'Don't open your eyes and don't look down if you do' Janet Fraiser repeated silently in her own head as her alien travelling companion did his best impression of the Rocketeer. All while holding her in a damnable bridal carry as they whooshed and rumbled from rooftop to rooftop in terrifyingly bumpy leaps rather than a smooth flight path from where they'd been, to where the girl was. No, instead it was fly, hover, jump, land…followed by more 'jumps' from one roof, jetpack igniting, as that was 'fuel efficient' he said. Fucking fuel efficient he said.

Thankfully, eventually, the uncomfortable flight came to an end…

Albeit with another thud, mixed with a girl screaming in Japanese at them…the girl who'd she'd come to look after having woken up. And was now being terrorised by the giant flying robot-man as best Janet could follow from reading the translation coming into her ear thanks to Tarvek's alien translator device. That part Janet realised she hadn't exactly thought through – they were turning up like alien stormtroopers despite her own view to come help. Tarvek was grumbling about that, quietly, as he landed, and Janet ensured the rifle was lowered as she opened her eyes, see the wild eyed school girl waving a…metal bar…about, or maybe swinging and then point.

"….off! I'll brain ya if you come near! I swear I will!"

"We're friendly! We want to help" Janet began ensuring her weapon was now moved to being slung over her right shoulder, her hands out and showing they were empty. She, at least, had an open glass-like screen helmet, that was showing 'tactical information' on it as Janet held her hands out, Tarvek towering over her while standing not helping the image of non-threateningness though.

"Yes" and neither did Tarvek as he stated that stoic, yet somehow threatening, statement "We are not your foes"

'This day' almost seemed to be implied by that somehow, the girl retreating a step, holding up the metal bar while wild eyes darted around her. Oddly the girl had almost blonde hair, marking her as perhaps half-Caucasian as she was paler skinned than was expected perhaps, and she did seem to have English…

"FUCK OFF! LEAVE LONE FUCKHEADS!"

…of a sort.

"Please, there's dangers here, and…"

…and then Tarvek stepped in. Voice over Janets, causing her to wince at the words "Girl. If we meant you harm, then you would be harmed by now. Calm yourself! If you wish us to leave you here, alone, wherever this is, then we shall. You will likely die, but that is your business"

"Tav" she hissed, audibly, in the fake name they were to use "That is not helping"

Because the girl was clearly frightened by that…

But she lowered the metal bar, just a fraction, looking at Tarvek's colossal, armoured, form, fidgeting and looking…well, just around her. Like a cornered deer maybe. Lowered the metal pipe another fraction, speaking in Japanese "Right…okay, that makes sense. Why…where have you taken me? What is…"

"We have done nothing to you" Tarvek stated again, standing still "We do not know where this place is, nor why the city is almost completely empty. We had aimed to gathered answers when we spotted you when you arrived"

"When I arrived, fuck you mean…"

"You…appeared here" Janet managed to get in, hands still held up "On the rooftop. You weren't there one moment, and then there the next. The city, as my companion said, is nearly deserted. We came to see if you were okay?"

"Sure you did" came the distrustful tone, laced with fear that hurt Janet on a emotional level, not just at the fear, but the fact the girl's response seemed oddly…automatic "Just wanted to…help"

"My companion did" Tarvek, again being Tarvek, stated simply "If you do not want our aid, then that is fine, then we shall leave you to your fate. You clearly have no answers to questions"

"Wait….no!" came back after a moment, the metal pipe lower "Like…where the fuck is this? Where are we?"

"We don't know" Janet answered, motioning at herself, then gesturing again "Look…I'm Janet, and this is Tav, and I know this sounds unhelpful considering how we appear, but there are dangerous looking men around here"

…yes, they did deserve the 'of course there are' stare back, but the girl had to be warned. Especially as Tarvek had limited interest in helping if the girl didn't want that help. But she was child, a teenager in her school uniform, so Janet had a responsibility here to see to the poor thing's safety. The fact she was cornered now was bad for convincing her of their good intentions, but it was keeping her momentarily safe at the very least, Janet still trying to keep a calm, but friendly, tone, hands held out as she took a step forward "And your name?"

