Chapter 8
Finale In The Deep End
"THIS IS IT FOLKS!" Heimdall yelled as both Lenin and Sobek tensed, ready to finish the battle, "Both fighters are BACK on their feet and ready to finish round one once and for ALL! Sobek has FINALLY revealed his infamous Primal Force form! What a TERRIFYING visage, TRULY worthy of the title of Beast God of the Duat! The question STILL remains though, will Sobek's primal power be enough to CRUSH Lenin's rebellious fire? Or will the Father of Communism manage to TAME his savage might?"
Whilst Heimdall was making his commentary, Huitzilopochtli and Amaterasu from their viewing point in the VIP section marveled at Sobek's beastly new visage. "HOLY SHIT! I didn't know Sobek had THAT power hidden away! No wonder people were SO terrified by it, he's an absolute BEAST!" Huitzilopochtli exclaimed.
Amaterasu nodded in agreement, "I must ask though Lord Ra, would you mind elaborating the effects of this Primal Force to us?"
A new voice cut into their conversation, a woman's voice, regal but with a dangerous edge, "Sobek's Primal Force, like mine heightens the user's primal instinct, strength, speed, senses and savagery. If used correctly it is a deadly asset in the user's arsenal. But if they are unable to control it, the Primal Force becomes a deadly double edged sword."
All three Sun Gods turned to meet this newcomer, revealing a tall, slender, but well built woman. Dressed in an ancient Egypt armor set that was coloured blood red with silver accents. hanging from her belt on either side were two Khopesh of the same color scheme. Her head however, was not that of an ordinary human, rather it was the snarling visage of a lioness, with golden fur and beautiful amber eyes. And from the back of her head sprouted long flowing black hair, braided and held in place with golden rings. Sekhmet, Egyptian Goddess of War and Flames had entered the room.
"Father." Sekhmet politely addressed Ra as she took a seat next to him.
"Sekhmet, my daughter, I am pleased that you are able to join us." Ra replied, his eyes not leaving the battlefield below.
"It is Sobek who is fighting after all, as his friend and fellow wielder of the Primal Force, it would be disrespectful for me not to turn up." came her reply
"Nice seeing you too Sekhmet..." murmured Huitzilpochtli sarcastically, seeing how the Lion headed Goddess had chosen not to properly greet him or Amaterasu upon entering. "What did you mean by the Primal Force being a double edged sword?"
"Should a user be unable to fully control their Primal Force, they would become even more vulnerable to its drawbacks. For the Primal Force also lowers the user's ability to think clearly, their morality, and worse of all. Their ability to tell from friend to foe, should one use the Primal Force without fully mastering it, they may end up slaughtering their allies as well as their enemies." Sekhmet replied, eyes now focused on the two combatants below like her father beside her.
Hearing this, Huitzilopochtli and Amaterasu shared an uneasy glance, hearing this made it no wonder so many gods feared the Crocodile God's hidden power.
Back on the battlefield below, Sobek began to slowly pace around Lenin, undoubtedly looking for an opening to strike, and Lenin watched him carefully, every part of his body tensed and ready to spring into action should the Crocodile God attack.
Suddenly Sobek made his move, with blinding speed he lunged towards Lenin, mouth opened wide as if to devour him whole.
"RAVAGER'S MAW!"
"SOBEK HAS MADE HIS MOVE!" Heimdall screamed into his Gjallarhorn as the gargantuan River God leapt through the air, claws outstretched, straight towards Lenin. Quickly thinking on his part, Lenin decided the best course of action was to counter with his hammer, as there was no way he could pull off his special move without risking a limb or two.
And so Lenin, with his weapon held in both his hands, positioned his hammer between his two legs, and in the split second before Sobek attack would have made contact. He, with all his might, lifted his hammer upwards. Catching the charging beast straight in the jaw.
"RISING AGAINST OPPRESSION, HAMMER OF THE PEOPLE!"
