#Save the tree.

Jessica was at the school's journalism club writing an article, after finishing her work she would start printing it on a huge number of flyers.

Jessica began handing out flyers to all the students at the school, not just the students. Jessica also handed out flyers to teachers and school staff and posted them on every wall and in every locker in the school. She even dropped all the brochures on a balcony in the center of the school so that each student could have a brochure.

After he had done that, he went to a table where we were and would give each of us a brochure.

"Well, I think everyone is finally reading my environmental column." Jessica said with pride in her work, but I notice that we all looked at each other with some nervousness.

"Is there something wrong?" Jessica asked confused, at that moment Barbara would point to the garbage containers. The bins were full of Jessica's brochures which was a huge blow to the girl.

"I'm very sorry Jess, but your environmental column is ... a lost cause." Zatanna said while she was eating a salad.

"There are no lost causes !." Jessica said angrily as she hit the table. "Literally, that's what the title is called." the green lantern girl said as she stood up and went to where the trash cans were.

"It's true, it clearly says it here." I said while showing the brochure.

"At least put this in for recycling, animals!" Jessica yelled as she threw away her brochures to recycle, but she would notice a boy who was making a ball of paper out of Jessica's brochure.

"Do not you dare." Jessica threatened the teenager, however she would notice that the boy would throw the ball of paper but it was not going to the trash, instead he was addressing a girl who was sitting alone.

The boy laughed only to remain silent when Jessica gave him a serious look causing the boy to leave, when he saw the girl who was alone he noticed how other students were throwing paper balls at him without stopping.

"Poor girl, she's eating alone and she has no friends." Jessica said as she kept looking at the girl.

"Poor Jessica, can't you see? Just look at how she dresses, her oversized clothing covers every part of her body, her gaze is always downcast and she always keeps her face hidden all the time." Barbara said as she analyzed every detail of the girl. "It doesn't take a super genius like me to know that Pam doesn't want to have friends." Barbara would finish her explanation still keeping her smile.

"Is she new to metropolis?" I ask curiously.

"She was in school for a while. Everyone knows what Pam is like and her way of being." Kara said as she looked at me.

"I'll prove them wrong, Pam if you want to have friends. You just need to find the one." Jessica said as she smiled determinedly.

"Please Jessica, don't do it." Zatanna said as she looked at the girl.

"Dude, really. Leave her alone. Pam is a lost cause." Kara said as she stared at Jessica.

"There are no lost causes." Jessica said as she walked over to Pam making us all let out a defeated sigh.

"There is no doubt, Jessica is just as stubborn as I am." I said as she had a bead of anime-style sweat running down the back of her neck.

I was about to leave because I would have chemistry class but I would notice that Jessica had left her cell phone so I would take it.

"Will you go talk to Pam too?" Barbara asked as she looked at me.

"I actually have a chemistry class, I'm just going to give Jessica her cell phone." I said as I walked over to where Jessica was.

Pamela isley or Pam, she is a somewhat cold and antisocial girl. At the beginning of her studies in the metropolis, everyone knows her as the strangest and coldest girl in school, no one dared to talk to her, much less speak to someone. If someone knew the real reasons for her, they could understand her better.

Pam would be at her table with a ham and lettuce sandwich, when she smelt the whole wheat bread she threw it away since she found it tasteless, however when she saw the lettuce she felt her heart ache when she saw the vegetables. He slowly took the lettuce and put it on the table while he covered it with a napkin, but. When she noticed the piece of raw ham on the sandwich, she only took a few moments to start eating it like a wild animal.

"Hello." Pam was startled when she heard Jessica speak to her since she didn't expect that.

"Oh, what a nice plant." Jessica said as she looked at Pam's plant.

"His name is Phil, he gets sad when I leave him alone." Pam said as she took the plant from her and pulled it away from Jessica a bit.

"Oh that's very interesting. I have a lot of plants in my house, I have pictures on my cell phone. I'll show them to you." Jessica said while she was looking for her cell phone but I can't find it anywhere.

