Are you ready for the last part of this first tale?
I have to warn you: It is again very conversation-heavy, but it does have a fluffy, sweet part as well.
I will soon post the next one here. I'm not sure yet which episode it will be based on, but it will probably be kicking up the rating of this collection.
For now, I hope you will enjoy the ending of this first tale.
The Love Retrieval Chronicles
Tale One - The Matrimonial Momentum
Part 3 of 3
Amy
"I would very much like to watch the wedding with you."
Amy chastised herself as she sat down on the couch.
This was not what she had wanted to say.
While Sheldon was sharing his thoughts about relationships… after he had apologized and especially when he was telling her he wanted to figure out a way to take a step forward… Her mind was full of things she had wanted to answer.
She had wanted to apologize as well. For leaving that night. For not giving him the benefit of the doubt. For not listening to him when they had talked over Skype.
And then she had wanted to hug him and tell him he was forgiven. For everything. And that she too had made mistakes she wanted to learn from. That they would learn to do better. Together.
At last, she had wanted to leap into his arms and kiss him. Tell him their break was officially over and that she was thrilled to talk about their next steps.
But the fact was that, in that moment, Amy Farrah Fowler felt completely overwhelmed by Sheldon Cooper.
Maybe because of all the sleep she had missed. Maybe because the spiraling thoughts that had tortured her for two days. Maybe because the embarrassment and guilt she felt because all of this could have been avoided, had they just communicated.
And maybe a little bit, because a tiny part of her found it hard to believe all the beautiful things Sheldon had just told her.
She craved a minute to process his words and her feelings about them. But she did not want to leave.
Hence, her request to sit down and watch the wedding with Sheldon.
And so, there she sat. In her familiar spot next to Sheldon. With his words still resonating in her mind.
She had longed to hear these words from him. All of them. And yet… she wasn't entirely sure what to make of them. What to think. How to react.
Could she really believe him?
Was he just trying to tell her what he thought she wanted to hear so she wouldn't break up with him and things could stay the same?
Amy scowled at herself.
Despite all the hurt and all the things, she was doubting, it wasn't fair to Sheldon to think the worst of him.
Besides, Sheldon was many things. But he wasn't a liar.
She knew that.
"Would you like me to get you a hot beverage?"
Sheldon's voice pulled her out of her thoughts.
Amy shook her head. "Thank you.", she said politely. "Maybe later."
She gave Sheldon a weak smile, hoping to convey what she was trying to. That she wasn't leaving after the wedding. That they would talk about things today. Just not right away.
"Alright.", he said, his face indecipherable. "Oh look, the livestream is starting."
Amy was grateful for the distraction.
She smiled as her best friend appeared on the screen and waved into the camera.
Penny looked happy. And beautiful. Not like a traditional bride, but it suited her. Penny had always liked to do things her way.
She glanced over to Sheldon.
In a very different way, the same was true for him. Earlier today, she had called it "his own messed up way". But now that she thought about it… how often had he surprised her with his unique ideas that no other person in the world would have thought of?
She turned back to the screen in time for the vows.
Penny, we are made of particles that have existed since the universe began. I like to think those atoms have traveled 14 billion years through time and space to create us so that we could be together and make each other whole.
Amy scrunched up her nose.
While Leonard definitely had put a lot of thought into this beautiful line, it seemed so… generic. Like something out of a poetry book. He could just switch out the name and it could be used at anyone's wedding to anyone else.
Penny's however… on first glance it wasn't romantic or thoughtful at all. She clearly hadn't prepared vows. Before this day, she probably hadn't even thought about any details regarding her wedding. But then she quoted a song from Leonard's favorite movie, which moved him to tears, proofing that, even if she didn't care about weddings, she cared deeply about Leonard and knew him better than anyone.
Again, she was able to draw a parallel to Sheldon.
She thought back to the day when he had quoted Spider Man to her. It was not a coincidence he chose that one. Because even if he did not want to show it, it expressed what he was feeling for her.
Those glimpses into Sheldon's own way of romance had given her hope over the years. And even if it hadn't always been easy, she knew she wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
She gulped.
Maybe she had been too hard on him after their anniversary.
Maybe somewhere along the way, between him boarding a train without saying goodbye and signing up to move to Mars, she had stopped appreciating all the things that made him special.
That made their relationship special.
Maybe she had focused on the negative too much.
