Armed with their new lead, Kim and Bonnie left the school and started to trace what would have been Johnny's path back home. The girls split up and knocked on the doors to each house they passed, asking if anyone had seen Johnny or anything unusual the previous day. No one had. About a block away from the school, though, they came across a gas station on an intersection. That gave Kim an idea.

"You know, Bonnie, I know that gas station has 24-hour surveillance cameras. If Johnny passed by here, they should have him on tape."

"Of course! Even if they don't, it certainly couldn't hurt to check."

The girls quickly went inside and approached the front desk. It was manned by an elderly gentleman, who was very surprised to see the world-famous Kim and another teenage girl enter his establishment during school hours. "Well, Ms. Possible, it's a pleasure to see you. But shouldn't you and your friend be in school?"

"Normally, yes, but I'm here on a mission," Kim explained to him. "This is Bonnie Rockwaller. Her brother disappeared yesterday around 3:00 PM and we think he might have been near this gas station during that time. Can we review your surveillance footage for any clues?"

"Oh, absolutely. Follow me to the back."

He took the girls to a small office and sat down at a computer. After pressing a few buttons, a shot of the building exterior popped up on-screen. "This footage starts at 2:55 yesterday," he told them. "The rewind, pause/play, and fast forward buttons are at the bottom of the screen. I need to go back to the cash register, but feel free to review this as much as you want."

"Thank you so much!" Bonnie told the man. As he left the room, Kim sat down to review the computer and Bonnie stood behind her, watching closely. At first they didn't see anything unusual, but at the point that stated "3:10", they saw a short figure on the sidewalk come into view. Bonnie's jaw dropped as she looked at him.

"OH MY GOSH! Kim, that's Johnny!"

Kim immediately paused the video and zoomed in on the figure. He looked exactly like the picture she had seen, and he was indeed wearing a blue shirt like Mrs. Rockwaller had said. "You're right," she agreed. "This is definitely him."

Biting her lip, she resumed the video hoping for another clue—and got a bigger one than she could have imagined. As Johnny continued down the sidewalk, a black car drove right up to him and stopped. The car was positioned to block the camera's view of Johnny, so the girls couldn't see what exactly was going on—but when the car left, Johnny was gone. He clearly hadn't passed by the car, so there was now no question of what had happened. Johnny had been kidnapped.

"JOHNNY!" a devastated Bonnie cried as she watched the footage of her brother disappearing. Ever since yesterday, she had been terrified that Johnny had been snatched, and now that nightmare had come true. Unable to hold her emotions back, she fell on her knees and buried her face in her hands as she began to sob uncontrollably. Kim, tearing up herself, got out of the chair and knelt down to hug Bonnie.

"Someone took him! Someone took him!" Bonnie wailed hysterically.

"Bonnie, I'm so sorry. So, so sorry," was all Kim could say as she tried to comfort the other girl. She knew, but didn't have the heart to tell Bonnie right then, that stranger abductions didn't usually have happy endings. It was more likely than not that Johnny was already dead. But that didn't mean he was dead for sure. There was still a chance he was alive somewhere, and now Kim was more determined than ever to solve this case. She couldn't imagine how awful she would feel if this had happened to the tweebs, and Johnny was every bit as precious to Bonnie and her family as Jim and Tim were to her. She couldn't let the Rockwallers down.

A Suspect

After Bonnie calmed down a little, Kim got back up and took another close look at the computer monitor. She had missed it before, but the camera had caught the license plate number of the car. It was a bit too small for her to read, but that's what Wade was for. Quickly pulling out her Kimmunicator, she contacted the tech genius.

"Wade, we've confirmed that Johnny was kidnapped by someone in a black car," she informed him. "The license plate is in the surveillance footage, but I can't make it out. I need you to figure out what it says and run a search for it, stat."

"Will do. Just put the Kimmunicator up to the footage and I'll take care of the rest."

Kim did as requested, and Wade began furiously tapping buttons on his computer. Next to Kim, a very scared Bonnie looked on while struggling not to break down crying again. "Do you see anything?" she asked anxiously, her arms tightly folded across her chest.

"I've confirmed the license plate number, yes. It's an in-state license plate, so at least we know the perp is from around here." Wade tapped a few more buttons. "The car's registered to a Ms. Amelia Henderson. Let me run some background info on her."

The girls continued to watch tensely as Wade did his work. Soon, though, he got a serious look on his face, which definitely wasn't a good sign. "Bonnie, you're not going to like this. The Go City PD's got quite a file on Amelia. She's a well-known drug addict and prostitute in the area."

The color drained from Bonnie's face. "Johnny's with a—" was all she was able to get out before she collapsed on the floor in a faint. Wade sighed sadly. "I figured she wouldn't take that well."

"No kidding." Kim glanced at the passed-out Bonnie, then turned back to Wade. "Any information on where she might be?"

Wade shook his head. "I've told you all I could find. I'll send you Amelia's mugshot, but beyond that you'll have to talk to the Go City police for more."

"We'll be contacting them. Thanks, Wade."

Wade's picture disappeared and a picture of a woman's mugshot appeared in the Kimmunicator screen. She had dark brown hair and looked like she had been attractive once, but the effects of drugs were beginning to take their toll. After looking closely at the picture of Amelia, Kim got back down on the floor and nudged Bonnie. "Bonnie? Bonnie, wake up."

Bonnie came to and gave Kim a frightened look. "Kim, that woman who took Johnny—"

"We'll find her. The Go City police know all about her, so that's our next stop." Kim gave Bonnie a sympathetic look. "I'm really, really sorry you're going through this."

Bonnie bit her lip and tears filled her eyes. "I'm scared to death right now. You heard Wade. She's a criminal already. What if—what if she's hurt him?"

Kim put her hand on Bonnie's shoulder. "I wish I could promise you that nothing's happened to Johnny, but I can't. But from one big sister to another, I do promise you this. I won't rest until we find him. And if that bitch has harmed one hair on his head, I'll make sure she pays for it."