"Hey Jess, you forgot your cell phone." I said as I approached where she was.

"Oh Benja, thank you." Jessica said as she took her cell phone.

"You must be Pam, right? My name is Benjamin, but tell me Benja." I said as he held out his hand to Pam.

Pam for a moment hesitated to hold my hand, however she felt something that was inside me which caught her curiosity. She hesitated for a few moments until her curiosity got the better of her and she would take my hand to give us a squeeze.

"Well I'll see you later, I have to go to class. See you later." I said while I was leaving the place.

"Bye, Jessica !." I said as she greeted the girl from the cafeteria exit.

"Bye Benja !." Jessica also said goodbye with a smile, however when she was about to continue talking to Pam she noticed that the girl was gone.

Pam was now in the hallways as she approached her locker only to then sit down to talk to her plant.

"Phil, you felt that too. Right?" Pam asked as she looked at her plant.

"I don't know why, but that Benja guy has something inside him that bothers me a little." Pam said as she remembered the feeling when we shook hands with her, only to have her thoughts interrupted by Phil.

"What do you say? Talk to him?" Pam asked as she looked at Phil.

"It's not a bad idea, but maybe he already knows about my reputation here. But we'll have to try." Pam said as she analyzed a bit how to interact with me, however again Phil would talk to her.

"Phil, I already told you I don't need friends." Pam said as she crossed her arms, only to sigh when Phil spoke again. "Fine, fine. I'll try but I don't promise you anything." the girl said as she sighed in defeat.

Chemistry class began, the teacher again divided us into groups of two for the luck of Pam, she and I would be in the same group so it would be a great help for the girl, while I wrote in a notebook the procedure of the formula, Pam would be thinking what to say to me.

"Pam, do you need help with something?" I asked as I looked at the girl, she and I had reached an agreement. She would be in charge of doing the procedure and I would be telling her what she should do.

"Phil, help me. I don't know what to say to him." Pam said as she looked at her plant, it was easy for her to talk to her plants but to talk to someone else. It was somewhat complicated due to her antisocial manner.

Pan heard what Phil said and just hoped this would work.

"Tell me Benja. Do you like plants?" Pam asked as she looked at me.

"Well, I really like them a bit. But I really like flowers, and one tree in particular." he said she as she kept writing but was clearly hearing Pam.

"Really? What tree?" Pam asked curiously following Phil's advice.

"I really like the cherry trees of Japan, when I see them it fills me with tranquility and happiness. They are very beautiful indeed." I said while smiling, not only do I like anime and manga. I also really loved the cultures and nature of other countries in the world.

"Oh that sounds good." Pam said as she showed a small smile that no one noticed, no doubt Phil's advice was paying off.

"Hi Benja, hi Pam !." Pam and I turned to see Jessica approaching where we were with a smile.

"Hi Jessica." I said as she greeted the girl with a smile as well.

"So you two are partners? That's amazing, does it bother you if we work together?". Jessica asked with a huge smile.

"They already assigned partners, shouldn't you be with your coworker?" Pam asked a bit annoyed, even though she wasn't interested in making friends, Jessica was preventing her from finding out what she was hiding.

"Oh come on, I'm very good at chemistry. I'll show you." Jessica said as she took a test tube that she had a magenta colored substance on it.

"Wait !!. Don't mix that with the formula !." Pam yelled as she tried to stop Jessica but it was too late as she had put all the contents into the formula, the container where the formula was that Pam and I were working on started to change color to a deep red, Pam quickly hid herself right in time when the container began to shake violently before exploding.

"My God, Pam, are you okay?" Jessica asked as she removed a notebook from her face that she had used to protect herself from the blast, but she would realize that the girl was gone.

Jessica at that moment looked at the ground only to see that he was lying on the ground with spirals in his eyes and with a silly smile due to the explosion.

"Oh my god !!. Benja, are you okay?" asked the Green Lantern girl as she looked at me very concerned.

"Mom ... I still don't want to go to school." I said foolishly before being knocked out which made Jessica even more concerned.

