Chapter 105
Hiccups POV:
It's been a week since I left Greece to return home to my island and Berk and I was looking forward to getting home and seeing what the new island piece would turn into. I could tell my dragons, griffins and Phlegon were the same which isn't surprising since a while without open fields to run in or grassy lands to lay down in and sunbathe then they get a little twitchy. Of course, there was the downside of telling my father what happened in Greece since he was no doubt going to have a heart attack and yell his head off at me for putting myself in so much danger in an adventure that almost cost me my life. I couldn't really blame him since the last time I came this close to passing away was when I pulled out the axe of eternal winter from the ground and before that it was when I was in El Dorado and got pulled into that giant whirl pool. Each time after I told my dad I was sure he was going to have a heart attack and now with me getting a blade slammed right through my body by a titan who only kept me alive to try and convince me to join him or spend the rest of eternity in a solitary cell in Tartarus where the cold silence and loneliness would slowly drive me mad. I shivered knowing that conversation is something I was not going to enjoy since he was probably going to try and force me to move back into the village so he could keep an eye on me. I chuckled at the thought since if he even tried to do that then not only would I prove to him that he couldn't boss me around but also, I'd use one of my lion gauntlets to punch him into a wall for trying to control my life again. It was then Berk and my island came into view bringing a smile to my face as I said.
"Home at last!"
I willed my ship to sail faster since I could tell everyone on my ship was eager to get to the island and enjoy being back on dry land and who could blame them. We docked within five minutes and as usual were greeted by all my dragons and animals but I'm pretty sure Aylen was more interested in greeting Phlegon then anyone else on the ship. I chuckled and rolled my eyes at the sight of her nuzzling his neck since it was clear they were in love. The way they acted reminded me of Dagur and Mala but doing so reminded me I should drop by and visit the two of them sometime to see how things have been and also visit the wing maidens to see how they're doing. I'd been meaning to see how Sapphires hatchlings were doing since there's no doubt they're almost mature enough to be with their mother once more. I looked around at everyone and clapped my hands to get their attention as I said.
"Alright guys there'll be time for hugs and kisses at a later time but for now we need to focus on unloading the ship." They all turned to me and nodded while growling before we got to work.
Three hours later
It's been three hours since we docked and those three hours have been nothing but busy for my dragons, animals and me with everything that's been happening but I'd say it's all been worth it. My Greek reliefs are now imbedded in the wall of the Greek trophy room alongside the others with the trophies from the battles they depicted in front of them with the talons on a white marble pedestal that reached my waist in height in a glass box, the spiked ball on another pedestal that reached below my knee in height, the two minotaur axes crossing each other on the wall, the Cyclops skull on a pedestal like the one the talons were on, the helmets from the undead legionaries set up on a pedestal like the others but they were set up with one above the other two and the swords crossed beneath them, the copy of Cronus's scythe hung on the wall and next to it the belt of Megaera while my new Spartan armor was set up next to my other armor.
Besides my trophies being unloaded and put in their proper place I'd also taken care of my god made weapons and placed them back in the armory. They were all now safely locked back up until the time for them to be needed again came except for my star sword and lion gauntlets since the village is more than likely going to want a demonstration of their powers like they did with all my other weapons from the gods. Besides that, I also wanted to run a few tests on my gauntlets that I never got the chance to do in Greece with everything that was going on. Phlegons chariot was now resting in his stables till it was needed and as for Phlegon himself, he was running through the open planes alongside Aylen since from what I could tell she had been worried about him. I also had to help Plutarach settle the griffins down until I could place the new crystal piece that the gods had given me claiming it would help out with my griffins but in the meantime, they were hanging around the griffins roost.
