The Sunshine Islands were an archipelago, far from any official country or nation. Seaweed was on the beach, there were fish aplenty, there was a forest, a few restaurants and an inn, to name a few places.
Two new farmers had arrived.
But neither had bought the old farm.
They moved to Carol's Inn on Sprout Island, part of the archipelago.

One day, a man was entering the inn and went to the counter. A woman, was already there, talking to the inn manager.
The inn manager was in brown hair and a pink and red dress.
"Unfortunately, Chelsea," the inn manager said. "I called Taro and the farm isn't ready, yet."
Chelsea had a red handkerchief on top of red hair. She had a red shirt and yellow undershirt. She had blue shorts and red yellow boots. Her blue eyes sparkled.
"I'll see Taro in person, tomorrow, than, Carol," Chelsea said.
Then Carol noticed the man.
"You sell anything, today, Mark?" Carol said.
Mark was in a blue hat covering blonde hair. He had brown jacket, blue shirt and blue jeans, black and yellow boots and a red neckerchief. He also had matching blue eyes.
Mark said, "No, I was actually at Taro's, today. But he told me the same thing."
Mark gazed at Chelsea and Chelsea gazed at him in turn.
"You mean, you're my competition?" Chelsea said with a hand on her hip.
"Seems so," Mark shrugged.
Mark and Chelsea stared at her and caused Carol to interrupt them.
"How about some food on the house?" she asked. "I just started cooking again, recently."
"Cool," said Mark. "I'm indifferent to any and all food. Serve me anything."
"Me, too!" said Chelsea.
"Huh," said Mark. "I never found a woman who preferred anything, too!"
"It's a first for me, too!" said Chelsea.
Carol returned with rice balls.
"So! I'm sure you remember I'm your 'competition'?" Mark said.
Chelsea grinned. "Yeah, so?"
"Let's have an eating contest!" Mark said.
"What's the prize?" Chelsea asked. "The winner wins the farm? When it's finished?"
"All right!" Mark said. "Then how about if I win, you date me? One date!"
"Agreed!" said Chelsea, who held out her hand to fist bump.
Mark fist bumped her fist in
"Carol!" said Chelsea to the manager. "Would you consider being our referee?"
Carol, who saw everything, said, "Sure thing!"
Both farmers hurried quickly, not bothering to taste the contents.
Mark won!
"Excuse me, but I have to wash the dishes, " said Carol.
She left.
"Guess it's time for our date!" Mark said with glee.
"I want to pick when and where!" said Chelsea in annoyance.
"Fine," Mark said. "When and Where?"
"Tomorrow!" Chelsea said. "And at the other town restaurant."
So, each farmer got ready for their date in the morning.

It was the next day and neither farmer knew what to wear.
Chelsea got out a red dress and put her red hair in a bun.
Mark got out a blue polo and blue jeans.
Each were ready. Only both went into different directions.
Chelsea went into Hailia's Cafe, which, as it turned out, was on Sprout Island, so it was easier to walk to.
She waited.
But nobody walked in.
Chelsea ordered her own food, which was pancakes. They got cold. So, she left without meeting Mark.
Mark waited, too. Strangely, he ordered waffles. He stayed, but ate a bit.
Then, he, too, left.

They both walked back to the inn. It' was getting late, but the last rays of sunlight streaked across the land, the farmers were still able to see somewhat.
"How dare you stand me up?!" Chelsea said in an accusing tone.
"You must be freaking out!" said Mark. "You were the one who didn't show up!"
Both ran inside the inn where Carol saw them go into their separate rooms.
"At least I was able to see them, even if they didn't check in," said Carol to herself.

The next day, Taro visited the inn.
"I trust Chelsea and Mark are holding up?" he asked.
"They got back last night and barged into their respective rooms," Carol whispered. "I think they had an argument."
"I was just about to tell them the new farm is all fixed up!"
The farmers, who had heard everything, sauntered up to them.
"I WANT IT!" they yelled in complaint.
"We only have a fully-furnished farmhouse and a barn ready. But! We should probably let one of you live in the animaless-barn until we may build another house. So! Who will live where?"
"ME!" yelled the two again.
"Why not try turns?" asked Carol.
"Good idea!" said Taro.
"How about resting in the house if work is on crops that day? And if for no work, stay in the barn?" Chelsea suggested.
"Yeah," Mark said in agreement. "Then we won't be tired."
So, each farmer got ready for both grueling and easy times.

Mark didn't work that day. That night, Mark was in the barn. He was able to sleep with no trouble. But then Chelsea walked in. She was carrying a lantern. She sat beside Mark.
"Why are you here?" Mark asked.
Chelsea rollout her eyes. "I go where I please."
"Lonely?" Mark asked.
Chelsea gazed into the lantern. "Yeah."
"Want to share the house?" Mark said with a grin.
"Tough luck!" she said. "I'm still upset with you about our 'date'! So, no!'
And she ran off into the night. The sun was rising, so she left the lantern behind.
"Smooth," Mark said to himself. "She's annoying, anyhow."

The next day, Mark asked if they may work together on the farm.
"You're letting yourself into my harvesting!" Chelsea pointed out.
"But I should help you! You let me borrow your lantern! I want to repay you!"
Chelsea tapped her foot. "Sure. I'll be happy when the other house is built."
So, the two farmers worked together for the first time.
They talked while they worked.
"Why move to these islands, anyhow?" Chelsea asked.
"To settle down," Mark said. "To have a family."
"I want that, too!" Chelsea said. "You weren't considering me for a wife, were you?"
"Not you!" said Mark. "You've already showed me you are too unreliable to marry."
"Same here!" Chelsea said in agreement.
"But," said Mark. "I want to be friends."
Chelsea smiled. "Me, too!"

That night, Mark and Chelsea were deciding who would sleep in which house.
"Want to share, tonight?" asked Mark.
"Okay!" said Chelsea. "But only if you sleep on the floor."
So, the farmers went to sleep in the same room.

A week later, Taro arrived at the farmhouse. He had brought the carpenter, Gannon, with him.
"Mark! Chelsea!" Taro knocked on the door, not remembering the farmers' living arrangements.
Chelsea opened the door. "Taro! Nice to see you!" Then to the other, buff man, "Who are you?"
"I'm Gannon," the man said. "I'm the town carpenter."
"Well, welcome!" Chelsea.
She let the two men in.
Mark was on the couch, napping.
Chelsea woke up and told him the news.
But there was more news than that.
Everyone sat down on the couch and ate complimentary candies in a bowl.
"Now!" Taro said. "I bet everyone wants to know the reason why I and Gannon are here."
The farmers shrugged.
"Gannon was visiting relatives across the seas up until now. He's here to fix up a new house for the two of you."
"What about the new house?!" yelled Gannon.
"Excuse us," said Mark.
Mark and Chelsea went into a spare room.
"Who should get the new house, Chelsea?" Mark asked.
"Now that a new house is being built, I don't know what to think," Chelsea said. "If only I should trust you! If only you hadn't left me waiting at the cafe! Then I would stay, regardless! "
Mark was stunned! "You mean the diner?"
"What diner?" asked Chelsea.
"What cafe?" asked Mark.
Then they both realized something important! They hadn't of stood each other up! They got confused!
Mark and Chelsea went to the living room.
"Gannon, Chelsea and I are moving in with each other," said Mark. "You may rebuild the old barn into a new one."
And so, Mark and Chelsea decided to live with each other. Forever. And soon, they were married!