On the other hand, Pam was outside the room while she had Phil in her arms, she looked at everything with annoyance as she glared at Jessica.

"Damn, I was very close to knowing what Benja is hiding, that girl really is very annoying." Pam said angrily before looking at Phil because the plant had spoken to her.

"Okay, I'll try to be more patient. I'm going to find out what Benja is hiding, whatever the cost." Pam said seriously, at which point Jessica would run away while she took me to the infirmary.

Pam was now walking the hallways while thinking how to find out what was inside of me, the moment she reached her locker she opened it only to find a love letter that left the girl confused.

"A love letter?." Pam wondered to herself as she took the letter and opened it to see what was written inside.

"Roses are red, violets are blue. I would love for us to be best friends." When Pam saw the name of the person who wrote the letter she let out an angry sigh before closing her locker.

"Hi Pam!" Jessica greeted her with a big smile, which caused Pam to freak out because she didn't expect that.

"Violets are not blue, it is an unfounded stereotype !." Pam said before sprinting off leaving Jessica behind.

Pam was now in the bathroom while she was thinking about something, she obviously didn't bring Phil and it was because she didn't want everyone to be thinking that she was crazy, she had accepted being called weird. She was not going to tolerate being called crazy.

"Oh my god, I love your sneakers. Where did you buy them?" Jessica's voice pulled Pam out of her thoughts, who without hesitation would run away.

"Leave me alone !!. Damn it!" Pam screams as she runs away.

Now we were in physical education class, Pam was seeing that she was jogging in front of her which she took the opportunity to get closer to talk.

"Oh hi Pam, how are you?" I asked smiling.

"Well, hey Benja. I wanted to ask you a question." Pam said as she kept up with me.

"Sure, no problem." I said while looking at Pam.

Before Pam could ask the question Jessica had arrived at the place which upset Pam a lot.

"Hi Pam, hi Benja !." Jessica greeted with a smile.

"Hi Jessica." I said smiling.

"Hey Pam, I was wondering if you would like to help us out in the community garden. It will be this weekend." Jessica said with a smile, however Pam couldn't bear it and would start running even faster while Jessica tried to catch up with the girl to keep talking to her.

"What's happening?." I asked as I stopped running and sat on a bench.

"I think we can answer that question." looking up he would see the rest of the team who had seen everything.

"Jessica was trying all day to get Pam to be her friend, but as you can see. It just got the poor girl scared." Zatanna said as she looked at me.

"I see. And what can we do?" ask with doubt.

"We will have to have a serious talk with Jess." Kara said as we all watched as Jessica kept chasing Pam.

"Hello, I have come to help with the adoption of puppies." Jessica waved as she entered a room, but instead of seeing puppies she would see that we were all in front of her.

"Jessica, we need to talk." Zatanna said as he invited Jessica to take a seat.

"And the puppies?" Jessica asked as she looked at us in confusion.

"Puppies are words of encouragement and help." Diana said while she showed a smile, Jessica without many options just sat down and listened to what we had to say to her.

"Jessica, I'm afraid Pamela isn't showing any signs of acceptance of your kind gestures." Diana said as she took the girl's hands.

"What are they talking about? She and I have been texting each other all day, we are getting to know each other more and more." Jessica said smiling.

"Jessica Cruz !!. In the name of God, I'll tell you once and for all! I'm so sorry, but Pam doesn't want to be your friend." Zatanna said as she hugged Jessica that she seemed completely shocked, without saying a single word the girl stood up and they would leave the room without saying a word.

"It went well, right?" asked Barbara smiling.

Jessica was now at the school entrance while holding the same brochures she had made this morning, she was determined not to give up on their cause.

"Please read this. They're about to destroy an ancient tree, we don't want another Lex Luthor coffee shop in town." Jessica said as she tried to get people's attention, however she noticed that no one cared about me which was a hard blow for her.

"Forget it, I'll do it myself." Jessica said as she dropped the brochures into a trash can.

"Hi Jessica." I said as I approached where the girl was.

