=Authors notes=

I wanted to say sorry for the extended break from the fic, without going into major details I had a death in the family suddenly and it hit me very hard, I am getting back into everyday things again and that includes writing again.

To make up for the break this is a longer chapter around 12k I believe, this will be the final day of the tourney and then the story will push forward in the next chapter and the Starks are still on the way soon.

I saw your hopes for another chapter, I can promise now, I will do my very best not to let this fic get abandoned
Thank you and Please enjoy the chapter

ELIA

The Queen sat and enjoyed the archery and the first day of jousting with her family, it may have only been lesser knights and minor lords but entertaining all the same. Dondarrion even unseated three knights straight, no one of high importance rode today, many having the status to skip the first day. Most of the royal family returned to keep with a few caveats. Dany returned with them, at the request of the queen. And Aegon was made to camp in the tourney grounds as he was jousting on the marrow, once again by the Queen's order. Daenerys wanted to dispute the request but when pressed on where she would stay the young princess caved quietly and came back with them.

"Would you desire a betrothal to Jaehaerys?" She asked her good-sister on the carriage ride back. Daenerys looked surprised at the sudden question, blushing a deep red, it was just them in the ride, Rhaenys choosing to ride back to the keep with her cousins.

"Uhm, I-, it would be a lie if I said no, but that's up to Jaehaerys" she said, her eyes finding any corner of the carriage to look at instead of Elia.

"Not necessarily, you are a princess, if you ask your brother the king, he will go to Jaehaerys about it," she said. Dany smiled and nodded if a bit hesitant.

"I don't want Jae to feel as though he must say yes because his father or I urged him," She said softly, one of her hands trailing up her arm as if she were trying to shear away from the cold as her smile faltered slightly.

"Mayhaps a courtship then? Such as Aegon and Margaery the two of you can take the time and see if something further interests you" the Queen offered instead. Daenerys perked up at that slightly and smiled but it didn't reach her eyes this time.

"Jae was, he told me he was with another woman, that she loved him" Dany told Elia though it did not surprise the queen. It was war and Jaehaerys was young. She knew the odds were good he had found a woman to lay with once or twice when he thought any day may be his last.

"Do you believe he loves her?" Elia asked, Dany glanced around slightly before her eyes settled on the floor in front of her once more and she nodded. They both say in silence for a few moments the princess looking as though she had more in her heart to spill. "When I watched what Rhaegar had done I was confused" Elia started causing her good-sister to look at her. "I had wondered, had I not been enough for him? Had our children not given him the same purpose and joy they gave me, I never sought out a paramour and yet I had to watch him crown another woman as his queen of love and beauty" Elia paused recalling the day deep in her memories as if she were there in the moment still. "Sweet little Rhaenys did not understand why people whispered and stared for 2 whole moons afterwards but…" she trailed off, "I knew ours was not a match of love, but I had come to love him so deeply and I wanted to hate him for it, but when I saw he still loved me and our children so dearly it was difficult, then the fool ran off with Lyanna and let a war boil for a year before he acted. My point is, that sometimes a person can have room in their hearts for multiple people and love them all dearly, Aegon the Conqueror had two wives and scores of valyrians loved multiple people, mayhaps you will find that even if Jaehaerys has another woman in his heart you will always have a place" Elia finished, Dany looked on and smiled warmly at the story being told to her.

"I-, thank you, Elia, may I ask, what would you have done if Lyanna lived?" She asked the Queen, who had to glance away in thought for a few moments.

"I am not sure, I know I would not have thrown her or Jaehaerys from the keep" Elia admitted to both Daenerys and herself. She truly hadn't thought about it before but deep down she always knew the answer. Her brother fathered plenty of bastards, though he never had a wife to sully, not that any Dornish wife would care. Dany let out a sigh of relief at the statement almost like she was in fear I'd have done away with them. "Did you fear me so good-sister?" Elia teased.

"No no, I just wonder had some circumstances gone differently, what things may be like around the keep" she explained. Elia nodded and they returned to a silent trip for a little while longer before one of them spoke again.

"Such as?" Elia asked, curious about her thoughts.

"Uhm, a few things, like if Rhaegar and Cersei had married like her father wanted-"

"Tire of me?" Elia quickly joked again earning a laugh from Dany this time who merely shook her head.

"Or if my father was mayhaps kinder in his later years" Dany said quietly and this time Elia remained quiet with her choosing to reach over and take her hand instead.

"I have learned it often does one little good to worry about what could have been. Your thoughts are better put towards what could be and how to guide it" Elia said quietly.

Dany nodded, "I know, I simply wished I could have met him, or my mother"

"Our mothers were friends you know, had you and I have been close in age I presume I'd have been one of your ladies in waiting"

"But you're the queen, Wouldn't I be one of your ladies?" Dany questioned.

"Well think of it like this my dear, if you had been my age, you'd be the queen and if I had been your age, Cersei Lannister would be queen" Elia explained in a sweet tune but Daenerys couldn't help but feel cold gooseflesh run fresh down her spine, Elia didn't miss the grim look her travel companion quickly tried to hide. "A scary prospect I agree" she laughed lightly earning a chuckle from Dany as well.

"I'm not sure I'd have liked being queen," she said, running a free hand down her forearm. "At least I'm not quite sure I'd have been good at it"

"Now sweet Dany, do you think you would not have liked being queen or being Rhaegar's queen?" Elia asked, causing Daenerys once fair skin a bright red. "If, maybe, Jaehaerys was the heir you'd enjoy being queen a lot more" she teased.

"My queen, we are discussing treason" Dany quickly tried to say only to be lightly hushed by her elder.

"Fear not, I have no intent to supplant my son just simply speaking idly" even if it may give him a wake-up.

"Do you fear not that I may wish to supplant Aegon in place of Jae?" Dany said with a playful smile on her lips.

"Not in the slightest, you just admitted you did not seek the crown, and I already know Jaehaerys has no desire to be king, though, you should know it is often those who desire the throne the least who become the best of monarchs"

"Did you desire to be queen?" Dany asked but before Elia could answer the ride came to a sudden stop followed by a knock on the door.

"My Queen, my Princess we have arrived" she could hear Ser Selmy say.

"I have talked your ear off enough I am sure, come there shall be a long day of festivities on the morrow," Elia said leading Dany from the ride into the cool late evening air of the castle's main courtyard. The ride behind them opened as well and a horde of olive-skinned young women came barreling out all laughing and giggling. Just ahead of them, her husband was handing the reins to his horse off to a stable hand. The girls started towards the keep as the queen walked to her husband, "Did you enjoy your ride, my love?"

"Yes, I need to go riding out in the countryside perhaps, I think I could use time from the stench of the city" He joked offering his arm to her, which she took. They journeyed through the keep to their quarters, they enjoyed a comfortable silence during the trip. Their only stop was as Rhaegar led them past his younger brother's chambers spying Ser Mandon Moore at his post outside of the door.

