Executioner Melee
The Gang was led back to their cell after they were reunited with, Molly and Rai with a quick congratulations by the rest of them for their victory against Ravage Rider. Once again when they were taken to their cell with the door opening up for them and they were all shoved inside by the guards with, Sparx being released from his tiny cage and place in the cell with the door immediately being shut behind them.
"Can we at least get some room service?" Sparx asked the guard only for the Skavenger outside just snorted and left out of sight of the cell.
"So much for being champions!" Sparx huffed to shaking heads of everyone else in the cell.
"Sparx can you at least be serious about all of this right now!" Molly seethed. "Rai and I almost got killed by a flying battleship and your concerned about room service! Like they would even give it to their prisoners no less!"
"Well sorry!" Sparx shot back at the young woman. "Maybe I am just trying to keep the mood high while stuck in here!"
"You're just making it worse!" Molly yelled back only for, Rai to jump in between them.
"Please! Just be quiet you guys! I am already on edge as it is!" Rai begged as he fell on the ground as he was very exhausted from the fight earlier. He was only ten years old and it was the biggest fight he was in since the attack on the Temple.
Molly and Sparx calmed down as, Molly grabbed, Rai and helped him to his feet taking him to one of the walls and sat back down putting him on her lap and tried to give him a comfortable place to rest.
Spyro, Adir and Sid all sat down for a few minutes as they all had a lot on their minds. Sid tried to drown out some thoughts that were surging through his mind by drinking more of the grog that was on the stand in the cell.
But no matter how many cups of it he drank nothing could leave his mind. He took long looks at everyone in the cell. Both his friends and his family were all in this cell. Trapped in this madness and being forced to fight against very dangerous opponents where any of them could have perished and it was all his doing.
Thinking back in the swamp when they sought out the tree in his cousin's and the purple dragons vision. They found it only to discover it was a monster and he allowed himself to get knocked all the way back into the swamp where he soon got grabbed by the Skavengers. If he was more careful and was thinking more clearly at the moment he never would have been sent flying into the swamp like that and get captured so easily after.
His family and friends threw down their arms and surrendered all to make sure he wouldn't be killed right there and then. He is supposed to be strong. He is the son of a war hero. He played in sports that involved some of the roughest competitors there was, and he worked in places that required a lot of strength and cautionary people to work in it. And yet twice in his life he was useless. All that strength and with so many looking up to him and he had failed and now they were all in a great deal of danger because of his weakness.
So full of anger over himself he grasped a mug he had in his hand so tightly that it shattered sending out the foamed contents all over the place and with the wooden cup crunched in the middle leaving it useless to use for anything.
This drew attention by everyone. "Sid? Are you okay?" Adir asked.
Sid gave his cousin a blank look. "No. I'm tired. We're rotting in here and not doing anything about it. We have to get out of this place somehow." He replied throwing the mug he broke in his hand against the bar of the cell barely missing, Sparx.
"Hey! Watch it!" Sparx chided. "I don't like here as much as anyone else present but there's no need to splatter me with a broken cup!"
"Sorry." Sid apologized sitting down putting a hand over his head as the thoughts of him being a failure to his family continued to surge through his mind.
Spyro stood up feeling the same way as, Sid was. "I do agree. We have to get out of here somehow. I know something terrible is going to happen."
Sparx had his back turned to the dragon and rest though he paid attention to what he had said. "You know, if I don't get any food I'm going to freak out!" He then turned around and look to the dragon and the others. "I got it! Why don't you all just shoot some sparkly magic out of your hands and faces and blow the gate up!" He suggested loudly.
Molly groaned at the dragonfly's incompetent suggestion. "Sparx! Have you forgotten that this ship we are in is the size of dozens of whales! Filled to brink with hundreds maybe a thousand or more of these Skavengers and not to mention there are dozens of various sized ships flying about outside as escorts!"
Sparx folded his arms before putting a finger under his chin. "Well…you got a point there. But we can't stay here forever! If I have to be cramped up in a lantern every hour or so I might as well shrivel up and pluck my wings and become what they make of me!"
