The Bewilderbeasts nest
Morning
I couldn't wait to explore the ice nest some more so the second I woke up I immediately got ready for the day and before we knew it we were all at the nest with the map of the maze that was the inside of the nest in my hand. I turned around to face my dragons that were standing in a row with the sled right behind them incase we found anything worth taking back. Anyway I smiled at my dragons and said.
"Okay guys I don't want anybody lost in this nest so stick together and if you get separated just find your way to the giant Bewilderbeats skeleton and we'll come pick you up. Understood?" They all growled in understanding before we began our entrance into the caverns of the nest.
Ten minutes later
We slowly walked into the darkness as the ice walls reflected the light of my lanterns flame. I retraced my steps from yesterday to where we found the skeleton hoping to see if he was on to something before he died. We searched for another five minutes before we finally found him. I kneeled in front of him and rubbed my chin in thought as I asked.
"Who were you?" I then stood up and took out the map of the nest and determined where we are on it. I decided we should go to the nearest X on the map. "Okay all we've got quite a few places to check out on this map so let's get going and remember stick together because I don't want anyone getting lost."
They all growled in understanding before we continued our track. It wasn't long before we were coming up on one of the places with an X on the map. I held up my hand up to signal my dragons to stop, as right in front of us was a dark cave. I walked over to Toothless and said.
"Okay bud, light it up." He then proceeded to light up the cave before we all stumbled back in shock and horror because we had just stumbled onto a dragon graveyard that was littered with the skeletons of dead dragons. I looked at my dragons and said. "Sorry you had to see this guys." They crooned in forgiveness before we left that area.
One hour later
We were now on our way to the final X on the map and I hope this one is better than the last few since after the dragon graveyard the other X's turned out to be a wall of frozen Vikings, a small cliff which I nearly fell down and the Bewilderbeast skeleton. I looked at my dragons as we walked down a tunnel with light shining at the end of it as I said.
"Okay guys let's hope this part has something that we'll actually enjoy seeing."
We continued to walk until we reached the end where after a few seconds of blinding light I saw what had to be the most beautiful thing in this entire frozen wasteland. In front of me was a huge area full of plant life and ice pillars covered in plants. It must have been where the dragons stayed since this area was big enough to hold hundreds and a full-grown Bewilderbeast. (AN: Think of Valkas dragon sanctuary without any dragons in it since this nest was abandoned after the Alpha's death.) I looked around amazed at this place before smiling and saying.
"I think we'll be moving our campsite." The dragons growled in approval. "However we better check this place out before we do anything." They growled in approval before I mounted Toothless. "Let's go." We then took off to explore this nests little sanctuary.
We were landed in front of a river that running through the sanctuary before I kneeled down and took a sip from it using my hands and smiled as I said.
"Perfectly clean and drinkable." I turned to my dragons. "We should continue checking this place out for more useful stuff for camp." They growled in understanding before I mounted Toothless and we took off. I decided we should first see where the river leads so I steered Toothless down the river. When we got to the end what we saw was amazing. The river fell down an edge to create what a beautiful waterfall that falls into a large crystal blue lagoon that sparkled in the light. I smiled and had Toothless hover over the lagoon as I said.
"This place has potential. Okay guys let's find a place to land and check out the rest of this place." They growled in agreement before we took off to find a place to land so we could finish exploring this place.
1 hour later
I just finished setting up my tent in the abandoned nest and smiled before looking around and said.
"These remaining days are going to be cool."
In the time we'd been here I discovered some of the vegetation is edible, a place to set up camp by the lake which was full of fish so I wouldn't have to leave to get food and it would be a lovely thing to wake up to in the mornings, there is also another lake but this one was a little smaller and warmer for some reason so I could swim in it and by it was a hot spring so I could enjoy a nice hot bath again. All in all I was pretty happy with this place for a campsite but I would still go out into the cold to explore it some more since there might still be some stuff out there.
