Chapter 16

When I was done scrubbing the travel dirt off of my body, I stepped out of the giant black marble shower. I dried myself off and started on my hair. As soon as that was dried I started to curl it. Hoping that it stays, I pinned it up and let it set for extra assurance. While that was setting, I started on my makeup. I decided that I was going to do a brown smokey eye with a nude lip. When that was all done I went to the walk-in and grabbed my new dress and heels. Since it was a low backed dress, I decided that I was going to not wear a bra. Then to make the night more interesting I wasn't going to wear underwear. After the dress was on and I slipped on my heels, I took the pins and let the curls fall. I looked at myself in the mirror, still fussing over my hair and the way it looked. I thought to myself 'Why am I so stressed? Is this what it's like to go on an actual date?' I haven't been on one for so long, even though it wasn't really a date. It was more like two friends who tried to date. I let out a sigh and was satisfied with how I looked, I headed down stairs.

As I got to the main floor the smell of delicious food hit my nose. I followed it to the kitchen and saw Bianca and Sam bent over the stove fussing. I saw that they had opened a bottle of vintage wine. I walked over to the cabinets and searched through them until I found the wine glasses. I started to pour myself a glass and looked around for Dean. When I didn't see him, I asked if he had come down the stairs yet.

"I think he is still in his room getting ready." Sam slowly turned, smirking at me.

"I see. Whatcha guys cooking?" I asked hoping to get the pressure off of me.

"Chicken penne with some steamed veggies and a tomato and mozzarella salad." Bianca said without turning around.

As I was going to make a snarky remark about how healthy that sounded, I felt a sharp chill run down my spine. I slowly turned around to see Dean checking himself over one last time. He was wearing the same jeans that we met in, a fitted black tee with a little vee at the neck and his leather jacket. I smiled into my wine glass and that's when his eyes met mine. Then he broke the contact and slowly made their way down and back up my body. Making my cells light up. He gave me a little smirk and made his way over towards me. He was trying to smooth out his jeans and his jacket. That's when a thought came across my mind 'Has he ever done this before?'

"So.. You ready to go?" He asked with a hint of nervousness in his voice.

"Yeah." I tried not to sound as nervous. I gulped down the rest of the wine, grabbed my jacket and purse and headed towards the door.

As we walked towards the door, I could hear Sam and Bianca whispering. Giggling. I shook my head and opened up the door. As we started towards the truck, Dean stopped in front of me and motioned for the keys.

"What… Don't trust my driving?" I smiled and jingled my keys in front of his face.

"Hmm… Maybe." He smiled, reaching for them, "Besides.. This is a date. It's the gentlemanly thing to do."

"Hmm.. I guess you can drive." I bit my lip and put them in his warm hand.

The drive into the city was quiet, but not an awkward quiet. There was some talking in the beginning. We talked about Sam and Bianca, about the house, and about the drive to Denver. As we talked, Dean was making it obvious that he was protective over his little brother. That made me smile. While we drove, I could hear his heart beating harder and faster against his ribcage. It was making it hard to talk to him. So I tried to distract him by giving him the directions to the pub that Bianca and I found on our shopping trip. His heart kept gaining speed as we pulled into the parking lot.

I smoothed out my dress as I got out of my truck. I looked at Dean, the sound of his heart still beating like a drum. He put a hand on my lower back and we walked towards the pub. The pub was fashioned after an old English pub. There wasn't much on the outside of it but as you walked into it, there were signs all over and old english decorations all over. The bar was in the middle of the building but there weren't many decorations that were drawing attention toward it. The crowd was a mix of all ages and classes. There were people there that just got off of work and some for the same reason that we were. It was busy for a Wednesday, but we were able to find a seat near the window. I placed my jacket on the back of the chair and got comfortable. As I got situated in my seat, I looked up and saw Dean smile and wink at me. Trust me when I say that, if I could blush… I would. After about a minute, a perky little blond came bouncing over towards us and gave us our menus.

"Hey there doll. My name is Jessica and I'll be your waitress for tonight. What can I get started for ya?" She winked at Dean, completely ignoring that I was there.

" Why doesn't the lady go first?" He said without taking his eyes off of me.

"Umm.. I'll have a glass of sauvignon blanc, please." I said looking at Dean.

"Sure, whatever and for you hon?" She never took her eyes off of Dean. I was starting to get annoyed.

"I'll just do Margiekugels." He said still never taking his eyes off of me.

She nodded, huffed and walked off. Wiggling her butt a little too hard. She was trying everything to get Dean to look her way. But alas, her attempts were futile. We just sat there staring at each other. His tongue slowly tracing his bottom lip and tucking it between his teeth. Man. That just does something to me. I tuned my ears to his heart. It was still beating fast. I finally broke eye contact and looked at the menu. It all looked so good. I finally decided on what I was going to get. By that time the perky waitress came back with our drinks. I was surprised that she even heard what I ordered as she set the drinks down. Then she asked us if we were ready to order. Dean ordered a burger and fries and I did a steak sandwich with fries.

"How bold of you." Dean took a sip of his beer.

"Well, I'm not going to order just a salad. I'm not Bianca." I chuckled while taking a sip of my wine. I was more surprised that she got my wine order right,

"So.. Have you ever done this? Go on a date I mean.." He asked as he took another sip on his beer.

"Haha. Not in a long time. The last time I did was in the 80's. And it was with Damon of all people." I laughed at the memory. Talk about awkwardness.

"He is the brother of Stefan… Right?" He looked shocked, "I never would've guessed."

"Never said we went on more than one. Even then, it was like two friends going out." I said taking a sip of wine.

"Hm. Well at least you have gone on a few. I think the first and last date I went on was in, like, middle school." He said kind of embarrassed.

"Look at us. Just a couple of adults who haven't done normal adult things." I laughed, "Side note. How did you not see that our waitress is basically throwing herself at you?"

"Because I have been staring at you in the little dress." His tone got low and he rubbed his stubble.

My mouth gaped open. What was I going to say to that? Instead I took a sip of wine. Just then, our food showed up. This time the waitress was putting on her 'best' moves. But Dean didn't pay attention, instead he started digging into his food. She huffed and walked away. I smirked and took a bite of my food. It was very good. We ate our food quickly. As we finished up, the waitress came over, grabbed our plates, and asked us if we wanted any dessert. Dean asked if there was any pie. She nodded and went to get him a slice.

"How are you still hungry?" I asked. I was absolutely stuffed.

"There's always room for pie." Dean winked.
