"Good Afternoon Sergeant Platt. Is Ruzek here?" Kim asked as she arrived at the district. "Yup he's up there. I assume he's running late for something based on your facial expression?" Platt asked like she cared. "Yup! Can you buzz me up?" Kim asked slightly frustrated with Adam. "Of course. Give him hell girl!" Platt laughed as she buzzed Kim into the bullpen. They all turned to see who was entering the bullpen. "Fuck! I'm so sorry! I lost track of time! Let me finish this quick and then we can go! I'm so sorry!" Adam saw her face and knew she was beyond pissed. "It's fine. I just don't want to miss the opening ceremonies and if you don't hurry up we will miss it." Her face was stern but forgiving. "Really I am sorry! I promise 5 more minutes then I'm good to go." Adam hurried to finish his paperwork. Kim pulled up a chair while she waited. Pulling out her phone checking her email.
She could see the team working hard around her but she just wanted to get on with their plans for the day. As he finished his work he saw she was still annoyed but knew he could fix it easily. "Okay let's go! Oh and I heard from the dealership, your new car will be here Saturday. I know you have a double but I will pick it up and have it waiting at home for you. That way you can use it Sunday for your appointment and our date day. I figure you are driving since you won't tell me where we are going." He saw her smiling again. "Thank you for doing that. I do appreciate it especially since my car was totaled already and I'm driving Jims car since he can't. So let's get this show on the road!" Kim knew they had to leave soon. "Perfect! I'm excited for today! And can't wait to see what kind of rants you go on today!" He laughed knowing she's crazy while watching a baseball game. "Oh yeah it should be good. Though I'm not really invested as much since it's not my team. But should still be fun." Kim smiled grabbing his hand as they walked.
"Well no matter what team you like it's going to be fun." He smiled helping her into the car so they could drive together. "So let me tell you a funny opening day story. So a good group of friends arrived super early to tailgate. We had pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, the whole nine on the flat top grill. Anyway with getting there so early we were able to park near a porta potty. So we brought an out of order sign and posted it on the potty so it stayed clean for only us to use. Anyway after several hours we got busted by security but it was fun as hell." She laughed seeing Adam laughing at their high jinx's. "Any bad times?" He asked. "Um one year my friend Jen got us the tickets. She is cheap so the tickets were in the 400 section. So it was super high and windy. But anyway I went into the bathroom and saw a girl passed out on the toilet, vomit all over the floor in front of her. Needless to say I had to call 911. And I never sat up there again." Kim shrugged. "Yeah that would kill the buzz. Hopefully we don't see anything like that today." Adam shook his head thinking of her story. "I never sit outside the club level anymore. It's snobby I know but it has heat and AC, nicer bathrooms and way less drunks because the tickets cost more. So to me it's worth it." She knew it sounded bad but it was worth it in her mind. "I agree with you. Heat and AC is worth it for sure. Especially with the cold Chicago weather. Good call." Adam knew it was sensible even if it sounded snobbish.
"So what do you normally eat at a game? I can't see you eating a hotdog." He asked wonder how she managed to eat in a ballpark. "Well sometimes I will splurge on a chicken cheesesteak. But normally I just get a crab cake sandwich at CBP. Here I will probably end up with a salad or a grilled chicken sandwich if I can find it. It's hard to eat healthy that's for sure. But it doesn't stop me from trying." Kim smiled staying upbeat about it. "Well we will try to find you something healthy to eat. But either way you have to eat. There's bound to be something you can eat that won't hurt you." He looked at her knowingly. "I will eat I promise. I've gotten much better about it. And I won't disappoint you, I promise." Kim reached over to squeeze hand.
"You don't disappoint me. You never have. I was scared for you. But know I am damn proud of you for how far you have come and how well you are doing now. I'm no longer scared for you. You should be proud!" He needed to make sure she understood just how proud he was. She had listened to him and had taken his advice to heart. Then taken the step to work with Antonio to create a better diet plan that actually worked better for her and made her stronger. "I am proud. But more importantly I feel stronger, I feel better. And that's because you helped me see that I was hurting myself with that antiquated diet plan. I truly appreciate that. I'm literally stronger because of you, physically stronger because of you. You are amazing!" Kim leaned over to kiss his cheek. "You are amazing too darling! You saved yourself more times than either of us can count. And i didn't do much, just pointed you in the right direction. So how about we focus on the fun times today and leave the heavy conversation for later." He watched her smile before looking out the window again.
