Journey to the White Isle

"You cannot be serious, Spyro?!" Bellowed Tracy in complete disgust. "What do you mean that you, my son and, Sparx are going alone?!"

Everyone else was nodding in agreement their expressions showing both revulsion and concern. "She's got a point!" Sid agreed looking at the purple dragon in surprise. "We came out with you from the temple to help you find the Chronicler. Now you're saying you want to go off with just the dragonfly and my cousin?"

"Hey, I got a name!" Sparx pointed out folding his arms flying up near, Sid's face but the man paid him no mind.

"I know you would all feel this way but…" Spyro tried to say but, Tracy interrupted coming up to the dragon looking at him straight in the eye.

"Do you understand how hard it was for me to allow both my sons and daughter along with my cousin to accompany you to find that tree you were seeking before? I had thought you would find what you were seeking and be back. Ignitus had said you would not encounter any real danger. Should have known that would have been quite the false statement had I known what would have really happened." Tracy almost screamed in frustration as recalling that moment weighed heavily on her heart. Given to what they had all been through and after finding them at Munitions Forge and their battle against the remnants of the Skavenger Fleet they were all very fortunate. Bad enough that Cyril got seriously hurt but should any of her family had gotten hurt or worse killed how could she live with herself? She lost her husband already and for a time she thought she lost her oldest son only by a miracle was he alive. To see him leave her sight along with the others was all she took from breaking down before. There was no way she was going to let them take off again.

Spyro sighed knowing this was exactly what he knew was going to come from any one of them. It was fitting it was, Adir's mother. "I know…I would not say this if I didn't believe that, Adir, Sparx and I have to find the White Isle by ourselves. But…"

"No buts, Spyro!" Molly scoffed feeling so repulsed. They had traveled long and far. Fought many battles. She along with, Sid, Rai and her Mother and Uncle had gained their own elemental powers. They had stuck by each other through every ordeal and saw each other get through it all. Many close calls but they managed to pull through. She didn't even want to believe Spyro would suggest that. Her gaze quickly turned on her younger brother, Adir. Taking notice that his eyes showed a confirming look she went to him and grabbed his shoulders firmly.

"And don't you even think about it, Adir! You're not leaving here without any of us!" She exclaimed her voice full of frustration but had a hint of concern in it.

"I know how you're feeling but I have to agree with, Spyro on this." Adir said removing his sisters hands from his shoulders while all eyes turned on him in surprise.

"What? You agree with him?" Jim tapping his Warhammer on the deck irritably. "The Only way for a soldier to survive is to stick with his squad. We are not breaking the squad apart. Its too dangerous out there! Look around you!" Jim threw his arm all over the sight of the ship and the others which all were badly damaged. The Bodies of the fallen Skavenger's that were not in piles were being thrown overboard by some of the freed prisoners that still had their strength, enough to toss their deceased remains of their captors into the sea below.

"See all that? Any one of us could have been a casualty! Look at Cyril. We are fortunate he can still breathe! Why is that? Because we stuck together! We pulled through as a unit! Breaking this family apart is not an option!" Spat Jim.

Rai stepped by his uncle nodding. "Yeah. What Uncle said. Why should we just let you three leave us? We should continue our search together. The More eyes we have the better we have at finding that dragon. You do have the map, right?" Asked Rai.

Adir nodded showing the map in his hand. "Right here. Judging by the map its just a few dozen miles to the northeast."

"Good then we are setting out for it then." Rai happily said but, Spyro again shook his head.

"I concur with all of you on this. Believe me. If there was no other way I would want every one of us to find the Chronicler together. But you can't go." Spyro replied.

"And why not?" Tracy sniffled trying to hold herself in, but she was both frustrated and afraid. Twice she saw a son of hers go out of sight. Once she thought him dead. Twice she thought he could have died along with her other children and nephew. Now a third time? They were tempting fate too much. Much like her late husband who had one tour too many. Four tours and she remembered the promise her husband made. It was the last one he would be on before he would leave the military. Oh, how those words haunted her when instead of him coming home alive and well it was two military officers giving her grim news.