A loud " CRUNCH!" was heard as the hammer made contact, causing Sobek's entire head to jerk upwards, spitting out a shower of blood and broken teeth. But as if completely unfazed by the attack, he simply landed with a heavy " SPLASH!" In the waters in front of Lenin, before swinging his entire body around, whipping out his massive tail club, which caught Lenin straight in the gut, sending him reeling backwards, before doubling over and coughing up blood as well. But he just as quickly recollected himself, tilting his head upwards to face Sobek with a grin on his face.
"OH MY GOODNESS! Sobek just took Lenin's counterattack straight to the face and shook it off like it was nothing! Before answering with a devastating tail swipe straight to Lenin's stomach! Is this primal form of Sobek incapable of feeling pain anymore?" As Heimdall made his commentary, he was carefully gripping the sides of his boat, the aftershocks of both fighter's attacks had nearly threatened to overturn his vessel.
Sobek grunted using one massive paw to wipe away the blood on his face, before looking up at Lenin with what could only be described as a smile on his reptilian face. He had forgotten how fun it was using his Primal Force after so many years of hiding it away, where pain was irrelevant and adrenaline was pumping through his veins. Who cared about the opinion of others, who cared about what they might say, this was Sobek at his very pinnacle of strength.
Lenin, though he was still smiling, was at the same time racking his brains trying to come up with a suitable way to counter Sobek's new strength, "HEH! it's like you can't even feel PAIN anymore, eh Comrade Sobek? Oh well, I'M the idiot who asked for this, so I will just have to FIND a way to overcome it!"
Sobek, however, did not give him the luxury of strategising for too long. Before he recommenced his offensive strike, this time charging at full speed towards Lenin, his mouth this time not open, but rather with his head tilted downwards, with the obvious intent to smash into Lenin headfirst.
"UNSTOPPABLE SKULL CRUSHER OF THE NILE!"
Noticing the churning water was starting to hold him in place like before, Lenin had to act quickly, twisting the disk in the center of his breastplate. And to the amazement of the crowd, two rocket jets appeared on the back of his armor! their engines roared to life as the Father of Communism used their thrust to fly high above the water's surface, escaping its trap.
And in the split second before Sobek reached the spot he was hovering above, Lenin disengaged his rockets, with his hammer's head facing downwards on the Crocodile God below. And the Father of Communism fell back down to the ground, ready to crush whatever was below him.
"REBELLIOUS METEOR!"
A heavy " BOOM!" was heard as Lenin's hammer and Sobek's head collided, followed by another mighty " SPLASH!" As the first few rows of audience members at the front were drenched by the fountain of cascading water produced.
The clash had also produced a large amount of rainbow mist, obscuring the two fighters from the rest of the arena.
Heimdall's eyes scanned through the fog, trying to find either of the fighters as he continued announcing the fight. "And ANOTHER brutal clash between these two mighty vanguards of humanity and the gods! But it remains to be seen whether the Father of Communism has successfully put down the Beast God of the Duat, or if Sobek's Primal Force has ONCE again helped him pull through the sheer force of Lenin's attack!"
As one side of the mist cleared, Lenin was seen standing upright, using his hammer for support, huffing and puffing as he gasped for breath. That attack was something he had to come up on the spot, and it wasn't something he could pull off again, as his rocket jets could only be used once for each time he activated his suit.
Glancing up and trying to peer through the mist like the rest of the arena, Lenin's eyes swept through every part, trying to locate where his opponent was. Had he managed to end the fight right there and then? Or was Sobek still alive and waiting for the opportunity to strike again?
Realizing this, Lenin quickly held his hammer and surveyed his surroundings carefully, checking each of his sides, all of his senses on high alert, trying to pick up on where the Crocodile God may strike from once more.
Back on Ra's viewing platform. Huitzilopochtli and Amaterasu were also trying to see whether or not Sobek had survived Lenin's attack from the sky. But even though they were looking right down at the battlefield, the large amounts of mist produced obscured most of it from even their viewing point.
"THIS IS BAD!" Huitzilopochtli yelled," Where the HELL is Sobek? I can't see him with all this fucking mist in my eyes! Do you think he bit the dust already?"
"Lord Ra, surely this isn't how the mighty Sobek meets his end is it? Amaterasu questioned, wheeling around towards Ra and Sekhmet who did not in the least seem slightly fazed.