She turned her face to look at him again, and her eyes widened, as she noticed a single tear running down his cheek.
And then, she felt her own eyes fill with tears.
"Sheldon…", she whispered.
He turned to her and only now did Amy see how distraught he looked.
"I'm sorry, Amy.", he croaked. "I am so sorry."
"Oh, Sheldon…", she whimpered. "I am sorry too. I didn't realize…"
She couldn't finish her sentence, because in that second, Sheldon reached for her shoulders and crushed her against his body.
Amy didn't have it in her to stop him. Maybe it was wrong with their relationship status unclear as it was, but she was unable to protest. Unable to not succumb to the undeniable urge to just be held.
She sighed, as she rested her face against his chest and for a second, she allowed herself not to think. To just feel and enjoy. The warmth of his body. His heartbeat against her cheek. The familiar scent of talcum powder in her nose.
Tears trickled down her cheeks. Tears of relief.
Finally, after two agonizing days, she felt whole again.
Tentatively, she wrapped her arms around his body and let herself sink further into him. Sheldon's grip around her only grew stronger. He was shaking, and she was afraid to look, but she was almost sure he was still crying. Just like she was.
She had no sense of time anymore. At some point, she noticed that the livestream had stopped. The wedding was over. The room was silent except for her sobs and Sheldon's heavy breaths.
It felt warm and healing and heartbreaking and stimulating and confusing all at the same time.
And so, she just lay there in his arms. Afraid of the meaning of it all, just as much as of having to stop hugging him at some point.
Enjoying the closeness and at the same time feeling guilty for enjoying it this much.
She wanted to freeze this moment. She wanted to not care about what came before or what would happen afterwards.
Finally, she felt Sheldon loosen his grip around her.
Still holding onto him, she reluctantly lifted her head from his chest and looked up to him.
His face was still wet with tears, his eyes red and his face pale. But there was something new in his expression now.
He still looked sad. But also, hopeful.
"Are you ready to talk now?", he whispered. "Can we finally talk and… put this behind us already? Because I can't… I cannot stand this any longer."
No, she wasn't ready. She just wanted to hug her boyfriend for a little longer and pretend that everything was okay. That there was nothing left to talk about, because all that mattered was that they loved each other.
But she couldn't. She could not just pretend. They could not ignore what led to this mess. It would only boil up again in the future.
They had to resolve this. Now.
And the way they still were holding each other, it felt a little bit easier.
She cleared her throat and thought for a second.
"I'm sorry for putting us through this, Sheldon.", she said seriously. "I did not mean to hurt you. But as much as I love you… I need you to acknowledge that the past years haven't been exactly easy for me."
"I do.", he nodded. "I know that."
She wasn't sure if she could believe that.
"You disagreed, when I said I've been patient with you.", she pointed out. "You… 'strongly' disagreed."
Maybe it was a low blow, throwing this into his face after he had apologized. But his words… they still stung. Didn't he realize that this was not normal? That most women didn't have to wait years just to be kissed once in a while?
"Because…", he huffed. "Amy, when we first met, the main reason I wanted to get to know you better was because we were on the same page regarding not only romantic relationships but also physical intimacy. You told me, remember? All forms of physical contact are off the table."
Amy smiled weakly. It was hard to believe how she had felt back then.
"I know, but…"
"When we started this relationship, we agreed that nothing would change between us.", he argued.
"Physical or otherwise…", she recounted. "Yes, but Sheldon this was a long time ago. Do you really regret…"
"I do not regret a thing." Sheldon said immediately. "Not a single thing. And while I fought all of them, I've come to appreciate and enjoy the developments in our relationship."
"You did?", she asked softly.
"I do.", he emphasized. "All of them."
"But then, why…"
"You are patient with me, Amy. I know that.", he admitted. "You always give me time to figure things out. You never pressure me. But…", his voice trailed off.
"But?"
"But…", he sighed. "While you never intended to pressure me, I still felt pressure on me. Because I knew you wanted more. The past five years haven't been easy for you. But they haven't been easy for me either. No one ever… has gotten me to come out of my comfort zone as often as you have."
Tears welled up in her eyes again. This was one of the reasons why she had felt she couldn't do this anymore. She did not want to feel like she was pushing Sheldon.
