Family Reunion

Hiccups POV:

After I saw the ships I had Toothless fly back to the house to do some thinking since I needed to do some thinking. Me and my dad's family never got along that well with me being a runt and the rest of them being more like my dad with big muscles and tough attitudes. I was always weak and shy mostly doing my best to stay out of everyone's way but that didn't stop the name calling and insults from my cousins along with my occasional aunts and Uncles. Mostly though I was just ignored by them until someone talked to my dad about finding a more Viking like heir at which point out how weak I was and how they thought I wouldn't make a good chief. The thing that hurt the most though was how my father would tell them that I would remain he heir but never denied their claims and how he'd give me a disappointed glare before walking off. It always made me feel like I was never good enough for him so anyone could guess why I hated the family reunions. When it came to my mother's side of the family though I really couldn't say much about them since I hadn't seen them since I was a little boy of five years old and because of that I couldn't really remember them that well.

I was now in my Mayan jungle in the temple sitting down in the throne and looking out at the jungle since it always gave me a sense of peace to just enjoy nature but my jungle lacked something. I realized it was missing the sound of the native birds singing in the trees and made a mental note to try and bring some back from my next trip into the Mayan jungle. Still though it was nice and peaceful to help me relax a bit so I could think about what to do. I knew I could face my relatives and go to the reunion or I could stay on my island and avoid them completely until they left. I rolled my eyes knowing that if I did that it would prove them right about me being a coward and the last thing I wanted was to give them that pleasure. It was then I felt something on my lap and looked down to see Nimla resting her head on my lap and looking up at me in concern. I smiled and rubbed her head giving a gentle scratch when I reached the back making her croon in pleasure as I said.

"I'm fine girl just nervous about my relatives coming for a visit." She growled hearing this since all my dragons knew how they treated me. "I know girl but they're still family and I won't give them the pleasure of me not being there and proving me to be a coward." I stood up. "And besides- "I cracked my knuckles. "There are a few cousins I have some business with." I began to make my way towards the exit but she cut me off with a concerned croon. "Don't worry girl I'll be careful." She just nodded before I left for the docks since if my relatives saw a dragon then they might try to slay them.

1 hour later

I was on Berk and making my way to the great hall where the family gatherings always took place. When I got there, I pushed the door open and walked in to see all my relatives together and socializing while enjoying food set out on a bunch of tables pushed together. I did my best to avoid being seen by them when I walked in which was easy since they were all too busy catching up with each other as I looked out for my dad. It was then I saw him talking to my Uncle Magnus who was nice to me but always tried to convince my dad to choose a new heir since he feared I'd be an easy target for enemies and become more valuable to them as a chief. I appreciated his concern but it did hurt that he thought I couldn't defend myself. By the look on my father's face he did not like the turn the conversation had taken. I walked up to them as they spoke not taking notice of me before I heard my Uncle say.

"Stoick it's been five years since I last saw that boy of yours so, where is he?"

"Well you see uh- "I could tell my dad had been trying to avoid the question before my Uncle Ragnar who was always a jerk to me and whose sons always beat me walked up.

"Maybe Stoick here finally got wise and threw that useless runt off the island." I hated how he said that and I could tell they both hated it as well so I walked up behind my dear Uncle Ragnar and said.

"Or maybe he's standing right behind you." He jumped before turning around to face me as did my father and Uncle Magnus as I smiled at them before my dad said.

"Hiccup!" I smiled at him.

"Hey dad, I'm back from my trip." I turned to my two Uncles. "Nice to see the both of you again my dear Uncle." They just stared at me as I turned back to my dad.

"When did you get back from your trip?"

"This morning and I have to say it was definitely one of my more interesting trips which reminds me I need to speak with you about something." Before he could reply Uncle, Magnus cut in with a hug.

"Now that can wait till after the reunion lad." He put me down but kept his hands on my shoulders. "Let me look at you lad." He looked me up and down. "Oh, you've changed so much from the scrawny little boy I saw last time and where did you get that armor from since I'd like some armor myself." Before I could reply my Uncle, Ragnar stepped in.