Now I was making my way up to the all too familiar pathway to the volcano that held the small island in the center of the lava with the tree being guarded by Damen and the statue of Toothless at top overlooking the lava. There was a difference this time however as normally Toothless would be the one joining me but this time it was both him and Plutarach who were joining me since it was the griffins who'd be affected with this new section. When we made it to the statue I looked at Plutarach who looked at me and nodded as if telling me to go ahead so I pulled out the piece from my satchel making the piece vibrate and glow. After that things just went through the motions with the crystal model of my island rising from the ground followed by the piece in my hand flying towards it. There was a difference this time however since instead of flying into a place at the edge of the model it slowly slid into an opening on the forest side of the forest where the Griffins roost was. When it sunk in like all the other pieces the model glowed as I felt the shaking of the ground as I made my way towards the edge of the volcano to see the new island section. I stood there and watched as a tall mountain that was taller than the volcanoes by about half their size rose from the waters with another piece of the forest growing at the foot of it. I smiled at the sight until I noticed something growing out of the top making boulders roll down but fortunately stopped when they reached the base so they didn't cause any damage. With it done forming I turned to Toothless and Plutarach as I said.
"Well boys let's go and check out this new island section where the griffin flock is meant to roost and hopefully find out if the griffins roost was damaged in the move."
They growled and screeched before I mounted Toothless and we took off towards the mountain but I knew it wouldn't take us long to get there. As we got closer I saw the mountain was mainly rock with the only form of greenery down at the bottom but it was what was up at the top that caught my attention the most as there seemed to be some sort of temple built there. I decided to check it out later since for now I needed to do a quick sweep of the mountain along with checking out the bottom of it to make sure the animals living down there were safe and not too shaken from the new area forming.
Half an hour later
We'd just finished a sweep of the mountain and now we were coming in for a landing at the top of the mountain to land at the large temple that took up the entire mountaintop in a circle. We came to land on the end of a large grey marble patio that rested on the edge of the mountaintop on the patio. I dismounted Toothless as Plutarach came to land next to me before I looked around and I had to admit this was pretty nice with the floor being one single piece of marble that had been smoothed down to the point where there wasn't a single rough patch. There was a railing at the edge made of the same marble with a griffin that was on its hindlegs with its wings spread out, its head raised and its front claws out at the corner of each end connecting the rails together while the marble circling the edges of the railing reached five feet in width and was made of yellow marble. I looked around before my eyes landed on the view of the island and it was amazing since I could nearly see the entire island from this height before I turned back to face the temple and said.
"Well it's time to see what's in this temple."
I slowly walked towards the temple but stopped when I noticed the monogram of the Greek god of the wind Aeolus engraved into the floor. The monogram took the form of a gold circle with another circle made of white marble inside with a white marble A in the center, the inner circle had eight gold arrows sticking out towards the outer circle with four being longer than the others so it resembled a compass with the long arrows pointing to longer arrows outside the larger circle while the smaller arrows pointed to small points that were pointing in towards the A. Along with this the marble within the circles wasn't grey like the rest of the mountaintop but dark blue. I didn't think much of it until the wind began to pick up and push me towards it until I was standing right on the A before both the A and the circles began glowing a golden light. It was then the see-through golden image of the Greek god of the wind Aeolus appeared. He was wearing a grey tunic, a golden band wrapped around his head with the same monogram in the center of the band, golden bands on his wrists, a golden staff with the same monogram at the top of it, a golden thread tied around his long grey beard and his long grey hair running down his shoulder blades. The image smiled at me but before I could say anything it said.
"Hello Heracles, I hope this message finds you well as it is here to just inform you of a few things concerning this new island section of yours." He gestured to the area. "Now with this new section comes a few new gifts such as should you stand on this monogram you shall be able to control the wind by simply calling it by its Greek name followed by where you'd like it to go." I knew if used correctly the wind could be used as a great way to help ships but also as a powerful weapon. "Inside this temple you will find a pendent shaped like my monogram but to use it you must place it on the top deck of your ship at the front and then it shall activate fully but besides that we merged the building you called the Griffins Roost with the temple in a way we believe you shall like." He then smiled at me once more. "Besides the temple this mountain has a few levels that I hope you enjoy exploring and I hope your griffins find this place to their liking, thank you once more for your aid in the past but remember there are many more challenges that await you and every god wishes you luck my friend so until next time enjoy your life." With that the image vanished in a glow leaving me standing there with Toothless and Plutarach all of us staring at where the message once was before turning to them and saying.