"You are right...", she whispered. "And I am sorry if I made you…"
"You did not make me do anything.", interrupted her. "And I am not sorry. Because in the end, it all only led to good things. You have been patient with me, Amy. I know hardly any man would have made you wait as long as I have. For… everything. I can acknowledge that. But…"
"But you need me to acknowledge that you have been working on yourself a lot for this relationship. And that we've come much farther than you ever thought we would. That for you, the steps we have taken so far have been huge. I do, Sheldon. And I appreciate it very much. You must know that."
He smiled at her.
"Thank you. And I appreciate you too. You, and your incredible patience."
Amy's heart fluttered in her chest.
This was good. They should have had a talk like this a long time ago.
"I'd like to add something to your list.", she said, looking at him seriously.
"List?"
"Your list of things our relationship needs in order to be successful.", she clarified. "What do we need? You made a few excellent points. But one thing you did not list was communication. I failed to communicate with you these past few days. Weeks. Maybe months. And I am sorry for that."
Just like she had somehow stopped seeing all the good things in their relationship, she had also stopped letting him know when she was not happy. Until all her suppressed feelings had erupted on their anniversary night.
So, maybe in a way, this situation was not just on him, but on her too.
"I was wondering about that.", he nodded. "Clearly you haven't been content for a while. Why did you not tell me?"
"Well, part of me was scared of your reaction.", she confessed. "But also… I did not want to pressure you. Because I do know, you give me so much more than you ever wanted to. I was scared of asking for too much. Of scaring you away. But by now, I cannot help but wonder…"
"If this enough for you.", he realized. "If I am still what you need."
It was exactly what she had been thinking these past few days, but it still hurt to hear the words out loud.
She wanted to assure him that this was not true. That he would always be enough. That she would never need anyone but him.
But then, something snapped inside of her. Raj was right. It was time to stop walking on eggshells. It was time to let Sheldon know how she had been feeling. Without being afraid of his reaction.
She had suffered so much these past few days. How much worse could it get?
"I love you, Sheldon.", she exclaimed. "I love you so much. I spend my nights dreaming of you. Conjuring up images of how our life could be. I dream of…"
"Sex.", Sheldon guessed, avoiding her gaze. "This is what it all boils down to, isn't it?"
"No.", she protested. He just didn't get it, did he? "I mean… yes, I would like to be intimate with you one day. I do… desire you and I yearn to act on it and finally let out all the things I feel for you. But this is not why I left the other night. Earlier, you told me, you wanted to move forward. But what does that even mean? Will we really be more than we are now? Ten years from now, will you still be living with Leonard and Penny? Or will you ever… want a life with me? Maybe… get married and start a family? Do you picture us growing old together? Because I can be patient, Sheldon. I can wait for you to be ready. But it has been five years now, and I need to know that we are headed… somewhere."
She had done it. Voiced all the things that had scared him off before. And if he wanted to disappear on her again, well then he could. She was past the point of worrying about it.
He was biting his lips, tears still sparkling in his eyes. It seemed he was battling himself. Of course he was.
Because she had to face the bitter reality.
"You do not want any of this.", she breathed out. "It's okay. At least… at least I know that now and…"
She tried to get up, but Sheldon grasped her arm to hold her back.
"But I do.", Sheldon interrupted her. "I do want these things. All of them."
Amy scoffed.
"Well, considering our history, I find this hard to believe."
"Because I'm scared of it.", Sheldon all but shouted. "I am not supposed to want it, Amy. I am not supposed to want you. And I am not supposed to feel this... desperate and depressed because I had to spend a few days with the fear of losing you."
Desperate and depressed?
"I was content.", he continued. "With dedicating my life to science. But then you came and… oh…", he sighed as more tears gathered in his eyes. "You made me fall in love with you. You made me see things that weren't there before. And thinking about losing all we have… I just cannot… When did this happen? When did you become so important to me? Since when is it impossible to picture my life without you?"
Amy's heart began pounding in her chest. It was wonderful and at the same time terrifying to hear Sheldon speak like this.
"You want to know if I want to move forward with you?", he asked, then got up from the couch. He walked over to his desk and took something out of his drawer.
"Sheldon, what are you…"
Then her eyes widened, when he came back and presented her with a small, blue box.
"What is… this?", she stammered.
Sheldon took a deep breath, seemingly trying to stop his hand from shaking.
"An engagement ring.", Sheldon stated simply.
"You have an engagement ring?", she all but screeched. "But… but… how… when…"
"I've had it for a few weeks.", Sheldon explained. "My mother gave it to me. I have been pondering what to do about it. I was thinking of giving it to you. I was trying to decide on how to best breach the subject, but…"
But then you walked out on us and asked for time.