"Is my brother in there?" He questioned the White Knight who nodded quickly.

"Yes Your Grace"

"Alone?'

"Uh, no, your grace," he said with only a moment of hesitation. Rhaegar looked angry for a second and as though he was going to barge in and make a fuse to Viserys before he could Elia tightened her grip around her husband's bicep.

"Let him rest my love, he is riding in the morning, scold him after the jousting tomorrow if you must." She reasoned, Rhaegar sighed and nodded in agreement.

"Fine" he begrudged and they were off to their chambers for the night. She took her seat at her vanity and began the process of readying herself for bed. Pulling the pins and braids from her hair as well as the jewellery and silks she wrapped herself in. Soon it all found its way to various spots and jewelry boxes. She glanced at her husband's reflection, who was also silently undressing, and Dany's question came back to the forefront of her mind.

"Do you think I am a good queen?" She asked quietly, her eyes snapped back to herself before he could turn to look at her. She never truly wanted to be queen, she was born a princess so marrying Rhaegar hadn't changed much for her but when he ascended the throne she went with him.

"Of course you are, I could think of none better" he spoke and she felt a pang in her chest when the words left his lips.

"But not the one you would have chosen for yourself," she said, unable to stop herself from feeling jealous of a Ghost. Rhaegar said nothing instead crossing the room and kneeling behind her, he wrapped his arms around her midsection and leaned his head into the crook of her neck.

"Is something the matter, my love?" He asked her softly.

"No, sorry I just…" she had no real explanation for her sudden acts. "Is everything set with the Tyrells?" She asked instead.

"Mhm, I'll make the announcement at the feast tomorrow night," He told her, choosing not to press his wife on her hidden feelings in the moment, something she was grateful for. "I hope Jaehaerys does not think I am pushing him from the spotlight"

"He won't my love, he won't"

RHAENYS

The princess was thankful her father didn't require they break their fast at the tourney grounds again, she sat at the dining table with a book in her lap and a small plate of fried ham and porridge. She sat alone with her usual breakfast companion currently down at the tourney grounds, Arys had asked for the morning to see Arianne which Rhaenys allowed. She turned the page on the book as she wondered where her aunt may be hidden away, the door opened and Rhaenys was soon greeted by the smile of her tired mother.

"I am not sure if bookkeepers will thank you for the stains on the histories, Rhae," her mother teased. Rhaenys rolled her eyes but smiled all the same, her mother gave her a light kiss on the top of the head before taking a seat alongside her. "Where is Ser Arys?" Her mother questioned and the princess choked on her food for a brief second.

"He, I gave him the night off he must still be abed" Rhaenys tried to think quickly.

"I've never known Ser Oakheart to sleep this far into the day," She said again as she served herself some food. "Mayhaps I should see if your cousins have any idea" The mere words set Rhaenys to panic, surely she must know.

"M-mother…" Rhaenys said quietly.

"Your father does not know, but you must inform him to not get so foolish again" She warned.

"But, why? Why not tell Father, Arys is breaking his oath"

"Because there are worse men than Ser Arys who could serve on our kingsguard," She said quietly. "At the least, he is a loyal man and so long as he does not do this again, a faithful one" her mother finished explaining. "Now are you going to tell me why Aegon seemed to scare you so yesterday?" Rhaenys was stunned again for a moment but she shouldn't have been surprised her mother noticed.

"It's… he hurt me when I confronted him about what he tried on Jae" She admitted to her mother who scowled once the information was out. "Please, don't do anything about it, I don't desire any further attention from him on the matter" Elia watched her carefully for a moment, studying her face closely before sitting back in her seat and taking her first bite from a piece of ham.

"I don't like the idea of leaving my son to harm my daughter to his whims," she said, Rhaenys nodded in understanding.

"Please Mother, I get the feeling that it makes solve itself today" she pleaded and Elia hesitantly nodded.

"Will you offer any knights your favour today?" The Queen asked.

"No, not likely," she thought about it, there was no one she felt she was able to give it to, the obvious choice was Jae but she knew Dany would be giving him hers and she didn't want to cause unwanted conflict between her and her aunt next. She had her fair share of lords and their heirs hoping to get some dragon's blood for their descendants from her but she was no closer to a betrothal with anyone than Viserys was to one with her.

She and her mother continued eating quietly before they were joined by Dany and Rhaegar. The group of them were soon on their way to the carriages and they were heading to the tourney grounds for one final time. Her father seemed troubled by something, he took a seat and Elia immediately leaned over to rest her head on his shoulder. She knew her parents hadn't married for love but it made her happy to see it could grow in all sorts of situations.

Dany sat quietly as she checked her handy work on the small piece of cloth in her hands. Rhaenys couldn't quite make it out from across the carriage and she had no intention to lean to see.

"That for Jae?" Elia asked, Dany blushed slightly and nodded.

"I hope he likes it," Daenerys said.

"I'm sure he will, maybe the two of you should spend more time together" Rhaegar suggested and Rhaenys wasn't sure it was possible, Dany nodded at the suggestion. Rhaenys felt envious when the plans were laid for them to begin a courtship of sorts but she had no place to speak up. It is only lust that fills me, it will pass. She had to reason to herself, it had to be natural, he had grown handsome and they were Valyrian and she never saw him directly as a brother like she did Aegon. Now all she wished she could see him as was her dear baby brother, instead he plagues her thoughts.

As they rode Rhaegar and Dany spoke about her courtship to Jae and how she wanted no pressure to weigh on him over the matter. They continued making idle chatter about the feast and some personal matters between the two of them, Rhaenys wasn't paying full attention until her father acted, unusual.

"I would love to get to travel again, it has been years since I left the crownlands," Daenerys mentioned.

"I'm sure we can try to work something, maybe the Reach, or in the coming year Jae could take you north" Rhaegar offered, his sister seemed to like the ideas but had one of her own.

"Well, I was hoping that you'd consider letting us travel across the narrow sea, to Braavos or Pentos maybe" She asked and the King went pale.

"No," he said quickly, not seeming to give it more than a few seconds' thought. Dany's expression fell and even Elia seemed to wince at her husband's harsh tone but did not disagree.

"Oh, I, well maybe further south like Ty-"

"You're not going east Daenerys," Rhaegar told her. It was moments like these Dany felt more like his daughter than his sister and Rhaenys could understand. He and Elia had raised her alongside their children, they were the only real mother and father she knew. She understood her father's protectiveness over Dany but surely there had to be more to the issue than the dangers of Essos.

Daenerys let the matter be and didn't speak again the rest of the ride choosing to idly pick at any loose stitch work on the favour she made. No one spoke for the rest of the ride, Rhaenys was more than happy to be the first one out of the ride and into the buzz of the tourney grounds.