They arrived at the ballpark smiling wide, giddy with excitement for the events ahead. This was the first game they were going to together, the first of many but the excitement was bursting out of them. Before heading to their seats they walked the concourse looking at all the food options. Both surprised to find a stand that offered healthier options. Kim got a grilled chicken wrap with fruit before they headed off to find something for Adam to eat. He didn't care what it was he just wanted something to eat. He found something more traditional and they headed for the seats. Kim wanted to enjoy all the fan fare secretly comparing this to other opening days she's been to. But still excited nonetheless. "So besides this being colder how does this measure up to other openings days?" He was curious what other cities did for opening days. "Well so far there hasn't been much to compare. In Philly it starts with a parade of the players coming onto the field from outside the stadium, crossing the concourse then down stairs in to the outfield. Always a huge flag on the field held up by first responders. Um people parachuting onto the field, fireworks. It's always crazy that's for sure. But a good time." She watched the field seeing the players stretching and getting prepped. "Sounds fun." He admitted. "Yeah just a whole different level there. The fans are legit nuts. And that is what makes it so much fun. The crowd hypes the players and they hype us back. It's pretty great." Kim thought for a moment before speaking again.
"Maybe after Paris we stop in Philly first. Come to a game, we can see Keith and Nicole. I would love for you to see my other world for a bit. And it will be late but we can celebrate my birthday. Really my first one in years I care about." She looked up knowing she confessed something incredibly sad. "I think that's a great idea. And when exactly were you going to tell me about your birthday? I mean it needs to be celebrated big time wifey!" He laughed knowing she was going to an all out party now. "No one cared before so I just ignored it but this year I have you. This year I want to acknowledge it. Feels right this year." She saw him planning it in his mind already. "So what's the exact date? And you are right it's going to be epic!" He laughed seeing her blush a little. "May 3rd." She smiled softly knowing he would make her see the value in her birthday. "Well when we get back from Paris your birthday will be celebrated fully. You will never miss another birthday, ever!" He hugged her best he could given the seats.
Kim got to work changing their flights and ordering tickets for a game in Philly. That was harder since they had been to the World Series the year before. Tickets for every game on the weekends were sold out. That meant ordering from a third party site and paying more but Kim didn't care. She just wanted to give them another great experience together. The type she never got as a child. As the game started Kim returned her attention to the game and being present with Adam. It was a good crowd and the energy was good. Adams excitement was boiling over as his team took the field. Cheering loudly, standing clapping for his team. Kim loved seeing him so excited. She even took a photo of his face alive with happiness. Once he sat again his arm went around Kim's shoulders while she rested her head on his. They were both very into the game yelling at bad calls and absolutely not afraid to boo the other team. They were truly enjoying the time together where neither had to worry about work or people taking photos of them together.
As the game came to an end the couple cheered as Adams favorite team won the game. "Thank you so much darling! This was such a great experience. Though I missed your epic rants." He hugged her tightly as they waited for others to leave. "Oh that's reserved solely for my team but I promise I won't hold back in Philly." They headed up the stairs to leave their section and start the trek home. It wasn't too late in the day so the couple headed out to dinner together just enjoying their the night. They both agreed they needed to do opening day again. But Adam agreed to go to Philly to see her team next year. They were happy about the compromise. They were excited for the date day coming up.
It was Sunday, date day but also Kim's bridal appointment. Kim awoke early getting out of bed and heading to the shower. She wanted Adam to sleep. He had a rough couple of days at work so sleep was important. After her shower she got dressed and headed out. She left a note for Adam letting him know where she was just in case he had forgotten. As she headed to the appointment her nerves were on fire. This was such an important day for the couple. It was the center piece of their wedding and it had to be perfect. She arrived noticing Kaitlyn was already there having the associates sign non disclosure agreements just in case. It was a high end store but you can never let your guard down fully. "Hey good morning. Are you ready for today?" Kaitlyn asked seeing her friend nervous. "Yeah I am. I can't wait to get started." They walked further into the store being led to the private bridal area. "Good morning ladies! Are we ready to get started?" The associate asked. "Absolutely. I kind of already know what I want. So I think it's just about getting the measurements down." Kim stated as she placed her things down.
"Okay so from my notes. You are getting married first weekend in November. And that you are specifically looking to use the sheer rose lace for the dress. Did you know which look you were going for?" The associate asked taking notes as they spoke. "I actually am absolutely in love with look 14. I think it's perfect for me and the location which is the conservatory. I'm also thinking I want the bodice to be sheer but the skirt lined. I think that's the best statement I can make at my wedding." Kim watched as the associate seemed surprised. "I know I did a lot of research before the appointment was made. And I know what I like and make sure I get it. So let's get started." Kim got ready for the measurements to be taken. "Alright well I love a client who knows what they want. Makes it easier. Alright let's take your measurements and get your deposit taken." The associate started taking all the measurements needed for the dress to be made. While it wasn't full custom it was designer and made per client. It truly made Kim feel beautiful which is what every bride needs and wants.