"Oh, please just because he has some fancy armor doesn't mean that he's not the same useless boy he's been." I clenched both my fists and teeth at this as I kept repeating that he was family in my head until. "I mean come on he's a runt just like his mother the worthle- "Before he could continue I grabbed him by the beard and pulled him down to eye level.

"Listen to me you pathetic piece of boar meat!" His eyes widened. "I have had to put up with your insults and bullying along with that of the majority of the people here just for being different and I have had it." I pushed him back and watched him stumble back and fall to the floor. "You and those to idiot yak heads you call your sons come the old dragon kill ring in one hour for a fight and if I win you three have to shut your big fat mouths about insulting me and if you win you'll get a large bag of gold and I'll disappear from Berk till the end of the reunion." I noticed everyone's attention was on me as I walked out and left the great hall for my home to grab the bags of gold.

One hour later

I was standing in the middle of the dragon kill ring doing pushups while my armor rested behind me with three large bags of gold along with Frost and Wyanet guarding them. Some would think I was risking too much with those bags gold but they didn't even make the smallest dent in my fortune. A few of my family members were already here watching me wait while some were either staring at my wolves or the gold. It was then my Uncle Ragnar with his two sons walked in and I had to say I was looking forward to giving them some long overdue payback for the years of torment and beatings they've given me. I saw them eye the gold before they noticed the wolves before I said.

"My wolves are just guarding the gold to make sure nobody tries to take a swipe at it while we fight." My cousin Butcher asked.

"Where in Midgard did a useless runt like you get two trained wolves or all that gold?"

"Trained them myself and let's just say my hobbies are very profitable." My Uncle then said.

"Doesn't matter since that gold is going to be ours soon." He pulled out his mace while his sons brought out either an axe or sword. "Now draw your weapon so we can get on with the reunion." I smirked.

"I don't need a weapon to deal with you three." They chuckled.

"Big mistake runt." They then charged at me.

Five minutes later

My cousin Butcher was unconscious with a broken arm and at least three broken ribs and pinned to the wall with his own sword while his brother skinner was also unconscious and pinned to the wall by the neck with the end of his axe with a broken leg, nose and dislocated shoulder. As for their father, he was currently pinned to the ground with me holding him down by the neck with one hand while I used the other to continuously punch his face into a bloody pulp. It was after I knocked his third tooth out I asked.

"Do you yield?" He spat out another tooth and groaned.

"I yield!" I smiled before slamming his head down against the ground once more as I got off him.

"I think I'll take your weapons as trophies from this fight."

I turned around and picked up his mace before walking over to his sons to unpin them from the wall as I looked at my relatives who watched. I couldn't help but smile at the looks on their faces since I always had to put up with them constantly insulting, belittling, beating and treating me as if I were dirt beneath their shoes. Now they know I am not a person you wanted to mess with if me beating the crap out of three of the best haddock warriors as if they were nothing. With this victory I knew I wouldn't be looked down on by any of my relatives again. As I took out the axe from the wall I heard someone walking up behind me and turned to find my Uncle Magnus walking up. I looked as he rubbed the back of his neck and said.

"That was really some fight Hiccup." I shrugged and turned back to the axe.

"Thank Uncle Magnus but it really wasn't that big a deal." I yanked the axe out of the wall sending my cousin to the ground. "Is there anything else I can help you with?" I turned to see him rubbing the back of his neck.

"Well you see Hiccup I was just-" He dropped his hand to his side. "Where in Midgard did you learn to fight like that?" I shrugged.

"A Mayan city, Rome, Greece, Egypt and Arabia."

"What?"

"Let's just say I've been pretty busy since I last saw you." One of my cousins walked up.

"What else have you been up to?" I chuckled.

"It would take more time to tell then I have." I began to walk back to the gold so I could collect it and put the weapons in the bags so I could have an easier time carrying them all but as I picked up one of the bags my dad walked up.

"Come on Hiccup it wouldn't hurt you to spend some time with your relatives."

"Funny since every time I did I wound up getting more injuries then I did in ten dragon raids." I saw some of my cousins look down at this. "Besides I need to take care of my travelling companions back on my island since they're worn out from the trip."

"Oh come on I think your dragons will be fine without you." It was at that moment I thought my dad was the biggest idiot in Midgard as my Uncle walked up.

