We have reached the end of this story, thanks to all who read it and gave their opinion as it serves to correct the errors and move forward trying to improve. I hope you liked it. Next week I will have a new story from the Mondlers.
Remember English is not my native language, I hope the translation is correct, check it, but sometimes I miss some incorrect personal pronouns for the phrase, sorry.
I reiterate, I do not own the characters of Friends I only rely on them for the pure pleasure of writing stories without any economic interest, and Monica and Chandler they inspire me.
Chapter 8
Thanksgiving was celebrated by everyone in apartment 20. Monica knew that it was the last celebration that would be held in her beloved apartment.
Monica's parents were surprised that Chandler did not eat any typical Thanksgiving food, and he explained it to them, but without further details.
The following week Monica and Nina moved to their new home. Nina was happy, she now had all her toys, and every day she had breakfast with her parents. So that Monica would not have to leave so early to drop off Nina and run to work, Chandler offered to share the task; he would take Nina to the Kindergarten and Monica would pick her up.
Monica got used to the sporadic ringing of the phone in the middle of the night when some parent required Chandler's help and he would come out immediately. Monica loved Chandler's personality, always willing to help whoever needed it, he never complained about those calls.
Soon the Christmas holidays would arrive, Monica, Chandler, Rachel and Ross went to buy the Christmas trees, one for each apartment, and Monica as every year put up the one for apartment 20, for the one in her new home she received help from Chandler and Nina, who was in charge of putting the star on the highest branch, with the help of her father.
For Christmas Eve they all met at Chandler and Monica's apartment, Judy still didn't know it, she liked how bright it was and also that it had an elevator, she and Jack already had trouble getting to apartment 20.
Nina had dinner with them and intended to stay and wait for Santa Claus, but Chandler convinced her that Santa Claus only went to houses where the children were asleep, and Nina agreed to go to bed, Monica stayed with her for a few moments, telling her stories about Santa Claus until Nina fell asleep.
The next morning, Nina woke them up very early to see their presents. Mom and Dad were still half asleep, they had finished the meeting quite late, but they opened the presents to Nina's excitement and joy. Before noon, the three of them left in a rented car to Judy's house, where they would share Christmas lunch with Ben.
The next day, Chandler was at the hospital when he received a call from his father. "Hello son, how are you, how are Monica and Nina?"
Chandler had kept his father informed ever since he started dating Monica. He knew that he would be very pleased to hear his son happy.
"Hello dad, everything is fine here, and you?" Chandler answered.
"Well, I wanted to let you know with Fred, after New Year's we are traveling to London, I have a proposal to open a club there, and I thought about stopping for five days in New York, to see them, meet Monica and Nina, do you mind?" Charles asked
"No dad, how can we be bothered, Monica will be delighted to meet you and Nina will surely love you, tell me when you arrive and I will pick them up"
"No son, the flight is at night, we will go directly to the hotel, we will be in the city on January 5th" Charles answered
"Well, let me know so they come home and then we can organize something around that time" Chandler answered
When Chandler told Monica she got a little nervous, "Will he like me?"
"My father is the complete opposite of my mother, he will love you, just like Nina, you see, he is very fun, you will have a good time.
For New Year's Eve, the friends, like every year, organized a party in apartment 20. They arrived before the guests so Monica could help the girls with the snacks. Nina ate some and since it was already late she fell asleep on the couch. Chandler laid her down on Rachel's bed. He knew that once Nina fell asleep the music and the noise of the guests wouldn't wake her up. She was used to sleeping in apartment 20 where there was always activity, laughter, television, music.
It was the first time they would share the ball drop, and they were both eager to share that first kiss of the new year.
Finally, Charles and Fred arrived in town. Monica and Chandler had organized a dinner to welcome them.
Charles barely entered and said, "Monica, you are as beautiful as my son described you. Look, my stage name is Helena, but you call me Charles, and this is Fred, my husband."
Monica gave him a wide smile. He obviously didn't look anything like Nora.
Nina ran out of her bedroom when she heard voices. She knew that Chandler's father would come that night, and she thought that if her mother's parents were her grandparents, her father's parents were also her grandparents.
"Oh, what a beautiful girl," Charles exclaimed. "You have to be Nina."
"My name is Nina E. and are you my grandfather?" She asked with a huge smile.
Charles got excited, and bending down to her height, he gave her a hug. "Yes, honey, I'm your grandfather Charles, and this is Fred, who also knelt down to give the little girl a hug."
"Grandpa, do you want to see my room?" Nina asked.
"Yes, of course," the grandfather answered.
