George Hammond, Major-General in command of Stargate Command pressed pause on the screen playing the ending of the video of the interview of the strange, dangerous, alien named Tarvek. It had not been a pleasant meeting, nor a short one, and the green-skinned giant had gotten back into his walk tank of hazmat-combat suit and demanded to leave immediately afterwards. Despite wanting more…what exactly George wasn't sure, but information was up there…he'd had no choice but the send the alien on his merry way. With promises to stay away for three days, and the unspoken concern that the alien could very well be gone for that even if they stuck to their agreement. Oh, said alien was due to receive his first round of agreed upon then, but George suspected that was only seventy-thirty or sixty-forty in his favour of the man staying to receive it.

That all paled in comparison to the information the alien-man had brought, that SG-17 had returned with, and now the issue with the team itself. The fact the alien was willing to just leave potentially was a supporting factor that inclined George to believe the issues raised by said alien about the recent disaster of a mission. Which was he'd decided to meet with Janet Fraiser, the bases Chief Medical Officer, as well SG-1 owing to, hopefully, some useful information from Teal'c owning to his past. Or some revelation from Captain Carter or Doctor Jackson perhaps, however unlikely. He planned to meet the other senior SG teams as well, but SG-1 were currently here, and action was needed in the short term for SG-17. The more he consulted with his teams for his report to the Joint Chiefs, the better it would be for SG-17 he expected.

"Now, that was the combat footage received from our alien friend, as well as interviews with Mr. Tarvek. What I am to make of all this? Doctor Fraiser?"

Captain Fraiser, clad in her medical coat having come to the meeting directly giving the returned team their medical exam, sighed, making an unhappy face a moment before resting a hand on her notes "As it stands General…SG-17 are in perfect health, no visible injuries beyond some bruising where being carried by an alien in tank-suit. Nor do scans show any signs of signs of anything similar to a gou'al symbiote presence, nor its aftereffect"

Captain Carter winced slightly at that George noted, not unexpected as the doctor glanced at her, memories of the Tok'ra still there even if it had worked out for the best. Too often things had worked out for the best rather than as planned George worried at times as head of Stargate Command. Times such as now, when they had, in the team had survived, but might not as there was a potential persistent problem to be dealt with. Which was why he followed up "Our ally's stated concerns?"

His chief medical officer took a breath, hands taking the printed documents into hand, but not opening them as she seemed to consider opening them "Are too specific to be not considered. To be entirely honest General…there are human specific parts to these documents he's supplied. In that I'm sure the actual document itself is larger, and this is just…"

She paused, flipping pages "It reads like something I wrote for your approval, or, well….if I was instructed to give a field manual to the a SG-team for instance"

"Yes, and that's not a good thing, when I'm very sure our new friend didn't write any such thing" Doctor Jackson interjected, or perhaps added onto as Janet seemed relieved by him talk, the man tapping his pencil off his notes as George suspected he did when agitated "It backs up the original hypothesis that he is from a larger organisation for his people..."

Colonel O'Neill gave a bemused look, being…himself really, and while annoying, Jack was good at what he did so, like his team, George was inclined to allow the open talk to get opinions. Opinions yielded more knowledge often, and therefore more options as well "Oh, the Jolly Green Giant isn't the Scholarly Green Giant Danny?"

"No Jack, he's the Jolly Green You" Doctor Jackson replied immediately, shaking his head, then nodding to his other team member beside Jack O'Neil "Or maybe Teal'c, though I don't think he is or was overly high in the command structure. Nor a scientist, educated, yes, but you too have an education Jack, don't play dumb….and he reacted like you or several of the other officers on the teams would"

"Indeed?" George sat back, allowing the interplay to continue, clarifying some matters as Teal'c spoke "The Gou'ald have not encountered his kind, nor these entities…though there legends of such. You believe he is a warrior then?"