"Did you say dragons?" My dad began to sputter before I decided it best to just get this over with now rather than later.

"Yeah he did and before you ask they don't hurt me since I trained and befriended them." He stared at me for a few seconds before bursting out into laughter followed by everyone else.

"Good one lad." He wiped a tear from his eye. "You really had me going there for a moment."

I rolled my eyes being thankful that I had Angel hanging out on the side of the cliff if something went wrong so I just whistled to call her up. I heard her climb up the cliff and listened to her circle around me. I snapped my fingers and she uncloaked herself around me making everyone jump back in shock. Some people went for their weapons but I just gave Angel a pat on the head and looked up at them before I said.

"Put your weapons away since she'll only attack if you threaten either me or her." My dad then stepped up.

"He's telling the truth so keep your weapons away." It was then my Uncle Magnus slowly walked up.

"But how is this even possible." I shrugged and gently scratched Angel's head.

"It's a long story but if everyone gets back to the great hall and wait for me then I'll gladly tell you all how this all started."

Everyone made their way across the bridge with some dragging the unconscious while I loaded up the gold and weapons before mounting her and taking off back to my ship on the dock. My wolves were quick to follow her and made it to the ship so we could return to the island. When we got back to the island I went and let my dragons know what happened at the reunion. Many of them were ready to go to Berk but I told them to let me handle it all. I had Ruble take the gold down to the vault while I took the weapons to the trophy room to set them up. I looked at the fang of the Red Death and knew I'd need to bring it as proof to them about the battle of the Red Death but this thing was pretty heavy. It was then I remembered my magic carpet and figured I could use it to carry the tooth but I knew that when they saw it he was going to be asking me a whole lot of questions. Still I knew more than a few of my relatives would want their heads so to be on the safe side I was brining my star sword, Eagle shield, Scimitar throwing knives and my flute to try and calm my relatives down or at least put them to sleep. When I got the tooth on the carpet I took off to the island but I knew this carpet was going to bring in a whole lot of questions. It didn't take me long to get to the great hall and along the way I'm pretty sure I may have sent Gothi some new patients who saw me on a carpet and may think they're hallucinating. When I got to the Great Hall I got off the carpet outside and rolled it up before anyone could see it before lifting it over my shoulder while I left the tooth outside for the time being. As soon as I walked in all conversation stopped as I walked past to the front where my dad was sitting in his chair looking at the carpet over my shoulder. Before he could as about it I just held up my hand and said.

"Trust me dad if I told you now you would think I had lost my mind." He just nodded as I placed the carpet by his chair. "Could you help me bring the Red Death tooth in from outside?" He nodded before he got up and followed me outside before helping me lift up the tooth as we carried it in together and set it down up front for everyone to see. "Alright now I know you all have a few questions but I feel it best to begin at the beginning when I shot down a night fury who would turn out to be both my best friend and the best thing to ever happen to me."

2 hours later

I finally finished telling everyone the tale about how I met Toothless and the slaying of the Red Death and me training other dragons. A few people doubted my claims of a dragon the size of the Red Death but I simply pointed at the Tooth that was the same height as my father and they shut up. I did have to answer a few questions and pin three of my cousins to the wall using my scimitar throwing knives. Their parents were still trying to pull the knives out to no avail and I would've told them that it was no use but I figured I'd let them figure it out themselves. I sat down in the chair next to my dad and said.

"And that's my story of how I met Toothless and put an end to the dragon raids." I looked at the crowd. "Any questions?" It was one of my uncles who was trying to pull out one of my knives who asked.

"Yeah I have a question." He gave another yank. "How do you get these knives out?" I shrugged.

"Well I normally just pull them out."

"Well clearly that's a lie because I've been pulling at them through half your story and haven't even made it budge." I stood up and walked up to him before grabbing the knife.

"It won't come out because you're not me." I pulled it out with no problem and put it back in its sheath before doing the same with the others.

"How is it that you can pull them out but I can't?"