Afternoon
I was laying against Toothless looking up at the ice that formed the roof of the nest and let out a sigh in content. For me it was rare to find such peace in my life after all the hardships I've gone through in my past it can be tough. I closed my eyes and then let my mind drift to my past after I left that retched village and those who made my life a living hell. I smiled as I let out a sigh of content before I eventually let my mind relax and just enjoyed the sounds of the waterfall. Eventually after a few minutes I decided go for a swim in the warm water of the smaller lagoon. So I got up and walked over to the lagoon before removing all my armor and the shirt I was wearing underneath the armor leaving me in nothing but my pants. Then without hesitation I ran and jumped right into the water. When I broke the surface again I sprayed some water out of my mouth and laughed before I began swimming around since I wasn't able to enjoy a swim that often in the village without being thrown out of the water by the rest of my generation or have them push me out of their way and into the mud saying that the water was only for the real Vikings. There was also the time I went swimming with this other heir named Dagur who is completely deranged and tried to drown me with the help of the twins. I shook my head trying to forget those days of the past and enjoy the present so I just laid my back on the water and let myself float. It was at that moment when I felt completely and utterly relaxed. It was like the rest of the world didn't even exist. Sadly my time of complete relaxation was ruined when out of nowhere I felt an electric shock shoot up my body before I was launched into the air screaming in both fright and pain. Fortunately my dragons heard my scream and Toothless caught me before I hit the water with my other dragons right behind him. I let out deep breaths of shock and said.
"Thanks bud. Something in the water just sho-"
I was cut off by when a thing that I believed was the thing that attacked me jumped out of the water with what seemed to be electricity running between it jumped at us. Fortunately Toothless dodged it but as the creature was diving back into the water Berg was able to blast the end of its tail freezing it completely while the creature let out a shriek of pain. I turned to Berg and said.
"Nice shot big guy." He growled in approval before we heard a screech. I looked towards the area and found the creature pulling itself on to land. I patted Toothless' head and said.
"Take us down near it."
He flew us down near the creature before I dismounted him and began to approach the creature. As I got closer I began to recognize it as some type of dragon with blue scales, two heads with pointed noses, a row of dorsal fins going down each head and a body that resembled a fish I read about known as a manta ray. I slowly approached the dragon as I gently said.
"Easy there guys I just want to get a better look at you." As I got closer the heads turned to me and glared before running electricity between them and glaring threateningly at me. I held my hands up. "Easy guys." They then touched their heads together before a large blast of electricity erupted throwing me back. I slowly got back up from the blast. "Okay did not know you could do that." I saw the heads shaking confused so I said. "I guess you didn't know you could do that either." I then began walking slowly towards the dragon. "Easy now guys." I held out my arms. "See I'm unarmed. Still got nothing on me but my pants."
The heads looked at me unsure but still let me approach them. It wasn't until I was in arms reach did they start to growl. I knew that this meant they felt I was close enough so I just held my hands out and turned away. A few seconds later I felt their pointed noses against my hands. I smiled and looked at them. I lifted my hands up and gave their heads a pat before I saw their tale was still frozen. I frowned and said.
"Sorry about the frozen tail. Berg was just protecting me." They growled in understanding before I signaled Toothless over though the heads did need some assurance from me that he wasn't going to hurt them. Once they had calmed down I pointed Toothless to the ice on the tail and said.
"Melt that ice with a low burn but be careful because the last thing we want is to burn the tail." He growled in understanding before gently he let out a low flame on the ice slowly cracking and melting it. After a few seconds the ice cracked down the middle and fell apart as the dragon let out a growl of relief. I smiled at the heads and said. "Bet that feels better now." The heads growled in approval. I then remembered I had yet to name them so I rubbed my chin in thought and said. "Now what to name you guys?" I kneeled down and asked. "How about we go with Zap and Ray. Since you guys like to zap things with electricity and you guys resemble a type of fish I've read about know as a manta ray. So what do you guys think of those names?" They growled in approval and nuzzled my chest. I chuckled before I motioned my other dragons forward and said. "Come over here guys and help me welcome the newest members to our team." They all walked over and growled a bit at each other, which I'm guessing, was their way of talking.