From that moment on, Nina was never separated from her grandfather. He was fun and cheerful like her father.
During Charles' stay, they went out with Nina to the park, to the zoo, and, baby sister included, the four adults went out to dinner and to see a couple of theater shows.
Monica was delighted with Charles, he was obviously a man with emotions, like her husband, the polar opposite of Nora.
When the time came to leave Nina asked them "why are you leaving? I don't want you to go"
Charles explained that he lived far away, but promised to come back more often.
"Dad always keeps his promises, do you too?" asked the little girl
"Of course, I keep them too" then Nina tangled her little finger with her grandfather's and smiled at him.
When Valentine's Day came Chandler took Monica to dinner at an elegant restaurant in Midtown, and when dessert arrived Chandler ordered Champagne and took Monica's hand.
"Mon, for most of my life I thought I would always be alone, that no woman would ever accept my love, but when I met you, when I looked into your eyes, when I saw how beautiful you were inside, I knew I had to fight even against myself, against my fears of the past, because I couldn't lose you, and now I want to make sure that we are always together, because I love you so deeply that it hurts" Chandler took a small case out of his pocket and opened it "Mon, will you marry me?" and inside it shone a beautiful diamond ring with two sapphires as blue as Monica's eyes"
Monica didn't expect it, not yet, and she felt her heart explode with happiness, her eyes filled with tears at the same time that a huge smile took over her face "Of course I'll marry you, forever"
Chandler placed the ring on the finger of his beloved woman and they kissed tenderly waiting to leave the restaurant to seal their happiness with the most passionate kiss possible. -
When the friends found out the first thing they asked was "When are you getting married?"
"If it were up to me, we'd run away to Vegas tomorrow," Chandler said with a smile. "But I know Monica wants to plan a wedding party."
"But if they get married in Vegas, the wedding doesn't count," Phoebe said.
"Yes, it does," Ross answered. "Getting married in Vegas counts just like getting married anywhere else"
"Ohhh." …. "Well, okay," Phoebe said, thinking.
"But do you have a date?" Rachel asked.
"Yes, I'd like August 14th, which was the day Nina came into my life, and now it'll be the day Chandler and I will seal our love." Monica said with a smile.
"And you'll have time to plan a wedding, there's only 6 months left," Rachel said worried.
"Rachel, that's more than enough. We want a simple wedding, friends, family, nothing more."
Everyone hugged each other.
On February 20th Nina turned 4 and they celebrated with all their friends, including Charles and Fred who stopped by The City on their way back from London.
Days later, one night after dinner and putting Nina to bed, Chandler told Monica that he had been thinking about adopting Nina for a while too. Monica was excited and they quickly went through the adoption process, which logically in light of this new situation moved quickly.
Nina was happy, she was now Nina E. Geller Bing.
In mid-April Monica noticed that she was 5 days late, something really unusual for her, since her periods came punctually. When she went to pick Nina up from the kinder she stopped at a pharmacy and bought three pregnancy tests.
She was anxious and quickly went into the bathroom, "oh god, ALL THREE TESTS WERE POSITIVE" she was pregnant, she couldn't wait for Chandler to arrive, it was incredible news, a miracle.
Monica prepared a special dinner, when Chandler arrived he noticed she was a little restless, Monica told him that she would give dinner to Nina first, and then when she went to sleep they would have dinner. -
Chandler thought it was strange since the three of them always had dinner together.
Chandler started watching a Hockey game until Monica called him to dinner.
"Wow, this is a 5-star dinner, are we celebrating something?"
"Finish the dessert and I'll tell you" Monica answered
Monica got up, went to the bathroom and brought the three tests she used on the table, and looked at him with a huge smile.
Chandler stood paralyzed for a few seconds, but he raised his head and looked at Monica with wet eyes and a huge smile "We're going to have a baby, a baby, god is wonderful"
He got up, hugged her and kissed her passionately.
"Do you agree, isn't it soon?" Monica asked
"Mon, it's never too early for a baby, it's perfect," and hugged her again
"How far along do you think you are?" Chandler asked, very excited
"Look, I'm 5 days late, which is very unusual for me, so I guess 4 weeks"
"We have to make an appointment with an obstetrician to start the check-ups, I have references for an excellent one, tomorrow I'll try to get the contact and make an appointment" Chandler told her
The next day Chandler came with the news that they had an appointment with Dr. Kennedy for the Friday of the following week.
Four days later, during her shift at the restaurant, Monica felt a strong abdominal pain, she went to the bathroom, blood was already running down her legs and she had a strong hemorrhage, evidently she had had a spontaneous abortion, something that the doctor at the clinic had warned her about.
