I just checked this story again today...
WHY DOES IT HAVE SO MANY VIEWS?!
Yall, that was not my best work.
Here is a new chapter (that's more than a year late)
ENJOY!
IT'S NOT EDITED BTW!
The feeling of crisp pain that persistently trembled through different types of migraines kept everyone in the infirmary painfully aware of their own failures as Sophie developed a cold sweat. She felt as if shifting needles couldn't breathe beneath her skin, reaching for the sunlight like waning flowers. Reaching, reaching, and reaching, they couldn't break free, no matter how much her mind screamed.
The constant nag of solutions was unending. Sure, have Dex make another ability restrictor. Maybe he could make it less painful? But no, the universe wanted Sophie in a chokehold. They did try to re-strap that metal band across Sophie's temples, but it just didn't work.
It didn't lessen the pain.
It didn't take away the sorrow.
And it didn't help anyone's regrets.
"Sophie?" A man whispered.
"Mss… eleven.." Sophie slurred, tossing her head back and forth sluggishly. "Elennn.." She reached a hand upward just for it to fall back onto her face with a loud slap.
Back to her senses she came, her eyes adjusting to the light, and a strange man staring at her from above. The man– Elwin– snapped his fingers to create a pale yellow orb.
He brushed Sophie's hand off her face and smiled lightly. Worry and care radiated off him, the feelings resting in Sophie's mind.
You have a visitor. Elwin thought, his mentality diving into Sophie's consciousness. His mind projected a familiar boy with blond fluffy hair and a worried smile. It's Keefe.
Keefe. Yeah, he left everyone to go work with his mother. Then, when he developed a new ability, guilt hit him like using a nexus without proper concentration.
It's all my fault. That's not all your fault. It's not for nothing. Keefe's mind had a constant mantra. Of course, he didn't want his consciousness to shatter after everything they've been through. It was never his fault, just his mother's. That sick woman who experimented on her son and expected him to last? Sure, the precautions she left to make sure his mind stayed intact did more harm than good. Maybe that was her…
"She seems to zone out frequently but I've been monitoring her brain patterns and her body seems to be adjusting."
"That's good."
There was a pause.
"Can I see her?"
Another moment of floating silence.
"I don't know, can you?"
There was an awkward chuckle.
"May I see her?"
"Sure. Remember–"
"She can hear and feel me. Trust me, I know."
"Of course, Keefe."
Then, after approximately 763 seconds, her favorite blond walked into frame, attempting to replicate his famous smirk.
Sophie's heart skipped a beat. Out of fear, sadness, and maybe love, Sophie sobbed.
She finally wept.
She finally cried on the one who could hold her close.
The one who without her love, would be a broken mirror, of lost friendship and passion.
Her Keefe was mended.
ANOTHER CHAPTER IS COMING IN LESS THAN A MONTH I SWEARRR!
