Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me by Akira Yamaoka (in the earlier parts of the chapter)
There she was, lurking in the corner of my eye, before vanishing so quickly that I almost couldn't process what she looked like. Long ebony hair, prominent eyebrows, blue eyes, and she wore white without shoes. With the way she was, I would have mistaken her for a specter in this otherwise abandoned waiting room. Who is she? I didn't know but I knew she was related to this abandoned hospital but her reason for being there wasn't clear. No, not at that point.
One occasion, I felt prompted to chase after her but she quickly vanished, leaving behind an identification band. In my first encounter with the "Waiting Room Girl", I didn't notice this band and, from I could read, had a few scribblings but not a name, though, it had an identification number. Whoever this girl was had the patient ID number of 050195 and I would guess that her patient ID number was her birthdate. I would leave the hospital with her ID band and, as I left, I felt as though she was watching me through one of the dusty windows. Who is 050195?
I would discuss her with my friends. They don't understand why I tend to explore abandoned places, much less a hospital. "That's not the only time I've seen her but it's the first time I found something that clues me as to who she is." I told them, showing them the band. Gamagoori told me that I should pick a different past time, while Uzu suggested that the girl is "feral".
"She didn't look feral, Uzu."
"So? She's a girl that lives in an abandoned hospital. Sounds 'feral' to me."
"Well, I know she's around my age, at least."
Houka wondered as to how I figured that and I told him that her ID number is likely her birthdate, since they tend to identify patients by their birthdays. He took the time to point out that the hospital band she left behind is different than the usual hospital bands, specifically, he noted that this hospital band more akin to a medical bracelet. "Most hospital ID bands are paper but this one is plastic with a metal frame to hold her information." he pointed out, before noting how unusual this medical bracelet is.
"Usually, medical bracelets don't have something that resembles tracking devices and this looks like it might be a tracking device more so than a medical bracelet."
"And...?"
"Medical bracelets don't generally look like this one either. It's an identity band, yes, but it's not like any you'd find, usually."
Aside from that, he opted to look up the number on it but didn't come up with anything, though he did wonder if the hospital had any remaining written records about 050195. As he told me this, Uzu suggested that 050195 needed a name. I wasn't sure what to call her but I opted to go with "May", after her birthdate.
Despite their advice, I found myself returning to the hospital, though with something for her to eat, a few apples. I made a point to hide away, to see if "May" would be less shy when she thinks she's alone. I would wait for about an hour before she appeared. She inspected an apple before uttering something, though I couldn't make it out. However, after inspecting it more, she promptly opted to eat it or, rather, nibble on it, before something startled her.
Interestingly, as she fled, she snatched up the apples and vanished into the corridors. The next day, I found only the basket, exactly where I left it initially. I would make note of that observation.
Authoress Notes: As said before, the fic was inspired by a song, however, I should point out that the actual song that inspired it, "Ketsuraku Sekai" (or any songs on that album) may or may not appear as BGMs in the fic but, still, the fic is gonna use some tracks that we've not heard in other fics of mine. However, some chapters might not have BGMs.
On another, be mindful that this fic might not be updated so much. I'm going through something major.