She was devastated, after cleaning herself she asked for permission, took a taxi, took Nina from the garden and returned to the apartment, when she entered she could no longer hold back her tears. Nina was scared.
"Mommy, what's wrong, are you crying?"
"Nothing, honey, I have a strong pain in my stomach, look, be a good girl, go to your room to play, mommy needs to rest for a while," Monica asked her.
"Ok, but if you're sick, call daddy, he's a doctor."
"Yes, my love, I'll call him."
Nina went to her room and Monica lay down on the bed crying inconsolably
When Chandler arrived, the apartment was silent, Monica always waited for him with a coffee while she prepared dinner, Nina was not on the couch watching cartoons either.
He entered Nina's room and saw her asleep hugging some dolls which seemed strange to him.
Then he entered his room and saw Monica lying in a fetal position, and she was clearly crying.
"Mon what's going on? Why are you crying? Did something happen to Nina? Is she asleep?" asked Chandler extremely worried.
Monica sat up in bed, her eyes were red from crying, "There's no more baby, this morning at work I lost him, he's gone"
Chandler immediately hugged her "come here, tell me what happened, do you feel any pain, let's go to the hospital to get you checked out"
"I just feel pain in my soul, I don't think it's necessary to go to the doctor, everything is gone"
"Mon, we don't know, if there's anything left it could cause an infection, I'll call Gaby to see if she can come to stay with Nina and prepare dinner for her"
Gaby only took 15 minutes to arrive, Chandler insisted and ended up convincing Monica to go to the hospital, there they checked her and confirmed that there was no risk of infection.
They returned home, at that moment Nina was with Gaby watching a movie, Chandler told Nina that it was time to go to sleep, and asked Gaby to put her to bed and then she could leave, Monica hugged Nina and went to her room.
Chandler followed Monica, she went into the bathroom and came out with bedclothes, Chandler approached her and hugged her, "Do you want me to make you something, you haven't eaten all day"
"No thanks, I don't feel like it, I just want to lie down and try to sleep"
"Honey, I'll make you some chamomile tea, it will help you sleep" Chandler said softly
"OK" was the only thing Monica said
Chandler went to the kitchen, only then did he relax, his eyes became moist, not only because of the pain caused by the loss of his baby, but more than anything because of the pain Monica was suffering.
The next morning Chandler got up, he had hardly slept, he made breakfast for Nina and called Monica's work to call in sick.
He took Nina to her room to play with her dollhouse.
Then he went to get some coffee, he desperately needed it.
He was in the kitchen when Monica came in, still in his sleepwear.
"Hey love, do you want some coffee, tea, I'll make some toast with cheese, do you need to eat something?"
"No"…. Monica took something out of her robe pocket.
"Here, there's no wedding, I'm going back to the apartment with Rachel tomorrow, and she put the engagement ring on the breakfast bar."
"Mon, what's wrong, what are you doing, I did something wrong, I don't understand?"
"Your mother is right, I am not the right woman for you, I can't even give you a child"
"Mon, this is absurd, of course you are the right woman, you are the love of my life, I would be nobody without you, please put that ring back on" Chandler said looking at her in astonishment
"No, it's decided" said Monica emphatically
"No Mon, nothing is decided, we are a couple, for better or worse, now we have something bad to do, but we will overcome it, we will solve it together"
"Yesterday I saw your face, your wet eyes, your huge smile when you found out you would have a child, and that will never happen, I have no right to condemn you to a future like that" said Monica as tears fell down her cheek
"Mon, don't you love me anymore?" asked Chandler
"Of course I love you, with all my being, that's why I have to let you go…" Monica answered
"Well, I'll clarify that I'm not going anywhere, neither are you, what we have is forever" and Chandler took Monica's hand and put the ring back in its place.
"Think for a moment, obviously you can get pregnant, even when we were taking care of ourselves, …. well not always" Chandler smiled "…. but that means that my little fish managed to get through your uterus and it didn't manage to kill them"
"The doctor told me that could happen, but the difficult thing would be for the pregnancy to succeed" Monica answered
"Mon, according to what you told me, the doctor explained to you that there were no malformations in your uterus, that it was a hormonal issue, and he even told you that you had a chance of being a mother naturally, he just didn't want to risk it with in vitro" and Chandler continued.