"You're all needed here." The Purple Dragon gestured to Cyril who was laying on his side wincing slightly as the pain he was still enduring troubled him greatly. His wings singed and torn. "Cyril needs to be taken back to the Temple and get healed. The Other prisoners are in just as much need too. Half of them are starved and wounded. They would not survive an attack. They need to be cared for and taken to their lands and homes. Their people have to be warned about the night of Eternal Darkness that is coming. They have to prepare." Explained Spyro and the others couldn't help but figure that he may have a point.

But Tracy still stood firm where she was. "Be that as it may I cannot allow you three to leave on your own! First we take care of, Cyril and the others then we will return and set out for the White Isle together."

Spyro shook his head using his wing to point towards the dim sky. Though clouds were many the two celestial moons could still be seen and they were coming together at the start of their diameter. "No. There is no time for that. By the time we finish all that it maybe too. We have to get to the White Isle and find the Chronicler! We need answers and we need them fast. We have to find out how to stop all this from happening. Please understand, Tracy. I don't say this lightly but it's the best chance we have by having I, Adir and, Sparx set out at once."

Tracy didn't like what she had heard. She turned her face starting to form tears in her eyes. Looking up in the sky, Spyro wasn't lying. As she heard clearly from the Guardians that as soon as the moons would come into an Eclipse it would mean great disaster. If the moons would come together and there is no plan or even some form of defense or shelter then they all could perish. This was very difficult for her to decide. Seeing how Cyril still was in need of medical attention only by making it back to the temple did he have a chance and dozens of freed prisoners were just as much in need. Being of so many other races that undoubtedly were in lands that she did not even know where exactly they lived. Could be close or far. Hours, days or even more. Spyro was right. They had little time left and they cannot waste too much of it.

Adir came up behind her putting a hand on her shoulder. "Mom…I know this is hard. Believe me. This is just as hard for me. I just got you all back. For a whole year I thought I lost my family and when you were all saved, and I saw you all safely back in the temple I was more happy than I can tell you. I wanted to leave the temple alone that night. But my brother, sister and cousin joined me. They were a tremendous help as you and, Uncle Jim were here. We gained elemental powers, and we accomplished a lot together but, Spyro and I have to go alone. We have to find the Chronicler before it's too late."

Tracy turned around fast and hugged her son tightly sniffling. He was a brave young man. Out of all her children he took after his father the most. He knew of the dangers and risks, but he was willing to go to fight for his family and country. They may not have a country here, but they still had a family, and the family was in danger indefinitely with the coming darkness ahead. The Dragons and even a dragonfly had become family to her as well. They had something to fight for here and the family itself had to be protected.

Adir hugged his mother back and it was hard for him too. If anything, he dared not want to leave any of his family. Especially after all they managed to do. Finding the Tree that turned out to be a monster and besting it. Surviving gladiatorial games and escaping their prison in the Skavenger ship, saving the manwearesmalls and destroying what was left of the Skavenger fleet and winning the fight against their Captain. Certainly, they almost seemed like an unstoppable team. But this was something he knew that, Spyro was right about.

Zima who had been listening to every word being spoken between the family. She adored how they all cared so much for one another. She had almost forgotten how that feeling was since losing her brother and leaving behind the city that had taken everything from her. The Mother and apparent Uncle were concerned for every reason. If anything, the three that were going to leave were going to need all the help they can get. She was the only Snow Leopard among the prisoners. There was no need to go to her lands to bring anyone home. All they needed was a messenger and certainly anyone would listen to a dragon once she would ask the favor.

Stepping forward she went up to the mother and son who finally broke away from each other. Without speaking another word. Tracy looked at Adir and sadly nodded. She had to let him go once again. This was bigger than anyone of them now. If the darkness could be stopped then the Chronicler better have all the answers they needed to stop it and save their family.

"Ill go with them." Zima volunteered to everyone's surprise.

"You?" Asked Tracy.

Zima nodded. "Yes. I owe you all a tremendous debt for my freedom. You saved my life and for that I shall repay it in full by going with your son on his quest, my lady."

"Now wait a minute!" Sid stomped his foot impatiently. "Why should the kitty go? Least take me with you!" Zima didn't appreciate being called that giving the tall muscular man a hiss.