Ra sighed, annoyed by his two attendant's panicking," I want the two of you to calm yourselves down, if Sobek's Primal Form could be so easily put down from a hammer to his head. I would not have included him in our roster."
Suddenly laughter could be heard from next to Ra, and all heads in the viewing platform turned to Sekhmet, who was watching every moment in the battle with her fullest attention. Her glee unsettled Huitzilopochtli and Amaterasu, for Sekhmet was known for her stoic and serious demeanor, hardly ever finding anything funny or the slightest bit amusing.
"Sekhmet, why is the reason for your happiness? Sobek could be DEAD and we may have JUST lost the first round!" Amaterasu yelled at the Lion Goddess.
However, Sekhmet ignored the Shinto Goddess question, her eyes fixated on the scene below, "Sobek my friend," she murmured under her breath," It's good to see you finally enjoy yourself for once."
— Final Battlefield between the Sun and the Serpent, many millenia prior to this moment —
Sobek sat in the midst of the war torn and desolate land around him. Many other Egyptian Gods who accompanied Ra on his Sun barge across the underworld every night to protect him from the wrath of Apophis also lay bruised and battered, having their wounds bandaged by their friends, or just happily gazing at Ra, who stood triumphantly in front of them.
This was the aftermath of the final clash between Ra and Apophis in a epic battle that had lasted an entire two whole weeks, with the Sun God finally gaining the upper hand on the Chaos Serpent and managing to seal him away in Niflheim itself, where the evil God of Destruction could no longer harm any other being ever again.
Sobek, on one hand, was elated that his brother would no longer be a threat to the realms. But at the same time, what was he to do now? Now that Apophis was gone, Ra planned to go into retirement, leaving the job of guiding the sun to the many other Sun Gods of different pantheons. Meaning that Sobek's and the other gods who had served Ra on his Sun Barge, were now out of a job.
Most of his colleagues were happy that they need not risk their lives anymore, and could relax after so many years. Sekhmet was one of those gods, she was a War Goddess yes, but even she was tired after so many years of fighting the Chaos Serpent every single night without stopping.
"A wondrous day is it not Sobek?" She said, the Lion Goddess had sustained multiple cuts and bruises to her body as well as a broken right arm. But nevertheless she walked as though her injuries were off no matter, taking a seat next to the Crocodile God, "After so many years Lord Ra has finally sealed away that bastard Apophis, and we in turn can finally rest our weary bones for once in so many centuries."
Being a fellow user of the Primal Force, and being trained alongside Sobek in her youth under Ra's guidance, made Sekhmet one of the few gods who did not fear or shun him, rather treating him like a younger brother, often teasing him kindly but still respectfully lending a listening ear for him to share his woes. Making her one of the few gods Sobek ever considered a friend.
Sobek nodded half heartedly, which did not go unnoticed by Sekhmet, "What's the matter Sobek? Don't tell me you feel BAD for that monster? Sure he was your brother, but he was trying to kill our teacher and plunge the realms into darkness!"
Sobek shook his head in reply ,"It's not because of that, Sekhmet, I just … I don't know what I am to do now that the Sun Barge no longer needs protectors."
Sekhmet twitched her ears in confusion, "What are you going to do now? Isn't it obvious? Take a rest for once! Enjoy life in Valhalla! After all, you arguably fought the hardest amongst the crew every single night. You deserve a break the most out of all of us!"
Sobek grunted, "But what's the point in relaxing if there is NO one to share it with? Everyone still FEARS me for my power and relation to the Chaos Serpent. I hoped that by protecting Ra and the Mandjet I could finally be seen as something else besides the Beast God of the Duat, but they STILL only see me as a monster to this very moment!"
Sekhmet sighed, this same problem again, she felt bad for her friend in the early days when they trained together, other gods of their age would spy on their training session, often insulting Sobek when Ra wasn't around, calling him demeaning names like, 'Murderer', 'Sobek the No Tongued Monster' or 'Apophis number 2'. And everytime it was Sekhmet who sent them running away with a mighty roar and a wave of her khopesh.
