Ted followed his lady love over to a secluded spot by the lake in the early dawn when everything was still blue and quiet. They arrived at the lakeshore and she paused, gripping her robe tightly as she clenched and unclenched her hands. He reached over and grabbed one of her hands, the nails sharpened into perfect almonds with black paint.
"What's going on, love? Neither of us is usually up at this time of morning."
She took a deep, steadying breath and looked to the east. The sun was just starting to spread its warmth over the dewy grounds. Then, she kneeled down on one knee and took out a box with a simple men's ring.
"I know you've been thinking of this step too , but I had to do this my way because you deserve perfection. Edward Tonks, you have brought light into the cold night that was my life. I was used to the cold light of stars but you are the sun, my fair light, bringing smiles and laughter to our bond. I've been in love with you since that day you saved me from the Whopping Willow."
"Remember? Bella tossed my bag too close for me to get safely and you, daring, dashing Hufflepuff that you are, grabbed it for me, risking your safety. We had only talked in class before then and after we walked down here to the shore and just talked about ourselves. I got quite the crush on you Teddy." She blushed but never looked away.
"So it being our final year, I wanted to ask…will you go to Gretna Green with me and make me your bride? No pressure but if you don't do this now, I doubt we'll have a second chance. SO Edward Tonks, Hufflepuff extraordinaire, saver of this poor damsel in distress, will you make me the happiest woman in the UK and marry me?"
"Oh Andy…"He reached into his pocket and pulled out a ring box. "I was gonna ask you the same."
"If I'd make you the happiest woman?" She teased.
He grinned and pulled her up to face him. "Let's do it. Let's get married."
Smiling softly at each other as the warm rays landed around them, they kissed on it and exchanged rings.
