Father and Son Talk

Leo was in his room very confused holding Romeo close to him. All his life he was told by his mother that his father left them before he was born. But that man who yelled at the Pyg to get away from him, had called him his son. Was his mom lying to him this whole time? If she was did she lie to him about other things? He had to find out and if that man really is his dad.

Leo crept quietly out from his room and went to the top of the stairs in time to see the man walking to the door.

"Daddy?" Leo whispers.

Even though he only whispered it, Harvey somehow heard it and turned to see Leo standing at the top of the stairs in his blue pajamas.

Harvey ran up the stairs and hugged Leo tightly.

"Yes, buddy," Harvey said quietly, "I am Daddy."

"But I don't understand," Leo said in a confused voice, "Mommy told me you left us."

"Oh, Leo, I don't know why she did it, but your mommy lied to you," Harvey said sadly, "And she lied to me to. I never would've left if I had known, I love you kiddo."

"I love you too Daddy," Leo said, but is still sad that his own mother lied to him about his father.

Harvey's heart swelled up hearing that and then he kissed Leo on the head. Father and son then touched foreheads and smiled at each other. Harvey murmured, "I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault," Leo said, "You didn't know. But it hurts that Mommy lied about you,"

"I know Leo," Harvey agrees.

"But since you're back, does this mean you and Mommy are going to be together again?" Leo asks.

Harvey pauses for a few moments before answering, "No. Me and Sofia...well there's too many issues between us. It's all grownup stuff. But I promise you Leo, nothing is going to change between us. We'll still be able to spend time together and I will still see you, no matter what your mother says or thinks. Right now, you're the thing that matters to me most of all."

"Will it be soon?" Leo asked.

"I plan on it," Harvey said before taking out his special two headed coin, "But a little luck can't hurt. Call, heads or tails."

"Heads," Leo answered.

Harvey flipped coin into the air and it landed in his hand, then he set the coin on the back of his other hand to reveal heads, making Leo smile.

"That's amazing," Leo said.

"No what's amazing is this," Harvey said, revealing that the coin was actually two heads on both sides.

"How come your coin has two heads?" Leo asks.

"I don't know, that's how it is I guess," Harvey answers, "But my father, your paternal grandfather, who used to have this coin would flip it to make his own luck."

"His own luck?" Leo repeats looking at Harvey,

"Whatever works," Harvey answered with a smile and then decided, "Why don't you hang onto this for now?"

Leo looked confused, "You're giving me your lucky coin?" He asked, "But it's yours."

"I know, but I think right now you need it more," Harvey replies and then gives his coin to his son.

Leo smiles looking at the coin in his palm. "Thank you Daddy," Leo said.

"You're welcome Leo," Harvey said and then they hugged each other close and after a few moments they let go. "I'll see you son."

Harvey then walked down the stairs and took one last look at his and waved goodbye to him as Leo also waved goodbye to him. Harvey hated to leave Leo alone with Sofia, but he couldn't legally take Leo without genuine proof that Sofia was an unfit parent. He also knew that because Sofia was the daughter of the powerful mob boss, Don Carmine Falcone, chances of getting custody were slim, especially with a corrupt system, but he was determined to find a way.

"I see you're not shy about it," Sofia's voice spoke. Harvey turned to see Sofia standing in the living room as he realizes Sofia was watching them.

Harvey glares at Sofia and said, "He saw me leaving. I wasn't going to ignore him." Harvey then asked, "Do you love him?"

Sofia gave a look, "Excuse me?"

"Leo," Harvey answered, "Do you love him?"

"Why would you ask me that?" Sofia asked.

"Answer me!" Harvey demands, "Do you love Leo?"

"Of course I love him," Sofia answers.

Harvey couldn't tell if she was lying by the tone of her voice. But he decided to keep it to himself for now. He then exited the door as Leo quickly runs back to his room scared of his mom getting mad at him.

About a half hour later Jim Gordon showed up to talk with Sofia. She was sitting by the fireplace with a drink in her hand.

When she saw Jim she said, "You're the hero of the day."

"I was just doing my job," Jim responds, "Besides Harvey is the one who beat up the Pyg."

Ignoring the comment about Harvey, Sofia said, "I know you hate me for what I did, but you deserve to be Captain."

"I went to your father for help. I knew what I was getting into," Jim said, "Doesn't mean I have to like it."

"But you accept it," Sofia replies slightly narrowing her eyes.

"Because I do deserve it," Jim states. "Just like Gotham deserves law and order. And I'm gonna make sure it gets it."

"You don't think I don't want that too?" Sofia asked, getting up from where she was sitting and setting her drink down, she walks over to Jim and says, "I'm not your enemy Jim. I never will be." Sofia puts her hand on Jim's face and slowly kisses him. Jim then realizes what she's doing and slowly steps away from her.

Meanwhile Leo slowly opens up his bedroom door and quietly sneaks to bathroom to get a glass of water. When he's on his way back to his room he notices Martin standing in the hallway and looks like he's looking into the living room.

"Martin? What's he doing here?" Leo asked himself, "I thought he already left with Mr. Penguin a while ago."