"Special Forces probably, doing something like we are, save on his own…maybe? Explains the suit…"

"Doctor" George interjected, as Doctor Jackson was being distracted and likely to get overfocused on something and forgetting what he meant to say "This concerns you?"

"Oh?" Jackson blinked "Ah, yes. It's possibly concerning for the same reason Sam was glaring at screen as our new friend was trying to explain concepts. He's clearly not a technical expert on the subject, but he's clearly trained in such things, and was gauging our level of knowledge. Then adjusted for at various stages"

Doctor Jackson winced, Captain Carter make a frown, or perhaps a glower as she sat forward, arms on the table, then sighing "What Daniel means he was dumbing us down, at three occasions"

"Oh?" Colonel O'Neill mused "Where did end up?"

Captain Carter glowered at no-one, or perhaps the Colonel, Doctor Jackson making his 'ahh, not the best' face from George's opinion "Somewhere between, today's lesson children is this is the colour blue, and A is for Apple"

"Asking me to describe radiation cavemen then?" Colonel O'Neill put forward, hand waving, Teal'c nodding in agreement as Doctor Jackson shrugged, while Captains Carter and Fraiser glanced at each other, then nodded in agreement "Magic beams you no see, make sick, make die! Leave bad place!"

"Yes Colonel, something like that"

George agreed with Captain Carter's reply, and the issues with that situation, and it was something he was inclined to agree with…and opened up more cans of worms that the Joint Chiefs, and the President, were absolutely going to hate. Unfortunately it was simply part of the package of attempting to explore space at their level of technology, and the very dangers they were encountering through the Stargate was merely more proof of how far they were beneath those threat, but also how much they had to seek out aid "Teal'c, you said would have only heard stories of such things?"

"Indeed General Hammond" the stoic jaffa replied "But if such things were encountered it would not strange for the Gou'ald, as false gods, to attempt hide proof of their falsity…as encountering such an entity as this would present"

George could easily imagine that, with most, if not all, System Lords, simply shouting 'Jaffa Kree!' and sending waves through the Stargate till they lost enough, got bored, and returned to tormenting their slaves. Even Teal'c's level of education, and he'd been a First Prime, had surprising gaps in it for what was, effectively, such a high-ranking officer "I'm hearing then that the general recommendations in these supplied documents are potentially beneficial. Or, perhaps, essential for seeing to the health and well-being of one of teams?"

Janet looked weary all of a sudden, but nodded, having opened a page, clearly reading from it "….Memetic hazards are a potential side effect, or even direct effect, of such non-corporeal attacks. Care should be taken by trained medicus, mental health officers, and spiritual advisors to watch for changes during the quarantine period, with physical, mental, and spiritual cleansing a priority for the effected personnel"

She looked, cutting off and tapping it with her fingers "There's a series of recommended actions here, some a little religious than I'd expected in a such a document, but the fact it's talking about such things called memetic and info hazards, down to monitoring the people monitoring the quarantine indicates a genuine concern. As we've discovered with the Gou'ald's parasitic control….but because we weren't aware of it, doesn't mean it can't affect us. I'm very inclined to recommend we put SG-17 on some variation of this regime as per our own quarantine protocols General. And, while I'm aware of technical requirements, and of intelligence concerns, I feel that the addition of body-cameras might be a necessity on missions. SG-17 were unaware of their loss of mental control. It's a problem I'm aware, but the supplied footage by the alien is the only reason we know about this mental attack"

The unspoken concern that such a situation of possession potentially happening, or having already happened without their knowledge, was a concern now. Let alone the fact a civilization out there had some means of actively measuring things like Willpower, or perhaps having studied matters George might have considered the domain of priests or philosophers rather than soldiers of scientists "I'll put your recommendation forward Doctor. I'm also guessing you want us to get more information off our new friend?"

"Even if he's just a dumb grunt?" Colonel O'Neill offered with a bemused smirk, then sat forward, with a serious look "I'd say SG-1s recommendation is yes to that General. Give him the supplies he's been promised, and hope he doesn't up and leave too soon"
