Summary: What a cute little thing she was, his darling little step-sister. He couldn't help but want her all to himself. Excellent persuasion skills had her right where he wanted her and letting her go was the last thing on his mind. Those little nuisances that were her classmates were nothing more than obstacles. He, most definitely, had no qualms about getting rid of them, either.
Pairing: Kagome x Adam. ; Final pairing undecided

Rated M because of Adam and his red-flag personality.
Chapter One
There was something about all of this that she couldn't quite shake. Ever since this decision had been made, Kagome wasn't able to get rid of that nagging feeling in the pit of her stomach. She didn't know what caused it, which only made it all the more troubling. She didn't exactly like the feel of it, either. It was frustrating considering just how used she'd gotten to relying on her senses.
"Kagome-chan, you remember Ainosuke, right?"
Upon getting home, the raven-haired girl had intended to head up to her room. She'd fallen behind on packing due to the last few trips through the well, and the impending move overseas was gradually only getting closer.
Her mother wanted to move to America to be closer to her grieving sister, and, while not necessarily thrilled about leaving home, Kagome wasn't about to try and argue against it. She knew her mother had her reasons, and she didn't want to put up a fight that would only cause more harm than good.
The sound of her voice calling out from the kitchen caught Kagome's attention. She paused, glancing back at her mother. She sat at the table with a man across from her. She could feel his ruby stare on her, but when she looked at him, he held her gaze. Something about him instantly set her on edge, but she attempted to ignore it.
Admittedly, she was drawing a blank at recognizing him. It must've shown on her face, because after a few seconds his lips quirked up in an amused smile.
"I'm not surprised that she doesn't," he said, breaking the silence that'd built up. "I think the last time she saw me was when she was five? It's been ten years, at least." he mused thoughtfully. "I suppose that's mostly my fault, though."
Kagome took a few steps closer, coming up on her mother's side. "Ah… yeah, sorry," she stated with a faint flush on her face. "I um… I don't really remember you." She got the feeling that she probably should, but she couldn't piece it together.
Her mother gently patted her hand with her own, the gesture soothing. "It's all fine," she reassured. "Your step-father, do you remember him?" she asked.
"Not much," she admitted with a shrug. He was someone she never saw much of, always busy with other things. She never minded it, anyway. Though, with the mention of him, she glanced back at the blue-haired man. A distant memory came back, and she looked at him a bit closer, blinking owlishly a few times. "Oh, wait, now I remember you," she stated. "You're his son."
He smiled, laughing faintly under his breath at her observation. "Yes," he said, nodding as he confirmed her accusation. "Realistically, we only had a year together at most, so the fact that you managed to remember me makes me more than happy, Kagome-chan."
Confused as to why he was there, she glanced at her mother. Confusion was evident in her eyes. "So… did something happen?" she asked, unable to rationalize why else he'd be there so seemingly out of the blue. Her mother shook her head, offering her a faint smile.
"No, nothing happened," she responded. "I know you haven't said anything, but I know you're not really wanting to move to America with me," she continued. Before Kagome could say anything, she silenced her as she raised a finger into the air. "I still talk to Ainosuke every once in a while, and I brought it up to him. He offered for you to live with him, so you can stay here. That way, you don't have to change your school plans any."
The comment took her by surprise. She looked from her mother, to him, and then back at her mother. "Eh? Really?" she asked. She almost couldn't believe it, but, at the same time, she felt somewhat relieved. The offer, while entirely unexpected, made a grin spread across her face. She looked back at him, blue eyes shining vividly. "You really don't mind it?"
"Of course not," he responded, giving a casual wave of his hand as he looked at her. "I'm afraid I'm quite busy, but you're more than welcome," he stated with a smile. She looked at him, noting an odd change in his aura. She couldn't quite place what it was, but it caught her attention. It wasn't bad, but at the same time, it made her stomach twist nervously. "Plus, I've been thinking of you quite a bit lately. I want to be closer."
It'd been decided at that moment. A month later, her mother and younger brother had gone to America, and she'd moved in with him. The entire home felt more like a manor. It was spacious, and her room was definitely decorated with her in mind. When she asked, he told her that he'd had her mother's input on it. It made plenty of sense, and she could tell he was being honest about it.
True to his word, he was very busy, but that didn't limit the moments he tried to spend with her. Whether it was just a few minutes between meetings to talk with her, or planning time out to spend with her, it seemed that he'd worked her into his schedule as well.