"Well let' go and see what this place has to offer."
2 hours later
It has been two hours since I began exploring the new mountain and to say I was impressed would be a major understatement with everything I saw. On the top floor in the temple there was a large room white marble grey with multiple large square shelves sticking out of the walls at the top which I knew would be perfect for my griffins to nest on, in the center of the floor was a mosaic of Toothless and a griffin flying around in a circle following each other, at the back was a large white marble statue of a griffin with its mouth wide open letting water fall out into a circular pool in front of it, behind this statue built into the wall and above the statues height was the top of the Griffins roost where Plutarachs nest was and below that built into the roost was a door that lead to the inside so I could be lowered to the other floors. As for the lower floors there were a total of three lower floors each with their own unique reason for existing.
Finding out how the first lower floor worked would be something I'd be remembering for a long time to come. When the floor stopped lowering me I saw this floor had a door made of pure black marble with a lock that I could open with my stone of good fortune and when I found out what was inside I knew why. Inside was a room made of black marble, with torches hanging from the walls and in the center of the room was a black marble pedestal with black marble statues of the Egyptian goddess Bastet and the Egyptian god Ra lined with gold both of them facing and looking down at the pedestal while each holding a staff that had a magnifying glass lens at the top. When I first entered the room the thing that caught the most attention however was the chest on top of the pedestal that held my most destructive weapon, which were the statues that could harness the power of the sun. This pedestal and the statues were also resting on a circular mosaic of the sun. When I opened up the chest the floor shook as the mosaic they were on lifted both the statues and I up while the ceiling opened up to let us out.
Once we reached the top I was once more out on the patio at the just behind the railing on the yellow marble. I took the statues out of the chest to see if something might happen only for the chest to sink back into the pedestal before the opening it sunk in closed before two circular slots opened up. I figured they were meant to hold the statues in place when they were being used so I placed them in the slots and they tightened around the bottom before a shelf with an indent for my stone of good fortune pushed out of the front. I pressed my prosthetic arm into the slot before my stone of good fortune locked in and began to vibrate as a golden ring pushed out of the pedestal around my prosthetic hand. When I touched the ring with my real hand it felt warm before I twisted it a bit and much to my shock the entire yellow marble floor twisted with it so I twisted it until it was facing away from Berk since the last thing I wanted to do was accidentally activate the statues and fire at Berk. It was then I tried to twist my prosthetic a bit but ended up pushing it in. When this happened the lenses on top of the statue's staffs tilted down slightly so the light of the sun was channeled into the statue of Bastet that filled up with the light and soon enough it launched into the statue of Ra before launching the familiar beam into a sea stack destroying it making me glad I had them aimed away from Berk. I then pulled my prosthetic out of the slot before the floor turned back to its original place and took me back down to the room as the grip on the statues was released allowing me to take them out as the chest to hold them was once again freed from the pedestal. After that I just put them away and went to explore the rest of the lower floors.
The second lower floor was a wide room made of white marble with multiple torches lighting the room up along with the small platform in the center of the room with a small pedestal with an indent for my stone of good fortune. When my stone of good fortune was inserted hoops, swinging bags among other things would be raised from the floor or released from the ceiling as a large window leading outside opened up. It wasn't that difficult to figure out that this room was meant for training my griffins through various obstacle courses. Then there's the third lower floor was a bit more peaceful with a single room made of dark blue marble that had a large spyglass in the middle. There was a lever in the floor next to it and when pulled the entire wall the spyglass was facing opened up as the top of the spyglass was pushed out of the opening. I knew this room was clearly used to study the stars at night since with this spyglass I'd have no problem viewing and charting them.
