No-One But You (The Star Child's Eclipse)
Chapter 52: Mother (Part 2)
…
Let's not get confused about one particular detail in this story… because Clea Strange wasn't pushing her husband away when she told him that she wanted to be "alone."
…
She was in the middle of an extremely important "consultation"… and deep down she just needed to think things through in her own way.
Clea had to process yet another violation, and she had to endure what was currently affecting her mind, body, and soul.
They'd be facing the Scarlet Witch at some point soon, and that meant they needed allies.
Big ones, and the ruler of the Dark Dimension could tell that her husband was going crazy over what was happening.
Regardless of the chaos, Stephen was being kind and very gentle…
Clea could see that he was also doing everything he could to keep their daughter out of it.
Protecting that little "Star Child" was their top priority at all times, so…
It was time for Clea and Stephen to make critical moves to protect Sofia, and ensure her safety…
They planned to do it with everything they had to work within the Dark Dimension, the Realm of Light, planet Earth, and beyond…
A plan was finally agreed upon between them, and now it was time for Stephen and Clea to get things moving
Clea put an end to an unexpected "consultation" to start things off, and she slowly stood up from her vanity in a weakened state.
She powered through what she felt, and Clea made her way out of Agamotto's temple. She saw her husband there on the stone steps, next to their daughter…
…
"My uncle has agreed to set aside our differences in order to correct this situation, but he mentioned two specific conditions."
…
Stephen turned his head in Clea's direction immediately, and the man reeled his focus in from a number of different directions.
Sofia Strange did the same exact thing as her father…
She "pulled" those branches of herself back into her body that was waiting patiently there in the Realm of Light.
Stephen and Sofia's eyes locked onto Clea, and that little "Star Child" listened to her father ask about those certain conditions.
…
"He wants us to strengthen my mother's banishment, and make it an eternal one. Then, he said he wants you to permanently remove your spell of stasis… so we can work on coexisting."
…
Hah.
Stephen Strange absolutely had to laugh at half of what he heard from his dream girl.
Clea was speaking about her mother, Umar, and her uncle… Dormammu, and there was no way in hell they were coexisting.
…
"Strengthening your psycho mother's banishment is no sweat off my back, but I'm not bargaining with Dormammu outside that. If he doesn't fully support you, then it's back to looping around something called Groundhog's Day.."
…
Dormammu was a stupid bastard, but the "former" Sorcerer Supreme wasn't going to pass up on utilizing him against Victor Von Doom and the Scarlet Witch.
Clea gave her husband a very confused look after he spoke, because she didn't understand what Stephen said at the end of his sentence.
Understanding his "Earth talk" didn't really matter in that moment… because Clea started focusing on their adorable little girl.
Sofia looked up at her mother as she walked down the steps.
She knew plans were forming, big plans, and truth be told… Sofia began to feel a little scared.
There was a version of her that always wandered around with her maternal grandfather in the Dark.
His name was Orini, and Sofia was already aware of what he planned to do.
Because of her grandfather, Sofia knew her mother was half of something called a Faltine, and the other half of her bloodline was called the Mhuruuks.
The Mhuruuks were gathering in that moment to confront the Scarlet Witch, because of her grandfather Orini.
You with me on this?
Now, Sofia was learning that the other half of her mother's bloodline was gathering as well.
They were called Faltines, as you know, and…
…
"Sofia, your mother and I will be speaking with the Scarlet Witch and Victor Von Doom very soon, so we're going to take you to a place that's away from all of this… and safe."
…
No fooling around now, young lady.
Stephen stood up from where he was sitting, and Sofia paid special attention to the serious look that he had on his face.
They were always very honest with her, so Sofia understood exactly what her parents planned to do.
The thought of them separating was about to make her cry, so the little girl brought her hands up and she covered both of her eyes…
