Roronoa Zoro
Backstory:
Roronoa Zoro, also known by his former epithet of "Pirate Hunter" after the Raid his new title of "The King of Hell", is the premier swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates and a member of the Monster Trio. Recruited as a mildly notorious bounty hunter (hence his "Pirate Hunter" moniker), he is a monstrously powerful man who doesn't wield the power of a Devil Fruit, using a unique Santoryu Sword Style in a battle of his own creation, wielding a sword in each hand along with one in the mouth. Zoro mostly drinks and sleeps in his spare time (when he is not busy training to get stronger) but can become such a real demon in battle that many people often wondered why someone of his strength isn't the captain. Whenever he engages in a serious fight, he tends to tie a bandana around his head. Also, he has a horrible sense of direction.
Similar to Luffy's goal, Zoro wishes to become the greatest swordsman in the world as a promise to his childhood rival Kuina, whom he wanted to win against but never could because she died in an accident. Unlike Luffy, however, he needs only to defeat Dracule "Hawk Eyes" Mihawk, the current greatest swordsman in the world, to do so. He actually meets up with Mihawk fairly early in the story but failed to land even a single hit and was effortlessly defeated by Mihawk for his trouble. However, the man held back just enough to leave Zoro alive and told him to challenge him again when he was ready.
In a strange twist of events, after the Sabaody Island Incident, he is trained by Mihawk, the adversary he swore he'd defeat someday, for two years to become a stronger swordsman to protect his crew. For giving up his pride for the sake of others impresses Mihawk enough to agree. From his training with him, he finally learned how to turn his swords into Black Blades too (Busoshoku Haki, his specialty) as well learn Kenbunshoku Haki.
Mainly because of his strength and for going alongside Luffy's battles, Zoro is counted as a member of "The Worst Generation" like his captain.
Powers and Abilities:
Superhuman Physical Characteristics,
Master Swordsman,
Enhanced Senses (Can consistently react to attacks not in his line of sight, Figured out the magistrate was the killer he was being framed for when he smelled blood on him),
Supernatural Willpower (Can survive and shrug off wounds and pain that are incredibly lethal, can also utilize his own willpower to form tangible illusions),

Capable of sensing the "Breath" of all things, allowing him to know the trajectory of something's movements before it happens as well as it's location despite not being visible to him. By doing so he can determine the speed, power and angle of where he should cut at allowing him to cut objects he otherwise couldn't with strength alone),

Madness Manipulation,
Mind Manipulation and Soul Manipulation via Willpower (Through sheer willpower they can resist losing their mind when absorbing shadows through the Kage Kage no Mi. Shadows belonging to strong willed people are difficult to control, allowing them to rebel against Moria's pact which usually immediately submits a shadow to his supremacy and orders. Spiritual energy is contained within one's soul/life; this energy is represented by the fighting power or the Haki itself. Those with strong souls, which are homologous to shadows, resist the effects of Brook's soul manipulation)
Same as before,
Haki (Advanced Color of the Conquerer, Intermediate Color of Observation, Advanced Color of Armanents),
Energy Manipulation (Capable of reclaiming his Haki even after it was stolen by Enma back into his body; can stabilize and allow how much Enma can drain from him. Is capable of manipulating this Haki after it was stolen coating it on his three swords),
Statistics Amplification (By allowing Enma to unleash his Haki it brings it out in greater quantity granting him even greater attack power),
Technique Mimicry (Copied Kin'emon's Fire-Fox Style),
Limited Non-Physical Interaction (With Kitsunebi-ryu he can forcibly split apart and harm beings made of pure fire),
Pseudo-Flight (With Clear Lance he smacks the air hard enough to propel himself),
Resistance to Energy Absorption (After training to use Enma he can utilize it normally without it forcibly releasing his Haki against his will),
Limited Power Nullification and Stamina Absorption (Scaling to other/lesser Haoshoku Haki users who can resist the effects of Seastone to different extents)
Weaknesses: Zoro is also rather reckless in battle, regardless of how many injuries he suffers and how much blood he loses, although he is still capable of keeping a cool head under pressure.