She could understand why Sobek would long for more friends besides her, but now it had become an obsession for the Crocodile God and Sekhmet was becoming frustrated by it.
"I'm your friend Sobek, you don't need to keep trying to please those idiots, stop trying to change the fact that the Primal Force is your birthright. No matter WHAT you do, those guys won't change their opinions on you. The gods are just as petty and shallow as the humans they claim to be superior to."
Sobek sighed again, he appreciated Sekhmet providing a listening ear for him, but he felt that she didn't fully understand his pain. Gazing towards the horizon once more, before being suddenly struck with an idea, "That's it! I'll just NOT use my Primal Force anymore! That way they WON'T see me as a monster! And they will FINALLY treat me like an equal!" He cried, jumping to his feet.
Upon hearing this Sekhmet went from exasperated to angry, in a furious snarl she got to her feet as well and looked Sobek dead in the eye, "FINE! Do whatever the FUCK you want then, keep trying to please those dumbasses like a fucking puppy with its tail between its legs! I once respected you for the strength you showed when using the Primal Force Sobek, but now ALL I see is a fool chasing the admiration of those who will NEVER share it with him!"
And with that the Lion goddess stalked off, as Sobek tried calling after her, before giving up and sitting dejectedly once more on the ground. But even though he had lost his only friend, foolish Sobek still was determined to follow through with his half baked plan. And finally win the approval he so craved.
(Present Day)
Sekhmet wore a proud smile on her face, much to the confusion of Huitzilopochtli and Amaterasu. For she knew that her friend was in no way finished yet, and she was grateful as well to that human he was facing down below, for it was with his guidance, that Sobek finally had come back to his senses, and accepted his birthright once more and used it in combat again after so many years. Her friend Sobek had at last returned.
Back in the battlefield, Lenin's eyes were still scanning through the mist, which was finally showing signs of fading away, but still there was no sign of Sobek, had the Crocodile God really fallen already?
Then from the corner of his eyes, Lenin spotted a dark shape hurting towards him from his right side, quickly turning to block it with his hammer. Lenin caught Sobek's tail club hurtling out of the mist with his weapon, preventing the Crocodile God's tail from taking his head off his shoulders.
However, Lenin was still pushed back by the sheer force of the clash, and just when things couldn't get any worse, a "CRACK!" was heard throughout the arena, and every human in the audience gasped in horror as they saw that Lenin's hammer like his sickle was broken into two, rendered useless against his opponent.
"NO! THIS IS BAD!" yelled Pandora, her hands clasped together in worry. Lenin's hammer is gone now TOO! There's no WAY we can win this now!" Her eyes began to tear up with worry.
Göll reached out to comfort the crying girl, she was worried too, but after the first Ragnarok, she had learnt to be stronger for her friends and her own sake. "Don't worry Pandora, don't forget Lenin STILL has his special move. If he pulls another one of them off, I'm sure we can win the first round! Right Prometheus?" But even she wasn't fully convinced by her own words after seeing the true strength of Sobek.
"Indeed Göll, you should not be so quick to dismiss Lenin's own capabilities Pandora, and even IF we lose. This is ONLY the first round, we still have plenty more chances to turn the tide of the battle." Prometheus replied
"But, but if Lenin loses his soul will be sent to Niflheim, and he won't EVER come back right? How can you be SO calm about this then?" Pandora sobbed
Prometheus sighed, "Dear Pandora please do not cry as though Lenin is already dead, his fighting spirit is still very much alive. However, what you just said is the unfortunate sacrifice we must make to ensure humanity's survival, Lenin and the rest of the second batch of Einherjar as well as the first, know this risk, but most of them are still willing to lay their lives down to protect future generation from the wrath of the gods."
Even though she knew Prometheus was right, Pandora still couldn't help but quietly sob in the arms of Göll who was trying her best to soothe her friend.
Meanwhile, Lenin with no other choice, discarded the broken hammer that had served him well throughout the match so far. Raising his fist which glowed with power once more.
