Prologue-
Wind rushed past Stone's face as he flew from the forest, now glowing orange from the fire burning it down. In his talons he held an egg. It was close to hatching. Stone felt movement and saw the dark, tiny shadow of the dragonet inside moving. Don't worry, little one, I won't let anyone hurt you, my little dragonet, not after what they did to my Frost. He thought, mostly to himself but also to the egg. The three moons were all nearly full. Tomorrow would be the first Brightest Night in over 100 years, and his little Ice-Night would hatch under those three full moons.
Stone knew he would miss his home, burned down by the hateful SkyWings and their flamescale dragons. He knew he would never be able to forgive them, the next generation of SkyWings maybe, but this generation, not a chance. He couldn't dwell on this though, he had to find a spot to hide and a clearing for his dragonet to hatch in the moonlight. He flew for what felt like days, but in reality it had only been two hours. He could see orange on the horizon as the sun began to rise. He glided down gracefully when he found a small clearing in a different forest.
Stone found a hill and used his secret ability to make a hole big enough to lay comfortably and fit his egg safely inside with him. He drifted off to sleep, exhausted from his escape last night. By the time he woke back up the sun was beginning to set. He checked on his egg and saw how bright it was. He waited another two hours before setting out for the clearing. He grabbed the egg and found the clearing. The tree moons lit up the clearing brightly.
The moons were at their high point when the egg slowly faded to a shimmery white. Cracks appeared along the edge and a dragonet toppled out of the egg. She was mainly black, but her black scales began to fade to a silver-white halfway down her legs. Her wings also faded to the same silvery-white. She had silver tear-drop scales by her eyes that sparkled in the moonlight. "Dada?" She squirmed over to Stone. "Hello, Dawn, I won't let you get hurt, I will protect you." he vowed to himself and to his new daughter, whom he would never leave alone.