Erza Scarlett (Up to original manga's conclusion)
Backstory:
Erza Scarlet is an infamous S-Class Mage titled "Fairy Queen Titania." She is renowned for her combat prowess as well as her status as one of her guild's most stern disciplinarians. She was imprisoned together with several other slaves, most of which were children. Among these children were Jellal Fernandes, Shô, Simon, Wally Buchanan, and Millianna. While they asked each other for their names, she said that her name was just "Erza." Hence, Jellal decided to give her the surname "Scarlet" after her scarlet hair so they would never forget it. Eventually, she rebelled against the cult and escaped, but not without losing Jellal, who had been corrupted by Zeref's Dark Arts. She also served as the guild's 7th Guild Master during Makarov's absence in X792.

Song: Fairy Tale of the Sword
Beneath the bright, sunny blue sky of Fiore, an S-Class mage named Erza Scarlet strolled through the picturesque town of Magnolia, widely known as Titania. The wind gently blew her scarlet hair as she walked, her destination: a pastry shop to procure her favorite treat, strawberry cake.
From across the road, a lone pirate was searching for his crewmates, his expression displaying a focused determination. Roronoa Zoro, wielding three swords and exuding a stoic aura, was on a quest to find the shipyard, yet despite his confident demeanor, he was hopelessly lost. His right hand rested casually on the hilt of his trusty sword, a memento of his late childhood friend and rival, Kuina.
Erza Scarlet halted in her tracks, astonished at the unexpected encounter. She recalled a wanted notice bearing this man's face, but remained ignorant of his heroic deeds. His current bounty stood at a whopping 1.111 billion Belly, equivalent to an astounding 730 million Jewels when converted into Erza's native currency. In all her experience, she had never encountered someone with such a high price on their head, everyone else only being a fraction so, which meant this pirate had to be dangerously feared and powerful.
Erza materialized a longsword with her magic, her intentions clear as she pointed it straight at Zoro, the Straw Hat's first mate. She spoke with a commanding tone, declaring,
"So we meet at last, pirate hunter. Surrender quietly, and no harm will come to you."
Erza was determined to apprehend him, her resolve fueled by the sheer magnitude of his lofty bounty. Undaunted by Erza's threat, Zoro displayed no outward reaction, confident in his prowess as a swordsman. He coolly declared,
"I'm occupied right now. I haven't got time to fight anyone pointing a sword at me."
He brushed past Erza, who stood frozen in shock and offense, perplexed by his nonchalance. Detecting her movement through his keen Observation Haki, Zoro swiftly unsheathed his two swords and blocked Erza's incoming attack from behind, thwarting her attempt to catch him off guard. She asserted firmly,
"Don't ignore me, pirate!"
Zoro took a stance, tensing his upper arms, causing his muscles to grow visibly larger. He unleashed one of his less known techniques, shouting,
"Two Sword Style: Two Gorilla Slash!"
With tremendous force, he whirled around and countered with a double slash of immense gorilla-like strength. Erza managed to deflect the attack, but the impact pushed her back, propelling her into a nearby building's wall with a powerful crash.
Erza recovered from the forceful collision, shaking her head to clear her thoughts. She acknowledged her opponent's power, musing,
"What a formidable adversary. I must not underestimate him."
With a flash of magic, she changed her Heart Kreuz armor into the Flame Empress Armor – a form-fitting dragon-themed uniform that accentuated her features. Her hair shifted into two tall, long pigtails, adding a touch of unique styling. Zoro observed with interest as Erza changed her armor into a new form. Supposing she had a devil fruit power related to armor, he settled into a defensive stance in anticipation of her attack. Erza, now wielding a flaming sword, lunged towards him and swung with a powerful, fiery slash.
Zoro swiftly leapt backwards to create space, positioning Kuina's sword in his mouth to employ his renowned three-sword style technique. He infused his swords with flame through Foxfire Style, readying his next move.