"Look, we weren't looking for a baby, so you weren't under any medical supervision or hormonal treatment. When we decide to look for him, in a month, 6 months, whenever, we will go see a specialist doctor, he will give you a treatment and we will succeed"
"Mon, and if we still don't succeed, we will adopt a baby, born from our hearts, like Nina, we will love that baby just like her. Do you think that I don't love Nina as my daughter, just like you, it doesn't matter that she doesn't have our genes, the only thing that matters is that she is our daughter, because that is how we wanted it and you know, she was the first to want it that way, I think that the day you met her she chose you as a mother, and the day she met me she chose me as a father, she wasn't wrong in choosing us, she was our cupid angel"
Monica smiled. Chandler stood up and hugged her tightly, "Mon, nothing and no one will come between us, together we will solve everything" and they kissed passionately.
"Now I'll make you breakfast, you didn't eat anything yesterday, I'll make you some eggs with bacon, they're my specialty" Chandler told her with a smile.
At that moment Nina appeared, "Mommy, your stomachache is gone"
"Yes, my love, I'm fine now"
"Can I have eggs with bacon?" Nina asked
"But you already had breakfast, cereal, yogurt, chocolate milk" Chandler told her
"Yes, but I really like the eggs and bacon that you make" Nina answered
"Wow, I'm going to get jealous" Monica said laughing
"No Mommy, you cook deliciously, but I like the eggs that dad makes"
The storm had passed, and the wedding preparations continued
That summer they decided not to go on vacation to save those days for the honeymoon. Judy and Jack, along with the help of a baby sister, would take care of Nina, and they would have the honeymoon in Paris, a gift from the Montagues and the Capulets in equal parts, as always.
Chandler had fallen in love with Paris, only this time he was going with his wife, the most beautiful woman he had ever met in real life, he concluded that he would no longer need adolescent self-satisfaction.
Finally, the wedding took place in a beautiful garden on a terrace in The City, when the sun began to set and the lights of the city came on, Monica's family, parents, uncles, and cousins accompanied them, Judy was exultant, as for Chandler, in addition to Charles and Fred, there were the Montagues and the Capulets, although Grandpa Bing stayed away from Charles the whole time, and three of his uncles also attended, obviously Nora was not invited. Ross and Joey were the Grossmans and Rachel and Phoebe the bridesmaids. Ben and Nina were the flower children, Nina was happy and excited, she had achieved her dream, to be the three of them together forever.
The honeymoon turned out to be beautiful, Paris in August was not very hot, they went all over and Monica tasted all the delicacies of French cuisine.
In September Nina started in Kinder P 3, Chandler took her and Monica picked her up.
One Sunday they went to the park, autumn was beginning, and in the trees the incipient red or yellow leaves could be seen that would soon cover them.
Nina was on the playground, while Monica and Chandler watched her from a bench.
Nina was very sociable and quickly began to play and laugh with three children, the youngest seemed to be her age.
After a while Nina ran to her parents, "Those children are siblings, in kindergarten there are children with siblings, why don't I have siblings?"
Both parents looked at each other and smiled, Cupid now wanted a sibling. "Honey, mom and I will try to find you a brother, we promise" Chandler told her tenderly
"It's a promise" Nina told him and linked her pinky with her dad's
"It's a promise, mom and I always keep it"
The promise had to be kept, so they went to see a specialist, Monica had tests done, and began a hormonal treatment to improve the uterine lining and promote implantation.
Finally, about three months later, Monica had a delay and the test came back positive.
They immediately went to see a doctor, the ultrasound showed that the pregnancy was 6 weeks and the fetus was well implanted. In any case, Monica was advised to rest during the first three months and given her job it would be convenient to request a leave for that period.
Monica and Chandler complied with all the prescribed instructions, a little more than 7 months later Daniel Chandler Bing was born. Nina was happy, her father had kept his promise, at last her little brother had come out of mom's belly, and now she could see him, kiss him, he was beautiful.
The whole gang and the grandparents were happy; Charles immediately flew to meet his second grandson.
Daniel was already 15 days old when one night, when they had managed to get him to sleep, Chandler had Monica in his arms and said to her, "You know, I think we're good at making babies, we have to do it again."
Monica looked at him in surprise, "don't get your hopes up for now."
"I just know that Nina will decide when, she's our angel, remember?" Chandler answered with a tender smile and kissed her beloved's nose."
As time went by, two more babies arrived, a girl who was the light of Nina's eyes, and a boy identical to his father. -
Yes, Nina E. Geller-Bing met them and chose them immediately. She was the architect of this family that, despite some of the problems that life sometimes brings, together they overcame all the difficulties, but most importantly, together they enjoyed all the good times, all thanks to the great love that united them.
