Of all the ways Azula expected this exchange to go, she never thought it would end like⦠this.
It should have been simple. Exchange Mai's little brother for King Bumi (which of course she wasn't going to allow that to happen, who in their right mind would trade a baby for a king?). Azula said as much to Mai, and she had agreed. The deal was about to be called off when the girl from the other group interrupted.
"Wait! Don't you want your brother back? Don't you care about him?"
Azula had to hold back a laugh. This girl was sorely mistaken if she really thought that Mai gave a damn about her brother.
"Like I just got finished saying to Mai, trading a 2 year old baby for a king just isn't a fair trade. Surely you understand. A baby can never be more important than a king."
The boy with the staff spoke next "But that isn't right! How would you like it if you were in his place and someone said that about you?"
Why were these people so insistent on changing her mind? She made herself perfectly clear.
"I hate to break it to you, but I'm a princess. Which means I'm automatically important. And besides, I'd never allow myself to-"
"Wait, you're a princess? That means you're Zuko's sister!" said the boy holding Mai's brother.
"Ah, I see you all have meant Zuzu already."
She heard a chuckle, and looked to see the boy holding Tom Tom laughing hysterically.
"Zuzu?! You call him Zuzu?! That's hilarious! Maybe we should call him that the next time we run into him!"
Azula smirked. That would surely piss her brother off. That brought a question to her mind though. Why was her brother after them? They didn't seem important. Weren't they a part of the resistance force? As far as she knew, Zuko and Iroh had never stepped foot in Omashu.
"I have to wonder, why is Zuzu chasing after you three? You don't seem to be important people, so I can't imagine why he would waste his time with you."
"Hey, we are important! We're traveling with the avatar here!"
"SOKKA!"
The boy-Sokka, grimaced "Oops"
The avatar? This was her lucky day.
"So, are we doing this or what? I'm getting bored here. I came along for entertainment, not more boredom."
Azula rolled her eyes. Before she could say anything, however, she heard a voice in her head.
So, you think a child isn't worth exchanging a king for? Fine. Let's see how you like being a child once again, unable to fend for yourself.
She turned around, trying to figure out who said that. That's when Azula noticed something odd. Everything around her had stopped moving. How in the world was this possible?
You also don't seem to be the type who believes in spirits. Oh, this is going to be fun.
Spirits? Some spirit was doing all of this? For what?
Let's see how your Nation fares without its princess. Consider this retribution for attacking Omashu, the home that we created.
A bright light then surrounded Azula. She slowly began to shrink down to the height of a child. Then the light vanished and everything returned to normal. Well, almost normal. Why did everything look so big all of a sudden?
"What happened? Azula, why are you a child?!"
A child? What was Ty Lee talking about-
Azula then remembered the voice that she heard.
No. No, no, no!
"Alright, I take it back," Mai said with a smirk, "I'm no longer bored."