"Oni Giri!"
Zoro crossed his two swords in front of his chest, securing the third sword horizontally behind them. Advancing towards Erza, he sliced through the fire with a powerful chest-crossing slash from his swords, creating a devastating diagonal-crossing cut from both weapons, complemented by a parallel horizontal cut from the sword held in his mouth.
Erza hastily attempted to defend against Zoro's onslaught, yet her flaming sword was overpowered and shattered in the process. To prevent herself from further collision with a wall, she rapidly activated her requip magic, transforming into the Giant Armor: an imposing, golden, furry attire adorned with a massive cross on the breastplate and completed with a headpiece bearing grand metal ears. In her hand, she now held a lavish spear.
Gathering her strength, Erza firmly planted her feet in the ground and released a powerful cry as she hurled her De-Malevo-Lance, employing immense force. Zoro swiftly lifted one of his swords, holding it horizontally above his sword-holding shoulder. He then spun his sword in a circular motion, propelling a spiraling, air-compressed projectile towards the flying spear.
"1080 Pound Cannon!"
The compressed air slash successfully altered the spear's trajectory, leading Erza to transform once more into her Lightning Empress Armor. The armor, exuding gold and light blue hues, featured a headband encircled by two ribbons, along with a braid in her hair while wearing this armor. In addition, the armor's signature weapon was a lengthy spear boasting a gargantuan blade and a decorated circle mimicking a shield connecting to the shaft, encircled by a colossal ribbon. Zoro announced,
"Three Sword Style: Crossroads of Six Paths!"
In a display of acrobatic agility, he adeptly hunched his body and swung his swords, creating an inverted "S" shape while executing a vertical spin. In an instant, he unleashed six rapid slashes simultaneously, moving so swiftly that it appeared he hadn't moved at all. Despite the speed of the attack, Erza adroitly leaped backward, the ground beneath her now split into six distinct sections. With an expert flourish, Erza spun her spear before aiming it directly at Zoro, shouting,
"Lightning Beam!"
A powerful beam of electricity surged towards him. Zoro momentarily groaned, feeling the intensity of the electrifying energy. With a swift display of requip magic, Erza donned the Flight Armor, revealing a design that teetered on the edge of being armor, more closely resembling cheetah print underwear. She clutched two slender, short-sword rapiers, and propelled herself forward at breakneck speed, moving faster than the eye could discern. Zoro was forced to rely on his keen Observation Haki to monitor her movements, swiftly parrying each of her supersonic assaults.
In a bid to gain some space, Zoro leaped into the air, his body spinning in a dizzying motion.
"Three Sword Style: Great Dragon Twister!"
He shouted, generating a whirlwind shaped like a dragon that not only sliced but also dispersed debris around them. The swirling attack continued, its force akin to a true whirlwind, capable of cutting through anything caught within. Erza grunted, feeling the sting of minor cuts appearing across her body, her short swords shattered from the impact.
Erza quickly activated her requip magic once more, transforming into the Morning Star Armor. The suit consisted of a one-piece design, exposing her legs and adorned with fishnet leggings beneath. The upper portion was graced with high-heeled armored greaves, featuring large knee guards that enveloped her calves. Her arms were heavily armored in the same style. In this attire, her hair was fashioned into tangled buns on top of her head. Armed with a pair of swords featuring cross-shaped hand-guards and blades that appeared to lack standard cutting edges, the length of the blades progressively enlarged towards the edges.
Holding her swords extended towards Zoro, Erza focused a brilliant ball of light within her attack. With a yell, she exclaimed,
"Photon Slicer!"
A powerful beam of light emerged, which Zoro managed to deflect with his swords, yet the force of the impact pushed him back, propelling him through several buildings, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. Zoro, clearly winded, managed to lift himself back up, his forehead bleeding. As he observed Erza's vast selection of armaments, Zoro determined it was time to get serious. He adorned his head with his signature black bandana, a clear sign that he was ready to fight with unwavering determination.
