Built For Sin (Scream 4)
Chapter 2
Kate ordered take-out instead of making dinner, it was a bit awkward at first but with full stomachs and a glass of wine, they opened up. Tatum ended up leaving to be with her girlfriend
"Where's Jill?" Amara asks, looking around noticing she was no longer in the room Sidney shrugged, getting up to look for her, and Amara followed her, sticking to the sticking together rule.
They walk down a narrow hallway until they come up to Jill's door, Sidney opens the door to Jill pulling away from a handsome young boy they didn't recognize.
"Sorry," Sidney tries to apologize but Jill cuts her off. "He's my ex and he was just leaving,"
His eyes widen when he sees Amara, "Big fan, gotta say your way prettier then the actress that plays you." He compliments her, she gives him a small smile but says nothing.
"Big fan of yours too...meant to pick up a copy of your book." he looks her up and down, "you're shorter in person." He says awkwardly before Jill gives him a look. He nods before heading out the window.
Sidney and Amara look at each other thinking the same thing. The boy reminded them of Billy and his habit of not using doors.
Jill turns back to us smiling innocently, Amara couldn't put her finger on it but it was something off about her. "What?" she asks Sidney, she snaps out her thoughts shaking her head. "You just remind me of...me," she replies.
"Lock your window," she adds, Amara stands back as she shuts the door. As they turn they jump when they see officer Judy Hicks standing in the dark.
"Why are you standing in the dark like that?" Amara questions holding her chest, hoping to ease her frantic beating heart.
"Sorry about that I was just making my rounds," she says, coming a bit more in the light.
"In the dark? Don't they give you flashlights?" Amara says slowly squinting her eyes at the deputy. "It's okay," Sidney quickly says, sensing Amara being annoyed.
"Dewey left. He's on the cell if you need him. I've got Perkins in the back and Hoss in front. Just shout." she says making Sidney and Amara nod, they were about to walk away but she stepped in their path.
"You guys don't remember me, do ya? We went to high school together. Judy Hicks. We had the same homeroom." she says slowly hoping they'll remember.
Amara's phone starts ringing"I blacked out most of high school," she tells her quickly walking away to answer the phone. "Are you on the road yet?" Stu asks. She wanted to tell them about what's going on but she knew they'd come.
"No not yet I promise I'll be there soon," she whispers into the phone. Stu groans, "Billy is getting antsy...are you sure we shouldn't come?" he offers.
"No way, this whole town knows your faces, no matter how much hair dye and scars you have they'd recognize you guys immediately" she whispers in warning.
"Fine but don't be surprised if the house is in pieces when you get back," he replies, "I love you be safe and call if anything, and I mean anything happens." Amara rolls her eyes smiling, something like glass breaks in the background, eight year old Tara runs away from seven year old Taryn, who's on a rampage trying to make her dress up.
"At least help me catch her," Stu says to Warren, who's ignoring everything around him reading a book.
"No," he answers boredly, keeping his eyes on the pages.
"Please hurry home," he begs Amara, as Taryn tackles her older sister.
"Okay... Stu Okay I will," she replies hanging up. It was crazy that no matter what they did they always managed to make her smile.
Amara turned to Jill standing in the doorway smiling. Amara crosses her arms squinting her eyes at her. "Shouldn't you be watching a movie or something?"All Amara could think was where she came from and why did she find her so creepy
"Sorry," she replies shyly walking back to her room.
As Amara heads down the stairs she runs into Jill's friend. "Hi, I'm..." Amara shakes her hand-finishing her sentence. "Kirby,"
"Your weird friend went that way," Amara says pointing behind her as she goes to find Sidney, she went to her room to see she was on the phone probably with Randy.
Loud screaming echoes from down the hall making Amara and Sidney run to Jill's room. They ran in to see Kirby and Jill screaming through the window they ran to their side. The masked killer stabbed the poor girl ruthlessly before throwing her only halfway through the window.
"Sidney don't," Amara warns but she was already out the door running next door.
The killer flipped the girl over waving his knife at them.
Amara pulls a small gun out of her boot pushing Jill and Kirby out of the way toward the door as she shoots three shots. The killer ducks in shock, running away from the window.
Amara runs out of the room heading over to the house just in time to see Sidney send a kick straight to the killer's face sending him down the stairs.
Amara aims to shoot but the officers guarding the house ran in making her point to them, she turned only for a second then back to him being gone and the back door wide open.
"Dammit!" she yells in frustration holding her forehead.
"That way," Sidney points to the back door making the officers follow.
"Jill?" Sidney calls out worried. Jill appears at the top of the stairs gripping her arm. "Don't," she breathes heavily, sliding against the wall in pain.