The words hung in the air.
"You really wanted to talk to me about… getting engaged?", she asked in awe.
She had a hard time processing it. Believing it. And yet it was there. The blue box with a ring in it.
"Yes.", he said. "I was thinking about proposing on our anniversary, but I did not just want to spring it on you. I thought… It would be more suitable for us if we sat down together and discussed this possibility. If we are ready to take this step. And all the steps that come with it. Because yes, we have been together for five years and I realize that certain things are bound to happen. I never liked change, but I was starting to feel like the time was right and that maybe this kind of change could be good for us. But then… you got angry and now I don't even know if you're still interested. If we are still…"
A sob escaped his throat and he looked away from her.
"Oh Sheldon…", she whispered. "I wish I had known how you felt."
"I am sorry.", Sheldon repeated. "I am sorry for not letting you know. For letting you doubt my intentions. I thought they were clear. But I guess you are right about our lack of communication."
"Oh, Sheldon…"
She couldn't stop herself from taking his hand. Despite their earlier hugs, he seemed surprised for a second, but then, he pulled her into his arms again, releasing another sob.
"Please don't leave me, Amy.", he whispered into her hair. "Please. Just don't."
She released a shuddering breath before she rested her head against his chest again.
"Regardless of any big steps we might or might not be taking… things will have to change between us, Sheldon.", she said seriously.
"I figured as much.", he nodded.
She pulled away to look at him.
"Not too much.", she clarified. "But… enough."
"Okay."
She smiled at him brightly.
"Alright then.", she whispered.
"So, you're done evaluating our relationship?", he clarified.
"Yes.", she promised. "I am."
There were still things to discuss and to find compromises on.
But their relationship status was no longer one of those things. Never again.
He squeezed her to his chest, knocking the air from her lungs for a moment.
"Oh, thank God…", he sighed deeply.
Amy moved her hands to his shoulders, pulling away to be able to search his eyes.
"I love you.", she said. "And I am sorry for hurting you."
"I love you too.", he replied seriously. "And I am sorry as well. For everything."
They smiled at each other gently, their eyes glistening with tears.
He gently cupped her face.
"Now that this is settled… can I please kiss you?"
There was a new expression on his face. One she had never seen before.
A soft expression. Full of love and longing.
He wanted to kiss her, not because it was part of their relationship agreement to do so. He genuinely wanted to kiss her because he wanted to. Because he had missed her. Maybe because he had feared he would never get to kiss her again.
Her stomach swooped. Thank God they both did not have to fear that anymore.
She covered his hand on her cheek with her own hand.
"You never have to ask, Sheldon.", she murmured as she leaned in.
And suddenly it was as if she were catapulted back in time to the night of their five-year anniversary.
Sheldon's hand on her leg. Their lips meeting. Soft, warm and gentle. Goosebumps on her arms. Chills running down her spine. Desire building in her soul.
It felt right. Completely right.
Amy felt even more tears stream down her face. At the same time, Sheldon's lips on hers seemed to be trembling.
How could she ever have believed she could live without this? Without him?
How could she ever have assumed that there was even the slightest possibility of ever getting over him and wanting to find someone else?
He was it for her. The man she would love for the rest of her life.
And it did not matter how much work it would take to get there, because what they had was worth everything.
Amy knew Sheldon felt the same way. Not just because of his words or the ring… but most of all because of the way he kissed her.
Gentle and hungry. Passionate and sweet. Loving. Again and again.
For once, he wasn't holding back at all, but instead let her feel exactly how he felt.
Never before had Amy been kissed like that.
Much, much later, they pulled away and blessedly, Sheldon did not mention anything about "The Flash" this time.
Instead, he picked up the blue ring box. His face turned serious as he looked at the small item in his hand and then at her again.
"Sheldon…"; she whispered, her heart going a mile a minute.
Would he…
"I'm not… giving you this ring tonight.", he told her.
"That's okay.", she said quickly, although she had to admit she was a tiny bit disappointed. "I wasn't expecting…"
"I am glad you know about my intentions now.", he explained. "But for now, I will be putting it into my safe. Because I realize now that we have work to do. And that, while we will be taking steps forward, for now, this is not the right one."
She smiled at him.
