Octavio Pie sighed as he relieved himself onto a pile of rocks out in the field. This was the way he'd been trained to take care of his bodily needs now that he was old enough not to need those old fashioned chamber pots. Supposedly, he'd heard his older sisters all talking about something else that could be used in place of rocks, but he didn't know what that something was and to be honest he didn't really care. Rocks were a perfectly acceptable bathroom to him, and his parents had not said or done anything to discourage him from using them as such.

Making use of a small stream nearby, Octavio cleaned himself up and washed his hooves until they were sparkling clean again. His potty break now complete, he was ready to go back to helping his family on their rock farm, pushing and sorting rocks around all day. Sure, it was hard work, but it gave him time to be alone with his thoughts. More importantly in his mind, it allowed him to get away from his obnoxious older sister, the one with the pink coat that stood out so starkly in contrast to the browns, greys, and dull blues of the rest of his family. Ever since that one day when she claimed to have seen this one of a kind thing, she had been super cheerful, super bouncy, and super annoying. He didn't hate her, how could he when she was the only one among the siblings who ever seemed to acknowledge him? But he really couldn't stand her consistently positive, carefree attitude.

Well, working in the fields sorting rocks would push all thoughts of her to the back of his mind. So the little colt trotted around the rock farm, looking for a place for him to start working again.

Then, all of a sudden, who should come literally bouncing up to Octavio but his big sister Pinkie Pie? "Hiya, Octavio!" She greeted in that shrilly, high-pitched voice of hers, all the while flashing an exceptionally bright smile. "Where'd you go? You just up and disappeared right when I was starting to look for you," She let out a gasp! "Are we playing hide and seek again?! I thought it was supposed to be Maud's turner to be the seeker, not me."

Octavio groaned and had to resist the urge to roll his eyes at his big sister. "I wasn't playing hide and go seek with you, sis. I just had to go to the bathroom, that's all. Like you've never had to go while working in the fields?"

Pinkie shook her head from side to side. "Of course not, silly. I never go potty in the fields. Not since Mom and Dad got that new flush toilet installed in the outhouse. Seems kind of silly to have it all the way out there and not use it, don't you think?"

"A toilet? Is that what you and my other sisters use?" Octavio questioned with curiosity.

Pinkie Pie happily nodded. "Yesarooni! And it's the best thing! It's so much better than going number one or number two on rocks or in some antique chamber pot. Mom and Dad sometimes call it the Porcelain Celestia and talk about 'worshipping' it. But I don't see why they do, it's just a toilet, it's not something that can come to life or have feelings."

The earth pony colt groaned anew. "Whatever," He remarked with indifference. "I'm perfectly fine using rocks for a bathroom instead of having to go all the way out to the outhouse to do it. You can keep using that silly thing all you want. I prefer to answer nature's call in nature itself, just like my foreponies before me."

But the pink coated filly bounced around, preventing Octavio from walking away, "Aw, come on, little brother. The toilet's tons of fun, and not just when you're using it!"

"Really? How can a toilet be fun?" Octavio asked, sounding deeply suspicious and skeptical of his sister's claim.

Pinkie beamed happily as an idea seemed to come to her mind. "I'll show you how!" She declared, grasping Octavio by the hoof! "Come on, let's go! This works out for me because I was just about to go to the toilet anyway!" She eagerly whisked away him, carrying him across the fields with ease.

The journey ended only a few seconds or so later, as Pinkie Pie screached to a halt outside a worn out, neglected looking shack. It had a wooden door with a crescent moon carved onto it. And it stood all by itself, seemingly out in the middle of nowhere.

Pinkie then trotted up to the door and pushed on it. With an audible creek, the door swung on its hinges and opened up. Still holding onto her little brother, the pink coated filly bounced inside as the door slowly swung back around. It didn't shut all the way, though, and that allowed for the interior to be bathed in sunlight.

The whole place was dusty, dingy, and grimy. It looked as if it had gone years without being touched or repainted. And the wooden floorboards creeked and groaned whenever you stepped on them. It did not look appealing at all. But that only served to make the one object in the whole place stand out in bold detail.