She'd been curious about what his career was, but she didn't have to wait long to figure it out. Turns out that he's a politician. Well, the lavish home and busy schedule made a lot more sense then.
She'd been there for almost two months now. She'd fallen into her own routine of sorts. In prep for her finally being able to return to school, she had become much more invested in her studies. Her grades had plummeted drastically due to her time spent on the other side of the well, but they'd gradually improved.
She was seated at the desk in her room, trying to focus on the open notebook in front of her. The various formulas all blurred together as she found it nearly impossible to focus on the contents of the page. In the distance, she felt his aura. The feel of it served to sever her ability to focus.
She wasn't sure why, but there was something about him… She'd slowly been taking note of it, and the more she did, the harder it was to brush it off.
There was a knock on the door, and it opened a few seconds later. Out of habit, she turned to glance over her shoulder. Something about him seemed different, but she wasn't able to put her finger on it. His hair, however, wasn't slicked back like it normally was.
"Oh, hey," Kagome said, sending him a faint smile. The clock on her desk read a little after one in the morning. "Something up?" she asked.
He shook his head as he closed the distance between them. "No, not really," he mused. His hand fell to land on the desk by her open notes as he leaned over her shoulder. She tensed up some at the abrupt closeness, but didn't say anything otherwise. After a moment, he chuckled. "How's studying going?" he asked. His tone told her just how little he was interested in such a thing, but she supposed he was asking to try and show interest.
"It's… going," she admitted. "I don't like math," she added with a sigh.
"Oh, you poor little dear," he cooed softly, his other hand coming up to comb gently through her hair. The nagging feeling in the pit of her stomach came back full force, and she tapped the tip of her pen against the notebook anxiously. "Surely there must be a way to make it more… enticing, hm?"
Kagome was silent as she shook her head, keeping her gaze fixed on the page in her notebook. "I um… I'm actually not sure about that," she responded. "I think I'll just have to suffer with it."
"Is that so?" he mused, hand moving her hair back from her ear as he leaned down a bit further so his lips were against her ear. "Maybe what you need is just a little bit of distraction," he murmured, breath warm against her ear and later her neck as he continued to lean down. Kagome felt her heart pounding in her chest. "A little incentive to make the struggle of imprinting it to memory a little more enjoyable, hm?"
"I'm not so sure…-"
"Is that so?" he chuckled. "How about you let me show you?" he asked. He pulled away from her, though his hand still lingered in her hair. Kagome, finally able to move again, turned to look at him. "After all, I want to see you succeed more than anyone."
"Show me what?" she asked. A gleam lurked in his eyes that only made her feel uneasy. His hand reached for her own, easily tugging her up from her seat. She tried to shake the unease she felt, brushing it away as he took her place in the chair. Before she could say much more, he gripped her a bit tighter and tugged her down onto his lap, her back to his chest. One of his hands moved to land high up on her thigh, while his other wrapped around her hips to hold her steady on her new perch.
A few seconds of tense silence ticked between them. Kagome wasn't sure what to do in this situation, and he was waiting for the reaction he'd get before doing anything else.
"W-What're you…-"
"Supervising your studying," he breathed in her ear. A shiver raced down her spine at his response. At his words, she slowly let her attention return to the notes on the page. She tried to ignore his presence, but doing so became impossible when she felt his hand gradually inching further up her thigh.
She glanced at him from the corner of her eye, but he didn't react. His gaze remained on the notebook, as if his fingers hadn't vanished under the edge of her skirt. They came to a halt just below her skirt, tracing small patterns along her inner thigh. After a moment, he chuckled and removed his arm from around her hips to tap a finger on the page.
"Focus now," he murmured against her ear. "Aren't you the one who wanted to study? So, I'll take it upon myself to make sure you do just that."
When she didn't try to worm herself off of his lap, a pleased smile settled on his face.
The fact she wasn't fighting this embrace made it all the more better.
What a cute little thing she was.
Auroua-chan: Gonna end this one here. Adam/Ainosuke and Kagome are such a guilty pleasure of mine. He's such a red flag though. Kagome's far from oblivious, but he's a good manipulator. BTW this story is rated for Adam and his glaring red flag personality.
The pairing probably won't be Adam/Kagome in the end.
Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed. Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.