Sid smiled slightly as the thought of, Sparx becoming a lantern for good was an amusing thought but no one noticed it.
"I agree on all accounts." Adir put in sitting down against the wall. "We cannot remain here but yet we cannot just break out we would be overwhelmed. Even when Spyro and I were going about our previous quest rescuing the guardians there was much against at those times but we on even grounds and had the local populace helping us out even if one of them wasn't fully on our side and we were enemies to them too. It was only at, Cynder's Lair did we have the bulk of her army on us along with all of her fortress's defenses. We just barely made it to, Ignitus at the time."
Spyro nodded in agreement. "Yes. We need to be smart about this. We have to wait for an opportunity of some kind. I know there's something terrible to come but it will come to pass entirely if we all lose our lives over a reckless escape attempt."
"Then I am stumped! What can we do?" Rai complained as he hated it when there was little to no options to work with.
There was a knock on the cell bars getting everyone's attention to it. "Spyro! Friends, your all in danger!" A Concerned voice warned. Everyone looked to see it was, Mole-yair at the front of the cell.
"Mole-yair!" Molly exclaimed happily as she gently took, Rai and settled him down against the wall and ran up to the door and kneeled to the mole.
"What do you mean?" Molly asked.
"I can't stay around to explain it to you. I have a message from another prisoner here. Here take it!" Mole-yair handed a piece of paper to the young woman and quickly left as fast as he could go.
"Who could have sent this?" She asked standing up and looked upon the words on the tan sheeted paper that was the last amount of a ruined scroll.
"Care to tell us what it is, Molly?" Spyro inquired.
"Oh, I bet its just fan mail! We have been kicking it pretty well in that arena!" Everyone just gave, Sparx a look before, Molly cleared her throat and walked to the center of the cell and began to read what was on the note.
"Dear friends…there are whispers going about this ship word of your captivity has traveled quickly. Many of the Prisoners are uneasy." Molly read as concerned glances began to pass around the group.
"They say the Ape King himself has placed a bounty on you all and all the dragons These are dark times but know this, you have allies. I look forward to the day we can meet. Hunter of Avalar." Molly finished.
She held the scroll with the note in it as everyone remained silent over the recent news. "Allies?" Rai inquired.
"Who's this Hunter?" Sid asked next.
No one knew the answer as, Sparx chided in. "How thoughtful of this guy. I especially like the part of the dark times and the danger."
Adir shook his head. "Sparx whoever this is took a big risk in getting us this message. If what he said is true now we need to work out a plan before…" He stopped talking when he heard the sound of approaching footsteps that sounded like another group of Skavengers. Molly threw the scroll in the back of the cell just behind the stand with a couple mugs of grog left on it as a group of Skavengers came into view of the cell.
"Its show time!" The one at the head of the group smiled gleefully as the cell was opened up. He pointed at, Sid to his surprise. "You! Your next to fight!"
"Me?!" Sid quizzed.
"That's right! The Captain wanted the Tall one for the next bout! Now get out of there all of you and get moving!" The Skavenger ordered as everyone exited the cell. Once again, Sparx was shoved into a tiny cage.
"This is getting real old! Real fast!" He grumbled as, Rai was handed the cage and he along with the dragon and his brother and sister were led to where they would be placed in the stands while, Sid was escorted to one of the gates to the arena.
Once more all those that were not participating in the fight that would soon take place below were chained up in the stands with, Skabb close by in the arena as dozens of Skavengers all stood about cheering for the next match to start.
"Guests of the Arena!" Scratch the parrot announced on the left shoulder of, Skabb. "We have exciting news about some of our combatants. Shall we bring out the tallest of them?" He asked as the blood thirsty pirates around all howled and cheered with eagerness.
Adir and his family all looked worried along with, Spyro and Sparx as they saw, Sid be shoved out from one of the gates as he walked ahead till he was close to the center of the arena.