With lightning speed, Zoro leaped from his position to the ground below. A hint of red flashed in his eyes as a green aura enveloped his entire body, imbuing his swords with Armament Haki. He blitzed towards Erza at an incredible pace, fragmenting the ground from which he had pushed off, creating a trail of blood in the shape of an 'X'. Moreover, a mighty shockwave emanated from the attack, razing the surroundings. He yelled the name of this technique,
"Purgatory Oni Giri!"
Erza reacted with astonishing swiftness, employing her requip magic to transform into the Antaraxia Armor. The armor manifested as a beautiful gown adorned with a skirt, fastened at the waist with a belt-like design. Shoulder-less sleeves and a petal-shaped ornament on her left hand graced the upper portion of the dress, while knee-high heel boots completed the look. Erza used her blade wings to form a protective shield, enduring Zoro's attack but noticeably straining from the effort required to ward off the force of the impact, pushing her signifigantly backward. In a warning tone, Erza cautioned,
"Careful, pirate, you might be sliced without even realizing it."
With a leap back, she separated her blade wings into individual swords and attacked Zoro from multiple directions in a coordinated assault. Zoro spent the following minute vigorously parrying and deflecting each sword strike, exerting diligent effort to prevent them from reaching his body. Zoro's voice dripped with sarcasm as he retorted,
"So much for your attack, it seems." He chuckled, only to gasp in surprise when slender lines of blood began appearing across his body, unaware that some had managed to land hits. Erza responded with a sly smirk, explaining,
"That's the secret: my Ataraxia swords are designed to cut so smoothly and precisely that you won't even notice until it's too late."
Zoro's strength waned, and he almost slumped to his knee, but he mustered his endurance, maintaining his stance. He adjusted his swords to resemble a spinning windmill from the front, infusing the blades with Armament Haki. He then rapidly spun his swords in widening circles at escalating speeds. In a loud declaration, he asserted,
"Across the nine mountains and eight seas, there exists nothing I cannot cut! You're finished! Three Sword Style: Great Three Thousand Great Thousand Worlds!"
Recognizing that evasion was not an option, Erza swiftly invoked her requip magic to don the formidable Adamantine Armor: a suit of white and navy-blue armor characterized by prominent spikes and a pair of half shields. Erza bellowed,
"Adamantine Magic!"
With a decisive slam, she joined her two half shields together, forming a full shield that manifested in front of her, just in time to intercept Zoro's closing strike. Erza's magic-enhanced armor and shield managed to withstand Zoro's onslaught, but she could feel the immense force of the attack reverberating through the enchanted metal. The residual energy that circumvented her armor not only ravaged the ground behind her but also sliced a path through a nearby mountain Northwest of the town, propelling billions of tons of rock countless feet into the air before they eventually cascaded back down to their original location, causing tremors that shook Magnolia Town to its core.
Erza's eyes widened in disbelief as she witnessed Zoro's devastating attack slice part of a mountain into the air, even after she had managed to block a considerable amount of its energy. The sheer force that had gone past her defense was so immense that it had sent a portion of the mountain flying upwards, without even directly targeting it. The question echoed in her mind,
"Just how strong is this pirate?"
Erza reached the conclusion that it was time to cease holding back, and she swiftly activated her requip magic to metamorphose into the formidable Black Wing Armor. The armor was enveloped in a deep black hue, accentuated by silver trimming and silver crosses strategically placed in various locations. The breastplate was cut low, revealing more than it concealed, and silver-edged plates adorned her hips, extending down to her waist guard. Most impressively, Erza possessed two wings composed of a dark metal framework and a membrane-like material essential for flight. Her hair was meticulously arranged in a ponytail.
Utilizing her wings to remain airborne, Erza launched a relentless assault, constantly transitioning between an array of weapons to keep Zoro on the defensive and prevent him from counterattacking. The S-class Mage was proving difficult to handle due to her ability to fly and her continuous weapon swapping tactics, forcing the pirate hunter to exert considerable effort to keep up with her agility.