"Oh hi Benja." Jessica said but she didn't seem to be in the mood, she looked like she was depressed.

"Are you okay Jessica?" ask concerned.

"No Benja, I'm not okay. I was trying to get everyone interested in helping me with this cause but it seems that everyone does not care, then I was trying to win Pam's friendship all day and I only managed to scare her ... I was just doing things are wrong, and this ... is a lost cause. " Jessica said as she sadly held up a brochure.

"You're wrong Jessica, lost causes don't exist." I said as I took a brochure off the floor.

"You are fighting for a very big purpose, do you have any idea how many trees are cut down? How many forests are burned per year by negligible mistakes? Do you have any idea how many lakes were polluted by oil or trash? Those are reasons why they should. Fight to the end, maybe the others don't care. But I do. "I said as I looked at Jessica and she was looking at me.

"Are you serious, Benja?" the girl asked curiously.

"Yes, not only did he say it because I feel a connection with nature because of my ivy element, I also care a lot about the life of both animals and plants, and seeing how forests are cut down, lakes are counted and many places are burned by people. neglected makes me feel bad, because I only think. There are such beautiful and peaceful places to see, but in the end there will always be someone who destroys them for selfish reasons and does not think about the rest. " I said a little annoyed remembering that unlike my world and this one, pollution and forest fires were completely different. While my world was showing some environmental incidents in this dimension, almost none of it was showing.

"You know Jess, if only there were people like you in my world. Hope would always be there." I said smiling as I took a sign-in sheet and signed it letting it be known that she was going to participate in this.

"You are going to participate?." Jessica asked surprised.

"I will not leave my friends behind, friends always help each other through thick and thin." I said smiling.

"Thanks Benja." Jessica said with a smile.

"By the way Jess, I'm really sorry about Pam. When this is over I'll help you apologize to her." I said while looking at the girl.

"Okay Benja, maybe I'll get carried away a bit." Jessica said somewhat embarrassed.

"Don't worry Jessica, I'm sure she accepts your apology." I said as she gave the girl a hug, Jessica reciprocated her gesture while she blushed a little. She did not understand why her heart was pounding again, but this feeling was very pleasant for her.

"This is true?." Jessica and I turned to see Pam looking at one of the brochures in the trash.

"Yes, Benja and I will go. We will understand that you may not be interested in this." Jessica said as she looked at Pam, however the girl approached the table and signed the registration sheets.

"I'll go with you." Pam said as she looked at us with clear determination, there were two reasons why she was coming. The first reason was because this way she could know my secret, the second reason was because this was very important to her.

"Thanks Pam, that means a lot to us." I said smiling.

"Okay, what is the plan?" Pam asked as she and me stared at Jessica.

"So the plan is to hold up these signs and be chained to the tree?" I asked while he was chained to the tree like Pam and Jessica.

"I guess so." Pam said since she was the only one who could answer my question, it was because Jessica wouldn't stop singing. She was singing so loudly that she clearly wasn't focused on talking to the two of us.

"Jessica, how long will we be here?" I ask curiously.

"We will be here until dawn." Jessica said before continuing to sing.

"Until sunrise!?." Pam and I screamed in surprise as Jessica didn't stop singing.

The day passed normally, Pam and I had no choice but to go to the other end of the tree to talk. It was night now and Jessica couldn't stop singing.

"Jessica." I said as I caught my friend's attention.

"Yes, Benja. What's wrong?" Jessica asked as she paid attention.

"First. I admire your determination, no person would be so determined to do this kind of thing. And secondly, I'm very surprised that your vocal chords are still fine after singing for 5 hours straight. But could you please stop singing ?. " I asked a little tired, Jessica was a very good person but she was a little tired of hearing the same song all the time and I think Pam thinks the same.

"Sorry guys, I think I lost track of time." Jessica said sheepishly as she blushed in embarrassment.

The seconds passed, they almost seem eternal since neither of them had anything to say. Until Jessica broke the silence.

