Chapter 2
Currently Luke was looking over the readouts that his information collector VI had made for him. The virtual intelligence had been running for a couple of days now and ran scans over publicly available sources of information such as PHO in order to create profiles for everyone. It helped a lot with real time tracking of the people he needed to keep an eye on.
The best part it wasn't illegal, he had his law keeper VI verify, due to all the information being public he could use it at will. Sure it would be frowned upon by most of the general public but if they didn't want there information on the internet they shouldn't have put it there.
Using the information that his collector VI had compiled and his Database VI had sorted and cross referenced, his virtual intelligences began to make profiles on everyone within the Brockton bay area. With help from his knowledge of the story he also began to look in to the civilian lives of the different rogues, heroes and villains that lived in the city. After all the unwritten rules are unwritten for a reason and therefore have no influence on a warden of prisoners.
He also made a PHO account under the name Warden. After all he was going to be as transparent as he could without compromising his position as the warden. And having a way to communicate with the general public would be a good step to do that.
In the background his administration AI was hard at work teaching the different VI about there roles and giving them the information they would need to succeed in there dedicated positions.
For example his psychologist VI would need to learn about human behaviour and the different states of minds in order to help the people under there care to come out of this time within the facility with a healthier mind set and a less destructive outlook on life. That was especially important for capes as they had deep seated trauma from there trigger event that most never got over.
The administration AI was also creating schedules for patrols within the facility. Creating access levels for the different amenities that the inmates could access and creating schedules for the future inmates, so that they wouldn't get bored and in turn increase the risk of them becoming violent.
Laying back in his chair, Luke thought about his plans. He felt he was ready to begin and show himself to the world. Doing last minute checks of all systems he got a notification from his AI . New information had just come in that the undersiders had hit the ABB's casino and where seen by some members of the public being chased by lung.
Opening a portal from the entrance of the facility to the sky's of Brockton Bay he let his capture drones out in order to monitor the situation more closely and hopefully make the final capture of Lung.
Relaxing himself with some high grade tea, Luke monitored with a relaxed mind after all he was safe. There was nothing to worry about. Even if the plan failed, he could just try again another time.
[Lisa Wilburn / Tattletale]
She really hated her boss. He was a bastard of the highest order. She hated that he recruited her at gun point. She hated that he controlled every part of her life and was always one step ahead of her plans to escape from his clutches. But most of all she hated that right now she was on a mission. A mission that he sent her on. A mission that ended with her team being chased by a giant rage dragon through the streets of ABB territory.
So yes she hated her boss but he was still the best chance of escaping this situation with everyone alive and relatively unharmed.
As bitch's dogs continued to harass Lung she got another message from her boss. 'Go right at the next intersection'.
Indicating to Grue, they rode as fast as they could.
Suddenly, whilst she was looking around on high alert for any surprises, she noticed something in the sky's high above her.
Her power immediately took that information and ran with it.
Objects appear to be drones. Drones are tinker tec. Drones not in style of any known tinker. New tinker highly likely. Drones are doing reconnaissance. Drones are monitoring Undersiders. Drones are monitoring Lung. Drones are armed. Armed drones capabilities unknown.
'Great an unknown. Probably a new a fresh trigger however the tech looked a bit too well developed fore the tinker to be super new. They probably took a bit of time to build up before they went out.'
Thinking of what this meant. The Undersiders kept running.
A few minutes later the situation changed. Lung had focused on someone different. On the top of a near by building stud a feminine figure dressed in a dark black costume , grey armour looking plates and a mask that looked like the face of a spider.
Lung was being swarmed by bugs. Bugs of all types flew and crawled all over the dragon. Hundreds no thousands of bugs came from the nearby surrounding and swarmed the cape.
Lisa's power refocused.
Unknown parahuman. Master type. Controls bugs. Parahuman nervous. Not showing it. Emotional suppression. Bugs controlled getting more aggressive in response to fear. Movement efficient to dodge attacks. Parahuman can use bugs senses. Range unknown.
'Another new cape. Were the tinker and this new cape connected?'
As this new situation developed Lisa gestured and the rest of the Undersiders followed her lead to move away and hide so that they could watch the developing situation.
As the battle went on Lungs movements became more and more sluggish. Lisa's power chimed in with that Lung was being poisoned and couldn't ramp up fast enough to burn away the venom from the clearly venomous bugs.