Amara rolls her eyes at the audacity of that little girl. It suddenly hits her that her mom still hasn't gotten back to her.
"I have to go...i'll be back," Amara tells Sidney quickly running out the door to her jeep. Amara raced home her heart pounding at the fear of losing her mother.
She approached her childhood home slowly. It was quiet...too quiet.
The door creaked open as darkness erupted, hearing a groan she moves slowly into the living room.
She slowly walked into the living room tears immediately streaked her eyes as her mother lay in the middle of the now broken glass table. Amara moves quickly to her side pulling her in her lap.
"Mom?" She quietly sobs, slightly shaking her, blood seeped from her shoulder and head but she seemed to still be breathing.
The door slams loudly making her turn, a tall, broad, cloaked Ghostface masked figure. His hand slides from the door as he pulls out a knife, and not just any knife...her knife, 'How did he get that?'
Amara pulls her mother closer fighting off tears as she pulls out her gun firing all rounds into the killer's chest, he loses his footing but doesn't fall.
He tilts his head as he starts to walk closer, seeing a familiar object, Amara grabs Betsy quickly, striking the killer in the head.
She goes to strike again but he roughly snatches the bat before breaking it in half against his knee. 'My baby,' her heart breaks at her precious weapon now broken.
Before Amara could react he grabs her throat with one hand roughly pushing her against the wall and raising her knife with the other.
Amara kicks and claws at the man but he was too strong...way too strong.
He aims the knife over her heart before lightly pressing down breaking the skin making her cry out in pain.
Five gunshots ring before the killer drops Amara as she tries to catch her breath, the killer slowly turns to Randy, his hands around the gun anger burning through his eyes for touching his sister.
"Randy run!" Amara screams but he ignores her shooting the killer a few more times, while distracted Amara runs into the kitchen grabbing a big knife.
The killer approaches Randy ready to strike but Amara strikes first stabbing the killer in the neck, blood seeps through the wound, and choked gasps as he collapses.
Randy breaths out in relief before moving to unmask him. "Nooo...no" she scolds, grabbing his ear and pulling him to her mother to help him get them out of there, Amara felt strength like that before.
He quickly picks her up bridal style as they hurry out the door and to the hospital.
Amara sat for four hours in the waiting room pacing. Tatum burst through the doors engulfing Amara in a hug.
"How is she?" she asks worriedly. Amara tries to keep tears from falling as she answers. "He roughed her up pretty bad...but she should be fine, gonna have to get stitches" she whispers her voice breaking.
"The killer was cursed, he lured me there on purpose, almost killed me" she adds in disbelief.
"I know... that's why I called Billy and Stu..." she says hesitantly ready for Amara to start yelling at her.
"You what?!" Amara shouts in disbelief, making Tatum roll her eyes.
"I had to, you almost died. I'm pretty sure you die, we all die," she clarifies, making Amara groan but she nods since they have said those words multiple times.
"By the way...Billy was not happy...so good luck with that talk," she adds sarcastically, making Amara hold her head in her hands. Great now her boyfriends were on the way, what more could go wrong she thinks to herself.
Hours Later
Amara, Randy, and Tatum sat in the waiting area waiting for Amara's mom to be out of surgery.
"Hey," she pokes Randy, making him sit up. "Thank you for saving me," she says in appreciation, making Randy wrap his arm around her. "But I have to ask...why were you there?" She was confused and it had been bugging her.
"I was following a lead, I needed to talk to your mom," Amara nods in understanding before asking another one.
"Have you met Jill? Sidney's cousin?" she asks curiously, Randy thinks for a second before shaking his head.
"Hmm, let me know what you think of her when you do," she says she didn't know why but she got a vibe.
Amara hears a familiar voice and stands up running around the corner.
"Mara," Sidney runs into Amara's arms holding her. "I'm so sorry about your mom." She hugs her tightly making her wince in pain.
Sidney steps back looking at his chest. "What happened?" she asks, concerned, grabbing her arms.
Randy walks up around the corner. "What I said would happen. Supernatural killer and it's not Billy or Stu," he states in a duh tone.
Sidney steps back shaking her head in denial, she takes a deep breath"what makes you so sure?"
"They would never hurt Amara or Christina, Billy practically saw her as a mom when Amara left," he responds, putting a hand on her arm and checking her wound.
"I know I said they weren't here, but if news got out about you I'm sure they're on their way," he warns Amara, making Sidney roll her eyes.
"You don't really think they'll come here, right Mara?" Amara was about to respond until she saw her mother's doctor coming her way and she could tell by the doctor's face something was wrong.
"What's wrong, is my mom okay?!" she questions running up to her.