After all the measurements were taken Kim got dressed again before going over all the final details. It was tedious but needed to be done to ensure perfection. Once completed she paid the deposit and left stopping to grab some breakfast for her and Adam on the way home. She arrived at home seeing Adam was just getting up for the day. "Hey darling! How was the appointment?" He asked seeing her walking into their home. "It went well. All the details ironed out, deposit paid. Now I wait. I brought breakfast home for us." Kim showed him the bag knowing he would be hungry. "Perfect! I'm starving!" He entered the kitchen grabbing a box of food before sitting down to eat. "So do I get any details about today or are you going to make me wait?" He asked trying to gauge the situation. "Oh no! You are waiting! No way I'm telling you. I want to full surprise face when you see it!" Kim laughed digging in to her own meal. "Well I guess I will just have to suffer!" He smirked. "Oh yeah tough cross to bear dear!" She laughed more seeing him frown.
"Alright frowny face! Eat up and get ready! We have plans!" Kim cleaned up her dishes and headed to the bedroom to get dressed. She wore more casual clothes for the fitting but wanted to look nicer for their date day. She still wanted to be comfortable since there were activities involved. But she was excited nonetheless. Adam followed shortly after getting into the shower. He was quick knowing they had at least three stops before dinner with the team to celebrate Mouse's birthday. "So from your outfit casual is okay?" He asked wanting to double check. "Yup! We can change again before dinner hopefully." Kim smiled as she finished getting ready. "Alright give me a few minutes and then we can go." He was dressed rather quickly before grabbing the keys to her new car. He handed them over knowing he had no clue where they were headed. Kim laughed the whole way as he tried to guess where they were headed.
It took 30 minutes before they arrived at their destination. "Corks and Candles?" Adam asked with a confused tone. "So it's something I have wanted to try for a while now. It's a candle making activity with cocktails. Feels like a win, win in my book!" Kim giggled getting out if the car. "Well alright let's do this! Sounds fun!" He wasn't sure it would be fun but he was willing it give it a go for her. They entered the building looking around seeing all the stations set up and all the supplies on the wall. "Good afternoon! Welcome! Have you been here before?" The women asked. "Nope! But I'm excited to get started." Kim looked giddy and really that was all Adam cared about. "Alright. So to start let me get you both a cocktail while you pick out your container, color and scent. Feel free to open the scents to check them out first. Now what can I get you to drink?" She asked. "Just a wine please, something lite. It's too early for heavy drinking." Adam nodded in agreement asking for the same. He wasn't a fan but it was too early for bourbon.
They browsed all the different sized containers before choosing the ones they liked. The headed to the scent area. Sniffing several each before Kim found the perfect one. "Adam smell this one." She placed it right under his nose watching as he realized what it smelled like. "That's fruity pebbles! So good you have to get that!" He knew that was one of her favorite candles to get. "Of course. What are you getting?" She asked seeing him with one in his hand. "Smells like burning wood. I like it." He let her smell before moving towards the color. That was easy. She choose red, he choose black. The employee had already returned with their drinks and showed them to the stations they would be using. They got to work right away melting the wax to the proper temperature before cooling it some to add the color and scent. It was fun for sure and they got to enjoy their drinks while they waited for it to cool.
The couple took several silly photos while they waited. They also loved that no one was taking pictures of them. They were just normal people there. After the candles were dry they moved onto the next location which was a lunch spot that Kim thought was perfect. Kim drove them there once again not giving away the location. As they arrived Adam once again was confused. "Since we are heading to Paris next month I thought we could enjoy some French cuisine for lunch." Kim smiled knowing he wouldn't have thought of that. "I love it! Perfect idea darling!" They headed in excited to try something new. While Kim had been to France it had been awhile so this was a treat. "So are you enjoying date day so far?" Kim asked as they sat and waited for their drinks. "Yeah this has been a great day so far. Excited to see what the next stop is. But so far this has been a great day. I love you so much!" He loved how she always tried to give them new experiences. "I love you too! I'm so happy we are doing this." She smiled wide while holding his hand.
They ordered lunch enjoying small talk as they waited. It was easy and light. Filled with lots of soft touches, smirks and giggles. After the food arrived the couple picked off each other's plates. They enjoyed all the different flavors knowing they would enjoy Paris for sure. After they finished eating they headed to the last location. "So since you suffered through candle making the last stop is specifically for you!" Kim smiled as she started to drive to the next location. "Honestly it was fun. Might be more because you were so excited but it was fun. But I can say I'm excited to see what this next stop is." He watched her smile wide loving this little game. As they pulled up Adams jaw dropped. "Really? I always wanted to do this! Thank you for doing this!" He jumped out of the car running to her side to hug her tight. "I'm happy seeing you this excited! This is exactly what I wanted to see!" Kim smiled loving this. "Let's head in!" Kim pulled him inside.