After finding out about all the lower floors I focused on having Plutarach call in the other griffins so they could begin settling into their new home. When they all came in I could tell they liked it if them flying around the mountain with a few females picking out the places to nest was anything to go by. It was during this time I found out about the strong updraft that allows the griffins to hover above it all with their wings spread out. I used this updraft to keep me air born while my own wings were spread out and I admit it felt good and it was nice when Toothless joined me in enjoying the updraft. After enjoying the updraft for a bit while practicing my flying I decided it was time for me to go and face the most terrifying thing in the archipelago. My father when he's angry and when he finds out I nearly met my end at the hands of Cronus he was more than likely going to enter what I called the 'Vein Rage'. I gave this level of rage the name since when he gets to this level of anger a small throbbing vein appears on his forehead while his face turns red and he begins to smell a little like burnt mutton.
This brings us to where I am now which is with Toothless up in the air with my star sword in my prosthetic and my lion gauntlets in their armband forms around my wrists. I looked at Berk and knew this was no doubt going to be a visit I was not going to enjoy but felt it best I get it over with now rather than later since the longer I waited the worse it'll be. When we reached Berk, a sizable crowd had formed in the town center as we came to land in front of them before I said.
"And I'm back folks so deal with it." It was then my dad walked through the crowd as I dismounted Toothless when he yelled.
"HICCUP!" I smiled at him.
"Hey dad." He picked me up and hugged me as I felt the pressure on my ribs.
"Okay dad I'm having a hard time breathing here." He put me down.
"Well I'm sorry for being happy to see my son when the last time I saw him he claimed he'd be going up against one of the most dangerous forces the worlds ever known."
"Don't worry about me, dad as Cronus was defeated and I was able to help get the rebuilding of the towns and cities that were damaged by his forces during his attempted conquest of Greece started, allowing everything back in Greece to go back to normal." Gobber then walked up and said.
"It's good to have you back lad but tell me! "He grabbed my shoulders. "Did you get any new weapons from the gods?" I smiled and rolled my eyes since Gobber was always the first one who wanted to know if I got any new weapons from the gods.
"Gee Gobber, your concern truly touches me."
"I'm sorry lad but you know how much I admire the craftsmanship of the weapons you get from the gods and besides I had faith that you wouldn't die in this battle." I looked down as I scratched the back of my head.
"Yeah, I wouldn't die so easily." The smile on his face quickly dropped.
"You didn't receive any life-threatening wounds did you lad?"
"What makes you ask that?"
"Hiccup, I've known you since ye were a wee baby so don't try to hide anything from old Gobber since you'll fail miserably." I sighed while looking up at him.
"I can't get anything past you can I Gobber?" He shook his head before I decided it best I get it out now. "Well I did end up getting one serious wound."
"You didn't end up losing another limb did you lad because I think you'll need the remaining to fight back the fans if this latest adventure was like the others?" He and my father chuckled.
"No, I didn't lose any more limbs just got impaled the blade of a giant scythe." They immediately stopped chuckling and both yelled.
"WHAT?" I winced at this.
"Listen I'll tell you everything after everyone who wants to know is in the Great Hall since as always I'd rather not repeat the story." They nodded but I could already see the vein in my father's forehead begin to form.
3 hours later
It's been an hour since I finished the story and my father entered the 'Vein Rage' making him yell at the top of his lungs at me for an hour, which is a new record for him. I didn't say anything though, I just sat there quietly and let him go at it since he needed to get this all out since it wasn't healthy for him to bottle it all up and besides, I had the feeling he was going to stop soon. I watched as he paced around the floor while ranting about how I could've died and how much danger I was in before he took a deep and much needed breath as he turned to me and asked.
"Honestly Hiccup do you have any idea what was going through your mind when you decided to embark on this adventure of yours?"