"These knives were a gift from the Arabian gods for the service I did their people just as my star sword" I unsheathed it from the handle and held it up. "was a gift from the Greek gods for my service to their people and my eagle shield" I held my arm up and unfolded it. "was a gift from the Mayan gods for the service I did for their people." I sheathed all my weapons before I looked at the crowd. "These weapons were made specifically for me and only I can use them so if you wish to try and win them off me then you'll be wasting your time."

Everyone just stared at me and my weapons in shock before all hell broke loose with people pelting me with questions. I was ready to start throwing my knives but fortunately my father was kind enough to put an end to it with a large shout to shut them all up. I smiled at him in thanks before I turned back to my relatives and said.

"One question at a time people or else nobody is going to get answered so when you have a question raise your hand and I will answer it." It was then multiple hands went up and I pointed to one of my uncles with his hand up signaling him to ask his question.

"Why would the Gods give you these weapons?"

"I've done a lot of things for the people who worshiped them whether it be protecting the innocent or facing monsters who have brought great plagues and death upon the lands over which they rule."

"What monsters?" I listed every creature I faced including the mad high priest from the Mayans and the sorcerer from Arabia and all my uncle could say was. "What?" I shrugged.

"Let's just say I get around and leave it at that." He just stared at me before I turned to one of my aunts and pointed at her.

"Where do you keep the dragons you claim to have?"

"Keep them on my own island and don't bother trying to find it since if I don't want it to be found then it will turn invisible and nobody will be able to get to it except for me." One of my cousins raised his hand and I pointed to him.

"How did you get your own island?" I just smiled.

"The gods have given me more than just weapons my dear cousin." It was then another one of my uncles asked.

"Lad in all your travels which place would you say has the best women." His wife hit him on the back of the head while the men laughed.

"Can't really say since every place I visit the women are equally fine but I've never gone out with any since if I did they'd expect me to either stay in their land or take them with me when I leave as their husband and I am not ready to take on a wife." He just chuckled before another uncle said.

"Smart move lad." I turned to him. "Why pick from one barrel of fish when you can pick from multiple barrels of different fish." His wife slapped him on the back of the head for that.

"Any other questions which do not involve my love life or the best place to get a date?" One of my aunts raised her hand and I nodded.

"Okay here's something that's been bothering me since you got here." I nodded. "Why in the world did you bring a carpet with that giant dragon tooth?"

"The dragon tooth was to show as evidence of the existence of the Red Death and that carpet was to help me carry it since that thing is not light as a feather you know." They all looked at me as if I was mad before my dad walked up.

"Hiccup you know I love and trust you but did you hit your head on that last trip of yours?" Before I could reply Gobber ran into the hall and up to my dad.

"Stoick I hate to bother you during time with your family but Gothi is complaining about insanity running through the village."

"What are you talking about Gobber?"

"Well a few villagers are claiming they saw Hiccup back in the village on a flying rug." He then noticed me. "Oh hey Hiccup when did you get back?"

"Hey Gobber and I got back this morning." He smiled at me. "Oh and by the way could you tell Gothi that nobody is going mad since they weren't seeing things."

"Wait a minute." He looked down at me. "You actually flew on a rug into the village?" I shrugged.

"Just to bring in the Red Deaths tooth as evidence and I was not going to put any of my dragons at risk with my relatives here." He nodded.

"Where did you get a flying rug from though?"

"Gift from the Arabian gods for destroying dark magic jewels which should never have been created which resulted in banishing a man turned demon to the underworld, defeating and capturing the scourges of the desert known as the forty thieves and freeing a princess turned genie after using my wishes not to increase my wealth or life style but to aid me in future travels." Everyone just stared at me silently for a moment.

"Oh is that all?" I shrugged.

"Yeah pretty much."

"Lad next time you go on vacation could you do me a favor and not endanger your life?" I chuckled.

"Oh come on Gobber." I smiled at him. "The danger is half the fun and if I did that then I wouldn't help the people or get the blessings or gifts from the gods."

"Speaking of which did they give you any other gifts?" Before I could reply my dad put a hand on my shoulder.

"What happened in that land?"

"Long story!" He just looked me in the eye before pushing me into my chair.

"Start telling it." I saw the look in his eye leaving no room for any excuses I sighed and began the story from when I first arrived in Arabia.