" ...there's been an issue, she's fine her body has disappeared," she says slowly, making Amara's fists clench. Tatum walks up next to her wide-eyed.
"How the fuck do you lose a body?!" Amara yells running past her to her mother's room, she stops at the entrance breathing heavily. Her bed was empty, cords snatched apart and the window busted through.
She turns to the doctor lightly laughing in disbelief. "You mean to tell me no one noticed anyone carrying an unconscious woman," she says slowly making the doctor gulp.
"Find my mom, or they'll be mopping up your blood for days," she says low warningly making Tatum grab her arm pulling her away from the doctor.
Her phone beeps loudly making her pull away from Tatum reading a text from an unknown number.
COME HOME NOW.
Amara takes a deep breath turning to her friends. "I'm getting air, text if they find my mom," she demands walking past them toward the exits.
She walked to her jeep in the parking garage and jumped when she heard a scream, she looked up to see Rebecca breathing heavily relieved when she saw her.
Amara ignores her heading to her car, one thing she didn't like is users and she could tell that Rebecca was one.
Rebecca tries to stop her saying someone weird called her but Amara told her to go back into the building she could honestly care less.
As they talked the killer remained hidden, ready to strike as soon as Amara left. He wasn't going to risk hurting her based on the information his partner told him. Hurting her is a death wish, their words echoed in his brain as he watched Amara drive away finally having his prey alone again.
Amara quickly drives back to her old home. When she opened the door she's immediately hugged by Warren and Sam, now thirteen, they were her height, since Amara is so small.
Amara hugs them back, surprised to see them here and not in school "Why are you here?!" she questions a little loudly.
"Dad said grandma was in trouble," Sam shrugs like it was obvious.
"Grandma's here?!" she asks, shocked. "Yeah, we picked her up earlier." Warren says dryly, finishing cleaning up glass.
"Sam, Warren...why don't you go wait upstairs," Billy instructs, appearing behind them making Amara jump 'Oh god he looks angry,'
Sam pouts but obeys her father's orders. Warren hesitates for a moment before listening as watches them walk up the stairs until they disappear, then he turns back to Amara angry.
"Let me explain,"
"Your bleeding," he states, cutting her off as he stares at the wound, his eyes flickering red, she tries to back away but he grabs her arm pushing her against the wall. He cages her in when she tries to move.
"Just listen," she pleads but he cuts her off again. "Tatum explained. I asked you to do one thing," his voice low and cold, he holding up a finger. "One damn thing,"
"Call if anything happens, that includes murder! You could have died!" he yells in seconds Billy is roughly pushed off of her flying back and hitting the door.
Amara eyes Stu standing breathing heavily, "we agreed you wouldn't yell," he says slowly, "The twins are upstairs," he warns
"Why would you guys even bring them?!" Amara questions angrily. Stu turns to her smiling. "They wanted to help save their grandma. Plus Warren is expelled again, for taking a bat to a boy's kneecap"he says like it's normal, even Billy smiles.
"Why are you smiling like that's normal?" she asks, annoyed. "It was a boy that wouldn't leave Sam alone, he did the honorable thing," Billy defends.
"Cannot believe you guys are encouraging that behavior," she grumbles in disbelief, she suddenly notices a long scar on Stu's cheek, she cups his face surprised, "What happened?"Stu kisses her hand leaning more into it. "Small price to pay for your mom," he says weakly. Amara looks at him confused.
The door opens wide to Christina completely healed rubbing her eyes. "Guys you know this house does not have the supernatural ability to heal as you do," she scolds.
"Sorry," they both respond. Amara runs up hugging her mom tightly as tears fall.
"I'm so glad your okay,"
"Stu saved me," she smiled at him in appreciation. "You stole mom from the hospital." Amara states in disbelief, she's not even surprised anymore.
"Well We couldn't walk out the front," Billy answers in a duh tone. "Someone took the deal and now they are after you, you're both safer with us,"
"Do you guys not realize how dangerous it is having you both here?! And you brought Sam and Warren" her eyes widened in panic. "Taryn and Tara?"
"With their other grandparents," Stu answers, making Amara laugh, she was surprised when they were so willing to keep their secret if they we're able to see their grandparents.
"So they're not mad anymore?" she questions
Stu shakes his head, "No there still mad at me but they love their grandkids and agreed to keep a secret for them and you,"
"Why didn't you leave the twins with them too?"
Billy and Stu look at each other awkwardly before looking back at her, "Warren threatened to burn they're house down if we left him there,"
"Out of all the other times he threatened to burn down a house, I think he was threatening with him inside,"
"God, that's it, I'm sending him to boarding school,"
"No," Billy says immediately.