"I was thinking that if I didn't do this then more cities would fall, the people I'd come to call my friends would become slaves and eventually Cronus would come to Berk and either wipe us out or enslave all of us." I looked him in the eyes. "As a chief I'm sure you understand I was just trying to do what's best for not only Berk but all of Midgard." He sighed and rubbed his eyes.
"But why is it always you who has to take on some of the most horrid evils in Midgard?"
"Trust me dad if I knew I'd have the answer to a question I've been asking myself since I moved out of the village." He sighed.
"Well do you think you can avoid any more dangers of fighting monsters for at least two months so my heart has time to recover from the near heart attack you've given me today."
"Don't worry, I've been meaning to visit some of my allies from when I was dealing with the dragon hunters." He nodded before Gobber walked up and said.
"Well now that that's all out of the way I don't suppose you'd mind helping old Gobber out in the forge with a fresh batch of Gronkle iron." I rolled my eyes.
"You really go through that stuff, fast don't you?" He shrugged.
"What can I say other than business is booming?"
"I'll have a fresh batch for you by tomorrow afternoon." He nodded before Ruffnut and Tuffnut pushed their way to the front of the crowd as Tuffnut said.
"Well now that that's all out of the way, could you show us those new gauntlets you used to face the pirates."
I rolled my eyes since this happened every time I came home with a new weapon with the two of them wanting to know what destruction they could do. I shivered at the thought of what my weapons could do in the hands of the twins but it just made me all the more grateful to the gods for making it so my weapons only worked for me. The mere thought of what the twins could do if they could use them made me shiver in horror. I shook out of my thoughts and decided to just get it over with knowing that if I didn't do it now then they'd pester me until I did. I switched my gauntlets out of their armband form and took them off before placing them on the table for the twins to check out along with Gobber. While they examined them, I answered questions of the crowd who'd been holding back on their questions due to my father's yell fest.
2 hours later
It's been two hours since I started answering questions in the great hall and I admit I've had some annoying times when it comes to these kinds of things but this time took the cake. The reason is people kept asking me what the beasts I faced were like, how I was able to evacuate the citizens, how I was feeling throughout the experience, how I was able to resist Cronus's power, what Gaia was like and a few other questions. There were more than a few stupid questions that were added in like what I ate during the battle, was the weather nice, if I was going to kill my dragons when they were under Cronus's control along with a few other idiotic questions. I then had to deal with Snotlout being an idiot decided to try on my gauntlets to see how good he'd look with them, which is when I discovered their defense mechanism. They pulled back up the arms so his hands were sticking out of the mouths of the lions before they quickly shut down around his hands while the gauntlets pulled together forming cuffs as they became so heavy Snotlout dropped to the floor while also leaving a sizable dent in it when they landed. Snotlout kept struggling to get up while I face palmed and slowly walked over to him but I was tempted to leave him like this to keep him from bugging me to make him his own but I decided it best to get him out now before he began complaining. After that I just placed my hands on the heads of the gauntlets and they let him go before I put them back on and pointed one at him as I said.
"Don't touch my weapons!"
"Oh come on you can't deny how good I'd look with gauntlets like those."
"And you can't deny that my god made weapons only answer to me so they are not something to be messed with."
"Which is why you've got to make me my own set." I glared at him.
"Not happening now nor ever as I have more important things to worry about now that I'm back."
"Like what?" Ruffnut was quick to run up and latch onto my arm before answering.
"Like spending time with me." I just glared at her before pulling my arm free.
"Not happening Ruffnut!" I turned to Snotlout. "And as for you, I just got back from a long trip that lasted weeks and I need to make sure all is well on my island along with helping my new griffins settle into their new home." That shut him up as I made my way out of the hall to get back to my island to take care of things.