"Sid your needed here with all of us!" Jim retorted and though he too was against it what, Spyro had said had a grim truth in it. They had to stick together first and foremost but if they just wait around for what was coming there was little to no chance they would survive. If they had any chance of making it through in the long run they needed a way to get through. The Chronicler was said to be wise and if the visions his nephew and, Spyro have had were true then he had to let at least one of them go which, Adir would be the best option. He was not going to risk any one else from the family.

Jim walked over to, Adir. "Look kid, I was against this, and I still aim but you watch yourself out there. You hear me? You will return as soon as your done with this quest. We stick together. Swear it!"

"I swear it, Uncle." Promised Adir.

Spyro stood up tall. "I swear it too. You have my word as soon as we find the chronicler we will return." The Purple Dragon vowed. "I will look out for, Adir as he has done so with me all this time."

"And I shall do the same. You all saved my life. I will put my life before you all." Zima promised putting a hand over her heart. "All I ask you deliver a warning to my homeland in the Farnnia Ice Plains. Warn my people of the coming darkness."

Sid, Rai and Molly were all feeling rather hurt, Spyro, Adir and Sparx were going to leave them all behind. They started this journey together and they had to stop while those three were leaving them behind and a person they just met who seemed of good nature and was in the same predicament they all were once in. But as much as they hated to admit it there was a lot to do. Cyril needed help and the freed prisoners. Many races and lands still needed to be warning of the coming Eternal Darkness. This was both infuriating and sad for them. How could they just let them all leave like this? What if they leave and they are never seen again? What if they don't find the Chronicler? So many horrible outcomes were surging through their mind. However, it had seemed Spyro and Adir were set for this. Sparx looked rather squeamish, but they knew him well enough he would not leave those two behind and, Zima was determined.

Rai was the first to come up to the Purple Dragon and his brother. "Please be careful. And don't forget about us." Rai tried to sound brave but the thought of losing his brother and, Spyro was easily seen on his face.

Adir hugged his brother. "Don't worry, Rai. We will be back before you know it." Assured Adir. Spyro put his head over, Rai's shoulders next.

"Trust me we will be okay. You did well, Rai. Your everything like, Adir is. You fought bravely and your skill with electricity is incredible. Once we get our own electrical element back ill be sure to use some of your moves on the next one who comes near." The Purple Dragon winked and, Rai chuckled though his sadness was more clear now.

Sid came next offering his hand to his cousin. "Do watch for each other now. Take care, alright. Don't dilly around. Just get back fast." He said showing more bravado than his younger cousin. He had faith in, Spyro and Adir. If those two could save all the guardians and defeat Cynder on their own before then finding someone who was only a few dozen miles away would be simple.

"You got it, Sid." Adir replied shaking his cousins hand and they gripped each other in a unified gesture handshake and once done, Sid patted on the purple dragons side.

"You heard me, Spyro. Take care, buddy. Stay safe." Sid told the Dragon and, Spyro.

"We will." Replied Spyro and lastly Molly came up and she was worried the most. Already a tear had escaped her eyes. She survived a year of slavery. Fought many an ape, pirate and beast. Gaining her elemental power along the way. She battled alongside both her family and the Dragons who in the short time she got to know them became the greatest of family she had ever known. She just didn't know what to say but, Spyro went to her left and, Adir to her right and they both embraced, Molly in their own way.

Molly wrapped her arms around the two and after a few moments had passed she finally spoke up. "Be safe. All of you." She whimpered feeling so heavy with emotion she could barely stand. Zima and Sparx watched the scene and even, Sparx felt a sense of sorrow though he would not dare admit or show it. When they were all together least he knew that things would be a lot safer with so many of them together. But now that it was just down to, Spyro, Adir and Zima, who was a stranger to them, it seemed their chances of success were very slim now but even he knew that arguing would not solve the problem. Not this time if not ever for no one has ever really listened to his advice but maybe one day someone might listen.

"So, uh…how are we going to go since we will have one member of our new team?" Asked the Dragonfly.

"Good question, my friend. Spyro is indeed a young dragon. Not too much room for me to ride and certainly carrying any one of us under claw would be a burden. Let me see if any one of these ships still was worthy of travel at this moment." Replied Zima before leaving the group to look over at all the Skavenger ships. One that would have the less damage on it, and it was still capable of sailing through the sky.

Once everyone had finished saying what they had to say the journey to the White Isle would soon be at hand, but they had to tend to their own wounds and the needs of the prisoners.