"Sobek's sneak attack from the mist has DESTROYED Lenin's hammer as well! It now seems that the Father of Communism will be fighting the Beast God of the Duat in hand to jaw combat from now on! But where on EARTH will Sobek strike from next?" Heimdall called out, as the rest of the audience sat on the edge of their seats in anticipation.
Their questions were immediately answered, first came a terrible " SPLASH!" From Lenin's right, all eyes turned only to see the massive form of Sobek exploding from the mist and water, blood flowing from the fresh wound on top of his forehead where Lenin's hammer had struck him. With a mighty "ROAR!", he clamping his massive jaws onto Lenin's right arm, holding it fast as Lenin struggled to break free, causing the members of the audience to gasp at his ability to sneak up so close underwater completely undetected until it was too late.
"And Sobek has FINALLY revealed himself!" Heimdall yelled excitedly, even though he was a bit shaken. Sobek's latest attack had caused his boat to tip precariously to one side, threatening to send the Watchman of the Apocalypse headfirst into the waters below. "He now has Lenin arm TRAPPED in that huge jaw of his, with absolutely NO way of breaking free!"
Sekhmet leapt out of her seat to get a closer look, "THIS IS IT!" She exclaimed, "He's FINALLY going to use his ultimate attack!"
"Ultimate attack?" Amaterasu asked quizzically.
"Come closer to the window and see for yourself," Sekhmet replied, "Consider you and Huitzilopochtli lucky to see my friend perform that move after so many years."
In the wild Crocodiles often perform a move known as a death roll on their captured prey, this move involves them grabbing their prey with their jaws and rolling around multiple times till their prey is dismembered and killed. They do this to break their prey into smaller chunks making them easier to swallow, as well as to disorientate their prey by making them too dizzy to escape with the fast rotations of the death roll.
Being the God of Crocodiles, Sobek was no stranger to the death roll. However, his humanoid body meant that it was difficult for him to perform it whilst in his normal form. But when using his Primal Force, Sobek had absolutely no problem performing this deadly move. And so, Sobek's death roll became the god's most feared attack, capable of incapacitating and confusing any unfortunate enemy he got a hold off, before tearing them asunder if they could not break free in time. This ultimate move was called,
"DEATH ROLL OF THE DUAT!"
Sobek yanked Lenin downwards into the water arm first, spinning wildly in the water round and round and round. Lenin thrashed around, panicking at first, trying his best to ignore the searing pain from his muscles tearing and his bones cracking on his right arm, as he was violently spun around in the Crocodile God's iron grip.
At first he tried hitting Sobek with his left fist that was still free, but his fists' smaller surface area as compared to his hammer, meant that his attacks were not as effective when dealing with Sobek's Shield of the Nile. He then switched his strategy, targeting Sobek's wounded forehead, delivering heavy jabs and blows, which saw more success. But the sheer strength and tenacity granted by Sobek's Primal Force, meant that the Crocodile God did little more than flinch when struck.
Just as Lenin nearly lost all hope, he realized something, Sobek's jaws clamping down on his arm meant that he was applying force on it. Which in turn meant that his suit could transfer that force to his left for another special attack. However, Lenin didn't know if Sobek's attacks had damaged the suit to the point where it could no longer perform his special attack, but it wasn't like he had another choice, so he might as well try.
Mustering what little strength remained, Lenin commanded his suit to execute Radical Overthrow, Equalizer's fist. And to his relief, he could just make out a dim glow of light from in between Sobek's teeth coming from his trapped arm, and that glow was slowly making its way across his shoulder and to his left fist.
Even though his vision was blurry and disorientated, Lenin could just about make out Sobek's bleeding forehead, channeling all his willpower to hold out against the mind-searing pain for a few more moments. He waited for the perfect moment before striking, aiming to split Sobek's head open.
"RADICAL OVERTHROW, EQUALIZER'S FIST!"
"BOOM!" was all that was heard, an explosion erupted from within the water, immediately the thrashing of the two fighters stopped, and the crowd surged to their feet trying to see who had survived the vicious process.
Heimdall squinted his eyes, making out two dark shifting shapes emerging from the water; he dared not get any closer to the two fighters out of fear of getting seriously injured.