QUENTYN

Quentyn donned his armour and had a simple helmet tucked under his arm as he and his friend Ser Willem Wells made their way to the lists. It was close to noon and the grounds were a buzz one final time as many tents were being broken down and packed up. He was on his way to mount his horse and ride on the final day of the joust. Thirty-two knights made up the final lists, the prize was two thousand gold dragons and the right to name any woman present the queen of love and beauty. There hadn't been a grand tourney in Kings Landing in some time so everyone was itching for the prizes, both. Naming a woman the queen would be one large step towards securing her betrothal.

"COUSIN!" He could tell Aegon's voice even before he stopped and looked back. He saw the crowned prince who looked uncomfortable in his sheer black armour with a three-headed dragon emblem pressed into the chest, he carried a helmet of the same colour with a ruby red band around the crown of the headpiece. Aegon looked terrible, Quentyn had the foresight to only drink water last night in preparation for the event but Aegon lacked the same thought process. Quentyn and Ser Wells waited for the prince to catch up with them before they all continued together, his cousin in the middle of them. "Here's hoping one of us gets the chance to ride against the bastard," he said with a sneer. The knights would be pulled at random and given the chance to face whomever they wanted with the first right going to the Prince of honor Jaehaerys.

Quentyn elected to stay quiet, it had become common knowledge amongst the royal family and extended members that Aegon had made an attempt on Jaehaerys. Aegon began to go on about the feast and high hopes he had for it, he soon grew quiet however as they neared the stables and saw the ladies Margaery and Myrcella. They had very different reactions when their eyes laid on the men, the rose smiled wide and the lioness had a nervous grimace. All the same, they met in the middle and Marg spoke first.

"My prince, I wished to give you my favour for the joust," she said, presenting him with a green silk handkerchief with a golden rose neatly stitched in the centre. Flowery patterns lined the edges, she stepped forward tied it around his forearm and leaned forward kissing him on the cheek. Myrcella stepped forward as well but bore no gift instead her nervous look.

"I must apologize Ser, I will be escorted by Prince Jaehaerys instead this evening," she said quietly, her eyes averting his. Both Aegon and Margaery looked her way in shock. Quentyn's eyebrows came together in a tight knot in confusion at the statement but Aegon spoke before he had the chance.

"You promised the eve to Quentyn" Aegon started before she quickly defended herself.

"I never promised, you made the plans and I didn't get the chance to refuse them," she looked at the prince, her green eyes flitted back to him. "Please Ser, do not make it a worse matter" she pleaded to the young Martell who only grit his jaw and pushed forward past the lady without any words initially.

"If that's what the lady desires," Quentyn said, slightly annoyed and hurt. He knew he was no great beauty or tempting match being a second son to Arianne, but that didn't make it any easy to swallow the fact that many women would pass over him if given the option. Quentyn's scowl did not leave him as he entered the stables and laid eyes on Jaehaerys standing with Loras, Renly, Garlan, and the Hound at the far end of the row. Aegon soon came stalking in behind him, making a fuss before seeing his brother along the way, he hardly noticed his own friends who had approached to see what troubled him.

"Think yourself special bastard?' Aegon called out to him as approached angrily. He stomped through the mud towards the other group and his friends quickly moved to join Aegon as a show of numbers, Quentyn included. Jaehaerys looked confused as he took centre stage with his older brother. "You should fall to your knees and offer Myrcella's hand for the feast to Quentyn," he said with a snicker that was soon echoed by Gerris and Monford.

"You'll have to be more clear Aegon" Jaehaerys spoke plainly, his eyes looking towards Quentyn for only a moment before finding their way back to Aegon's.

"Myrcella was to be escorted by my cousin here, now she seems to be with you" he clarified, causing nearby eyes to wander over to them.

"Ah I see, well I apologize Quentyn, I'm unsure if she was committed when I asked, but I believe it's up to the lady if she who she wished to spend her evening with and unless the lady tells me herself I shall be there for her," He said, this pissed off Aegon more.

"You insolent bastard," Aegon growled, reaching forward and grabbing the top of Jaehaerys' jousting armour and pulling him in close.

"Maybe we should take a moment my princes," Garlan said with his usual smile while trying to put an arm between the two Targaryens.

"You forget yourself, Tyrell, that is the crowned prince he may do as he wishes" Monford was the first to speak up.

"We are to be good-brothers soon, mayhaps you and Loras should decide where your loyalties lie, Ser" Aegon said, letting go and taking a half step back. The Tyrell brothers shared a look but said nothing as we all returned to our steeds and made ready for the crowd which awaited.

DAENERYS

After a brief breakfast and some words of encouragement to her brother Viserys the princess found herself in the royal seating bo. To her right sat her niece, and her niece's cousins Tyene and Arianne in that order and to the left was Myrcella, Myranda, and Margaery. They all sat a row below the king with Ser Jaime and Ser Arys standing on the ends of their row. Directly behind Daenerys sat her brother the King, to his left was Elia and to his right was Jon Connington. The rest of the council made up the row of the likes of Tywin, Mace, Varys, Lucerys Velaryon the master of ships who just returned from Driftmark. More lords and ladies filled the box including the Lord Baelish who found himself sitting in the far corner by Ser Swann.

A horn blower sounded and the knights began to trot out in a beat line, Jaehaerys, Aegon, and Viserys were all donned in pitch-black armour with red accents around the shoulders, sides, down the legs and up the insides, all bore a three-headed dragon on the chest and black helmets. What Aegon had that Jae and Viserys lacked was a ruby band around the forehead. Quentyn wore a bronze yellow armour with a dark orange sun in the centre both front and back of his plate. The backside had the bottom half of a spear sticking out downwards slightly awkwardly and the front pointing upwards was the rest of the spear. Loras and Garlan their silver, green, and gold armours, each of them with their visors open smiling and waving to the crowd. Renly was again in his hulking mass of armour with his yellow and black cloths wrapping him tightly with a stag on the front and a pair of antlers on his helm.

More knights in colourful and extravagant garb lined the lists. The Mountain and Hound, a few Velaryons, Quentyn, his uncle Oberyn, Drinkwater, Dondarrion, a couple of Frey boys she didn't recognize, and many more. The crowd roared to life with cheers and prayers for their favourite riders, those from the same kingdom or allied families. Bets had been taken before the knights arrived and while Dany never partook in such a fool's reward she saw plenty of gamblers, many betting that the mountain or one of the Tyrell boys would take it. Dany didn't need gold to know who would win this event, she had already given him her favour early.

"It's for luck," she said with a small blush as she tied a grey cloth with a red embroidered dragon alongside a white wolf around his shield hand. It had spent the better part of a day working on it.

"Aye, I understand what it's for, I've just never gotten one before," he admitted as he presented his hand to her. She finished and he looked it over for a moment, "Do I give it back after?"

"No silly, you don't give it back," she almost gasped with a small giggle on her lips. "I have another surprise for you later, but you must do well in the joust," she told him, looking up to his grey eyes.