After they were done Zap and Ray went back into the water and started swimming around as I watched before joining in with him. And that's pretty much how the rest of our day went me swimming with Zap and Ray strengthening the bond between us of course they also spoke with my other dragons slowly forming a friendship. By the end of the day I felt the dragons were becoming good friends while me, Zap and Ray were slowly but surely forming a strong bond like the ones I had with my other dragons. The night ended with Zap and Ray going below the water to rest while Berg built a little ice nest for himself, Shard and Blizzard while me and Toothless rested in my tent.
2 days later
I was sitting down with Toothless staring at the warm water lake while my other dragons were lounging around the nest. It was then Zap and Ray raised their heads out of the water growled at me and kept motioning with their heads to the warm water. I looked at them confused and asked.
"Is, there something in there you guys want me to show me?"
They nodded their heads as if saying yes. I felt a little uneasy but I trusted them enough so I took off my armor and entered the water. They growled in approval before swimming up to me and began gesturing to their back that I believe meant they wanted me to get on their back so I did. They then swim towards the center of the lake before they began descending in so I took a deep breath before we completely submerged into the water.
Fortunately thanks to my training with the Mayans and the heir to the Berserker tribe trying to drown me as a child I learnt how to hold my breath for up to a few minutes although it isn't easy after the first three minutes had passed. Zap and Ray kept swimming down before much to my shock they stopped right in front of a large sunken ship. I smiled the best I could while holding my breath. Fortunately there were some floating barrels that were held down with weights while their lids were pointing to the ground (Like the ones you find while searching sunken ships in Assassins creed Black flag.) and if my hunch was right they had air in them. I swam off Zap and Ray and towards one of the barrels. Luckily my hunch was right and it had a source of air for me so I could stay down here longer. After I had some more air I began checking out the ships interior. Not surprisingly there were different forms of ocean plant life growing on everything along with some fish swimming around. I swam past a few rooms with old furniture and old junk rendered useless by its time underwater. Fortunately there were more barrels around the ship so I was able to get some more air before I needed to head up to the surface. One thing I noticed though as I got deeper the water was getting hotter. This got me curious so I swam deeper into the bowels of the ship. Once I had reached the bottom I almost gasped in shock but stopped since that could mean drowning but how could I not be in shock since there was a ton of gold, silver and jewels down here but the thing that caught my eye was the thing they were surrounding. What appeared to be a dragons egg which was white and covered in small red spikes. The egg was resting on a small underwater volcano, which I assume was keeping it warm. I swam up to it and placed my hand on the egg and it felt warm as if it were alive. I wanted to stay and study the egg longer but I was still human and like all humans I need to breath.
As soon as Zap and Ray helped me reach the surface I swam to shore. I sat down at the edge of the water where my Toothless nuzzled me before I asked Zap and Ray in a serious tone.
"That was an Alphas egg wasn't it?" They nodded their heads. "Was the skeleton the parent?" They once again nodded their heads. I rubbed my chin in thought already knowing that the Bewilderbeast didn't die naturally since some of the ribs had been broken by great force of some kind before I looked at Zap and Ray.
"You want me to take the egg home don't you?" They growled in approval I rubbed my chin in thought since I knew having an Alpha dragon be a challenge but with its strength and ability to make a nest out of ice when its fully-grown would be a great advantage to me in the future. I continued thinking about it for a few more minutes before coming to the decision that I would take the egg. I looked at Zap and Ray and said.
"Okay as soon as the ship arrives I'll have Scaulder help me retrieve it." I looked turned to Toothless. "You'll have to keep it warm till we get home okay bud?" He growled and gave a nod before I spent the rest of my day planning out how to keep the egg warm when we get home, how to raise the hatchling, how I'm going to adjust the cave to make it comfortable for the Bewilderbeast, etc…
Four days later
Today was the day Scaulder was picking us up to take us home. In the remaining days we spent I had studied the map to the dead guys home and knew exactly where to go, come up with multiple solutions on how to take care of the Bewilderbeasts egg when we get home and how to take care of it when it hatches. All that was happening now was me and Toothless were waiting by the black flag for Scaulder to bring the ship to pick us up while my other dragons were back at the nest with all my stuff. So far we've been waiting for half an hour before we finally saw my ship in the distance. I smiled before I said.
