Chapter five: Too Much to Lose
Tony was playing with his daughter. The mischievous Morgan had snuck into the garage and found one of his old helmets. Currently, he was sneaking up on her in a game of hide and seek. He scooped her up from behind, tickling her. She laughed as he gently removed the helmet from her head.
"What did I say about going in the garage?" He chastised playfully. She didn't answer, because at that moment a car drove down the driveway. That's odd. Still holding his daughter, Tony walked towards the house, following the visitors.
It was none other than his all time favorite traitor, Steve Rogers. In hindsight, he could see why Steve did what he did. If it had been Rhodey, would he have chosen Rhodey over Cap? Maybe... Probably... Okay fine, yes he would. "I'm sorry Tony, but he's my friend." "So was I."
There was another guy with him as well. Ant-Man.
"Morgan, why don't you go find your mother." Steve's posture screamed this was serious.
"What are you guys doing here?"
"Tony."
"Cap."
"Oh hi! I'm Scott Lang. We met at the airport. I'm Ant-Man, the guy who shrunk and then got really big-"
"Yeah yeah yeah, I know who you are. Why are you guys here?"
"Tony, Scott was supposedly snapped."
"Given that he's right here, I'm guessing there was a mistake."
"Right, so I've been in something called the Quantum Realm for the past five years except for me it was actually five hours. So, what we were thinking is we can enter the Quantum Realm at one point in time and exit at another point of time."
"Wai-wai-wait time travel? That's your marvelous plan?" Time travel. Since when was he the sane one?
"No, well, yes but you make it sound insane."
"Because it is. Look, Pep's making lemonade, you're welcome to stay, so long as you don't talk shop."
...
Of course, that didn't last long. Luckily, Morgan saved him. It didn't matter. Steve had planted the bug, piqued his curiosity. Curiosity killed the cat. He had to much to lose."But would you rest?" No. That's why he was driving to the Avengers compound at two in the morning. With Steve's shield. The sad thing was. he wasn't surprised.
A/N: Less than 500 words is pretty sad, though I just had no clue how to write this scene. It was the first time writing from Tony's POV and it's been awhile since I've seen Endgame, but enough excuses. And as far as Covil War goes, I'm Team Cap, so hope it didn't show too much.
