The spider used its powers to change the environment to what appeared to be a large island in an endless sea. It's in the form of a large hill covered in trees with small mountain tops on the four edges of the island. Terry looks up and the Spider appears.
Spider: This next challenge will not require your saber. It will be a tests of senses and hand-to-hand combat. Your first is that you must navigate through the forest and reach the top of the island where the second test will be.
Terry: It looks so small.
Spider: Ah, it may be small, but it's bigger on the inside.
Terry: An illusion. One that masks an environment to make it bigger underneath it.
Spider: Correct. Inside the forest, you will encounter traps of many kinds all the way to the top. It will be your test of sense. You must feel the traps before they go off and not get hit. Also, there will be two safe points where you can rest up for a few minutes. Once those minutes are up, the safe point will be extinguished and you'll be attacked, so use them wisely. At the top is a platform where you will learn special hand-to-hand techniques. Sometimes, you can't rely on the Force and your saber in every battle. After you make it through the forest, I will restore your strength and heal whatever injuries you have.
Terry: I understand. One last thing. Who will teach me those techniques?
Spider: I will. I have a few surprises of my own. I shall await you at the top.
With that, the Spider vanishes. Terry looks at the forest, gives a few hard breaths and runs in. As he enters, Terry immediately feels the power of the illusion. The tree's are much larger, the ground is covered in thorns and spikes, the bushes covered in poison fumes, the branches filled with numerous creatures that will attack the moment their territory is intruded.
Terry knows that this test is far more challenging than the last, but knowing that the only way he can make it back is by passing these tests, he has to succeed. He begins his trek, and as soon as he starts the forest begins to attack him. After just a few steps, his senses alert him to danger on the ground. A large ball of roots opens up and tries to eat him, but Terry manages to dodge in a split second. He jumps onto a tree and a spike quickly protrudes from where Terry lands on the branch. Terry quickly lets go and grabs onto the spike and swings off it and uses his webs to swing through the forest. After just a few swings, the tree creatures begin to swarm him and be barely manages to dodge them, though their beaks manage to slightly scratch him, a throbbing pain makes Terry realize that they have poison. Despite the pain, Terry presses on. After about twenty minutes, he manages to find the first safe point. The moment he enters, he can feel the pain subside. As the few minutes deadline hits, Terry feels fully healed and continues his trek to the top of the forest.
The forest started to get darker as tougher as Terry proceeded. The branches were thicker, the leaves were bigger and starting to block the light, and the space was starting to close in. With still enough light, Terry could still continue with just his eyes. After about 5 minutes into the second trek, the creatures started to appear bigger than earlier. Their claws and pincers were bigger and uglier, they were quicker, and they had tails that could spray a large glob of venom. As one blob came at him and he dodged it, Terry could feel the blob emit a strong heat that could melt the skin to the bone in an instant. Knowing that his webs won't be able to handle the heat, Terry relied on his senses throughout the entire second trek. As he swings, more blobs come at him from both sides and Terry dodges each one with swift agility. He starts to jump from the trees to the next and he starts to grab the tails of the creatures and lifts them to protect him from the venom blobs and throws them at the other creatures. As he continues to proceed, the creatures start to jump at him seconds apart. Terry shoots webs, getting them in the faces, jumps over them and uses them as a whiplash on the other creatures. They start to come quicker than normal and Terry slowly starts to get overwhelmed as they start to graze him all over. With great determination, Terry is able to shake them off and makes it to the second rest point. Greatly exhausted aside from his many graze wounds, Terry stayed inside the point and made sure that not point piece of him was outside the aura. By the time the time limit expired, Terry was fully recovered and he set out to finish the trek.
At last, after trekking through non-stop obstacles for what seemed like a whole month, Terry reached a clearing where he could see the end of the forest. But before he could make it, a loud raspy roar echoed throughout the clearing. Terry scanned the whole area and noticed nothing.
WHACK!
A hard force hit Terry from behind knocking him to the center of the clearing. The impact had a razor feeling like three slashes with a red hot knife. As he gets up, Terry looks behind and to his horror, a great black giant spider stands in front of him. It gives the roar he heard before and it vanishes. Terry realizes that this spider has the same abilities he has and it can hide from his senses and it wasn't going to let Terry escape. With eight invisible legs that can give a sharp pain at impact, horribly terrifying pincers, and quick speed despite one so big, Terry knows he has to find a way to beat this spider or he's finished. He knows that the spider becomes visible for a few seconds after striking him so he has to get hit to get an edge. The next hit he gets hits him in the chest and the spider reappears. He shoots a web into it's eyes, stunning it. He webs a large rock into it's eyes, causing it to bleed. He uses the opportunity to jump on to it's back and gives a bio shock. The spider roars in pain and shakes violently. Terry tries to hang on but is forced off and he lands next to a large tree. The spider turns invisible again, but the blood trail it leaves allows Terry to anticipate it's path. The spider charges at Terry and he jumps, but not quick enough to get a large gash on his chest from the fangs. The spider hits the tree and it's head is crushed. Terry, clutching his bleeding chest, ran across the clearing and out of the forest. As he exited, he felt the pain subsiding and saw that his wounds had all healed and his energy was back just as the spider promised.
Terry looks and see's that he has arrived at the top of the island. In front of him is a large training ring in the form of an ancient dojo. He steps onto the marble ring and the spider appears in front of him.
Spider: You have survived the forest and made use of your senses most perfectly.
Terry: Thank you. With each area after the next it got much harder and dangerous.