"Scaulders going to love the job I have for him."
2 hours later
We were once again at the Bewilderbeasts nest except this time so was my ship and Scaulder. I'll admit I had a pretty tough time when Scaulder first saw Zap and Ray. He immediately tried to eat them. Not sure why though but after an hour I was finally able to calm him down and get him to understand that Zap and Ray were new additions to our group and he was not to harm them in any way. Now here we are back at the nest waiting for Zap and Ray to bring the Bewilderbeasts egg back to the surface. I was sitting down in the grass waiting with a wagon to help get the egg on board. After a few more minutes Scaulder surfaced with the egg in his mouth. I smiled and said.
"Thanks big guy."
We then proceeded to carefully load it into the wagon before we wheeled it onto the ship where a large circular tank I built out of wood I got from the old ship and filled it with water from the lake that Scaulder heated himself. I put a lid over it to help keep the warmth in for the egg. After that I had Scaulder along with Zap and Ray get the treasures from the bottom of the lake since there was no sense in leaving them down there to waste away. After that we left the nest for home to put the egg safely away, introduce everyone to the new members of our team and drop off the new stuff.
1 week later
We've been on the ship for a week only stopping so Scaulder could reheat the water in the tank and we finally had Berk in sight. I smiled and said.
"Home sweet home." It wasn't long after that Scaulder pulled us into the cave where my dragons and animals were waiting. No surprise I was pounced by my wolves before I could even get off the ship. I laughed and said. "Easy guys I missed you to." They got off me as I smiled before I got off my ship and gathered everyone up and got the introductions out of the way. "Okay guys and another addition to our group." The tank with the egg was brought off the ship before pulling the lid off letting the steam rise out before everyone looked inside to see the egg. I smiled at it. "This egg belonged to a Bewilderbeast which is sadly no longer in this world so we'll be taking care of the egg and the dragon when he or she hatches. We're all going to need to chip in when raising it." They all looked shocked at this before lowering their heads and started growling in understanding. "Thanks guys now help me take this egg to the hot springs so we can set it down in one."
They growled before they unloaded the egg gently as I directed them to the hot spring room. I had them place the egg in the hot spring that was in the center of the room, which was always the hottest. I had them let it down gently before we all gathered in the main room. I turned to face everyone.
"Okay guys we're going to need to make a few adjustments for our new team mates after we unload all the new stuff from the ship." My dragons growled before we got to work.
1 hour later
We were done with the unloading of new items. I had to say my vault was really beginning to fill up since we kept finding so much valuable stuff in our travels. The old decorative weapons I found on the ship now hung on either side of the doors and they did look nice. The books and scrolls now rested on the shelves of my library, which was also beginning to fill up nicely. My cold territory dragons had their own dens now, which they froze up with their breath to make it more comfortable. Currently I was in my room at my desk looking over the map that leads to the dead dragon researchers home where I would hopefully be able to find more of his research on dragons while Shadow and Snowflake were at my sides sitting down and keeping me company. From what I could tell this guy lived a few days away from Berk by boat so it would take a day for us to fly there. I decided I'd leave for it in a few days since I just got back from a long trip and needed some down time along with some time with my dragons and animals especially Ikan since he's been stuck in his cage for a while now and could probably use some time out of it and I should spend some more time with my jaguars since they are getting close to being old enough to train. I smiled and said.
"These next few days are going to be relaxing."
AN: Hey guys it's been a long time but I have an excellent reason. My Docmanager has been refusing to let me load any documents so I haven't been able to post anything so sorry and please don't hate me for taking so long and please review nicely.
