TO BE ADDRESSED TO GENERAL PACKARD.

I would like to send my utmost formalities to you Mr Packard, and thanks, over the last 11 years we have been able to develop Project Mutagen thanks to you and your help, without you we would have not been able to secure our funding. We, the top scientists of the project, are proud to present you the results of project Mutagen, this is an Attached File below that showcases the results of the Project. I look forward to field results, as we believe we will be ready to begin field tests by the end of this year.

Salutations,

Dr. Serizawa.

Dr, Brody had received quite an extensive e education, even compared to his peers, doing a Full course at Stanford university had taken a lot of money and willpower, luckily, his parents provided a lot of the former, while he had enough of the latter. Brody had decided on a Military course, and luckily his extensive studies in Molecular biology and Evolution would come in handy as, thanks to his educational record, he was approached by Dr Serizawa, onboarded, briefed and eventually became one of the top researchers to the project.

Project Mutagen was simple really, developing an Adaptable biological system to either eliminate or flush out enemy combatants, it was a flexible system and NASA had approached them with the idea of sending it to Mars to do some sort of Recon, but they had turned it down. Any more complexity would delay the project, and cause some questioning of where their funding was going and other stuff that wouldn't be good for him.

The Project had been going fairly well, they managed to make a Biological Mass successfully evolve, adapt, even learn, although they had to put it down because apparently it was too early to know at the time that it was actually going better than they thought, some tweaks to the Biological mutagen had managed to add more biological reactants, some of which could guarantee them success,

Mutagen, in its liquid form, was a Catalyst for Rapid Biological Adaptation, currently, their batch was designed to increase the 'power' of an organism, but in the future would be able to do other things too. It could transform any living organism into whatever the Mutagen deemed fit for that personal creature. It could turn any organism on this modern day earth, and shape it into the ultimate predator.

Anything he'd like.

Suddenly, people began rushing past him. He was in the laboratory, which, conveniently, was also connected to the office space. Dr Serizawa, the head researcher and boss of the project, stood hunched over the computer, his face was dark.

Serizawa, unlike the others, was an aged man. Everyone else here were young geniuses, but him? He had spent years clawing his way to the top, he discovered the first ever Habitable planet around a Sunlike Star, TW Pisces Austrani, but that wasn't enough. Perhaps his great-great grandchildren would see that world, but he wanted to make sure they got to live to that. He would make a difference, here and now, and he ended up proposing project Mutagen in 2014, it took 2 years to secure additional funding, and now, 11 years later, here he stood, the best researchers, the best chance, the greatest team in the world. He saw to it that the project be carried out, and it was ready, completely ready, he was confident in the team that MUTAGEN could be used, by any platoon, to increase the chances of success of their operations.

But as he read Packards response, his brain became clouded as he focused on the words.

TO DR SERIZAWA.

It is of my deepest apologies that I must send this message to you, when we approved Project Mutagen, there were expectations put upon the Team. The Rise of the Eastern powers has been of great concern to the west, and we need weapons that are ready within a Decade. I understand your team has made Progress with Mutagen, and that you believe you are ready. Unfortunately, the Military Branch has received Mutagen, and we believe it would be in our best interest that we discontinue the project.

Our deepest apologies Dr Serizawa, your team will be awarded a Severance package later this month before the project disbands.

From GENERAL PACKARD.

He slowly took off his glasses, he struggled to control his..anger. He looked at his desk, and began to beat it with his hand repeatedly until the pain became too immense, and then he grabbed the lamp, and with all his strength broke it in half before tossing it at a Plant in the corner of the office. He stared at his employees, breathing heavily.

"Its over…."

Mutagen was a much more extensive project than anyone would like to admit. Thousands of people were involved in it. The Production, upkeep of facilities, research, it was, or had been, a well oiled machine. Mutagen had test sites set up in several areas of the planet, and those sites were as follows.

JANJIRA, JAPAN

SAN FRANSICO, CALIFORNIA.

BOCA CHICA, TEXAS.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA

KOMODO ISLAND, INDONESIA

CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO.

BAFFIN ISLAND, CANADA

SVALBARD, NORWAY

QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA.

The reason they had such a large diversity of sites, of course, was because they needed to check how Mutagen performed in diverse environments in the field. Boca Chica and Komodo Island were controversial Picks, both were located near Environmental Reserves, and Boca Chica was an Important SpaceX Launch Site, but they assured both SpaceX, and NASA (Who had ties to SpaceXs Launch Site Through the Artemis Program) that their operations posed no risk to their own. As for International sites, the Military paid them to shut up and let them do business. As it turns out, a part in an important military program and free money are great ways to get people to comply

Of course, when it was all shut down not everyone was happy with this. Some workers did their work less than enthusiastically, and more than often made mistakes. At each site, at least 8 Liters of the nearly thousands present were spilled because some people got frustrated and decided to kick the barrels.

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA.

The Barrel was toppled over, the worker walking away, screaming his rage. A Small, Curious Lizard poked its head out of the small, thin grass and looked at the Cyan liquid spilling out of the bottle. It didn't know it was Mutagen, it was just a Lizard, it had no idea what the concept of it was, or what it was made for. It was thirsty, however, and seeing what looked like water made its brain suddenly commit to a decision to take a little drink.

It waddled over there, quickly reaching the spilling contaminants. The Little guy began to lap at the water, only to stop after a few flicks of its tongue.

Something was off, not just the taste, but everything else. It suddenly let out a squeak before collapsing to the ground, convulsing.

Then the squeaks turned into screams, the mouth, the vocal cords, the entire being began to change, grow.

It was something else now.
