Marcel Gerard wasn't a man easily shocked. He'd considered himself to have seen it all, if not due to his long life and rule over New Orleans than due to those he was raised by. However, he'd never seen a witch capable of doing what the young woman in front of him had just done. She'd taken down thirty of his day walkers with a literal flick of the wrist. That shouldn't be possible.
Marcel wasn't Naïve. He was sure there were witches capable of doing what this girl had just done, but it would leave them comatose or dead. This girl wasn't even bothered by what she'd done. She didn't break a sweat, which meant that this was barely a flicker of what she could do.
Elena stepped over a couple of the unconscious vampires to get to their boss. "Well? You were saying something about making an example, right? Was this what you meant?"
"How did you do that? No witch could do that and still be standing," Marcel said. The only witch he'd seen come even close to that level of power was Davina, and he didn't think she could do this, not without some sort of backlash.
"Well, apparently one can. You know, before you go threatening to kill people, you really should know your enemy. Your arrogance might end up getting you killed one day otherwise," Elena said.
"What are you? I have never seen anyone capable of this, at least not without it killing them," Marcel said.
"You've never seen anything like me at all," Elena said.
"Now who's arrogant?" he asked.
"Oh, that's not arrogance. It's a fact. I'm the only one of my kind. As for what I am, I'll leave that up to the imagination. What about you though? At first I thought you were some vampire gang leader or something, but I heard this city used to be run by a group of vampires who called themselves its kings. Is that what you claim to be? Some sort of king?" Elena asked. Her father and uncle told her all about how they ran New Orleans back in the day. Apparently the smug vampire in front of her thought he could take up the mantle.
"That's right. This is my city," Marcel said.
Elena chuckled. "Well, sorry to disappoint, but I won't be following your rules. I came here for a purpose, and I intend to see it through, no matter the cost."
"And what purpose is that?" Marcel asked. He had to wonder if she was here on behest of the New Orleans ritual, maybe to get her hands on Davina. However, she didn't seem to know anything about him. He would think her witch friends would fill her in on that, unless she was feigning ignorance. Well, if that was her purpose, he would stop her. He wouldn't let anyone hurt Davina.
"Not your concern. Just stay out of my way," Elena said as she went to move past him.
Marcel grabbed her arm, which, admittedly, probably wasn't the best move. "Everything that happens in this city is my concern."
"Do you have any brain cells at all?" Elena asked before grabbing his wrist and pulling it off of her. Once she had, she didn't release him. Instead, she held is wrist in a crushing grip. Her witch powers weren't the only abilities that increased in the last year. Her vampire abilities were also a lot better. Her strength was almost as strong as an original.
Marcel yelled out in pain, and his knees buckled as he began to crumble to the ground.
Elena let him go when she was sure she'd made her point. "You're not a quick study, are you? You know, this is me being nice. I could've killed your people today. I could've killed you, but unlike you, I have no interest in needless death. This is me being nice. Don't screw with me."
"Yeah? How about the needless deaths of the three girls your witch friends murdered?" Marcel asked.
Elena raised an eyebrow. It seemed her father might be right to be wary of the witches in town. "Assumptions are deadly, you know. You know nothing about me. You never bothered to find out before deciding to have me killed, a costly mistake on your part. Stay out of my way."
Marcel stood up as the girl started walking away from him. "You didn't tell me your name."
"No, I didn't," Elena called back to him as she kept walking. She needed to get home. Her father was not going to be thrilled with this turn of events.

Elena got home about ten minutes later. Most of her family was lounging in the living room. Her Uncle Finn was the only one not there.
"Hi, sweetheart. How was your walk?" Elijah asked his daughter.
"Okay, Dad, don't be mad," Elena said.
Elijah sighed. "Elena, I think we should discuss good and bad ways to start a conversation."
"It wasn't my fault," Elena started again.
"Another bad way," Jenna said with a slightly amused tone. Her niece was fine, so it couldn't be that bad. More than likely, it was something that would annoy Elijah, but not much worse than that.
