Warning! While this arc will not include graphic descriptions of torture, it also is not going to be a fluffy bunny arc. In the Lover's Walk episode Spike returned to Sunnydale intending to hurt the people he saw as responsible for his and Drusilla's breakup, Buffy and Angel. He got sidetracked by the idea of Willow using Magic to make Drusilla come back to him.
I preferred Spike the way Joss intended him to be, the vampire who called himself the 'Big Bad' he was way more interesting than the brooding Angel 2.0 he became. According to an interview James Masters, the actor that played Spike gave, so did he. And despite what fans believe, Spike didn't have a redemptive arc. I found an interview James gave where he said Joss told him to play the whole trial by demon thing as Spike going to get the chip removed so he could be free to be a monster again. Not even the actor knew Joss was planning to have Spike get his soul.
So mind the rating and the drama/angst description on this story because Spike is going to be the 'Big Bad' he's so proud of being.

Spike woke up with a headache, but what else could you expect when you'd been drinking almost nonstop as long as he had. Ever since he'd caught Dru with that Chaos Demon and she said he stank of the Slayer.
Well, let's see who stank after he'd tortured the Slayer for awhile. And still no Angel, had he moved or something? Pretty sure the Slayer was still in her pretty little house with her pretty mother though. It was a place to start anyway, so Spike took himself off to Revello Drive and waited for the Slayer to come out. He was rather surprised when he realized how late it was and she still hadn't come out. When the lights were turned out in the house he wondered if she was just waiting until her mum was in bed, but still she didn't come out and he was getting frustrated.
Joyce didn't know a vampire was watching her home, she was too busy worrying about Buffy anyway. Buffy hadn't spoken since yesterday when the lawyer had informed her that Angel had been destroyed by a hunter team from the Watchers Council. She moved like a ghost through the house, she ate when Joyce placed food in front of her, but it was mechanical. Most of the time she just laid on her bed and stared at the ceiling. The lawyer was recommending an evaluation and Joyce was afraid of what the doctors would say. What kind of hold did this Angel have on her daughter, because Buffy seemed totally lost without him. And yet from what she'd been able to find out Buffy had seen him less than a dozen times over the course of nearly a year before that curse had broken and he'd begun terrorizing her. Finally Joyce went to bed and tossed and turned worrying about her daughter and Buffy's state of mind.
Spike had remembered that the little blond Slayer had invited him into her home back during the Acathla business. He wondered if that invitation was still in effect and decided to try it by following her scent to the open second story window with no screen on it and found the little Slayer laying on the bed, asleep. He climbed in and a few minutes later climbed back out, after making sure she'd stay out for awhile. He jumped down to the ground with his prize slung over his shoulder and returned to the Mansion, where he used the chains on the wall to secure her and waited for her to wake up. He wanted to have a conversation with her before he got to the torture part of this night.
Being a Slayer, Buffy wasn't unconscious long and she came to quickly and saw Spike watching her. Through the fog of grief she realized she was in trouble but couldn't really make herself care. Even when Spike realized she was awake and began to drunkenly ramble about all his problems. Which were somehow her fault.
"It was that truce with you that did it. I told her I was thinking of her the whole time, just wanted her safe, that's all. But she didn't care, I gave her everything, beautiful jewels, beautiful dresses with beautiful girls in them, but nothing made her happy. And she would fliiirt! And then she just left. She didn't even care enough to cut off my head or set me on fire. I mean, is that too much to ask? You know? Some little sign that she cared? It's all your fault, Slayer. You just had to set Angelus free and she wanted him more than me. What the Hell does a Slayer want with a vampire anyway? Slayers hunt vampires, vampires kill Slayers. That's how it's supposed to be, right?"
"I thought so." Buffy mumbled. "Angel was different though."
"Where is he anyway? I want a word with my Grandsire."
"Dead, they killed him. Took him away from me. They're taking everything away from me."
Spike latched onto the part that mattered to him. "Angel's dust? And I don't get to torture him?!"
"Gone forever, he came back to me from Hell and now he's gone forever."
"Hell, huh? Bet you'd like to join him."
"I'm already there."
"Not yet, Slayer. Let's see what we can do about that."