3 weeks later
It's been three weeks since I got back from Greece and in that time a lot has happened with everything that's been going on with my island. For starters I'd used the pendant that came with the temple on top of the mountain and when it fully activated I was surprised with what happened, I took it onto my ship and placed it on the top deck at the front like I was told before it grew while sinking into the deck becoming like the one on the temple's patio. I spent a little time testing it out and knew I could use it to both speed up my ship by commanding it into the sails but also use it against my enemies by ordering it at them. Along with that I'd also helped my griffins settle into their new roost and I could tell they were all comfortable in their new home with the shelves to nest on, the fountains water to drink from, the updraft allowing them to enjoy hovering from time to time and using the training room to keep in shape. I'd also been making use of the room with the giant spyglass to admire the stars at night while also mapping them out for future references. Another thing I'd been using in the new part of the island was the updraft to practice using my new wings and now I enjoyed using the winds to get a good amount of height before I used my wing to glide around. So far, my record is making it from my mountain to my houses garden.
I hadn't been spending all my time just using my new wings and practicing my control of the wind however but also practicing with my gauntlets to see I could unlock anything else they could do. I figured they might be able to channel some of the crystals I use in my prosthetic limb. Like how with my star sword can be ignited with the red crystals or how my crystal spear can be electrified using a blue crystal but none of my weapons could channel all of the crystals but with the ones they could channel made them all the more powerful. I tried using many of the crystals on the gauntlets and found they could use the crystals in ways that ensured any opponent I went up against would be in major trouble. For starters I learnt I couldn't channel the crystals into the gauntlets through my prosthetic arm like my other weapons but through the same way I channeled their power into my arm. I did this by holding a charged crystal towards them and the lion heads extend forward revealing four open slots behind the manes with one on the top, one at the bottom and one on both the right and left side, before the crystal separates into two separate crystals that are pulled into the top slot and then the heads pull back into place. Once the heads back in place a small crystal in the eyes of both gauntlets glows the same color as the crystal that it just took in giving the gauntlets a more fearsome look and proving they were connected. From there the part where the crystals are held would then spin to switch through different crystals and from there they could power some new attacks for the gauntlets. (AN: Think revolver gun when it comes to how the gauntlets switch between crystals)
One of my favorite attacks is one that harnesses the power of the misty white crystals and I simply call it 'the roar' and it was no doubt one of my most powerful attacks. The way it worked was I charged up the gauntlets using my misty white crystal making the gauntlets shake while the inside of the mouths glows white before they let out a sonic blast like that of a thunderdrum except this roar sounded more like that of a lion. Either way though it was powerful since when I tested it on a rock it sent it flying and when I tested it on a log it shattered it into pieces. When I used an orange I was able to launch balls of lava that exploded on contact and when I used a purple crystal allowed me to infuse a ball of metal with the power of a plasma blasts so it sped at an enemy faster then anything I'd ever seen and exploded at the end. All in all, these attacks were powerful and not something I wanted to be on the receiving end of plus I hadn't had the chance to test out the other crystals yet so there's no telling what other attack I could do and intended to test them out on the gauntlets and my other weapons to see what I could get. Besides that, I'd also been practicing with my improved star sword including using it while using my wings to glide close to the ground. I did this by running the sword across the ground making the branches rise from the ground to attack my enemies and knew it would come in handy in the future. All in all, I'd been enjoying some much-needed down time after the last adventure with everything that happened in Greece.
Now however Toothless, Sapphire and I were making our way towards Wing Maiden Island to see how her hatchlings were doing. (AN: If you don't remember them check chapter 85) I could tell Archer wanted to join us since he was the father of those hatchlings but I doubt he'd be well received by either the wingmaidens or the female razorwhips. The last thing I wanted was for him to get hurt or get on any of the wingmaidens bad sides since they were fierce warriors. It was then their island came into view bringing a smile to my face as I turned to Sapphire and asked.
"You ready to see your hatchlings girl?" She just turned to me and let out a roar before taking off towards the island full speed making me chuckle. "I'll take that as a yes." I then looked down at Toothless. "Come on bud, we better catch up to her."