"There's a rumor going about that this particular gang along with their tall friend below is of some great importance!" Scratch continued to announce.
Adir leaned over to his sister. "So, what the note said could have been true after all." He whispered as, Molly repeated it quietly to the others.
"What say you, tall one?" Scratch called to the human in the arena below. "What greatness can you offer?"
Sid gave him a glare as he had nothing to say to any of them above. Though he tried not to show it, but he was nervous. His cousins had powers and the Dragon as well. That gave them the edge they needed in their fights. But he was without powers and not even a weapon at his disposal. What could he do against whatever it would be he would have to fight against?
Sniff the parrot on, Skabb's right shoulder only shook his feathers in anticipation. "The only thing you'll be showing is great pain!" He gleefully flapped his wings.
The Gate under where, Skabb stood opened up as, Sid stared into the darkness as two red eyes opened within.
"Oh, boy!" Sid shivered.
"Bring out the Executioner!" Scratch ordered as a colossal figure wearing bronze armor making it seem like a knight from the days of old. Due to the amount of armor nothing but the glowing red eyes could be seen as it stomped out into the open as the crowd cheered wildly.
"You've got to be kidding me!" Sid shook in fear as the way the Executioner moved seemed like the monster that caused him to be captured again. If it wasn't intimidating enough the colossal being held a sword and a shield in its hand as it stopped just short of the center of the arena pointing it sword at, Sid laughing him.
Without taking another second the Executioner raised his sword high and slashed downward and, Sid was just able to duck low to avoid losing his head.
He breathed heavily as fear began to take hold of him. He ran forward to try and get through under the attacker, but it stopped him be bashing his shield right into him sending hurling into the wall.
Spyro and the others gasped as, Sid hit the wall hard before falling onto the ground. The Skavengers watching the show all howled as they enjoyed the display of carnage as the Executioner stomped forward intending to end the fight.
Sid groaned as he pushed himself up to his feet just when the Executioner reached him. It moved its sword back then thrusted forward but, Sid rolled to his left narrowly avoiding the sword again, but he was afraid. The Towering menace was covered in armor and he had nothing to use against it. How could he beat something that huge?
Again, he was met with a challenge that he could take a stand against. The Executioner continued to try and strike at the human below him as it slashed it sword at him with, Sid backing up just time as the blade only touched the tip of his clothes.
Sid didn't know what he was going to do as he was being backed up into the wall. Each step brought him closer to it as he tried to avoid being slashed.
Adir could see his cousin was filled with fear. He never once had seen him afraid before. If there was anyone he looked up to when the family was together it was, Sid who was not only the kindest person one could meet but anyone that gave the family trouble he was always there to counter it. He may not have any powers like the rest, but he was still the cousin he was proud to have and he did not want to see him perish.
"Sid! You can do it! We believe in you!" He called as loud as he could to get past the roaring crowd.
"That's right, cousin! You can beat that behemoth!" Rai stood and cheered as, Sid ducked from another slash for the sword as he heard his family calling at him.
"You're the best among us, Sid! You can win!" Molly shouted as loud as she could. Spyro and Sparx looked at each other nodding knowing that, Sid below needed more confidence.
"Listen to your family, Sid! They do believe in you as do I! Don't be afraid!" Spyro cheered at him as, Sid again took a step back this time hitting the wall behind him. The Executioner laughed as he had his opponent right where he wanted him. He raised his sword high as, Sid looked at his family hearing their shouts and cheers.
"Hey buddy! Your big! Your bulky and your strong! You can do it buddy!" Sparx cheered from his cage as the Executioner brought sword down but this time, Sid managed to dive forward and rolled under the armored attacker just before the sword came down at him.
The Crowd booed slightly as they thought the match would be over, but they then cheered as the match continued. Sid ran to the center and looked his family and friends having heard what they said with his opponent turning around its red eyes narrowing as it was becoming frustrated as it stomped again towards, Sid.
Sid closed his eyes thinking quickly over all that he heard. His family believed in him. His two friends believed in him. Wither it was his fault or not that they ended up like how they were both times it didn't matter. What mattered the most was what was happening now.