"I will accept no reward for less than first"

"My lords and ladies, on this the final day of games, we shall have our champion, and crown our queen" Her brother gestured to the hornblower not wanting to delay any longer. A harsh melody sounded and a man dressed in Targaryen heraldry with a large wooden box on his front, it had straps around his shoulders a tumbler handle on the left side and an open hold on the right. Before doing anything he held up a flat large wooden disk painted black with a red dragon, he turned it over and it had a J on the back.

"The Prince, Jaehaerys Targaryen will be given the honour to select his first opponent" Jae surged forward and pulled his horse around to pace back and forth before the knights. The crowd called out various names they wanted him to face.

"OBERYN!"

"MONFORD!"

"AEGON!" How I'd love to see that.

He paced and paced until finally settling in front of Quentyn Martell, his lace falling forward until it was pointing towards him. Arianne and Rhaenys shared a look as Myrcella tensed up in her seat nervously, even Rhaegar sat forward. They looked at each other through closed helms for a few moments while they moved to opposing ends of the rail. Their horses riled up as they readied their lances and shields.

The horn sounded and they both broke off as the crowd erupted. Both lances jutted forward as they galloped at high speeds towards each other, both lowered their shields and the lances glanced off of each other's shields. The crowd oooh'd as Jaehaerys' splintered and shattered, Quentyn's survived the blow. They rounded the bend and Jae was thrown another lance which he caught after throwing the old one aside. Myrcella's hand clutched her arm as they sped towards each other again this time Jae angling a high blow by the top of his shield and jamming his lance in the chest of the Martell. His grip either wasn't strong enough or he wasn't ready as he was thrown from his horse. The steed kept running as his rider went in the opposite direction slamming into the ground on his back with a solid thud. He groaned and rolled signifying bruises were likely the worst of his injuries and his family all seemed relieved.

Jae left his helm on but the crowd cheered for their prince all the same. A few personal hands from house Martell rushed out to help their prince to his feet, one running off to go find his horse. Once Quentyn was up he pushed away the additional aid and stormed from the lists. Myrcella finally seemed to relax next to her and even Dany let out a breath she didn't realize she had been holding in. Someone swept away the splintered remains of Jae's lance, while the man with the box stepped up again this time he took hold of the hand on his box and spun it around a few times causing a rattling sound from inside the box then he stuck his hand in the opening and pulled out a yellow disk with a black stag head.

"RENLY BARATHEON!" He rode out and looked at all the riders. Then settled on Monford Velaryon and now more than a few girls looked at each other. Could it a be coincidence it was one of Aegon's friends, Dany didn't gamble, but likely not.

They shot off like cannons from decks, anyone who doubted Renly's abilities was quickly quieted as in one pass he forced his way through Monfords shield and dead center in his plate, throwing him from his ride with ease. Many young maidens of court stood and cheered for the guest of court as he took a victory lap. A Mallister defeated a Frey, a Blackwood defeated a Bracken, and then a Bracken defeated a Blackwood. Then finally Loras was drawn and Margaery clapped loudly for her younger brother as he looked up and down before settling in front of Drinkwater. It was clear now there was no coincidence to this.

They lined up as all before and broke into a fast gallop, Loras' horse seemed more wild than most others and he made a show of not even aiming at Se Velaryon and instead leaning back to dodge the lance earning a loud fanfare from the audience. They came round again and once more he leaned and Monford went wide. The third time around he made no show of it and aimed true as he brushed off Monford's strike. The crowd roared, the young Velaryon was more like a bird than a seahorse as he was unseated.

Viserys was drawn to and got his pick of some poor small Frey lad who looked as though he was recently knighted, even still it took 4 passes for her brother to finish him off. Oberyn and Berric both made it through their round, Aegon got his pick and picked a hedge knight Dany didn't recognize taking him on the first pass. The mountain won with ease and was one of the sixteen knights of the second round. The horses were given a moment's reprieve before the drawing process began again this time Jaehaerys wasn't given any special treatment.

tumble tumble tumble

"PATREK MALLISTER!" He quickly decided upon the Blackwood. The two rode hard against each other bout after bout they broke spear after spear until the Blackwood was finally unseated, none cheered louder than any Bracken present.

tumble tumble tumble

"LORAS TYRELL!" It didn't take him long to select one of Monford's Velaryon cousins. He chose not to make a game of this one as they blew by one another Loras' opponent was sent back with ease.

tumble tumble tumble

"GARLAN TYRELL!" He made of show of eyes to all the knights as the crowd called out to him.

"Suppose I should deal with you before you get the chance to harm my brother" Garlan said with a sneer as his lance fell before Ser Gregor Clegane, he huffed as urged his horse forward and the two took their places. Dany couldn't lie it looked like a good bout, the two largest knights in the listings facing off. Soon they were off and without remorse, the mountain aimed high looking to nail Garlan in the helm. Garlen leaned wide as his lance struck true, it of course wasn't nearly enough as the Mountain shrugged off the blow and they rounded the bend. Garlan fumbled with his grip for a second while they rushed each other, both lances struck true but neither had the force to unseat the rider.

Once more they both caught new weapons and once more they both went flying down the rail at breakneck speed. Garlan went low getting under the shield, and Gregor went high and struck the shoulder. Garlan took the blow rough pulling tight on the reins as he struggled to remain seated, but he stayed upright. On and on this bout went eight times they passed on the lists and eight times they both held firm, on the ninth however something changed. Dany wasn't sure what changed but the Mountain's grip slipped or fatigue set in either way Garlan's hit slammed into the centre of the helm and Clegane couldn't hold. He was unseated with a great rumble as he hit the ground and rolled, the entire stand stood and cheered as Garlan took his victory lap.

tumble tumble tumble

"AEGON TARGARYEN!" Aegon chose a Ser Celtigar but before they rode the two seemed to share a few words that no one was able to hear. They rode and all that had been riled up by the last round were quickly disappointed as the Celtigar put up a poor attempt and was unseated by Aegon on their first pass. All the same, the crowd cheered for him, Margaery even electing to throw him a rose from her seat, something Dany couldn't help but roll her eyes at.

tumble tumble tumble

"BERIC DONDARRION!" The Lightning Lord eyed everyone left in the round, his remaining options were Jaehaerys, Renly, Viserys, Sandor, Oberyn, Hendry Bracken, and Gunthor Hightower. After a moment of consideration, his lance fell on Sandor Clegane, their bout was fast but none could have anticipated why. On their second time around they both went high, Sandor was able to get his shield up to shrug off the hit. But Sandor's lance hit the helm of Dondarrion, as it made contact the lance splintered and Beric was thrown. The cheering quickly died down as everyone realized Beric was screaming in agony clutching at his helm, blood seeped out from underneath and down his chest plate onto the ground he lay on. The king stood and looked to a servant,

"FETCH PYCELLE" He ordered and the young man was off. A few men helped Beric to his feet and it was clear a large splinter had found a spot through his visor and somewhere into his head. There was a lot of blood but he seemed at no risk of falling over so she hoped he would survive. The hound seemed unphased as his opponent was carted off and they readied for the next bout.

tumble tumble tumble

"HENDRY BRACKEN" He didn't spend long picking the Hightower and they were off. This bout did not last long either as Ser Bracken found his mark fast and unseated the Reachman with ease.

tumble tumble tumble

"JAEHAERYS TARGARYEN!" Jae wasted no time selecting his uncle Viserys, leaving the final bout of this round to be Renly facing Oberyn, a match that Stormlanders and Dornishmen would both be cheering loudly for. Rhaegar readjusted in his seat as he watched his brother and son ready, Jae and Viserys broke off fast down the rail, Jaehaerys rode with determination as he leaned into his thrust and found an opening in her brother's form. Striking dead centre of the chest Viserys was thrown down hard, his helmet being sent flying. Dany stood and cheered loudly for her nephew and felt his cheeks warm as she saw his gaze turn her way.