To the crowd's amazement, both fighters emerged from the water alive, but looking worse for wear, Sobek's left eye was swollen shut, a purple bruise oozing blood, obscuring the left side of his view entirely. Evidently Lenin's attack had missed his wounded forehead entirely, and instead left its mark on his left eye.
Speaking of which, Lenin on the other hand, had it arguably worse, the armor on his right arm was completely destroyed, sparks flying, smoke billowing and his mutilated fleshy charred arm was visible to all. It seemed that activating his special move whilst one arm was sustaining such heavy pressure, had caused the suit armor covering it to explode, rendering his right arm completely useless.
Both fighters had their backs facing one another, Sobek snarled, holding his injured forehead and eye tightly, trying to stem the bleeding, wincing in pain. While Lenin groaned, vomiting blood into the water, still feeling dizzy after being taken for the wild ride that was Sobek's death.
"AMAZING, both fighters are STILL alive after tanking each other's MOST powerful attacks! These two juggernauts are BOTH just unwilling to submit and die! But that does not change the fact that only ONE of them will be left standing in the end! The question is, WHO will crack first?"
Lenin grunted, seeing his mutilated right hand, he knew that there was no way he could perform Radical Overthrow, Equalizer's Fist again, and that was the only way he could reliably end this fight. It seemed that all hope was lost ….
Unless ….. unless he diverted all the suit's power to his still functioning left hand, granted he had never tried that out before, but with no other viable options left, he might as well die trying.
And so, sending what would be his last command to the suit, Lenin willed all of the remaining power in his suit to be transferred into his left arm. And as he said that, all the armor plates on the rest of his body began to shift and move, leaving him back in his torn and tattered three piece suit. Save for his left hand and shoulder, which was now covered in all the armor plates that had once covered the rest of Lenin's body. Making for an impressive crimson and gold oversized gauntlet that was as tall as Lenin himself, this was...
"THE GAUNTLET OF THE RESTLESS REBEL!"
It was a strange look, a man in a beat up and torn three piece attire, with a gigantic metallic left arm, glowing and pulsing with pure energy. The crimson plates were smoking and rattling violently as they struggled to hold the massive amounts of energy within.
Upon seeing this, Sobek knew that if he took one hit from the mechanical monstrosity that stood in front of him, it would be game over. But rather than back down and try to approach with stealth. The crocodile God stood on his haunches, evidently about to go for another death roll to finally end it all. He would meet this man head on, responding to all of his power as the Beast God of the Duat.
Both fighter's, though having sustained massive injuries from the other's attack. Held no resentment or anger towards each other. Instead they both wore grins on their faces, for they knew that this would be the last time they would clash.
The winner, they knew, would undoubtedly be the one who managed to strike his opponent first. Would it be Sobek who sunk his jaws into the now undefended body of Lenin? Or would it be Lenin who pummeled Sobek's head in with his gigantic Gauntlet of Rebellion? And so, yelling a final battle cry, they charged towards one another.
"DEATH ROLL OF THE DUAT!!"
"RADICAL OVERTHROW, EQUALIZER'S FIST MK2!"
Another explosion was made as they finally met in the center, with a force so great that it threw those still standing up back into their seats or on to the ground. Water was sent flying everywhere as both warriors thrashed once more violently underwater for what felt like eternity.
Prometheus, although he and his two companions were on one of the higher stands of the arena, had to hold on to both Göll and Pandora to prevent them from being blown away, with even him struggling to keep his two feet planted on the ground. And as for poor Heimdall, who was in the closest proximity to the two fighter's clash, found himself and his boat blown right out of the water and into the seats of the arena. Thankfully a god below him was able to catch the Watchmen of the Apocalypse before he was seriously injured.
However, the churning water produced by their headfirst onslaught, as well as the massive explosion from their collison meant that onlookers had no idea which of them had made their mark first. And so they all watched with bated breath, for which of the two would be the one left standing.
Mist, and now smoke, billowed out from the center of the arena once more. With audience members struggling to their feet and trying to see who was the victor. And as the smoke and mist finally cleared, the sight that was to behold caused the hearts of humanity to sink.