While she would love to be engaged to Sheldon Cooper, she loved that he did not just propose spontaneously, because of their emotional reunion.
And she knew that, when the time came for them to take this step, it would be even more meaningful.
"Okay.", she whispered.
"But moving forward, I want you to know that this is where we are headed.", he promised. "And that we will be everything you want us to be. Once we are ready."
"Okay.", she repeated and grinned as she watched her boyfriend get up and put away the ring box.
She was already looking forward to seeing it again someday soon.
She sighed contently as she leaned back.
This was so nice. All the hurt and the pain from the past two days was slowly leaving her body, and she couldn't help but yawn loudly.
"You're tired.", he stated, watching her closely.
"Mhmm…", she admitted.
"So am I.", he admitted. "It's still early but I guess we both didn't really sleep much since…"
She swallowed. Yes, Sheldon was right.
And the only sensible thing to do right now was part ways and go get some sleep.
"I guess, I should go now.", she said regretfully. "Maybe… if you want… we can spend some time together tomorrow."
"We certainly could.", Sheldon replied hesitantly. "Although…"
He sat back down next to her and took both her hands into his again.
And even though Amy didn't want to get her hopes up, at that moment, she knew what he would be asking her next.
"Amy, by any chance, do you still have one of your overnight bags hidden here somewhere?"
Sheldon
As Sheldon did his nighttime routine, he thought about his overnight guest.
It had felt so easy to ask her to stay. And even if it hadn't… even if he had struggled with it… Amy's face alone would have been worth everything.
The way her eyes had lit up. Her surprised giggle.
It had warmed his heart.
And it had made him wonder… why had he never asked her before?
Their first sleepover in their fort had been a success. He had enjoyed having her in the apartment in the early morning. It had been nice to have breakfast with her and then drive to work together.
Then why had he never thought of including this new development in their Relationship Agreement?
Well, for starters, it was an unusual occasion. They had slept in a fort in the living room. He couldn't exactly put that in the Relationship Agreement. Leonard would have thrown one of his hissy fits if he had to give up his bed sheets once a month.
Also, Amy hadn't mentioned it since, so he guessed it wasn't that important to her.
Of course, by now, he knew the truth. She hadn't mentioned it, because she had not wanted to put pressure on him. Or scare him away.
They had to work this out. Before they could even think of getting engaged or married or… he swallowed dryly… well, before anything else.
Which made him wonder… what were Amy's expectations for this night?
This second sleepover. First one in his bed?
She had told him she wanted to be intimate with him one day.
But after their intense kisses before… did she assume that one day was today?
He had to admit that part of him wasn't opposed to… exploring things. To… how had she put it? To finally let out all the things they felt for each other.
Sheldon would be lying if he said it wasn't tempting. Coming so close to losing her only made everything he felt for her even more intense. He yearned to lose himself in her and be as close to her as humanly possible.
At the same time, he felt that this day had already been so overwhelming. He didn't know if he could take any more.
But he did not want to disappoint Amy either, especially not tonight.
So maybe, they could explore a little bit at least.
And so, as Sheldon turned off the lights in his apartment and then made his way to his room, he tried to prepare himself for every possible scenario.
But when he opened the door and tentatively looked for his girlfriend, he realized that he had been worried for no reason.
There she was, lying in his bed. On her side, facing the middle of the bed.
She wasn't posing for him naked or in skimpy lingerie, the way it sometimes happened in silly movies.
She wasn't giving him a come-hither look and she wasn't playing soul-music.
She just lay there on her side, wearing her sensible, long night gown. The blanket pulled up to her waist. With half-lidded eyes, indicating that she was probably as tired as he was.
And the one thing Sheldon had not prepared himself for was the way he felt about seeing her like this.
Mostly relieved. Not because she wasn't trying to seduce him, but because she was with him. Where he could make sure she would not be reconsidering her decision to stay.
But he also felt… excited. And happy. And hopeful for a brighter future that included many, many sleepovers.
He closed the door behind himself and crawled into bed quickly, before he could really think about it.
Under different circumstances, he would have wondered how to proceed.
But after the past taxing days, he was just beyond caring about any implications or consequences or expectations.
He turned to Amy, and pulled her into his arms tightly.
"Oh…", she said surprised, but she caught herself quickly and cuddled into his arms. "This is… nice."
"Good.", he said hoarsely.
Tears sprang to his face again. It was nice. More than nice. And if today had turned out any differently, then he would have never found out how good it felt to have her in his arms like this.