1 hour later

"And that concludes my adventures in Arabia."

Everyone was staring at me as I looked around at the shocked looks on their faces before my eyes landed on two of my uncles and a cousin who were now pinned to the wall with my Scimitar throwing knives. The reason they were now stuck to the wall was that when I told them how Toothless had tried to kill Amira one of them said it was proof on how dragons are nothing but beasts who should be slain. As soon as he finished I threw two of my knives and pinned him to the wall and reminded him that Toothless was under the control of dark magic. The uncle next to him claimed he was right and that the only good dragon was a dead dragon, which got him, pinned to the wall before I told him that my dragons have helped me in more ways than he could imagine. My cousin then claimed that without my dragons I was nothing but the useless runt and once he was pinned to the wall I told him that the only reason I was weak was because people like him kept making me feel like dirt and beat me so bad I couldn't train due the pain. I noticed most of my relatives looked down in guilt at this. It was then Gobber walked up smiling at me as he said.

"Lad remind me never to go on a trip with you." I chuckled.

"I will." My dad then walked up.

"Hiccup you said they gave you a small piece to form a small separate island to open up an Arabian market place." I nodded. "How long should it take to get it up and running since this could help Berk and some of its allies." I shrugged.

"Hard to say but if all goes well it'll be up and running in a few days." He nodded.

"Get to work on it immediately." I nodded.

"With pleasure since I could use some more of the sugared dates they sell." One of my cousins then asked.

"I thought you weren't looking for a girlfriend or any kind of date with a girl." I turned to her.

"Not that kind of date." I ran a hand through my hair. "Dates are a type of fruit they sell in the market place and the sugared ones are one of my favorite snacks." He just nodded before an aunt asked.

"Do they sell things other than fruit at these market places?"

"Of course, they do." I rubbed my chin remembering everything they sold. "They also sell different foods, materials, art, fabric, books, carpets and more depending on the Merchants." I saw a look of excitement on the faces of the woman and a look of dread on the men as my dad walked up to my side.

"Go home and get started on building it." I nodded before I unrolled my carpet and got the tooth on it but before I could leave one of my aunts walked up.

"Hiccup I don't suppose you brought back any none flying carpets with you from your last trip did you?" I nodded.

"Yeah a few of them."

"Well I don't suppose you have one that you could give to your dear aunt?" I noticed a few were beginning to walk forward to ask the same question so I just sat on the carpet as it began to take off.

"If you want a carpet than go to the bazaar and see what they have there since I don't have that many and you might find one you like from there." With that I intended to fly back to my island but before I could someone said.

"Hey what about us?" I turned to my cousin who had asked and was pinned to the wall.

"What about you?" He struggled.

"Let us down!"

"Why should I?" I chuckled. "After all you're a big tough Viking while I'm just a little runt." He just growled and kept struggling while I chuckled knowing my knives would return to me when I got back to my island.

4 hours later

I was standing on the small island looking at a large sandstone arch that I knew would open the portal for the camel caravans to make their way through to the island. In one hand I held the orb holding my sleeping sandwalker while around my neck I wore my portal amulet. Next to me were Dune and Heatwave who had helped me spend the last four hours exploring the island. The island wasn't that big at all since it was around I'd say the size of the village with a large oasis in the center of the desert. I knew I'd need to build a dock to make things easier for people who came to barter during the bazaar's opening times and also build path ways to them before I did anything else but for now I'd allow the camel caravans access to the island to set up around the Oasis since the walk from the beaches wasn't so bad and I'd be sure to tell them to bring wagons with yaks to pull them to carry their purchases.

I looked at the sandwalker and knew it would come in handy when it came to guarding this island when nobody was around and to keep the thieves away. I looked at the orb once more before I let it drop to the ground and watched as it seemed to be pushing itself into the sand itself before the sand covered it completely. A few seconds later the sand around me seemed to move as if it were ocean waves before a giant scorpion like creature climbed out of the sands. I saw it had sand colored shell, a small bird's beak, four pincers and two scorpion tales and was very big. (AN: If you're having trouble picturing it google sandwalker images and it'll be the picture with the guy pointing a glowing rock at it only a bit bigger.) It walked towards me as my dragons got into defensive positions but I signaled them to stand down remembering Allah's words of the sandwalker being loyal to me and obeying my commands as I walked up to it. When it was right in front of me I saw it was female as she looked at me with her six black eyes before bowing to me as I smiled knowing she was going to come in handy. I walked up to her and gave it a gentle pat on the head and said.

