Chapter 128
Quest for Camelot
Hiccups POV:
To say I was shocked by the sight of who was standing behind me in green robes since the owner of the voice was one of the last people I ever expected to see here in Arabia. I then smiled and stood up from my chair as I collapsed my star sword and had it return to my prosthetic before I noticed the guards withdrawing their swords as they began approaching us. I stood up and held up my hand stopping them in their tracks as I said.
"Stand down men, he's a friend and even if you tried you wouldn't be able to do anything against him." It was then the sultan asked.
"Hiccup, you know this man?"
"We've met in the past but what he's doing here I have no idea." I then turned back to face the person. "This brings up the question as to why you're here since by your greeting I can tell it's not to simply drop in on an old friend." He sighed before he answered.
"I'm afraid not for you see a great darkness has befallen my home which can only lead to pure chaos if it is not dealt with immediately."
"But surely you can take care of it yourself."
"I'm afraid what has happened has left me in no position to leave my kings side as it has left him injured." I sighed.
"Alright let's just cut to the chase and tell me why you've come here searching for me since if you'd go through all this trouble of finding me it must be pretty bad." I sat back down with my chair facing the guest. "So, tell me what's going on in Camelot Merlin."
"Excalibur has been stolen." My eyes widened before I quickly stood up throwing the chair back. "Was it Morgen le Fey who stole it?"
"I'm afraid I am unsure of who was the one to steal it for you see a giant griffin broke into the roundtable room and grabbed Excalibur before the knights could react and took off with it."
"Is Arthur alright?"
"He broke his arm but fortunately it shall heal with time and he received no other injuries." Before I could say anything else a cough from behind me caught my attention and I turned to see everyone looking at us as the sultan said.
"Hiccup would you please explain to us what's happening and what exactly is this Excalibur."
"Excalibur is a magic sword belonging to the king of Camelot, Arthur." I then gestured to Merlin. "This is Merlin, Arthurs chief advisor and the greatest wizard in Britain." Merlin bowed.
"Charmed!" I then turned back to him.
"Alright Merlin now could you please tell us why you've come all this way to find me?"
"I feel that something evil is coming Hiccup and with Excalibur gone I fear for Camelot and its inhabitants." He sighed. "I was hoping you'd be willing to come to our aid and search for Excalibur while we handled things in Camalot."
"You know I'd do anything for a friend Merlin."
"So, you you'll come back to Camelot with me?"
"Gladly but first give me a chance to say goodbye to everyone." Henodded before I turned back to those still sitting at the table. "I'm afraid that I've got to cut my time here short everyone." They all smiled as Amira said.
"We understand Hiccup but be careful out there since if what you've told us is true then chances are you'll have to deal with more than a few mystical beasts on this journey."
"With my luck there's no doubt about it but hey the most fearsome beasts I'm going to face will only be dealt with after this next adventure." They all looked at me confused before Aamin asked.
"What beasts could possibly be so fearsome?"
"Easy, my parents who are no doubt going to be very angry with me for jumping right into another life risking adventure right after I got out of one against a demon." They all chuckled as the sultan said.
"True enough, there is no more fierce or intimidating creature in this world than an angry parent." He looked at Amira and Aamin. "We do worry about our children." He then looked back up at me. "Be careful Hiccup." I nodded.
"I will." I then turned backto Merlin. "Alright Merlin, just give me some time to gather my gear and we can go."
He simple nodded before I ran out to gather my belongings which included my demon weapons since I had the feeling I was going to need them. Five minutes later I was back in the room with my spider pack on my back holding my kappa shell helmet, Pirus and Ventus while my remaining demon weapons were in my arm. I stared at Merlin who stared back silently asking me if I was ready to go to which I gave a nod followed by.
"Let's go." He smiled as he raised his arms with a light blue glow covering them.
"Come forth power, spread apart and carry us back body, mind and heart."
The ground below me glowed the same color taking the form of a pattern as it began rising giving me the familiar strange feeling before light filled my vision blinding me. When I opened my eyes again I found that we were in the very same clearing where Merlin brought me the first time I ever came to Camelot. (AN: Chapter 68.) I smiled as I looked around since I got so wrapped up in all of my adventures and life in general I never got the chance to return to Camelot for a visit. I looked around at the fields and smiled since they reminded me of Ireland and made a mental note to visit both there and Scotland sometime in the future to see some old friends and possibly enjoy some down time where I won't have to face monsters or crooks in some battle. I turned back to Toothless who was rolling around in the grass making me chuckle before I turned to Merlin and said.
"We better get back to the castle and let Arthur know I'm here." He nodded.
"Agreed."
"Can you bring us there by magic or should I have Toothless fly us there."
"Travelling such a long way has severely drained my powers so it best that Toothless fly us there." I nodded before I brought two fingers to my lips and let out a whistle gaining Toothless' attention and making him stop rolling around in the grass to look at me.
"Come on bud, we've got to get to Camelot."