Tapping into a deep reserve of determination and willpower, Zoro manifested an illusion of two additional heads and four extra arms, all wielding replicas of his swords in an impressive display of multiplicity. Simultaneously, a imposing three-headed, six-armed silhouette materialized behind him, bestowing upon him the aura of the mythological Asura. With a swift motion of his swords, he swung them with force, successfully sending Erza flying away.
Erza's artificial eye allowed her to discern that Zoro's additional arms and heads were mere illusions, not physical manifestations. However, despite their non-material nature, the illusionary swords gave off an air of danger, suggesting that even these phantoms could inflict harm. She recognized the need to exercise caution in avoiding them.
Erza invoked her requip magic to transform into her renowned Heaven's Wheel Armor. Plated armor covered her chest, adorned with a grand metal flower, and she donned a voluminous skirt equipped with metal plating in the higher region. Her midriff and neck were left bare, and her wings emerged as expansive, wing-like structures composed of numerous metal blades. Crowned with a matching headpiece, the armor exuded an aura of both protection and elegance.
Erza invoked her powers to summon a formidable array of 200 swords, which diligently circled around her, awaiting her command. She commanded them,
"Dance, my blades!"
In response, the swords commenced a rapid whirl, spinning around her in a circular formation. She then unleashed them towards Zoro in a disc-like arrangement, their speed and synchronization creating an impressive display. Zoro, anticipating a frontal assault, attempted to deflect the attack with his swords. However, the swords unexpectedly diverged, continuing their flight in various directions, catching him off guard and scoring significant hits.
Clutching two swords, Erza darted towards Zoro, her voice rising in intensity as she readied herself for a formidable pentagram slash. However, Zoro remained focused amidst the flurry of flying swords, honing his attention on the approaching S-Class Mage. With determination, he bellowed his technique,
"Asura: Silver Mist!"
Zoro positioned his swords such that the blades faced Erza, leaped towards her at incredible speed, and struck her simultaneously with all nine swords, finding himself behind her back, the blades spread out in a fanned formation. Both swordsmen cried out in pain as their bodies, too, were slashed from the attacks. Erza's with nine slashes across her body while Zoro had a pentagram on his chest.
Erza clenched her teeth together and, utilizing her requip magic, changed into her formidable Armadura Fairy Armor. The armor boasted a vibrant hue of pink and featured a simplistic breastplate connected to a collar adorned with numerous wing-shaped decorations. This armor was distinguished by its choice of weapons: a pair of identical swords bearing large and ornate handguards. It was, without a doubt, Erza's most potent armor in her entire arsenal.
Erza sprinted forward, raising her swords in preparation to strike. Zoro also advanced, twirling his nine swords in a whirlwind motion. The two warriors met in a head-on confrontation, and the S-Class Mage's adept skills enabled her to counter his assault with just her own pair of swords.
Zoro abruptly disengaged from the stalemate, evading one of Erza's counterattacks. He then attempted a twin downward cleave with his swords, but Erza demonstrated her prowess by blocking the attack. However, the sheer force of the impact caused her heels to dig into the ground, leaving a noticeable indentation.
The intensity of the duel escalated rapidly, with the two swordsmen engaging in a battle of unparalleled speed and brutality. The ground shattered beneath their feet, serving as temporary platforms for their aerial combat. Erza, despite matching Zoro's strength and occasionally pushing him back, struggled to keep pace with his remarkable agility, as Zoro effortlessly defended her strikes and delivered more blows that she stoically absorbed. With fiery determination, Erza proclaimed,
"You are strong, pirate, but witness true strength! I shall capture your bounty, in the name of my guild, my strength, and my friends!"
As she channeled profound energy into her swords, imbuing them with a brilliant green glow, she propelled herself with an all-mighty lunge, pouring her entire being and power into a thunderous final attack. Zoro, fueled by determination, soared into the air, wielding his nine swords, each infused with Armament Haki. He swung them in a unified attack, shouting the name of his technique.
