid behind Cal.
"Give me that, Victor!" Lilly shouted as she snatched the cup from the man. She sniffed it and immediately pulled her nose away from the cup with a scrunched up expression.
The man continued to drunkenly approach the couple.
"Back off, drunkie." Cal growled protectively.
"You think you can take me?" Victor chuckled.
Cal shoved the man once he got too close, causing him to stumble backwards and topple over the couch side table.
"Don't come near us." Cal warned.
"I'll-"
Before Victor could continue, a grey cloud formed inside the lodge directly above both Cal and Victor. Lightning struck around them as rain fell from the cloud.
"There will be no fighting here!" Lilith boomed, her voice enunciated by the thunder. "Stop antagonizing, Victor."
"Seriously."
"And you!" Lilly turned to Cal. "Wait outside."
"What-"
"Just do it." She said more softly.
Doing as told, Cal and Kimiko went outside.
"You come here, uninvited!" Lilith shouted at Victor. "Drink my liquor! Fuck with my friends! Tell me why I shouldn't castrate you with rusty scissors!"
Victor could only glare at Lilith in response.
"One word, and I will send your ass into the middle of the ocean."
"You can't do that kind of magic." Victor challenged.
"Try me." Lilith dared.
In reality, she knew nothing of teleportation magic.
But Victor didn't know that.
With a click of his tongue, Victor turned around to head for the kitchen.
"I find you with another bottle, so held me Lord!" Lilly shouted before heading outside to meet with Cal and Kimiko. "Sorry about that."
"Not your fault." Cal told her. "Like you said, punk ass bitch was uninvited."
"Cal!"
"He is!" Cal insisted. "The way he talked about you. The nerve!"
Kimiko opened her mouth to bring up Cal's cheating, and how that was arguably worse, but instead bit her tongue.
"Well, here, I hope this may cheer you two up." Lilith presented a key.
"What's this?" Cal asked as he took the key.
"It's to a small cabin just down the trail." Lilith told them. "Nice and secluded for any… fun activities you two could come up with to keep warm."
"Care to join us?"
The question came from Kimiko, which caught both Lilly and Cal completely off guard.
"Is… is that a legit offer?" Lilith asked as she glanced at Cal, who, wisely kept his mouth shut.
"As legit as you want it to be." Kimiko placed a hand on her hip as she stared into Lilly's soul.
"I would in a heartbeat." Lilith said as she placed a hand over her chest. "But I have to stay here and make sure Victor doesn't fuck something up. Rain check."
"Rain check." Kimiko agreed. "But, if you change your mind, you'll know where to find us."
Lilly's face turned a bright, tomato red. "I'll… keep that in mind."
Before Lilly could walk back inside, Kimiko grabbed Lilly by the collar of her jacket and pulled her into a bold kiss.
Cal's hands went to his head, then to his mouth, this his sides, then back to his head as he looked around. His girlfriend was openly making out in front of him. With another girl.
Whatever came over Kimiko, Cal was not going to question it. Nor could he. Technically given, if Kimiko wanted to bed someone else, it'd be only fair to let her since Cal himself cheated with Monica. Twice.
Then again, the second time wasn't entirely by choice. Arguably.
As they followed the pathway towards the cabin, Kimiko glanced at Cal to see he was still mentally back on his girlfriend performing the Tongue Tango.
"So, did that do anything for ya?" Kimiko asked, snapping Cal back to reality.
"You have no, fucking, idea." Cal answered, quite honestly.
"Good." Kimiko boldly caressed Cal's crotch as she kissed his neck. "Cuz I want you nice and ready."
"Dear God." Cal gulped as Kimiko left him to continue the path.
Shaking away his initial daze, Cal jogged to catch up with Kimiko.
However, unbeknownst to the two of them, something moved in the trees. Something quick.