"Sorry guys, I shouldn't have brought you here. Surely you guys are hungry and sleepy." Jessica said as she sat on the floor, however she would see how she had sat me next to her.

"Jessica, it's okay. Don't worry," I said while smiling a little.

"Hear that ?." Pam asked as she was on the other side of the tree.

"He's been waiting all night, and finally. He's talking to us." Pam said as she looked up at the sky.

"Who?." Jessica asked curiously.

"The tree." Pam replied as she was listening intently to the tree.

"Wow, that sounds interesting." Jessica said with some confusion.

"He came to these humble lands with the help of a sparrow, the earth received him with open arms and allowed it to be sown. The years passed, slowly that seed began to grow over the years, he never believed that it would grow but when the centuries passed the tree grew to surpass the rest, when that happened he received his new friends and neighbors. He offered them a home and in that way, he became the King of the trees." Pam said as she told a story, it was the story of this tree.

"Pam, that was beautiful." I said completely surprised just like Jessica.

"But then the monsters came, they killed his neighbors and his friends. The trees were brutally slaughtered without mercy, everything around him collapsed and disappeared, around him imposing buildings rose that completely surrounded the tree, forcing him to be alone. Always and Forever." Pam said with clear will go in her voice as she finished telling the story, but around her a couple of roots rose from the ground.

"This tree only wanted to protect his friends, but now. He must be protected." Pam said seriously.

At that time Jessica and I would see a couple of bulldozers and cranes approaching the site.

"Hold on Pam, this is the moment we've been waiting for." Jessica said determinedly as did I. However, we felt how the earth began to shake and out of nowhere we would see how a car was sent flying due to a vine. We saw how a couple of roots came out of the ground and went directly to where the workers were.

"Pam, let's go !." Jessica said as she made a giant scissors appear cutting the chains that tied us, when we went to the back we would see that Pam was gone.

"Come on Jessica, they need us." I said as she closed her eyes, a strong draft of air would be present and the leaves of the tree would begin to surround me. When the wind relaxed, I was now in my hero suit just like Jessica.

Jessica and I launched into combat, I knew that using my ivy element would be useless so I would use the fire and air element to cut the roots and vines, while Jessica did the same and protected herself with a shield thanks to the ring.

However, we both see that someone else had appeared and was in front of the great tree.

The person was a young girl with bright red hair, her clothing seemed like nature had made it especially for her.

"Poison ivy? What are you doing here?" Jessica asked as she looked at the villain.

"Reminding these people that they are the poison of the planet !." Poisson ivy said angrily before lifting a gigantic stalk that would go straight to the workers.

At that moment I saw how the Poison Ivy attack had sent all the workers flying which made me quickly go to help them.

"Element of air: Tornado." I said while swinging my whole body creating a small tornado that would trap the workers, seeing that I had already caught everyone I would begin to gently mold the air so that everyone will be able to land softly which was difficult but I had achieved it.

"I don't know where you guys came from, but I don't care!" yelled the villain as she attacked us with a pair of vines, however her attack was interrupted when Jessica caught her vines with two giant hands and the rest of the vines were burned thanks to my dragon breath.

Poison Ivy at that point would use a pair of jackhammers to attack two workers, but Jessica quickly stopped the attack using a giant wall.

"We are not going to allow you to hurt someone." I said while looking at the serious villain

"That, we'll see." Poison Ivy said with a challenging smile as she made a pair of giant roots appear which made me and Jessica nervous due to the tight space we now had.

Jessica and I tried to cut every vine but no matter how hard we tried, all our efforts were in vain.

"Poor guys, do you have trouble stopping me?" Poison Ivy asked with a mocking smile as she made a gigantic stalk appear that would catch a bulldozer and lift it over us.

"I'll be done with this once and for all !!." the villain yelled as she threw the bulldozers at the workers.

Everything was slow motion, I closed my eyes while concentrating all my power. If this was to end, he would give his all in this attack. An aura of fire began to cover my entire body making the body heat impossible to bear, it felt very suffocating and very exhausting. In short, it was like being inside a giant ninety degree oven.

