Things are starting to move forward for Elena. Just a few days ago, she filed for divorce from her soon-to-be ex-husband, and today she's looking at a new apartment. Elena never really thought this would actually happen in her life. She never pictured herself getting divorced and moving into her own place. She also never thought her soon-to-be ex-husband would actually cheat on her either.
While Elena and Jenna were waiting for the Realtor Josephine LaRue to show up and show Elena the apartment, Elena's cell phone vibrated in her hand. She looked down and saw that she had received a text from Caroline wishing her good luck on the apartment hunt and hoping she'd get it. She also got another one from Bonnie asking if she wanted to join her and Stefan for dinner tonight. Elena responded with a message saying she'd love to join them for dinner.
"Have you heard from Tyler?" Jenna asked a moment later.
Elena sighed, shaking her head. "No, but I'm sure I'll hear from him sooner or later." She was kinda hoping that once he signed the divorce papers, she'd never have to hear from him again and could officially move on with her life.
Jenna nods her head a little." You know that once you get the apartment, you're going to have to go back to the house to get your stuff." She said, reminding Elena that she's going to have to go back to the house she once shared with Tyler.
Elena sighed again. "I am very aware of that, Aunt Jenna," she said, then noticed Josephine LaRue pulling up behind her. Elena then got out of her car and met with Josephine LaRue.
"Ms. Lockwood, I presume?" Josephine LaRue asked once Ms. Lockwood got out of her car.
"It's Gilbert actually," Elena answered with a deep breath as she then looked over at Jenna. "And this is my aunt, Jenna Saltzman," she said as she introduced her aunt to the realtor.
"It's nice to meet you both," Josephine said as she shook both their hands. "I thought your last name was Lockwood. Since that's what you told my assistant."
Elena nodded her head." True, I did. But because of my divorce, I just figured that I'll start using my maiden name again." She said, shrugging her shoulders little.
"Are you ready to see the apartment?" Then follow me," she said when both Elena and Jenna nodded their heads. Josephine then led them upstairs to her new apartment, hopefully.
Ric was in the middle of watching sports on TV when the front door opened, and he noticed Jenna and Elena walking in. "Hey, how did it go?" he asked, turning off the TV and setting the remote down on the coffee table.
" Well, I've just signed the lease for the new apartment and I get to move in this weekend," Elena said excitedly as she hung up her jacket on the coat rack.
"Wow, that's great, Elena! I'm excited for you. Congratulations," Ric said, giving his niece a hug.
Elena hugs him back and lets him go." Thanks, Uncle Ric. I'm going to go jump into the shower and get ready for work," she said as she walked past them and headed upstairs.
Elena was sitting at her desk checking inventory and seeing if there are any new books she needs to order and stock up again when she heard a knock at her office door. "Come in," she said as she continued going through the inventory.
Opening the door, April stuck her head in for a moment. "Hey, there's a man out here asking for you. He says that he's your lawyer."
Damon is here? Elena thought to herself when she closed her binder and set her pen down." Thanks, April. Um, can you let him know I'll be right out?"
"Sure thing. By the way, you should totally go out with him. He's hot," April said with a smirk as she closed the door.
Elena couldn't help but snort a little shaking her head. Taking a deep breath Elena got up from her desk and walked out of her office and towards the front. Looking around Elena found Damon browsing through one of her books. But of course that's what caught her attention. What caught her attention was that Damon isn't in a suit and tie, like he was the last time she saw him. Instead Damon is just regular clothes. Pair of Levy Jeans and a nice button down shirt. Damn April is right he is hot.. Elena scowled herself as she closed her eyes and shook the thought from her mind. Damon Salvatore is her Lawyer and that's it.
"That's a good book," Elena said with a smile as she walked over to him.
Damon chuckled, nodding his head as he placed the book back on the bookshelf. "So I've heard."
"Not that I'm not happy to see you here, Damon, but why are you here?" Elena asked, curious about why Damon was at her bookstore.
Damon blew out a breath as he answered her question." Well, you haven't come into my office yet, and I just wanted to check in and see how you've been lately. How are you doing?" He asked softly as he looked down at her.