Turning his fear around remembering everything he had gone through in life. No matter the challenge or those that got in his way he never backed down. He faced all of it head on. He stood tall like a man should. He had a lot to live up to for his father had gone through the worst of it in life and he aspired to be like him.
"No. Not like this! I will not go out a coward!" He growled readying himself with his Attacker close enough to use his sword. Raising the sword up, Sid stood ready this time. If he was going to go out then he would do it like a true soldier would.
The Sword came down fast as the crowd and the prisoners watched in anticipation and the prisoners with fear as the Sword was coming close. Sid launched a clenched fist up at the sword then a small flash of light came from his left hand then right when the sword above him was about to slice down through his right hand his hand glowed with a green aura as his fist collided with a sword as, Sid let out a loud battle cry expecting pain but instead he felt the blade cracking then in a second the whole sword shattered into pieces to the shock of the entire crowd and even the Executioner as it looked at its sword as nothing remained of it.
But Sid was not done yet. Feeling a force build up within him he turned around and opening his hand as a green ball of light appeared as it extended out creating a small green auraed rope and twirled back towards his opponent collided the green ball of earth energy right onto its chest knocking it onto his back.
Feeling a surge of powerful might continuing to build up within. Sid leaped up onto the Executioner while it was still on its back coming up to its head. The Red eyes of it went wide in fear as it could see the intensity in, Sid's eyes as his hands glowed and began to deliver a series of punches onto it.
The Executioner was being hit on sides of its armored head one after the other as blow crushed the helmet more and more on into its head. Sid would not falter or show any signs of stopping as he continued to wail down on the one that tried to take his life.
Seeing how the Executioner did not even try to counter him, Sid thought it was time to finish this fight. Bringing his hands together he raised them up high as they glowed even brighter and letting one more battle cry he brought it down onto the face of the Executioner sending out a loud crash as the helmet shattered and the head of the once menacing Executioner was gone.
Taking a few breaths to calm himself, Sid looked at his hands to see the glow fade away. He didn't truly understand what had happened, but he had seen it happen with, Molly before. He had gone the power of an Element. It had to be Earth as, Terrador had told all of them about the power of the Element and what it can do. He was still rather confused but thanks to that power he managed to beat back and achieve victory over the Executioner.
Raising his hands, he let a triumphant cry of victory. The Crowd cheered with him as, Sid unintentionally attracted the crowd with his victory cheer.
Spyro, Adir and the others could not believe what they saw. Sid not only managed to win but he gained an Element as well. They too applauded and cheered for their friend and family member. With Sid acquiring his own power they may yet just be able to escape soon.
Scratch on Skabb's shoulder smiled at the display below very impressed. "Well, well. It seems we are amongst greatness." He admitted as the crowd calmed down to hear him speak.
"The Purple Dragon and his companions have defeated everything we have thrown at each of them." The Crowd growled and grumbled as that meant there was no one left for any of them to face. Which would mean the games would be over for a time.
"But fret not. O faithful fans!" Scratch assured. "Tonight, we have a special bonus match!"
Spyro and the rest of his friends heard that. "Bonus match?" They inquired simultaneously.
"Oh, cool! A Bonus match!" Sparx sarcastically beamed.
Scratch pointed at the prisoners. "Take them all and throw them in. This special match will require them all!" He ordered as the guards near them released them from the benches and took them to the gates below. Once they were there they were shoved into the Arena. Sparx was released from his cage as they all hurried up to, Sid with, Molly hugging him and the rest giving him pats on his back and shoulder glad to see that he made it and they confirmed he was like them as his left hand bore a green dragon mark indicating he was now like the rest of them. The Element of Earth was his.
As glad as they all were together now. They readied themselves as with this apparent bonus match it would require them all to work together to face it. They prepared themselves but what would soon come through the gate that slowly opened up gave them an absolute shock as what came through it was someone they did not expect to see, and they could not believe this would be someone they would have to face for this match.