For lying on his back in the water, Left arm equally ruined and mutilated as his right, with shards of armor embedded deep in his skin. Was Lenin. His eyes closed, and the lower region of his abdomen completely mangled and broken, evidently his gauntlet could not withhold the sheer amount of force stored in it. And had unfortunately exploded before he had even made contact with Sobek. And judging from the gruesome injuries he had below, it seemed that Sobek's attack on the other hand, had made contact.
The Crocodile God in question, was seated next to the defeated Lenin, trying to catch his breath, having reverted back to his normal self at some point after their clash, numerous wounds riddled his body, with so much blood pouring out of each, that the water around the two was a deep crimson.
Finally being able to talk again, Sobek addressed the Father of communism next to him. "It seems that I am the victor of our bout, Comrade Lenin." He spoke not with any smugness or joy at having won. But rather his voice was somber and low. "Although you must forgive me, for I wasn't able to crush your bones into powder as I promised at the start."
Lenin, who many thought was already dead, shocked the audience with a wheezing laugh, "Ah, but I can't feel the bones in my two arms nor move them anymore Comrade Sobek, so I think you have managed to fulfill that promise of yours in the end after all."
Sobek chuckled weakly at Lenin's words, "You are a good man Comrade Lenin, you do not deserve to experience the icy hold of death for a second time. But do enlighten a foolish god, what does dying feel like?" He spoke with no malice but respectfully, like a disciple would to his teacher.
Lenin smiled weakly, opening his eyes, "Well, Comrade Sobek, I do not speak for everyone when I say this, but for me. When I died for the first time whilst on earth, it was a horrible experience in the days leading up to my passing, riddled with so much regret and guilt, it was torturous. But when a rather benevolent titan decided to pay me a visit in my final moments, accompanying me and teaching me one last life lesson before I died, I was able to pass peacefully, with my heart and soul unburdened, and my mind cleared. It was quite a lot like falling asleep I would say."
"I see," Sobek replied," And what about now? What is dying this time like?"
"Hmmmm, I would say that this time it feels a bit more bland, I didn't do much in my time spent in Valhalla. So there aren't many things for me to feel regret or be proud of." As Lenin said this, his body began to crack and shatter as the essence of his very soul began to break, reduced to dust in the vacuum of space, it seemed that the wound he received on his lower body was the killing blow that had decided the match.
Sobek turned to the Father of Communism, with a sad grin on his face and spoke to him for the last time.
"Then allow me to give you something that you can be proud of before you depart. I want you to take pride in the fact that in a death match against a god, you have not only managed to bring him to his knees on numerous occasions. But you have taught him a valuable lesson that he will forever remember alongside your memory. Rest easy Vladimir Lenin, for you may not be remembered by all as a hero on earth, but today in the Valhalla Arena, you will be remembered as one of the mightiest Einherjar, who went toe to toe with the Beast God of the Duat."
Hearing this Lenin smiled, nodding his head slightly towards Sobek one last time, before his body dissolved fully at last, the green shards that were once his body and soul now fluttering gently into the wind before finally being blown away.
Sobek watched what remained of Lenin disappear into the wind with a sad expression, before lowering his head as a show of respect to the fallen human.
"W-well folks," Heimdall announced, breaking the stunned silence of the arena, "After a long mighty clash between two powerful combatants, with MANY twists, turns and developments, it seems that the first round of Ragnarok No.2 goes to the GODS ONCE AGAIN, FOR THE VICTOR IS NONE OTHER THAN THE BEAST GOD OF THE DUAT, SOBEK!"
Ragnarok Round 1
Sobek vs Vladimir Lenin
Winner: Sobek
Deciding Move: Death Roll of the Duat
Time: 20:25
The first round has gone to the God's again, maybe a bit predictable for readers who have read other ROR fanfics, but I'm mostly satisfied with how this match turned out, make your guesses for the next two contestants in Round 2 in the reviews and, as well as leaving constructive criticism on how you think I can improve writing for the following battles. Both are very much appreciated by me. :)