A Couple hours had passed before it was time for, Spyro and the other three that were joining with him to leave. Zima had found the smallest ship among the remains of the fleet that still was capable of flight. Despite the damage it had endured with many fragments of the ship with holes and burned remains of debris and one of the masts missing they just needed one and with some help they threw off what they didn't need and what would affect the ship overboard. The Provisions it had within were plenty and some of the prisoners pitched in to help patch up the ship once they were made aware of the situation that required their help despite all they been through. The Prisoners owed their saviors their thanks as well as their lives and with them about to be taken home and to a safer domain it was the least anyone of them could do and help however they could.

Once the small ship was fit and ready to go it was time to board it. The Sun was starting to go down in the distance and with the moons above already beginning to cross over every hour by now counted. Spyro and Adir along with, Sparx and Zima had to leave now.

Zima was the last to board but before she could, Tracy stopped her grabbing her wrist. "Zima." She had Zima turn around to look at her directly. "We may not know each other. But I want to thank you for this. You're going far out of your way to look out for my son and his friends. You will face many dangers ahead which I pray you do not but please l beg that you look out for them. Each one means the world to me." Asked Tracy her voice pleading.

Zima took Tracy's hand and gently gripped them in her pawed hands. "You maybe a stranger to me but with what you and yours did for me and all the other prisoners in our time of greatest need you came for us all. You risked your own lives for the sake of my own as well as theirs. I will fight and protect yours, Lady Tracy. I will give my own life in service to you and you kin." Zima bowed to her before walking up the ramp to the deck of the tiny ship where, Spyro, Adir and Sparx awaited her.

"Goodbye everyone!" Spyro called floating in the air just behind Adir as the young man stood tall with his arms folded with, Sparx on his right.

"See you later guys! The Heros got to save the world!" Sparx chortled only at the annoyance of the others with, Zima standing one foot on the railing looking at all the people below. They all were waving and smiling along with fearfulness and dread. They had a destination but there was no telling what they would encounter along the way or when they would get to the island that was full of mystery and the dwelling of a dragon whose name only existed in olden tales.

"Farewell all!" Zima waved back before she went to the Helm of the ship having been given the map where the island would be. She had lowered the sail before reaching the helm and began to turn the ship in the northwest direction.

"Goodbye!" Adir waved trying his best not to turn away. He was trying to keep himself straight but the idea of leaving behind his family was just as much of a toll on him as it was doing them. He saw them all look at him proudly as well as worryingly. They had every right to feel as they do. This was going to be a journey that would test their resolve now in a new way. Least they could leave knowing that all they were going to leave behind were capable of taking care of themselves.

"Bye, Adir! Bye Spyro, Sparx I love you!" Tracy cried and the others all waved and called out taking every second to look at them. Who knows when they will see them again. If not ever but none of them would be thinking that. They will make it. They got to!

Sparx heart melted at that. "Aww…you hear that? She loves me!" Sparx moaned happily though, Spyro and Adir just rolled their eyes. But it had to be true. Since they all had come together since the day, Cynder was defeated, and the family reunited and became a bigger one they were more close than ever. Certainly, love was in the hearts of all that had been united through prophecy and the trials they all endured together as well as separately.

Zima turned into the wind and the ship began to drift away from the rest of the ships. Everyone upon them and the lone ship sailing away continued to wave and look at the other taking in every second. This was difficult for all of them. Leaving the other behind for both the good of all and carrying a hope with them that lands and the people that lived with them would be warned on time and the former prisoners could be reunited with their own loved ones while a lone group headed off for a possible solution to the direness of dreadful coming of the Eternal Night.

The Moons were slowly coming together already, showing no signs of slowing down. Time was of the essence and, Zima at the helm had the sail at full. The Ship was moving northeast at the fastest speed it could. Spyro could fly a lot faster than it but with the isle being at such a distance with no places to land other than the sea it was best to have gone by ship where they have something dry to land on and use for their purpose at finding the Isle and hoped that the ancestors were looking out for them. The Four were heading for the White Isle as no land was no longer in sight the further they traveled and all those they left behind had their own tasks at hand. They hoped their destination would come soon and the one they sought would give them the answers they needed to stop the Eternal Night before it befalls them all.