With no decision to be made Oberyn and Renly took their places and both seemed eager to ride. Once gone they both had a clear different plan, Oberyn showing his flexibility in the saddle and Renly looking to show off his strength and endurance. They went round and round, Oberyn broke lance after lance on Renly's shield. But Renly was barely able to make contact with his opponent, the older Martell almost dancing in his seat. However, there are only so many places one can hide in a saddle and eventually his lance found its mark, Renly did not wish to waste this chance he got and really leaned into the hit forcing Oberyn from his seat and sending the Viper to the ground. Tyene threw up her hands in frustration, slumping down in her seat slightly as her father hit the ground.

AEGON

Aegon dismounted and paced back and forth for a moment taking his helmet off, he had survived to the final eight but watched as all his friends had been targeted by those who came to Jaehaerys' aid in the melee. He was sure if he did not get to pick his opponent he would be chosen at the earliest chance. All the knights were given a moment's breath to let their horses get a drink and ready for the final rides, he watched as Jae was crowded by his group of Renly, Loras, and Garlan the four of them laughing about something which further angered Aegon. He stood alone no one left on his side had made it this far, the Hound also stood alone watching as his horse drank. Patrek Mallister and Hendry Bracken were chatting over some matter. He stalked over to the hound and tucked his helmet under his arm.

"How much gold to get you to pick a Tyrell or Baratheon?" He asked. The Hound grunted in response, not bothering to look the prince's way. "Hey I am speak-"

"Piss off Targaryen, or what'll you do? Have me hung cause I won't ride for you?" he angrily challenged as he turned and stared Aegon down with his beastly gaze. The prince grimaced and turned away leaving Clegane to do whatever it was he intended to, Aegon returned to his horse and stared down into the trough of water and for the first time in a long time, felt a sense of dread and fear fill him as all he could do was sit and wait.

Soon they were all called out to line up once more in display for the audience, Aegon's eyes found Margaery in the royal box dressed in a long flowing green and white dress with gold accents and embroidery. She truly was beautiful but he and her had little more in common than their attractiveness. He found she was a fan of reading and riding, she liked to sew, pray, and even hawking a truly boring pass time. He understood why Dany was one of her close friends, she was also incredibly dull, but he didn't need Margaery to interest him to marry her.

tumble tumble tumble

"HENDRY BRACKEN!" He waved to the crowd and Aegon felt relief when his lance fell before Loras, challenging the Knight of Flower. They lined up and set off down the track at each other, Loras looking to show off again made a game of twisting away from Ser Bracken's strike. They came back around and once more Loras looked to dodge but Hendry saw through his game, he found a sweet spot and his lance made a glancing blow along the shoulder. This pushed Loras half out of his seat and he gripped hard the reins fighting to pull himself back into it. He couldn't quite do it though, as his horse went around the bend the force from the turn finished throwing Loras from his seat causing Margaery to turn and wince as her brother soared and Aegon to feel a further wave of relief.

tumble tumble tumble

"AEGON TARGARYEN!" A sudden weight lifted itself from his shoulders, his choice was easy as his lance fell before Patrek Mallister. The other knights quickly pulled away leaving them, Mallister also looked to leave but Aegon quickly spoke to him.

"A bag full of gold and the prince's favour to lose" He said quickly before pulling away and taking his place, the same offer he made to Celtigar. The horn sounded and Aegon urged his ride forward as hard as he could, the prince had long since felt fatigue in his legs and groin having not ridden this hard in years. He tried to steady his aim and the two of them came flying at each other at violent speeds. Aegon feinted low before quickly bringing his lance backup hitting the edge of the shield not quite hard enough to push Patrek back but he only made a half-hearted attempt. Is he considering it?

Aegon decided his lance was in decided enough condition so he kept it while rounding the bend. Once more the prince took aim and looked towards the inside of his shield arm, but it would seem Patrek decided to accept his offer as he didn't bother raising his lance and accept Aegon's blow. Patrek was sent from his horse but seemed to take the fall well and was on his feet fast. Aegon looked up to see Margaery and his mother both cheering for him.

tumble tumble tumble

"GARLAN TYRELL!" Garlan did his little spin and show for the crowd before choosing Sandor. Could have gotten paid for this dog. Sandor and Garlan fought hard both going lance for lance, discarded handles and wooden splinters soon filled the yard as neither wanted to budge. Finally, on the tenth turn, Garlan found his opening and sent a swearing Sandor from his seat and Aegon too was swearing under his breath that Garlan had made the final four.

Jaehaerys and Renly lined up and sent off against each other, Aegon had worried that Renly would throw the bout to Jae but it seemed as though they both would be attempting to win. On their first pass, the prince was unable to aim as he was mostly attempting to dodge the larger man's thrust. Aegon quietly hoped Renly could finish off his brother for him, the second pass was a trade of lances as splinters filled the air like ash from a campfire. This time around Jae aimed high getting Renly in the helm forcing him awkwardly off balance. Renly went backwards until his back hit the rail which made an irritating grinding noise as he was dragged along it by his horse, he pulled and fought to get back upright but couldn't do it in time as he reached the end of the rail. No longer supported he fell the rest of the way out of his saddle and hit the ground.

"OUR FOUR REMAINING RIDERS, SER HENDRY BRACKEN, PRINCE AEGON TARGARYEN, SER GARLAN TYRELL, AND PRINCE JAEHAERYS TARGARYEN" Please gods draw me, let me pick the Bracken fellow.

tumble tumble tumble

"GARLAN TYRELL!" Garlan spent no time picking Hendry, leaving the brothers to face each other in the second match. Aegon turned to look at his brother only to find him already looking in his direction. This is what you wanted, isn't it bastard? Hendry was a good rider but Garlan was the better jouster by a long shot. It took just two turns but Garlan had his opponent unseated quickly and soon Aegon found himself sitting against Jaehaerys with the whole of the tourney cheering one name or the other.