The girl's eyes watched her warily, but were flicking a towering robot-like Tarvek, glaring, biting her lip, and then groaning as the pipe's end tapped off the ground as she lowered it fully "Mayuko Nise, I'm…that's me. You'll just leave me here if I ask?"

"Yes"

"Tav!"

"We will" Tarvek answered her irritated response to his simple statement "You have my word. But…my companion here is correct. This city is….something is wrong here. Very wrong. I would rate your odds of survival as low as we are in combat armour, and armed, and you are…"

A mild cough "Young scholar clad in a cloth shirt, skirt, and poor-quality footwear armed with a cleaning pipe of some-sort"

Janet…sighed as the girl gave him a blank look, then look at the 'weapon' in her hand, slumping "These sneakers cost a ton of yen! But…ugh, okay. Point to you giant robot man. Now…what?"

"If you stay with us, at least you might stay safe till…we find a way out to where you were from" Janet answered for them, as it was clear that the girl was from a 'normal' Earth at least, and that was preferable to…wherever the hell this was "If you could answer some questions, we could try that, correct, Tav?"

"Yes, somewhere not so exposed as here. There is…" Tarvek stopped mid-sentence, head scanning around for something, helmeted head looking towards…maybe an entrance to the building "Behind me. Now. There is something coming this way"

Completely ignoring the afraid girl, or, perhaps speaking authoritatively as the girl actually seemed to listen while Tarvek ensured Janet was behind him, while the blonde Japanese girl was to his side rather than directly behind him as Janet was. His somewhat paranoid view of things at work, even without his suit having sensors or something that was like eyes in the back of his head. There was a danger clearly so, her rifle raising was instinctive almost, eyes flicking to the girl to ensure she was safe if there was some trouble as something had him edge.

Followed by footsteps a minute later, a masked man with a smiley face upon, dressed in a chef's outfit maybe, but more importantly carrying a knife in each hand, speaking in Japanese "Servings Ready!"

"Be wary" Tarvek growled "There is something wrong with him"

Wrong with Tarvek saying it likely didn't mean just crazy, as Tarvek's opinions on such things seemed to vary greatly from normal societies. The statement then likely meant dangerous in some hard to explain way, and it was good his armoured bulk was standing before them as the masked maybe-chef started at them…

"You are very big"

{Unknown Armed Entities Encountered} a…female?...voice seemed to be picked up by Janet's suit, transcribing the words to her ears {Safeties Limited. Aggression Maximised}

Then the masked man rear up in a way, arms in the air in a strange, back bending morion, knives slashing the air, roaring out "DINNERS UPPPPPP!"

…and then flung one of the knives at the girl to the side of Janet. Too fast for her to react, or Janet either, the blade flashing towards the girl's head…

Ssshhhhtinnnkkkkkkkkk

…only for Tarvek's armoured hand to flash to the side, armoured arm a blur as it impacted the blade the side, those shields of his flaring a moment as the knife was suddenly sent flying into the wall beside them. Janet started to raise her rifle to aim, to shoot, but the masked chef was charging forward, along a red heat haze seeming to rise off his body as he moved. Unnaturally fast moment, howling out as he charged at them, the blonde girl reacting by throwing herself behind Tarvek while flinging her pipe at the masked chef. The movement startled Janet, used to seeing the marines back in the SGC move, and yet this heavyset man seemed to be in front of Tarvek from one moment to the next, knife stabbing….

'Huh?' only for the thing to end in a flash. Tarvek's armed hand having dropped his massive chain-gun rifle thing, raising up and catching the knife holding hand. Crushing it visibly, but the masked man didn't even scream, trying to punch the armed giant while Janet watched the orc's other armoured hand grab the mask on the man's head with a vice-like looking grip. Then…

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

…a howling, agonised scream as the mask was ripped away. The strange heat haze vanishing as the mask came free, the chef looking just to be an ordinary Asian man. Yet…

Tarvek took one look at the mask in his hand, front and back. Then snarled something incomprehensible, crushing the mask in his armoured hand. Completely ignoring the Japanese man now mindlessly slamming his face into the armoured chest of her travelling alien friend. Blood splattered as Janet took a step back at the mindless fury, then the man stopping as he clearly killed himself by constantly smashing his face into the armoured suit.

What the hell was going on….