They were quickly assigned a booth where they took turns trying to out do the other one. They of course made a competition out of it. They both loved challenges and could never back down from one. "You know this is hot! Watching you throwing an axe! Getting me all hot and bothered." He hugged her from behind holding her tight. "Well it's a rush that's for sure. We should do this again." Kim smiled bucking her hips back against his causing him to moan. "Trying to challenge me? Okay! Game on!" Adam chuckled loudly. He rolled up his sleeves allowing her to see the muscles bulging as he threw the axe. As he hit the center he turned to give her his best lopsided smile. Running his fingers over her body lightly as he passed by. Kim smirked before dropping something. She bended over shaking her booty as she picked it up. She threw the axe not hitting the center but still hit the board. She turned back biting her lip knowing he loved it.
The two kept teasing, playing with the other. Testing the limits of just how much the other could take. It was crazy hot and slightly painful but they enjoyed the it. The couple lasted roughly two hours before they needed to head home. They had dinner plans with friends and really they needed a quickie. Both pushed to the limits and needed the release before they headed to dinner. Kim drove them home as fast as she could without breaking the law. They were barely in the apartment before Adam was picking her up and carrying her to the bedroom. He placed her down long enough to push her jeans down as well as his jeans and boxers before pushing her against the wall. He gave her a second to change her mind before thrusting hard and fast. Neither lasted very long but it was very enjoyable for the couple.
As they both came down from their highs Adam placed her down. He helped clean up before they changed for dinner. They knew it was still a casual restaurant but they wanted to look nice as it was a birthday dinner. "What should I wear?" He asked. "Um maybe the outfit you liked from fashion week. It's nice but not over the top. Still casual. You said you would wear it again." Kim shrugged. "That's a good idea. Alright let's get dressed and head out again." He knew they needed to be early so he was trying to be fast. Kim threw on a casual dress and some ballet flats before heading out again. They arrived at the restaurant before the guest of honor. The rest of group was already there enjoying drinks while they waited. "Hey guys!" Adam got their attention. They all exchanged hugs before taking their seats again. "How was date day?" Erin asked curious about the day.
"It was great. We did a candle making activity that was actually fun. Then lunch at a French bistro in preparation for Paris. Then off to axe throwing. It was a great day! So much fun!" Adam stated letting them know about the day. "Sounds great! I wanted to try that candle making thing. Didn't think Jay would like it though." Erin responded. "It really wasn't bad. Maybe it was her excitement about it but it was fun. And we got to drink doing it so I'm good with it." Adam smiled side hugging Kim. The group didn't have to wait long till the birthday boy arrived with Jay. Mouse was beyond surprised to see everyone there to celebrate him. He made the rounds thanking everyone for coming out that night. They settled around the table sharing stories of the past. Most involved something crazy Mouse had done.
The whole night filled with laughter and tears from laughing so hard. Several hours later the group exited the restaurant. None of them had seen the photos taken during dinner but caught sight of the paps before leaving the restaurant. "Hold up! You are not going out there. We will find another way out. We will protect you." Adam headed to find the manager. The rest took care to protect Kim was the cameras. "We need a back exit here. My girl is not going through all those vultures trying to get her photo. Where's the back exit?" He was not being friendly about it at all. "Okay we will help out. Bring your party this way." They all headed to the back except Kevin who pushed through to get Kim's new car. Once the car got to the back entrance Kim and Adam laid down in the back while Kevin drove the car out of the area. They all met up Mollys after the craziness subsided.
"That was insane! Does that happen often?" Mouse asked. "No. Not often. But I hate dealing with it." Kim sighed heavily. "Normally only happens when someone sells you at." Adam stated. "True. But it's not about me. Let's continue having fun!" Kim wanted to focus off her. She hated it especially when it's her personal time. The laughter and drinks continued as they enjoyed more down time with friends. Thankfully no one was drunk but they definitely all had one too many. Expect for Kim. She decided to be sober to drive them hime later in the night. Adam deserved to let loose every now and then. They all did. After Mouse left in a cab for the night the group settled their tabs and headed home. As Kim helped Adam to the car she knew he would be out before they got home. She was okay with that.
"Baby. Time it go in the house." He woke slightly so they could head in the house. "Sorry darling! I'm a little drunk!" He admitted. "I know baby! It's all good. Let's just get you into bed." Kim just smiled helping him into the bed. After getting him striped down and under the covers Kim headed to the bathroom wash off her makeup and get ready for bed. When she returned she found him sound asleep snoring softly. She smiled before joining him, snuggling in his safe arms. As she drifted to sleep she reflected on the events of the day. All of the fun with Adam and his team completely over shadowed the small incident with the paps. She could only hope it didn't cause too many issues for Adam. Though fashion week didn't seem to bother his career too much but she always feared his career would be over if he was identified as her boyfriend. It was always a risk but they knew it was worth it to be together. She placed one final kiss on his chest before falling asleep.