"Easy their girl!" I looked her up and down. "I've got a job for you but first we're going to need to give you a name." I rubbed my head. "How's about Mirage since your kind is known to burrow underground and disappear like a Mirage." She rattled her tails before snapping her claws in the air screeching. "I'll take that as a yes." I then looked around the area. "This place is going to be a bazaar and I'm going to need you to guard the island from thieves when the stalls are up." She let out another screech before she began to burrow into the sand and before I knew it she was gone. "Well who needs guards when I have her I guess." I then turned to the arch. "Well time to activate the portal."

I walked up to the arch when my portal amulet began to pull towards it before a beam shot out at it stopping in the center of the arch before it spread out like rippling water. It was then I saw the Oasis from Arabia with Kadar looking at me through the arch and behind him were a few camel carts. He walked up to the portal and pressed his hand through it before I grabbed his arm and pulled him through. He looked at me as I smiled and said.

"Hey Kadar, how've you been?" He smiled.

"I've been fine Hiccup and I take it I can start bringing in the merchants?"

"You know it and tell them they can set up shop around the oasis but to keep in mind they only have six days to set up." He nodded before walking back through the portal.

Nightfall

I was now back on my island in bed after a long day of dealing with my relatives and helping the merchants set up the bazaar. The sad thing was my relatives were originally going to be here for three days and now with the bazaar being put up they extended it till the bazaar ended. If that wasn't bad enough everyone in the village were pestering me to know when the bazaar was going to open up and what would be sold. Some though had been asking me about my magic carpet and requesting rides on it but I just made excuses like telling them I needed to check on the bazaar. If that wasn't bad enough I had to deal with my relatives asking me about my adventures or how to train dragons despite me telling them that I wasn't going to teach them anything. The children of the family had been asking me about my dragons and if they could see them while some also asked me if I'd take them on as an apprentice but I just told them that with a family of dragon killers on the island I was not going to bring them to Berk. I then had to deal with their parents who demanded I bring some of my dragons for their children to see or to take them on as students and when I told them no they challenged me to a fight without any weapons. Long story short I got some new helmets for my trophy room and my relatives got some new injuries but it didn't stop them from trying to get me to bring some of my dragons for the children to see.

Six days later

The bazaar was closed and the camel caravans had returned through arch and my relatives were finally leaving while I watched from the cliff side with a smile on my face. Why shouldn't I be happy since the past six days have been nothing but a pain with my relatives constantly pestering me about my dragons and adventures. If that wasn't bad enough with the bazaar some of them asked me to lend them money so they could purchase things since they knew I had plenty of gold from the first fight I had in front of them. I did crack on the dragons though since the children used the puppy dog eyes on me but I had the parents and every adult relatives I had swear not to try and hurt, threaten, or pull out any weapons on any of my dragons. Long story short most of them were pinned to the walls with my knives or got their heads stuck in the wall when I slammed their heads into them. The kids loved my dragons though, especially Toothless when he gave a gummy smile to them which they found adorable. The bazaar went well though since the merchants were happy to have new customers with foreign goods to trade with them and I was even able to stock up on my favorite sugared dates. We did have some trouble with the twins trying to steal from some of the merchants only to be caught by Mirage who dragged them to me to deal with. Sadly, they just screamed how Mirage was so cool and wanted a sandwalker of their own. I just dragged them back to the merchant they stole from and had them return what they stole before dragging them to their parents and banding them from the bazaar till the next one. Besides that, nothing else happened so I just had to keep an eye out for any more trouble which didn't come up that much. I just hoped for a bit more down time to sort out some stuff before there was any more trouble for me to deal with.

AN: Hey all I hope you enjoyed the chapter and I'm sorry if you wanted more fight scenes but I'm not that great at them and wanted to get past Hiccups relatives so until next time please keep your reviews kind.