The horn sounded and we both shot off, Aegon didn't care if he lost to Garlan in the end, so long as he won this bout. Jaehaerys aimed low and Aegon aimed high, Jae's lance shattered off his brother's shield whilst Aegon failed to make contact. It was fine in Aegon's mind he didn't need a new one, their second time around they swapped, Aegon kept his aim down the middle and Jaehaerys aimed high. Aegon was no talent in the saddle and couldn't find the wiggle room to dodge the blow, nor could he find the grip to keep his seat as he felt a ringing ping slam into the top of his chest and ripped him from his ride. He felt weightless for a few brief seconds, his eyes staring up at the clear blue sky through his open visor.

Then a new pain filled him as his back slammed into the ground and all the air in his lungs vacated him instantly. He gasped, then groaned and tried to roll onto his side, the ringing began to die down and he could hear the cheers and applause from the crowd, for Jaehaerys.

JAEHAERYS

Jae watched his brother leave with whatever pride he still had left on the day. Jaehaerys had just earned a place in the final bout against none other than the giant Garlan, who had proven to be a good ally over the last few days. What tasted sweeter than that however was getting to look back and see his brother being sent flying from his horse.

"I want the rest of you to handle their friends, but Viserys and Aegon are mine," Jae instructed Loras, Garlan, and Renly who all nodded in understanding.

"Unseat them both and Aegon won't take this lying down my Prince" Renly warned.

"So be it then, I'm done running from him"

Jaehaerys didn't concoct in revenge for the melee though many would see it that way he was sure. He wanted to punish their brother for hurting Rhaenys, he wanted his brother to know some actions not even a prince could do freely. Jaehaerys led his ride to the trough to let him drink and get ready for the final ride, he petted the mane as the steed drank. He knew his mother loved to ride, they said she was half-horse herself at times.

"I am honoured to share the field with you" Garlan boomed while bringing his hand hard on the back of Jae's chest piece. He hadn't heard the larger man approach and was slightly caught off guard, his helmet was off and he smiled down to Jae brightly.

"The honour goes to me Ser, you are truly a talent with the blade and lance" Jaehaerys praised, earning a deep-bellied laugh from Garlan.

"Worry not my prince I have the feeling my skills will come up nigh compared to you, I'll just be sure to give them a good show first," He said with a wink. Jae wanted to question it but he heard the horns blowing and a drum beat started. "Sounds as though they await us my Prince" he finished while putting his helm back on. Garlan and Jae mounted their rides and returned to the adoring crowds. Most of the defeated riders now joined the stands, Jaehaerys couldn't spot Aegon while he moved to his place.

"THE FINAL BOUT, THE WHITE WOLF, JAEHAERYS TARGARYEN VERSUS SER GARLAN THE GALLANT" The crowd loved it even if the titles made Jae roll his eyes. Their horses riled and Jae readied the grip on his lance, then like a blur they were off. Jae braced for the hit while trying to look for his opening, he never saw it on the first pass opting to smash his lance into Garlan's shield. He felt a similar impact as a mist of wooden fragments flew up into a few from his shield. The stands roared and Jaehaerys sent his lance flying by the time he reached the end of the rail and barely caught the second one.

They came back again and Jae again looked for whatever gap there was in his opponent's riding form. Again he saw no chance and settled for a glancing blow wherever he could land it, Garlan's lance forced Jae to the back of his saddle. They came back around again for their third charge, this time Garlan's form had slipped slightly, his shield was too low and Jaehaerys took a poke at the gap in his chest. His angle wasn't right and was only able to glance at one of him, Garlan forced up a few inches and caused his reins to snap tight. They rounded again and Jae lowered his lance and saw his opening and this time found the angle. He was sure the hit wouldn't have unseated Garlan, but the Reachman made an extravagant show of flinging himself from his saddle adding to the spectacle. He hit the ground as Jaehaerys rode past him pulling his horse to a stop. He gave me that. Jae's thoughts were cut short as the crowd volume overtook his senses, he looked up in slight awe as hundreds of people rose in celebration. They were on their feet cheering and reaching out to him, some were throwing flowers or favours out to him.

The Prince was handed a lance with a ring of ivy with deep purple lilacs woven into the crown hanging from the end of it. He didn't need to be instructed on what he was expected to do next, many women of court had been calling out for Jaehaerys' to look their way but he had one destination. As he crossed the yard he pulled his helmet off letting his dark curls tumble down, he approached the royal seating box. He carefully laid the crown of lilacs on Dany's lap, their eyes met and for just a moment he couldn't hear the stands echoing around him, nor the people surrounding her.

Just them.

Her fingers curled around the green ring and placed it on her head, it dropped down a couple of inches from where she let go and a giant ear-to-ear smile filled her face. The stands began to clear but Jaehaerys couldn't bring himself to stop looking up at her smile, even as she also had to filter out with her friends he watched her.

"The carriages" she called out to him and pointed in the direction they would be heading to get there and Jaehaerys nodded in understanding. He rode his horse back to the stables and dismounted, handing the reins off to a stable hand, it was a slow trot back to his tent. It did not help he was extremely sore and receiving congratulations and praise from everyone who passed him. All stopped to give words to their Prince, Jae was able to push his way through however and caught sight of his sworn protector standing outside his tent alongside Tyrion and a third boy who stood just below Jaime's shoulder. He was skinny with thin straight dark hair, he looked nervous, as though he did not belong with the Lannisters. Jaehaerys arrived and Tyrion, who was clearly drunk now that Jae was close enough to tell, made a show of clearing his throat.

"My prince, well fought today," Tyrion said, Jae nodded in acknowledgement and he glanced at Jaime hoping one of them would name the mystery boy.

"You rode well, shield form could use work though" Jaime japed instead cracking a small smirk.

"I'll be sure to work on that next time I'm camping in the frost fangs, who's this then?" Jaehaerys went out and asked his eyes falling on the poor boy who almost seemed to shrink under his gaze.

"Ah yes, well, a knight, prince, war hero, and now tourney champion, a man such as yourself needs a squire" Tyrion explained like he was trying to sell him a scented oil in flea bottom.

"A squire? I don't think…" Jae trailed off looking the boy over again. He seemed far too skinny to be a swordsman and too demure as well.

"You weren't much bigger than he was about this age," Jaime said.

"I was fighting north of the wall by his age" Jaehaerys countered scowling up at his old mentor.

"C'mon Jae, nothing tests your skills more than educating, a squire would do you some good, and it's something I know Aegon would lack the patience for" He reasoned, Jae looked at the lad.

"What's your name?"

"Podrick Payne, my Prince," he said quietly.

"Can you fight Podrick?" Jae asked, the boy hesitated for a moment.

"Uh, yes, my Prince, I was taught some of the blade by my cousin Cedric"

"With the Payne army forming they have no want to bring him to any front lines" Tyrion slurred, Jaime's eyes went wide and his gaze whipped down to the Imp which Jae quickly followed.