"Yes, they have a hockey team and a lacrosse team, two very violent sports that I think he'd love to play, it's not that far, we'd be able to visit and keep an eye on him but I think this will be really good for him,"
"Will just see how he feels when I ask him, and if Sam's not expelled why did she come?"
"She wasn't gonna leave her brother," Stu says in a duh tone.
"She's stubborn.. and who do you think she gets that from?" Billy, quizzes eyebrows raised.
"Enough," Amara's mom speaks up. "I'll grab Sam and Warren, will head to your house and hide out there."
Sam answers coming down the stairs holding her bear, the bear he got her at the amusement park, where she first realized he's her father."Sounds like a plan,"
"Warren? What if I told you, you can go to a school and play sports where you can be violent and not get in trouble," she offers, Warren's eyes light up.
"When do I start?" Billy looks at his son disappointed but thought on the other hand this might actually be good for him.
"We're gonna talk about the fact that you're leaving me when we get to the car," Sam grumbles at her brother who rolls his eyes.
Billy signals for her to come to him. Sam smiles, hugging him tightly, he hugs her back tighter, grabbing her head.
"I love you, Sam, don't ever forget that," he whispers, Sam pulls back, handing him her bear. "Never," she whispers back, hugging him one more time. "I need that back, when we meet back up," she tells him in a completely serious tone.
"Are you sure mom? You were so badly hurt," she says worriedly.
"Mara I am fine, come on Sam," she reaches out, taking Sam's hand as they head out the door, Warren hugs his father and uncle then his mom, before following after them.
"I hate being away from her," Billy mumbles, gripping the bear in his hand.
"The sooner we kill this guy the quicker we can be back home with all our kids," Stu says leaning against the wall.
"Stu?" Amara runs to his side holding on to him. "I'm okay babe just a little drained is all," he says but Amara wasn't convinced.
"I don't understand, you've been killing," Amara says to herself.
"Mara, each soul I take is like a life force it helps us heal and makes us strong...I gave your mom some of it so, few kills, and ill be as good as new," he says jokingly yet serious.
Amara looks at Billy who's staring at them. "I know Stu would fall back into a limbo?" she says to Stu making sure she's right, Stu nods making her skin crawl.
"Okay...so what happens to you? Since you've already been there" she asks slowly, scared of the answer.
He was about to answer but before he could Amara's phone rang loudly. "This is not over, "she scolds him.
"How did this flip around to me being in trouble?" he questions Stu in disbelief as he laughs.
Billy hits Stu in his head making him groan before approaching Amara, she ends the call taking a deep breath. "That was Tatum...Rebecca was stabbed and thrown off a building."
Billy takes a breath before answering"I'm not even gonna pretend I care who that is,"
Amara rolls her eyes, "I was with her minutes before...she said someone weird called her," she states guiltily. "I have to call Sid,"
She tries to walk away but Billy grips her arm pulling her to him, "that can wait," he says slowly taking the phone from her. "I'm sorry for yelling...I've just missed you and hearing you were hurt freaked me out,"
Amara puts an arm around his neck pulling him down for a deep kiss he wraps his hands around her waist holding her tightly before things escalate she breaks the kiss "I know...I just don't want anyone to find out your..here,"
Stu swoops Amara into his arms bridal style, "they won't. We will be careful...we just wanna find the knife and the guy who's apparently like us.
"The killer has it and What makes you so sure it's a guy?" Amara asks, she knew deep down it was but she wanted to know why they thought so.
Billy bites his lip, "No one's crazy enough to bring back my mother," he says.
Amara looks confused. "So?"
"Roman," Billy answers.
"Mickey," Stu answers.
They both stare at each other confused, they thought they were on the same page.
Next Day
Amara stood in the bathroom getting ready to meet Sidney, Gale, and Tatum at her old high school while going back and forth with Billy.
"Are you sure I shouldn't come? This killer is unpredictable," Billy argues at the entrance of the bathroom, and Amara ignores him applying makeup. She's already made up her mind.
"Amara," he addresses her by her name, making her turn to him knowing he was serious. Stu pops his head around the other side of the door.
Amara walks up to both of them telling them "I will be okay... I promise when it's dark, you guys can stalk me all you want." She promises, making Billy roll his eyes.
"Promise?" Stu says in a baby voice, making Amara laugh and then kiss him.
"Promise," she says, grabbing her purse and heading for the door.
Billy turns to Stu, hitting him in his head. "Ow! Why?" Stu questions shocked.
"You always give in to her, I tell you to back me up and instead you melt," he replies annoyed.
"Don't act like she doesn't have you wrapped around her finger too," he says teasingly, making Billy take a deep breath trying not to hit him again.