Before long Lung was defeated and lay unconscious on the floor.
There was a moment of silence where the shocking results were processed.
A clearly new cape had taken down the most dangerous cape in the city. The man who had fought leviathan to a standstill. The man who had at times fought the full force of the protectorate and defeated them.
That man had been defeated by a cape, that by her powers reckoning was on her first night out.
Before the Undersiders could do anything, the drones that had been watching this entire situation moved.
A group of five drones descended from the sky and approached the new cape.
In a loud, clearly synthesised voice, one of the drones spoke.
"Unknown parahuman. Congratulations for defeating the parahuman known as Lung. We will be taking the parahuman Lung into custody. Do not worry we have recorded the full events of the evening. You will be credited for the capture. Thank you for your time. Do you wish to ask any questions"
The clearly stunned girl couldn't react when two drones levitated the unconscious Lung into the air and opened a portal, depositing the body within and returned to surveying the area.
This snapped the cape out of whatever shock she was in. And finally responded to the drone.
"Who are you. What are you doing. You can't just take him, he needs to be collected by the authorities."
The drone, clearly not flustered responded immediately.
"Unknown parahuman. We are drones created by the cape known as Warden, we do not care for the so called proper authorities. They have a track record indicating that parahumans captured by them will escape from there custody. As such our organisation was created in order to hold prisoners that are captured."
Saying this the drone then said.
"Unknown parahuman. What is your designation. Please state your name, intended role and or affiliations for the record"
The new cape didn't know how to respond.
"Erm, I don't exactly have a name yet. It's my first night out after all and I'm an independent hero"
She seamed to straighten up as she finished, getting more confident as she continued to speak.
"Very well, unknown parahuman. For our records you have been designated as 'weaver', due to your clear use of a bug control parahuman ability. If you wish to change this designation or have any other enquiries, please contact us through the parahumans online website under the account 'Warden'. We shall be making the events of this confrontation public through that site too. Good bye, Weaver and have a good night"
After saying that the drones flew through a newly opened portal in the air and left the scene.
All Lisa could think was 'What The Fuck'.
[Luke Hunter / Warden]
Making his way to the hospital facility, Luke pondered the nights events. Lung had been captured and was currently being held within the hospital due to the amount of venom that had been delivered into his body. Normally that wouldn't have been an issue due to his power allowing him to regenerate this type of damage but within the prison his powers were turned off so this step was needed.
In addition to the capture of Lung he had also captured thirty two members of the ABB gang that had crimes ranging from assault, rape, and murder.
Over all this operation was a rousing success. He had to do minimal work to gain a powerful cape that would give him a sizeable income within the shop and allow him to develop further.
Coming to the prisoners ward, the doors automatically opened for him. Inside one of the private rooms was Lung. He had been stripped down and put in the prison uniform of a breathable cotton white t-shirt and cotton black pants. He also had a white half face mask to protect his identity within the prison due to his cape status.
After all Warden did like the principle unwritten rules and capes would feel safer if there identity wasn't intentionally exposed upon being captured by him.
Before he had stepped into the room. Lung had been thrashing at his restraints trying to escape however when he came in he had calmed down and began to stair at him. Clearly waiting for him to speak.
"Hello Lung, I am Warden, the owner and leader of this facility. You have been captured after your failed confrontation with the cape temporarily known as weaver. Due to your many crimes you will be held here for quite a bit of time I'm afraid. You are being charged with multiple counts of murder, assault, rape and multiple other minor crimes. Due to me not having the backing of the United states Government or any of its subsidiary governing bodies, I am unable to hold you to there sentencing guidelines however my power has provided you with a maximum sentence of three years which may be reduced with good behaviour. Do you have any questions?"
Lung to his credit kept a calm exterior. But you could see the anger that raged behind his indifferent expression.
After a period of silence where lung did not speak Luke continued "After a period of time, sufficient enough to reassure this facility that you will not have any further complications from your previously sustained injuries, you will be relocated to the main housing complex. Before I go there are something's that you will need to be informed of. Whilst within this facility your powers have been disabled, with good behaviour you may have them turned back on as it is one of the perks for inmates who give us there cooperation. That being said any braking of the rules, which you will be informed of before your leave of the medical wing, will be met with harsh punishment. Thank you for your time and I hope that you will have a happy and productive stay with us."
With that said Luke left the medical wing and returned to his office to watch the reactions to the news he was about to publish.