"Fire Element: Phoenix of Eternal Life !." I yelled as I spread my arms in the air, at that moment the aura that covered my entire body seemed to have come to life as suddenly the aura would fly into the sky and take the form of a gigantic fire bird. He kept his eyes closed and it was because he was having a very strong connection with the phoenix, if he lost the connection the bird would disappear.

I began to move my arms as if the wind was controlling them, the firebird began to fly around us cutting all the vines and rescuing the workers. Poison ivy and Jessica seemed very surprised by the firebird due to the way it moved and attacked. However, I could not bear it anymore and I would fall to the ground weakened making my arms point to the tree and as if it were an order the firebird would attack the ancient tree giving it a direct attack and splitting the tree in half.

"Not!!." the villain yelled with shock when she saw how the bird had attacked the tree.

"Elemental Magician !!" Jessica yelled very concerned as she approached me and saw that I was fine, but was very weakened.

"You could have killed those people!" Jessica said angrily as she looked at Poison Ivy.

"You ... You and your friend, they killed the tree !." the villain said with anger and sadness in her voice as she turned to see Jessica in her eyes.

Jessica saw that it was true, the tree had been destroyed by the attack of the firebird. Before she could say anything she would see how Poison Ivy began to disappear with the help of her vines.

"You are not worthy of the color green, when I return. You and your friend will pay for what you have done." the villain said angrily before she disappeared.

Pam was watching with a sad look as the tree was carried by a cargo truck, Jessica and I were by her side as we watched everything with guilt and sadness.

"300 years of existence, and still. Everyone doesn't care, it was just a lost cause." Pam said with downcast eyes.

"I'm really sorry Pam, I'm sorry the tree couldn't be saved." I said while putting a hand on the girl's shoulder, I felt completely guilty and it was because of me the tree had been destroyed by my attack.

"Don't worry Benja, you are not to blame for this." Pan said sadly, before we could leave Jessica stopped us and pointed to a seed that was in the trunk where the tree was.

Jessica had dug a small well in the forest, Pam placed the seed inside the well before covering the seed with soil, at that moment I approached with some water and would irrigate where the seed was.

"There are no lost causes." Jessica said with a smile, a gesture Pam and I returned in the same way before we started to leave.

"You know Pam, I feel like this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." Jessica said as she hugged Pam, but the girl would quickly separate.

"Don't ruin the moment, Cruz." Pam said as she kept walking.

"You know Pam, you may not trust me and Jessica. But I want you to know that we will always be there for you, if you need help or have problems you can trust us. You may not consider us as your friends, but we will always be there to help you . " I said as she hugged Pam, the girl wanted to say something but she kept quiet. Pam didn't know what to say, but she accepted the hug in a good way as a little pink tint appeared on her cheeks, maybe making friends wasn't such a bad thing after all. She would just have to learn how to find and make friends.

At that moment the three of us turned to see where we had buried the seed only to see a stem emerge showing the first leaf.

"You know, this place I will not only remember as a place where the tree will grow again. I will also remember the place where our beautiful friendship began." I said while hugging Pam and Jessica at the same time.

Jessica accepted the gesture in a good way, however Pam was about to separate however she slowly reciprocated the gesture in a good way and showing a small smile. Maybe Phil was right to make friends and the two of us would be his possible friends, but he had to learn how to get along with us and with each other as well. Maybe not now, but maybe in the future.

So far today's chapter, I hope you liked it. I saw a new comment that said the following:

Gobert600:

The fear of heights is understandable ... but injections?

To be honest I am not very afraid of injections, but they make me completely nervous. You could say that many times I got sick and needed an injection and they always made me very nervous. When they had to put it on my arm, or when they had to remove some of my blood. They made me nervous all the time. So in short, I am not very afraid of injections but they do make me very nervous.

I hope you liked the chapter, if you are liking the story let me know in your comment. If you have any questions you can also tell me which one. That would be it for today, I hope you have a good day, a good afternoon or a good night. Goodbye dattebayo.