Resting at the far end of the outhouse was a large, white object connected to a set of gleaming metal pipes. The object itself was round and weirdly bowl shaped, except for the top half which had some kind of seat in the shape of a curved horseshoe, and a box of some kind that looked like it had a removable top. Off to the left hoof side of it was a long, black colored chain that had an end you could pull on. And the chain itself seemed to be connected to the the box. It was unlike anything Octavio Pie had ever seen before.

Pinkie Pie grinned from ear to ear as she saw how utterly transfixed and fascinated her little brother seemed to be with the object. She knew what it was, of course. After all, she'd come out here to use it several times already, probably more so than anypony else on the rock farm. "This is your first time seeing a toilet, isn't it, Octavio? I know, I know, it's a lot to take in all at once. The first time I saw it, I could hardly believe my eyes. But Mom and Dad say that toilets are becoming very popular in Equestria, lots of places have them. Some apparently even have the toilet inside instead of in an outhouse."

Octavio blinked, eyeing the strange contraption in all its glory. The sheer size of it was overwhelming to him. How was it possible his sister could use something that was much too big for her? This seemed more like it was meant for full grown ponies, not ponies like him or his sister. "So, you use this instead of going in the fields or a chamber pot?" He questioned Pinkie.

Pinkie happily replied. "Yes indeedy! And like I said, it's tons of fun!"

"You said that already," The colt remarked as he rolled his eyes. "I don't see how something so… so… strange could ever be fun, even for you."

The pink coated filly giggled. "Aw come on, little brother. Don't be like that! I'm not making this up!" She then blushed as she remembered the original reason for her visit to the outhouse in the first place. "Uh, but first I kind of need to go to the bathroom."

"Really? You're gonna use that?" Octavio questioned. But he needn't have bothered asking, because he saw his older sister leap up and scramble onto the toilet seat after forcing the lid up, throwing it against the box at the back. He was amazed that she was able to sit down on the seat and let her back legs dangle off to either side. It looked for sure like she was far too small to be able to sit upon it. He thought for sure she would slip and fall. But she didn't.

Her blush growing by the second, Pinkie asked her little brother. "Um, do you mind turning around or looking the other way? It's not nice to watch other ponies go potty, you know."

"Sure, whatever." Octavio replied with a drawn out sigh as he nevertheless obeyed. Of course, even though he wasn't watching, he could still hear the sounds of something hissing, echoing into the toilet bowl. And that was followed by a series of plops and splashes, combined with a rather nasty smell.

Luckily, it was all over very quickly. "Okay, you can turn around now, I'm all done," Pinkie Pie instructed, and Octavio obeyed. He then watched as his little sister retrieved some olds newspapers from a stack nearby, and used them to clean her flanks, before depositing them into the toilet bowl. "And now for the best part!" She declared as she reached out a hoof to grasp the large chain laying nearby. Firmly taking hold of it, she pulled it down with all her might!

All of a sudden, the colt's unprepared ears were subjected to a loud, mighty roar! He couldn't see from his part what was happening, so he had no idea what was making the noise. He was glad when it ended a few seconds later with what sounded like a gurgle, though he was surprised his sister remained on the toilet seat instead of getting down.

"Wanna know what that was, little brother?" Pinkie Pie asked Octavio afterwards, all the while she continued to just sit on the toilet seat.

"You'll tell me even if I say no." Octavio replied with a frown.

Pinkie ignored the frown and explained. "That was a flush. It's how the toilet empties itself. You just pull the chain, and everything in the toilet disappears. It's almost like a magic trick!"

The earth pony colt just retorted in indifference. "Whatever, there's no such thing as magic," And he saw fit to ask. "Will you please explain how any of that is fun? It all sounds like a lot of work compared to just doing it the way ponies have always done it."

A mischievous grin suddenly seemed to form on Pinkie Pie's face as the pink coated filly appeared to eye the chain that had been used to activate the flush cycle. Then she turned her attention to her little brother. "There's only one way to find out, silly. Come up on here and I'll show you what I mean."

Octavio trotted towards the toilet. "And how am I supposed to get up there?" He asked, only to feel himself be lifted up by a hoof from his older sister. The two Pie siblings were now standing together on the toilet seat, which was somehow big enough to accommodate the both of them without issue.