"I've been good. Just been busy working, and this morning, I went to look at a new apartment," Elena answered softly, moving her hair behind her ear as she looked up and gasped softly, noticing how blue his eyes were.
Damon then glanced down at her lips for a moment as he gently licked his bottom lip before he glanced back up into her eyes. "So, how did that go?"
"I signed the lease, and I'll be moving in this weekend."
Damon raised his eyebrows for a moment. "That's fast," he said. "Do you need any help?"
"Thanks, but I was going to see if my friend Matt could help me out this weekend."
Damon felt his heart sink a little as he was a little disappointed that she already had help. He then pushed the feeling down and cleared his throat." Well, just in case he's not free. Just give me a call and I'll be there to help out." He said with a friendly smile.
Elena nods as she smiles little. "Thanks, Damon. I will keep that in mind."
Elena was helping Bonnie in the kitchen while Stefan was in the living room playing with their daughter." "So are you excited to be moving into your own apartment this weekend?" Bonnie asked as she was still adding a few more things to the salad for tonight's dinner.
" Oh yeah, I am very excited. I think moving into my own place is the right move for me, and I can start over with my life."
"Are you scared of starting over?"
Elena sighs as she shrugs her shoulders. "A little scared mainly because I never really lived on my own before, I have always lived with someone. But now I'm not and this is a start of a new chapter of my life." Moving into her own place is going to be scary and she's not denying it. But it would also be a new adventure for her as well.
"Did Damon say anything about having to go to court?"
" When I asked him that question, Damon said that as long as Tyler signs the divorce papers, we don't have to go to court. But he also mentioned that Tyler might fight me on this." Elena is really hoping that they don't have to deal with it in front of a judge. But she won't hold her breath.
Bonnie nodded her head. "You know that Stefan and I are here for you. Anytime you need something, you can always call us." She said as she smiled warmly at Elena.
Elena smiles back as she also nods her head. "I know you guys are Bonnie, and I do appreciate it." It feels good to know that Elena has friends and family who are there for her and will always support her no matter what.
Closing her bedroom door, Elena walked towards her bed, took a sip of her wine, set her glass down by the lamp, sat down, leaned back against the headboard, picked up her cell phone, unlocked it, and called Matt.
"Hey Elena," Matt said as soon as he answered his phone.
"Hey Matt, are you free this weekend?" Elena asked after taking another drink of her wine.
"I think so. Why? What's going on?"
" Well, I am moving into my new apartment this weekend and I was hoping that maybe you can help me get all my stuff from Tyler's. Plus I really don't want to deal with Tyler by myself." Elena answered with a sigh.
" Um, yeah I think I can help you out. Am I the only one helping?"
Elena chuckled softly. "No, both Bonnie and Stefan are helping as well. Oh, do you think Rebekah can help as well?"
"I can ask her; she's supposed to help her mom out at the shop. But I think Rebekah can help out. So, I guess it's official, huh? Now that you've got your own place and everything."
Elena picked off the lint on her pant leg as she nodded her head."It would be official once he signs the papers. Have you talked to him lately?"
"Not lately, but Rebekah and I did see him with Vicki the other night."
"Where?" Elena asked, furrowing her brows.
Matt sighs deeply." At Russaritos. They were having drinks at the bar."
Elena just shrugs her shoulders." It's whatever, I mean once he signs the paper, he's free to do whatever he wants, even sleeping with Vicki." She said retortly.
Matt couldn't help but cringe. "Hey, I'm not happy with Vicki either. But she's still my sister." Matt said, reminding her that in the end of the day, Vicki is his sister no matter what.
Elena sighed, rolling her eyes. "Yeah, I know. But she's the reason why my marriage is falling apart. Can I just kill her?"
Matt snorts a laugh. "No, you can't kill her."
Elena sighs exasperatedly rolling her eyes again." I was joking, you know that I won't kill her." As much as Elena wants to kill Vicki Donovan for basically ruining her marriage, she can't do that to Matt even though she knows Vicki deserves it.
After Elena ended the conversation with Matt, she finished the rest of her wine and scrolled through her contacts, stopping at Damon's name. As she kept staring, she started to wonder if she should call him or not. But decided against it, since he's probably asleep, and not to mention she doesn't know what to say to him really.