He just crooned as we sped up towards the island while following Sapphire who was flying faster then I'd ever seen her. As we flew over the island I smiled down at the sight of the familiar forest and seeing some of the wingmaidens walking around but stopping to wave at us as we flew by. I smiled at this since it had been a long time since I'd last been here or even talked to Atali and it'd be nice to talk to her again and catch up with her to see how things have been. It was then we came to land in the center of their village where Atali was waiting for us. Once we had landed I dismounted Toothless while smiling as I said.
"Atali, it's good to see you again." Atali smiled at me.
"It is good to see you again Hiccup Haddock." She turned to look at Sapphire who was squirming a bit before looking back to me as she giggled. "I take it you are here to see your razorwhips hatchlings."
"That and is there something wrong with me wanting to visit some of my old allies."
"There is nothing wrong with that but it has been a while."
"I would've visited sooner but some things have been keeping me busy."
"And may I ask what has kept you so busy?"
"Atali, you wouldn't believe me if I told you."
"Hiccup I've seen some of your abilities and items that have been gifted to you by the gods and have heard your tales of adventure and combat." She placed a hand on my shoulder. "I can assure you that nothing you say would surprise me."
"Alright but do you think we could discuss it over lunch since I haven't eaten since breakfast and I know Sapphire would like to see her hatchlings while we eat."
"I believe that is a wonderful idea as tomorrow is the day the hatchlings shall be returned to their mothers including Sapphires hatchlings." Sapphire began to jump on her feet at this. "I believe it best we take her to see the hatchlings first as she seems quite eager." I nodded.
"No arguments there." With that we took off to see Sapphires hatchlings.
10 minutes later
I smiled at the sight of Sapphire nuzzling her two daughters and son who were overjoyed to see their mother once again. I smiled at the reunion before I turned to Atali and said.
"I think we should leave them alone for now to get reacquainted." She nodded.
"Indeed as it is best at these times to give mothers a chance to reconnect with their hatchlings." With that we walked away to get lunch with Toothless following.
4 hours later
It's been four hours since we left Sapphire to bond with her hatchlings and in that time not much has happened aside from me telling the wingmaidens about my latest adventures in Hawaii, Egypt, Valhalla and Greece. I could tell they all found it hard to believe until I showed them the god made weapons I got from these adventures, my ship and of course my wings. The looks on the faces of those girls when they saw my wings were priceless and a memory that will bring me plenty of laughs in the future. There were a few who believed my wings to simply be apart of my armor so to prove to them that they were actually apart of me I took of my armor and showed them my back where the wings were actually apart of my body. I could see they were all impressed but I had the feeling of them just wanted to see my torso without armor if their blushing faces were anything to go by. After that Atali requested I demonstrate the use of my wings which I was happy to do and I could tell impressed the wing maidens.
I had also taken the time to ask about what Sapphires hatchlings were like personality wise just so I could get a feel to how they'd be around the island. It turns out the only male was really energetic and is also a bit of a roughhouse so he was taking after his father. His two sisters however were more calm and preferred to enjoy peaceful flights and sharpening their tails but they were still tough when roughhousing with their brother. I could tell that they would fit in just fine with the other dragons. The thing that really caught my attention was how Atali had been chosen by the oldest female and caught her chewing on something she dug up. Now that was something that brought a smile to my face, as the item was a single item that I'd been searching a long time for. It was one of the two 'bells of frey' that had yet to be added to my collection and now with it I only needed to find one more and I'd be able to both find the legendary foreverwing and awaken it. Once that's done then just maybe I'd be able to train it and bring it back to my island. For now though I was happy with just enjoying my time getting to know Sapphires hatchlings. This brings us to where I am now which is walking with Atali to go see how well Sapphire's doing with her little ones.