Pinkie's mischievous grin didn't seem to fade, even though Octavio didn't suspect a thing. "Ready to see how the toilet can be fun even when you don't have to use it?" She asked him, and received a reluctant nod as a reply. "Alright then. Just look down into the bowl."

The earth pony colt obeyed, eyeing the bowl very closely. He could see that there was water in, almost like a river or a small pond. And the surface looked smooth, almost mirror like. Only a few flecks of grime around the rim of the bowl suggested that it hadn't been kept in pristine condition. Meanwhile, standing on the toilet seat on his bare hooves made him realize how cold the seat was (and this was despite his sister having been sitting on it for some time). But he kept looking down at the bowl, expecting something to happen. Nothing did. "I don't see anything, sis." He said to her.

Suddenly, Octavio felt something shove him from behind! The unexpected force caused him to lose his balance and fall off the seat! He plunged into the bowl below, landing with an audible splash! He hastily scrambled to poke his head up, trying to get his bearings as he attempted to find a way out! "Sis, help!" He cried, bobbing up and down in the waters of the toilet bowl.

Pinkie Pie appeared but a second later, looking down into the bowl as that mischievous grin of hers was now easy to see. "Don't worry, Octavio. I'll get you out of there," She said in a reassuring tone of voice. Then she asked him. "You can swim, right?"

The colt nodded quite reluctantly. "Yes, but I don't see what that has to do with-" But his sentence was cut off as he saw his sister grasp the chain that was used to activate the toilet's flush cycle! Surely she wasn't about to do what he thought she was about to do, was she?!

Sure enough, Pinkie yanked hard on the chain! The flush cycle began again, this time with Octavio Pie in the toilet! The waters started to surge and spin, spinning poor Octavio around and around until he couldn't see straight! And it felt like something was tugging on his tail! "Here I come, Octavio!" Pinkie shouted, as she then jumped into the toilet bowl and landed next to him with a splash! Now she too was being swept up by the flush cycle, spinning around and around!

"What are you doing?!" Octavio cried in disbelief! "Why did you flush the toilet and then jump in?!"

The pink coated filly chipperly and eagerly explained over the roar of the flush! "This is what makes the toilet fun! This is just like being on a water slide!"

"But won't we go down the drain?!" Octavio questioned. "What happens then?!"

Pinkie giggled. "We're about to find out, Octavio! Just hold your breath and think happy thoughts!" And only seconds after she said that, the waters in the toilet bowl retreated, taking the captive Pie siblings with them. The hole at the bottom of the toilet suddenly appeared as the tugging sensation grew stronger! Before either of them knew it, they disappeared down the drain as the flush cycle ended! The last thing that could be heard from the both of them were garbled cries, followed by a series of bubbles just above the drain. And then, nothing. The toilet refilled itself slowly, but the Pie siblings were gone. Nopony would ever know they had been in the outhouse to begin with.

After being flushed down the drain, everything went dark for Octavio! He couldn't see where he was going or what was happening! He was tossed one way and then another, constantly bumping and brushing up against things that felt cold and metallic. All the while, all he could hear besides his own screams were the cries of joy his sister was shouting from behind him! She seemed to think the whole thing was a fun adventure. How in the world of Equestria she could think such a thing was beyond him. This wasn't weird, this was downright insane!

At last, just when it looked as if there was no end in sight, a light appeared ahead. Seconds later, both Pie siblings tumbled out through an opening, only to land in a very dark and smelly place filled with icky, murky colored water.

To say that Octavio was freaked out and grossed out by such a thing would be an understatement. As soon as he caught one whiff of his surroundings, he gagged and recoiled! "EW! What in the name of Celestia is that repulsive place?! I don't like it! It's so horrible!"

"Aw, come on, it's not that bad once you get used to it," Pinkie Pie declared as she briefly splashed about in the muck without a care in the world. "That was so much fun, don't you think, Octavio?"

"Fun?! You call being flushed down a toilet fun?!" Octavio remarked with narrowed eyes! "That wasn't fun at all! That was beyond scary! Don't tell me you've done this to yourself before!"