"Why… is the Payne army forming?" Jaehaerys asked. Tyrion seemed to realize he overshared and looked to his brother who let out an aggravated sigh and quickly motioned for them all to join him in Jae's tent.

"Look, I am only going to say this to prevent you from reacting poorly, these are the king's secrets Jae" Jaime emphasized, the young prince carefully nodded for a moment.

"There is, trouble stirring and the King is worried-"

"Amongst the banners?" Jae cut him off to ask.

"East, across the narrow sea, there may be a war on the horizon and my father wants to be ready ahead of time, no one knows Jae, Rhaegar doesn't want to whip up a frenzy yet, you remember when the greyjoys rebelled?" Jaehaerys could remember those days still, even if they weren't under threat the streets were different. People began hoarding food and fights broke out due to lack of guards and soldiers in the capital to upkeep the peace.

"So what, we wait for some hidden enemy to strike? And if the Westerlands are mobilizing, how long does he expect to keep it a secret?" Jae asked.

"Let the small council and his Grace plot the war Jae, and If something does arise it will taste the might of House Targaryen" he reassured, placing a hand on Jaehaerys' shoulder. "Now help us keep the peace please Jae, play the part of the victorious Prince, accept your squire, go and dance at the feast tonight and keep everyone's minds at ease" Jae hated that part of him agreed. He believed the truth was important but the panic could cause issues, so he nodded.

"Podrick, four days from now, we begin training" he said and the boy smiled slightly.

"Thank you, my prince"

"If we are going to be friends, please just call me Jaehaerys in private" Jae asked and Podrick nodded. Jaehaerys, with some help from his new squire, made short work of stripping from his armour and getting his belongings packed away. Jaehaerys sent for the servants to ensure his belongings made their way back to the keep and soon the group of them were heading back to the castle.

It was beginning to roll into the evening as Jaehaerys made it back to his room to bathe. He took a moment to sit and soak in the scalding water for a little while letting his muscles sing in relief before scrubbing the day's work from his skin. He dressed in simple attire, his red and black doublet, dark pants, and boots. He strapped Longclaw to his hip and called Ghost to his side as he made his way from his chambers to Myrcella's his protector quickly falling in line with his steps. The halls were filled with guests making their way to or from some destination with haste, many trying to find good seating at the feast hall.

He reached Myrcella's door, giving it a light tap with the back of his knuckles. There was some movement from inside before the door came open, she wore a long crimson-red column dress with a golden sash around the waist. She had a golden necklace with a large green stone the same shade as her eyes, rings scattered about her fingers and a pair of earrings all of which matched the Lannister's gold. She smiled at the two men before linking arms with Jaehaerys as he presented it.

"You look beautiful my Lady"

"And you, my Prince, how did you enjoy the joust uncle?" She asked looking back over the shoulder at Jaime.

"Great, especially watching my prized student actually succeed in front of the court" Jaime said, poking fun at his loss in the melee. They arrived at the hall outside of the feast where the entire royal family was lined up in wait with their white knights alongside them. Jaehaerys and Myrcella took their places amongst the line before the horns blew and all inside the hall stood as they were announced in.

"His Grace, the King Rhaegar Targaryen, the first of his name, king of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the seven kingdoms and protector of the realm and his wife and Queen Elia Martell" The King and Queen crossed down the centre of the hall arm in arm with her head resting on his shoulder, they reached the high table and to their seats in the centre. A great number of lords and ladies filled the room, each member of the small council and their families sat nearest to the high table, as well as a dedicated table for the Queen's brother and all her nieces and nephews.

"Aegon Targaryen, the Prince of Dragonstone and heir to the Iron Throne escorting the lady Margaery Tyrell" Aegon and Margaery walked arm in arm while staring lovingly at each other, Aegon led her to the table her family sat at and they all watched on as he returned her safely to them, Aegon took his seat to the right of his mother.

"The Prince Jaehaerys Targaryen, the heir to Dragonstone, escorting the lady Myrcella Lannister" Jae and Myr entered the hall and he received a few final praises much to Aegon's chagrin, Jae joined the table a couple of chairs to the left of his father leaving Rhaenys' seat open.

"The Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, and her escort Trystane Martell" The two cousins shared a couple of words and giggles as Tystane led her to the high table and she took her spot between her father and Jaehaerys.

"The Prince Viserys Targaryen, escorting the Princess Arianne Martell, heiress to Dorne" The two almost looked to be going through the steps of formality as he led her to the open seat next to Trystane, he took his spot on the far side of Aegon at the end of the table.

"And The Princess Daenerys Targaryen and her escort Ser Joffrey Lannister" Dany finally joined them all sitting on the other side of Jae. She was in a new dress, this one a deep black and a silky material that Jaehaerys wanted to run his hand down, she still wore the crown of lilacs he gave her, as she sat and Joffrey found his seat and all else joined him in sitting, then Rhaegar rose.

"I am sure you all have grown tiresome of hearing my weary voice so I will not prevent you from enjoying this bountiful feast, it is with pride I looked on and watched my son take victory today, it is with that same pride I announce the betrothal between my son Aegon and Margaery Tyrell, to unite our house and the realm for centuries to come" he said though the hall was clapping before he was done, none louder than the Tyrells celebrating their victory. Rhaegar took his seat and a band started to play a cheerful upbeat melody while they all began to dine and chat.

Jaehaerys partook in the various dishes that lined the table, smoked pork and drums of chicken sat within reach, further down the table sat different cuts of chicken and slivers of fish and breads, vegetables filled smaller servings dishes held veggies and Jaehaerys was more than starved after the day he had.

"How does it look?" Dany asked, readjusting the crown slightly.

"Perfect," He told her without a second's hesitation, she blushed slightly. "Though I did fight hard for that crown, and I believe I was promised a reward" he teased and her blush intensified.

"Later," she said in a hushed tone, her lips turning up slightly.

"What are you two whispering about?" Rhaenys asked, looking over towards the pair. Suddenly Daenerys looked as though she had an idea.

"I need your help tonight Rhae" Dany said quickly earning a confused glance from her niece. Jaehaerys was also confused looking between the two girls on either side of him.

"Help with?" Rhaenys asked, Dany glanced at Jae for a moment before rising from her seat and walking around him and cupping her hands around Rhae's ear. She whispered something to the older princess, Rhaenys' seemed surprised for a moment before looking back to Dany. "Are you sure?" She asked and her aunt nodded. Rhaenys looked back to Jae for a moment before glancing back at Daenerys and agreeing.

"Am I going to know what these plans are?" Jaehaerys asked as Dany took her seat again.

"Patience my wolf," Dany teased. "Tonight you will see," she added. Soon the band changed songs and a few people rose to begin dancing. Garlan and his wife took part, and before long Aegon was on his feet seeking out Margaery to dance with. Loras and Renly took turns about the room with various young maidens of court. Jaehaerys intended to stay seated during the event, but he remembered Jaime's words about helping keep the realm at ease. So he attempted to offer a dance to Dany. "You should dance with escort first, it's manners," she said instead, gesturing to Myrcella who was still seated. Jaehaerys nodded and went to offer her instead, which she accepted with a smile.