"Asura: Demonic Nine Flashes!"
As the two powerful strikes clashed, an enormous explosion ensued, sending shockwaves through Magnolia Town, causing nearby buildings to be uprooted and sent hurling away from their foundations, only to be mercilessly pulverized into mere rubble and dust.
Everything had calmed, and two figures remained standing amidst a massive crater spanning multiple city blocks. Erza's armor had shattered, leaving her in her protective undergarment. She had no more defense to rely on, but her last attack had tapped into her full power and velocity. Zoro, too, braced himself for the final onslaught, undeterred by his own injuries and the damage he had sustained. Neither would yield to pain, with deep cuts adorning their bodies and bones fractured. This was the last stand for both fighters.
Erza issued a vehement warning, her determination unwavering as she channeled her magical energy into her weapon.
"Brace yourself, pirate! I shall end this battle with one mighty strike! Demon Blade Benizakura!"
With a final, resolute charge, she infused every ounce of her remaining magical power into her sword, her determination fueled by the dire predicament she found herself in, further galvanizing her will to pour her entire being into this concluding attack.
Gripping Enma tightly in his right hand, Zoro let Haki course through his body, as he infused his blades with Armament Haki, bolstered by the power of Conquerer's Haki, and black lightning crackled around him. With swift, synchronized slashes, Zoro moved past Erza with blinding speed, his cry echoing through the air as he unleashed his ultimate attack.
"Asura: Blades Drawn Dead Man's Game!"
As if time itself had slowed, both Erza and Zoro found themselves caught in a limbo, each striving to remain on the edge of consciousness as the recoil from their attacks manifested in a delayed fashion. Their mutual determination was palpable, each willing themselves to withstand the pain and pressure for as long as possible, awaiting the inevitable moment when one would yield in defeat.
As a cough expelled blood from her lips, Erza's eyes rolled into the back of her head, her body succumbing to gravity as she crumpled forward, the deep lacerations, totaling 27 in number, having drained too much blood for her to remain standing. Zoro, gasping for air, dropped to one knee, the remnants of his strength allowing him to sheath two of his swords, including Kuina's, and then he too succumbed to unconsciousness. Although he had nearly suffered defeat, his victory was marked by a subtle hint of satisfaction, signaling his acknowledgment of the arduous battle he had endured.
Strength: Zoro and Erza are certainly two of the strongest swordsmen in anime, and their strength shows. When Erza destroyed her mother's asteroid with her full strength, Death Battle determined her to be 56 Teratons. And previously, Zoro was determined to have cut Pica at 11 Megatons, but more recent and accurate math has determined that the attack was actually worth 17.25 Teratons. Multiplying his power by three with Asura Style, Zoro is only slightly weaker at just below 52 Teratons. A 1.077X difference.
Speed: However, Zoro was considerably faster. While Erza was able to fly at that same asteroid at 33% light speed, Zoro with Ovservation Haki can react to attacks at minimum 13X light speed, nearly making him nearly 40X faster.
Skill: This hasn't changed, as Zoro was still formally trained by the best swordsman in the world, Mihawk, while Erza was self-taught, even if she's become a master of beingself-taught.
Experience: Both are about equal in experience, being 21 years old, and facing an equal amount of diverse enemies.
Powers: Erza certainly has the more wider versatility, thanks to her various armors and weaponry, but she can only use a certain power set one at a time, depending on what she's using at the moment, which can let Zoro deduce the weakness of each one overtime.
Extra note: For Fairy Tale fans who wished Erza won this time, remember that this is Erza at the end of her original manga. As the 100 year quest sequel manga continues on, I imagine that she would become stronger and faster to the point that even with his Haki and superior skill, Erza will become the better fighter, if she hasn't reached it already.
Next time:
"Should something terrible be caused again by the Shikon Jewel, whatever it may be, I shall cut it down with my own hands."
"Nothing as trivial as a violent death or a few drops of demon blood mixed in with mine is going to keep me from helping out my friends and saving the world, and kicking the bad guy's ass."