Spider: Yes. Only those worthy of my powers can succeed and you have proven yourself worthy. With that, I give you this.
The spider summons an orb of energy that glows blue like the waters of Kamino. The orb drifts to Terry who holds out his hand, clutches the orb and it sinks into his body. Terry feels and overwhelming energy surge through him and it gives a pain that is worse than the gash from the spider only he feels it through his whole body. After a minute of excruciating pain, it subsides and Terry stands with a glowing aura for a few seconds and it vanishes.
Spider: This energy will give you more powerful senses. It will allow you to see through walls, able to see invisible foes, dodge with precise precision and allow you to see in the dark. I trust to use these powers wisely.
Terry: I will.
Spider: Good. On to the next test. Here, you will learn that a very special form of martial arts that no one knows. It is what I call 'The Seven Steps to the Sun."
Terry: You said you will teach me it. How?
The spider transforms into a human form with a master's apparel, but the mouth has fangs and the head has eight eyes.
Spider: I can turn into others as well.
Terry: Well, that's saying much. So, what is it about this technique?
Spider: The main purpose is that it attacks the 7 chakra points of the body you strike. With each strike, you channel your strength into one punch and strike a chakra point with each strike. The body has seven chakra's and when one is damaged, like at the arm, the area the point controls will be rendered stunned for some time. With each strike on every point, eventually it will kill the target.
Terry: Why must I learn this?
Spider: For sometimes, you can't rely on the Force to save you. Without the use of your arms, you can't use the Force.
Terry realizes how useful it would be in case there are moments that won't help him.
Terry: I understand.
The spider conjures a log 2 feet wide and 4 feet long. He stands in front of it and channels his strength into his fist in a ninjutsu style. Then he charges and strikes the log, shattering it. Terry can only stand and slightly open his mouth in amazement to what he just witnessed.
Spider: You will feel the strength build up in your fist and when you feel it burn, that is when you will be able to strike. This lesson will help you keep your strength strong until you are able to strike all seven chakra points before you release it.
The spider splits the ring in 7 different sections and summons six figures of it's human self who place themselves in each section with the spider itself in the final section. Terry steps into the first section. The first replica conjures up another log and prepares to launch it at Terry. Terry calms himself and focuses his energy into his hand. He gives a nod to signal he's ready and the figure throws the log at hit. Terry strikes the log and shatters it in half and the halves spread apart and don't hit him.
Figure: Impressive. Now you must strike the chakra point in me to fully test it.
A red glow on the figure signals the first chakra point in the chest. Terry channels his strength again and strikes the figure at the red glow. The impact causes a gush of wind through the back and the figure collapses and disappears. The spider watches from above.
Spider: Excellent. The first strike will stun your target for a few seconds. You must then proceed to strike the remaining chakra points before the target will recover. Each strike is part of a pattern that will culminate in the final strike that will finish the target.
Terry nods and proceeds to the next. The second figure glows at the chest first then at the socket of the right arm. It takes a few tries, but Terry is able to keep his energy channeled long enough. The third figure glows at the cavity of the upper left chest, the fourth glows where the right leg and knee connect, the fifth at left arm socket, the sixth at where the left leg and knee connect. Finally, after what seemed like an hour of training, Terry makes it to the final section of the ring where the spider itself awaits.
Spider: Most impressive. Now it is time for you to learn the seventh step. But before that, I must warn you about the seventh.
Terry nods and stands in silence as the spider reveals his deepest intentions about the final step.
Spider: The seventh step requires you to use all the energy you kept focused will be released in one catalyst of released energy. The final strike will hit here at the skull. Once you strike, you must release all your energy into the target's skull once you make contact. As it rushes through the skull, the victim's skull and brain will be crushed by the magnitude of the released energy. To ensure you never miss, wait for the target to collapse onto their knees.
Terry and the Spider then square off. The spider is certainly much quicker than Terry. Despite his training, Terry is pretty much on the defensive and not able to strike a good blow. The spider strikes at him with different blows of the the Steps. Each strike feels like a large sledgehammer.
Spider: There will be enemies that will be much faster than you. You must use your wits and senses to find a way around the problem and take it down from another angle.
Terry understood immediately. Managing to stand in front of a large pillar in the middle of the ring, Terry lets the Spider strike him, causing him to get blown into the pillar. The impact shatters the pillar and covers the spot in dust. The spider comes to check and when the dust clears, Terry is gone. The spider's senses cause it to turn around and Terry charges and strikes the Spider's chest with the first Step. With the Spider dazed, Terry unleashes the remaining Steps on the Spider. As the Spider falls on it's knees, Terry channels the final energy into his hand and strikes the Spider's skull. On impact, he feels the energy dissipate and the Spider feels the rush of concentrated energy rush through it's head and it falls down lying still. The Spider disappears and reappears above the ring in it's normal form.
Spider: Well done. You have mastered the Seven Steps to the Sun as I knew you would. A total of 9 hours have now passed. You have one last test to complete before I return you to your body. Do you understand?
Terry: Yes.
Spider: Good.
The Spider changes the environment one final time. It was now what looked like a castle with numerous towers.
Spider: For this test, more than one will monitor your final training.
Terry: Why not just you?
Spider: It is appropriate that this person watches his Padawan train once again.
Terry: What do you mean?
Then, footsteps are heard. Terry slowly turns in the direction of the steps and to his shock, sees a familiar face.
Person: Hello, Terry.
Terry: Master Kestrel? How...?