When we arrived I smiled at the sight of one of her daughters pinning her brother to the ground while the other roared in a way that made me believe it to be cheering them on while Sapphire laid down watching them. It was then she noticed me and stood up before letting out a loud growl to get the attention of her hatchlings that all stopped what they were doing to see what their mother wanted. She gestured to me with her head before the little ones took notice of me and made their way up to me as I kneeled down to their level and held out my hand for them to sniff. They hesitated but the male slowly walked up to me and sniffed my hand before his eyes widened as he let out a growl of joy and then pounced on me knocking me over while began to lick my face. I just laughed thinking how nice it was that the little guy remembered me despite the fact that I haven't seen him or his sisters since the battle on Berserker Island when they swooped in with their wingmaidens. After the hunters were dealt with I had spent a few minutes playing with them under the watchful eyes of their wingmaidens and Sapphire who was happy to see her little ones at the time but it wasn't time for them to come back to her yet.
It was then I was brought out of the memories when his sisters ran up to join him in playing with me as I laughed. Sapphire walked up and let out a gentle growl that got the little ones to get off my chest as I continued to chuckle while taking a good look at the little ones. The male looked a bit like windshear in scale color but it had a bit of a blue tint to it obviously from his mother but the most eye-catching thing were the red outlines on the side of his top scales. His sister who stayed out of the fight looked more like her father but her scales were a lighter shade of brown with patterns on her wings that looked like the patterns of sparkles. Finally the last one looked very similar to her mother except her scales were greener almost like a bright jade while her eyes glowed orange like the embers of a fire and her tail was bent in a way that it looked like a scythe. (AN: Picture Sawtooth, Lashbane and Jade cutter from Rise of Berk in that order.) In size they were only slightly bigger then when I last saw them but that only seemed to make them cuter to me. I smiled at the little ones as the one with the markings on her wings rested her head on my lap as I began stroking her neck making her croon in pleasure before Atali walked up and said.
"We normally wait till tomorrow to allow the little ones to return to their mothers but in this case I believe it best that they return home with you today."
"I wouldn't mind that and by the looks of things neither does Sapphire." She just crooned and nuzzled her daughters making me chuckle.
"You should know that they will need to take breaks on your flight back as they are now entering maturity so their wings need time to rest and adapt to their changes."
"Don't worry Atali I brought my ship incase this happened."
"Would you mind giving me a tour of your ship as I would like to see what a ship created by the dwarves is like?"
"Sure Atali, I don't mind." It was then Minden walked up.
"May I join you as I'd also like to see such a ship?" I nodded and lead them to the ocean with Sapphire and the little ones following.
1 hour later
I was on my way home with the razorwhips and Toothless all loaded up on my ship with each of the little ones now having names to go by. The boy was named Sawtooth while his sister with the sparkle pattern on her wingsnow went by Lashbaneandthe final one I'd given the name Jade because of her scale color. I knew each of these three would grow up to be fine razorwhips but I hoped Archer wouldn't follow the males of this island and try to feed on them. It's hard to imagine him doing that since in the time he's been apart of my team he's been nothing but kind and gentle with me, my animals and of course the other dragons despite his past in the dragon fights. The only time I've ever seen him act aggressive is during training or in battle. I trusted him of course but I'd also be sure to keep a close eye on him when it came to the hatchlings after all it was in his nature but I had a feeling he'd be able to fight his nature.
AN: Hey all I hope you liked this chapter since it was also a way for me to close up a gap with the razorwhip hatchlings while also bringing up the powers of the gauntlets when charged with some of the crystals. I'm sorry if you found this chapter a bit boring but I'm cutting Hiccup some slack since the guy just got out of fighting an army of monsters along with the king of the titans and then helped rebuild a city so I figured I'd give him a break. On another note a new list will be going up listing the crystals and their powers, the god made weapons and their powers and what happens when they've been charged up by a certain crystal but remember the each of the weapons can only use certain crystals and not all of them. Till next time enjoy your day and please leave kind reviews.