"Amy?", he whispered into her hair.
"Yes?", she whispered back.
"I think we should do this more often."
"I agree."
"I love you."
He did not know why he felt the urge to say it. He had told her already. She knew. But he still had to say it.
She lifted her head and kissed his cheek. Very softly.
"I love you too, Sheldon."
"Don't leave me, Amy.", he begged. "Don't ever think about breaking up with me again. Please. I can't…"
"I won't.", she promised. "I…"
He silenced her with a kiss. He did not have to hear another explanation or apology from her.
They would talk about this. Thoroughly. But not tonight.
He moved his hand to her back, pulling her body close as his lips descended on hers again, surprising himself with his urge to kiss her again.
It was so different like this. In bed together, wearing their pajamas. Sharing a blanket. The room only dimly lit.
It was harder for him to focus on anything else but her. Which was okay because did not want to focus on anything else.
"Amy…", he moaned, before he deepened the kiss, letting his tongue run over her lips. They had not often tried this before and those two times when Amy had initiated it, he had not been sure what to think about it, but tonight… oh, tonight he craved her so much, he had no other choice than devour her.
He lost all trace of time. Their mouths moved together urgently. Amy's breathy moans filled the air.
And he… he felt intoxicated. Dizzy. His earlier doubts and fears almost forgotten.
His hands wandered over her nightgown, feeling her soft curves. And suddenly, he understood all the fuss. He understood why people wanted to share their bed with those they loved. Why people spent so much time obsessing about kissing and touching and… everything else that happened in the bedroom.
Amy wasn't shy either. She kissed him, with an intensity he hadn't known before. Her tongue moving with his slowly, yet passionately. Her hands on his chest, driving him crazy with the way her fingers clawed at him.
He had always known that she wanted him, and he had at times considered giving her what she wanted. But he had never considered that maybe he wanted her as much as she wanted him.
There was no denying how aroused they both were by each other, and Sheldon loved every minute of it.
"We should stop while we still can.", Amy whispered between kisses.
"I know.", he agreed, but then moved his mouth to her neck, nibbling at her sensitive skin there. "But I can't help it."
"Oh…", she groaned as he sucked her skin into his mouth, determined to leave his mark on her.
He absolutely did not want to stop any of this. Not the kissing or hearing her reactions or… the intense things he was feeling.
It felt similar to when he was standing in front of his whiteboard, already feeling a big impending breakthrough. Only not with his brain. But with his whole body.
"Sheldon…", she moaned. "Oh God… Oh, heavens… We need to… we have to…"
Yes, she was right. He knew that. Although they both did not want to stop, they had to. They had not slept in two days. Only hours ago, they were almost breaking up. And they were already taking such a huge step tonight.
He sighed deeply. As much as his body craved her, he knew it would be wrong.
Which was exactly why he had been nervous to enter his bedroom in the first place. Although he would have never expected that he would be the one with no self-control.
He turned on his back, pulling her into his arms again. "You're right.", he sighed. "Going further would be a bad idea."
"But I want you to know, I really enjoyed seeing you so… motivated.", she murmured into his chest.
Well, I think…", he hesitated. Maybe he should not say it. Maybe it was dangerous to admit it. But… maybe it was time to let her know. "I think… I might be ready to… move forward in this regard as well. Not tonight. But soon."
She grinned.
"Really?"
He couldn't resist the urge to move his hand to her round buttocks and squeeze her softly, making her yelp in surprise.
"I believe…", he whispered. "That we might be moving on from strictly G-rated sleepovers soon. Unless you object?"
"Nope.", she said quickly. "No objections. Just enthusiastic approval."
"Noted.", he said, kissing her lips sweetly once more. "This is exciting. I cannot wait to work on all the new sections of our Relationship Agreement together."
She giggled, then kissed him once more before snuggling into his arms.
"Me too.", she said softly.
Sleep overtook them both quickly then.
On the next morning, Sheldon Cooper would discover that the only thing that felt better than falling asleep with Amy in his arms was waking up with her.
With that knowledge as well as their almost break-up still fresh on their minds, Sheldon and Amy started rebuilding their relationship.
Equipped with as much love and commitment as before, but also with a dedication to put each other first. To communicate. To learn from their mistakes.
And soon, very soon, as their bond grew stronger and their love deeper, these two painful days turned into nothing more than a cautionary tale.