"I was worried you did not dance my prince" she teased as they went through the motions, he hadn't danced in years and was sure he looked a fool.

"I do not, but facing Ser Garlan was a far scarier prospect," Jaehaerys thought about those finals again, something still didn't sit well with him about the whole ordeal.

"Mayhaps I should wait till you face a terrifying opponent to dance with you again" she giggled, at the thought of such a thing he couldn't help but think of whatever threat Jaime mentioned.

"Mayhaps I should just take up dancing once more, I don't think my body would survive the cost to dance with you again"

"You wish to dance with me again?" She asked gazing up at him with wide eyes.

"I think I would enjoy such a prospect" Myrcella's face lit up and Jae couldn't stop the smile that lined his lips as well.

"Well, I shall have to show you it will be worth the dedication," she said as they moved through the sea of bodies.

They continued to dance for a bit before another lordling came seeking a turn with the lioness. Jaehaerys found Garlan along the side of the room, he wasted little time in approaching him. The large Tyrell had a half-full goblet in his cup, he smiled as Jae neared him.

"My prince, quite a feast aye? Glad you returned" he said. They were as secluded as one could be in a packed noisy room so Jaehaerys saw no point not to ask.

"The joust today, you threw it" Jaehaerys accused, and to Garlan's credit he simply raised his hands in defeat.

"You caught me, none of them seem any the wiser, hm?" He asked and Jae frowned.

"But why?"

"Because it's just a joust, my prince, just some silly tourney and in a few moons none will be talking about it, why not let you bask in the glory? And if I earn a new friend even better" Garlan explained. Jaehaerys couldn't find a reason to disagree, Garlan did not need the gold or the honour, outside of naming his wife the queen of love and beauty he had little to fight for. "Try not to worry about it," He told Jae as his hand came down hard on his shoulder. Jaehaerys watched as the Gallant knight stepped away leaving the prince on his own, it seems I still have much more to learn about the games of court.

Jaehaerys looked back at the high table but did not see Dany or Rhae. He scanned the room slowly and after not seeing them again he scanned it a second time much more carefully. Once he was sure they were not here he moved to return to the table to retrieve Ghost when a surprised face greeted him, Tyene Sand.

"I hope you were not done dancing, my Prince," she asked, taking a close stance. She smelled of exotic perfumes that he couldn't guess the origins of, her dress was low cut and her seven-pointed star hung between her bosom. She pretended to pout welling her eyes and rolling her bottom lip slightly.

"Well, no, I could partake in one more," he said, she grinned and her hand found his, her fingers interlaced with his as she dragged him back to the centre of the room to move with her.

"I take it we will not be adding dancer to your long list of talents my prince?" She joked, Jaehaerys chuckled and nodded his head.

"Dancing is no skill of mine, it is no lie"

"Your wife should dread your wedding then" they both shared a small laugh. "Mayhaps I could teach you more, about dancing in all forms" she offered with a teasing look up at him. He would be lying if he said she was not beautiful, but even the thought of her drug Ygritte up.

"You sworn some vows, I want you to break them"

Her voice rang in his head clear as day, his throat went dry and his palms sheened with sweat. "Excuse me my lady" he said quickly before pulling away from her and heading to the door with haste. This hall is too crowded, too many fucking people. Jaehaerys finally couldn't take it and began to push his way through people causing a bit of a sight. The Prince left the hall and finally felt relief and breathed again. He wasn't sure when or how Ghost got to him but the wolf was by his side as always without a sound. Jaehaerys stood there for a second and Jaime came out as well.

"Are you?"

"I'm fine, just memories" He admitted and Jaime nodded. That was all the words they needed on the matter, Jaime knew how Jae must feel but outside of a few words of comfort Jaime lacked the tools to help his friend from some depths, this one included. Jaime instead quietly followed Jaehaerys back to his chambers and bid his friend a good night. Jaehaerys began to undress and ready for bed when he heard her.

"jae" his aunt's voice quietly called out from the hidden passageway. He hadn't been the most comfortable knowing there was a hidden tunnel connected to his room but there was little he could do in the matter and at least he knew of its existence thanks to Dany.

"come" Jae returned not as quiet but still at a low volume. Jaehaerys' eyes went slightly wide as he saw his aunt and sister enter the room, both were dressed in thin nightgowns. Rhaenys was far more embarrassed than Dany who approached him first. He couldn't explain it but that feeling most women gave him, the longing for Ygritte, it was painfully absent when he was in their presence and Jae didn't know whether to be happy or sad. It would be easy to be happy, to know his heart was not forever tied to her, but sad that another woman, or women could cause him to stir.

"Are you ready for your reward?" She asked him, Jaehaerys could I lay dryly swallow and nod. "I told you, you had to do well in the joust for this" She walked until she was nearly chest to chest with him. Her arms went up around his neck and crossed over the back drawing him down into a deep kiss pressing their bodies together. Jaehaerys hands naturally settled on her sides, her body felt burning hot under the flimsy cloth. The kiss was intense immediately, not like the one he shared with Rhaenys, their tongues danced in her mouth and he drank down her moans and whimpers. She tasted sweet and her lips felt soft and full against him. The kiss went on like this for minutes before pulled apart and Jaehaerys opened his eyes in confusion, "That's one" she whispered. Suddenly he felt a small hand on his jaw and his head turned to the left slightly and he met the eyes of Rhaenys.

He needed no further instructions, it almost felt as though a beast had awoken as his head fell forward until their lips met in a crushing kiss that left her immediately moaning into his mouth. Just like Dany's, the kiss was heavy and intense, their lips came together over and over and he invited his tongue into her mouth as well fighting with hers for dominance. "one of these, for every knight you outlasted today" How many knights had Jae even outlasted today? The ability to count was slowly slipping away as he kissed Rhaenys. His left arm had pulled away from Daenerys and pulled Rhaenys to him so he had one of them in each arm. Soon it was time to swap again and Jaehaerys wasted no time going from Rhaenys' lips to Daenerys. This time he could feel Rhaenys lips trailing his jaw and neck.

"Lay down with me" he said in a lower tone than he intended to let out and both women put up no fight as they all climbed into his bed, Jaehaerys had enough wits about him that no one would be losing their maidenhood tonight but that didn't mean they couldn't be comfortable. Jaehaerys lay on his back with Daenerys on his right and Rhaenys on his left as they continued to trade kisses for hours into the night. Dany made sure to count all the way to thirty-one, they just didn't stop when the number was reached.

Fatigue did finally set in, the point came when their lips were too sore and necks too strained to continue. Jaehaerys laid back as both women curled up against his side with their heads on his chest. The warmth and comfort were too much and Jae felt sleep drag him under fast, his last thoughts still drifting back to whatever lurks east.