"I used to say that all the time. No one ever believed me," Kol said.
"Because it usually was your fault," Klaus said.
"What's going on, Elena," Elijah asked.
"So, I know you said no huge displays of magic, but I kind of had no choice. I got cornered by a bunch of vampires," Elena said.
"What? Are you alright?" Jenna asked concerned.
"I think the better question is are the vampires alright?" Kol asked with a knowing smile.
Elena returned the smile before turning back to the others. "Apparently they somehow got wind of my locator spell. According to the self-proclaimed king, it's forbidden use magic in the French Quarter. He wanted to kill me."
Klaus' eyes flashed dangerously, both because someone had threatened his niece, and because they had the nerve to think they could take over as king. "Someone dares?!"
Elijah stood up. His eyes made it clear that he was ready to kill someone. He didn't take kindly to anyone threatening his daughter. It was immaterial that she could defend herself. They would pay for this. "Who is this vampire?"
"I didn't get his name, purposely. I know you'd kill him on the spot without thinking about it. Look, if there's someone out there that can control the supernatural factions in this city, he might be of use," Elena said.
"No! They all need to die for touching you!" Klaus snarled.
"Technically, they didn't touch me. I broke their necks first," Elena said. Well, one of them had touched her, but she had no intention of divulging that. He'd definitely die she mentioned that.
"How many were there?" Elijah asked.
"Two or three… dozen," Elena said.
Kol laughed. "Bloody hell! I love you a little more every day, Elena. Your broke the necks of dozens of vampires? I would give anything to see the looks on their faces when they realize it."
Elijah sighed. He didn't like this one bit. He didn't like that these vampires had dared to attack his child or that Elena had been forced to use so much magic. They were trying to keep a low profile until they were ready to face Dahlia. "That is a big display of magic."
"I know. I'm sorry, Dad," Elena said.
Elijah shook his head. "No. I don't like that it was necessary, but it isn't your fault. I always want you to do what is necessary to stay safe."
"Yes, you did well. Now, your father and I will go and murder those responsible," Klaus said.
"Uncle Nik, I know you're mad, but murder is not always the best solution," Elena said.
"But it's usually the most affective, and of course the most fun," Kol said.
"Look, I handled it. I can take care of these idiots. They're not even a threat to me," Elena said.
"Elena, I know you can take care of yourself, but you are my child. It is my instinct to protect you," Elijah said.
"I know, but I'm asking you to let me try to handle this, Dad. We're going to need allies, and the vampires might be helpful," Elena said.
"We have the witches for that," Kol said.
"That might not be an option, actually. From what little I got from the wannabe king, the witches in town might not be trustworthy. I don't know much, but I guess they killed some innocent people. Even if they are trustworthy, we need as many allies as possible," Elena said.
"Alright, for now, we'll follow your lead, but any further threats against you, and I will take action immediately," Elijah said firmly.
Elena nodded that she understood.

Marcel was on one of the balconies having a drink with his right-hand man Thierry. They were discussing the new witch and the potential threat she posed.
"We should just go after her again. We'll take more people. She took on thirty of us, but she can't take on hundreds of us," Thierry said.
Marcel shook his head. "No. I'm not risking it. This girl is strong. Today, she was amused by our attempt to take her on. I don't know that I want to find out what she'll do if we piss her off."
"You're afraid of her?" Thierry asked surprised.
"I have a healthy apprehension when it comes to her. She's strong, and she was right about one thing. I need to know more about my enemy before I go after her again," Marcel said.
"But it's not going to take long for the witches to find out that she outsmarted you. You will lose your power over them," he said.
"I'll worry about that later. Right now, I need to find out more about her. She suggested that she wasn't working with the New Orleans witches. I need to know if that's true. Go talk to your witch girlfriend and find out if she knows anything about a new witch in town," Marcel instructed.
Thierry nodded before heading back inside.