Pinkie nodded and willingly confessed. "You bet I have! Sure, maybe the destination's not a whole lot of fun, but everything else is. It's a ride you can't find anywhere else, and it leads you to a place that's full of mystery. Maybe it's not for everypony, though."

Octavio groaned. "Whatever, you can keep flushing yourself down the toilet as much as you want to for all I care! For right now, I just wanna know how in the hay we get out of…. Whatever this place is! I just wanna get back to the rock farm."

The pink coated filly stood up, putting a soggy hoof to her chin. "Well, that might be a problem. We can't go back the way we came."

"You don't know how to get back?!" The earth pony gasped in disbelief!

Pinkie protested. "Of course I know the way back. I just… don't remember because it's been a while since I did this. And I think some of the pipes and plumbing got reworked from the last time I came down here" She confessed with a sheepish blush.

"Great. Just great," Octavio Pie sarcastically commented. "So now we're stuck down here in this horrible, stinky, dark place!"

"No we're not," Pinkie Pie insisted. "We can find our way back eventually. I'm sure if we walk around for long enough, I'll find something familiar. Worse comes to worse, Mom and Dad will probably come looking for us eventually. Or somepony else might find us and get us out," She then excitedly exclaimed! "Ooh, or maybe we'll run into the alligators that live down here!"

Upon hearing those words, Octavio jumped back in shock and surprise! "There are alligators living here?!"

Pinkie nodded. "That's what big sis Limey says. She says that ponies used to keep alligators as pets, until they got too big. Then they flushed them down the toilets, and they all live down here," Her eyes then spotted something in the distance. "Ooh! I think that's one of them now!"

As if on cue, two purple colored eyes popped up from the murky waters! And sure enough, they belonged to an alligator with bright green scales! Strangely enough, this alligator didn't seem to be all that big. It looked to be just as big as the Pie siblings, maybe a little bit smaller. And it had a blank expression on its face.

Octavio Pie screamed at the top of his lungs, running and jumping behind his older sister! "Don't eat me, Mr. Alligator! Take my sister, she's the reason we're down here to begin with!"

"Hey, you don't wanna eat me," Pinkie said to the tiny alligator. "I don't taste very good, trust me," She trotted towards it, her hooves splashing audibly in the stinky waters with every step she took. "Do you know how to get out of here, little guy?"

The gator blinked again, and its overall expression did not change in the slightest. But after it had stood there for a little bit, it turned around and began wandering off into the distance.

"Great, follow the leader!" Pinkie Pie encouraged as she trotted after the tiny gator.

Octavio, unable to think of any better option, shrugged his hooves and followed his sister. At least it beat standing around and doing nothing.

The tiny alligator led the Pie siblings along what appeared to be some kind of path made of solid bricks, all of them stained and coated with the murky waters that flowed through in between the bricks on either side. The light slowly but surely seemed to grow just the faintest bit brighter.

At last, the gator stopped near some kind of ladder. Light was streaming down from above, indicating that there was some kind of opening that led back to the surface.

"Hey, thanks a ton, Mr. Gator!" Pinkie Pie said with a smile. "I think we can take it from here." And she approached the ladder without hesitation.

Octavio Pie followed, eager to return to the surface and get back to his family's rock farm. He never wanted to go down into this horrible place ever again. Yet he was surprised when he saw the alligator that had led him and his sister to this point opted to climb into Pinkie's mane, nuzzling into it despite how damp it still was.

"Aw, you wanna come back with me?! That's so sweet! I'm so touched!" Pinkie happily declared! "I've always wanted a pet, but Mom and Dad said I'm not old enough or responsible enough to have one," Then she let out a gasp and excitedly proclaimed! "I know! I'm gonna call you Gummy!"

Octavio could not believe his eyes or ears! His big sister was going to bring back a tiny alligator that she had apparently befriended just like that. And he thought she couldn't get any more crazy than she already had been. But there was very little he could do about it. So instead, he just concentrated his efforts onto climbing the ladder, desperate to get back home.

One thing was for sure, though. Octavio didn't want anything to do with toilets. Not when they could send you to such dark and foul smelling places that were populated by alligators. His older sister Pinkie might be okay with all of that, but he was not.