He growled and nodded while allowing me and Merlin to mount him before we took off for the castle at top speed since I wanted to get there as soon as possible. As we flew above the land I talked with Merlin about the griffin that stole Excalibur since it might provide a clue as to who's behind the theft. At first, I figured it would be Morgen le Fey but Merlin shot this theory down claiming it wasn't her style since she isn't the type to go for direct attacks by sending a minion to collect the Excalibur with it being too blunt for her taste. Morgen le Fey prefers to be more complicated plans to confuse her opponents and to make things more difficult for them in order to allow her to buy enough time to accomplish her goal. Despite this fact Merlin told me how the griffin seemed to reek of dark magic which was her specialty, especially when it came to altering living beings to be of more use to her. It was then we came to land in the palace courtyard where I was immediately led into the castle by Merlin who told me that king Arthur would want to see me immediately. We made our way through the halls of the castle to Arthurs study where we'd find him since according to Merlin he'd been wondering what he could do to defend Camelot without Excalibur.
We reached a large door with two guards armed with spears standing on either side of it but they stepped aside when they saw us coming. Merlin pushed the doors open to reveal a large room with a desk with some parchment on it, a quill in an inkpot and a candle in a holder. There was also a carpet on the floor and a fire built into one wall with two fur lined chairs on either side of it and the king of Camelot sitting in the one on the right. Arthur was just sitting there with his right arm wrapped up in bandages and resting in a sling while he stared intently at the flames in the fireplace in what I assume is deep thought. Merlin then let out a cough to gain his attention but he didn't turn back to face us as he said.
"Merlin, I'm afraid I am in no mood to talk as of this moment."
"Forgive me sire but I have with help in the search for Excalibur." He turned to face us and saw me and Toothless before a smile came to his face as he stood up and held out his left hand.
"Hiccup Haddock, it is so good to see both you and Toothless during these troubled times." I bowed to him since he was a king before standing back up.
"It's good to see you to your majesty but I do wish it was during better times."
"As do I my friend." He let out a sigh and sat back down. "How could I have been so slow, I gave that beast more than enough time to steal Excalibur and because of my mistake not only is Excalibur gone but I'm injured leaving Camelot more vulnerable then ever."
"You can't blame yourself for what happened your highness, from what I'm told that griffin caught you by surprise and that is why it was able to beat you."
"But still without Excalibur I am- "I cut him off.
"Still a great leader who's needed by his people more than ever during these times." He looked at me. "A magic sword doesn't make you a leader, your heart and choices are what makes you a great leader and from what I've seen in the past and heard from others, you are without a doubt one of the greatest leaders I've ever met." He smiled.
"Thank you Hiccup but I still need Excalibur to help me defend Camelot."
"I'll go looking for it and bring it back to you while Toothless stays here to help guard Camelot."
"But Hiccup that Griffin could've taken it anywhere in the time it's been gone so wouldn't things be easier for you if you took Toothless." I smiled at him remembering something I kept in my spider pack in case I needed to go looking for things.
"What is this item you possess that can help you find it." I had my spider pack reach in and pull out the compass I got from Rooney which I admit I hadn't used in a long time before placing it in my hand. (AN: Chapter 65 if you don't remember)
"This compass can lead me to anything or anybody I think of no matter where in the land they are." They stared at me before Merlin asked.
"Hiccup, what is that thing on your back which you pulled your compass out of?"
"My spider pack is a magical satchel that can hold a large number of items without becoming heavier or filling up while also doubling as both a weapon and a tool for climbing." They stared at me. "A lot has happened in my life since we last met." They both nodded as Arthur said.
"When you get back you really need to catch us up on what's happened with you."
"I'll be more than happy to tell you everything but only after Excalibur is back in your hands where it belongs." He smiled.
"Before you go you should stock up on supplies such as food and water."
"I will need to collect food but water won't be a problem since on my last adventure I was gifted with a water skin that has an endless supply of drinking water in it." Merlin stroked his beard.
"Impressive!" Arthur then said.
"And definitely something that would help one on long journeys." I nodded.
"Agreed but we'll have to discuss it later since there's no telling what's happened to Excalibur by now." They nodded before Arthur asked.
"Do you remember the way to the kitchen?" I nodded.
"I remember."
"Go there and stock up on supplies and I shall see you off in the courtyard." I nodded to him in thanks before taking off towards the kitchen to gather supplies for the long journey ahead.
Half-an-hour later
I was standing in the castle courtyard with Merlin and Arthur standing in front and watching me as I held Toothless' head rubbing it as he crooned. I gave him another scratch as I said.
"I know you want to come with me Toothless but right now you're needed here in Camelot to look after the king." He let out another croon. "Don't worry bud, I'll be back as soon as I can." He let out another growl and nodded before walking to Arthurs side as Arthur asked.
"Hiccup are you sure you wish to leave Toothless here with us instead of taking him with you."
"Right now, in your condition your vulnerable and need all the protection you can get while I go to find Excalibur." He nodded.
"Your concern touches me Hiccup and I thank you for taking on this task but do be careful since there's no telling what is waiting out there and pose a threat to you." I smiled.
"Don't worry, I've gone up against more than enough dangerous creatures to have enough experience to deal with anything this land throws at me." Merlin then said.
"Be careful Hiccup for arrogance comes before the fall."
"I know Merlin, just saying that I'm sure I can handle what I go up against." I shrugged. "Once going up against a titan who can control time and a demon lord who corrupted my prosthetic arm while draining the power from my god made weapons to form a new weapon that could kill the gods, nothing really fazes me." I then noticed them staring at me with their mouths hanging open. "I'll tell you when I get back." They shook their heads before Arthur said.
"I'll be more than happy to lend you one of my finest horses to ride." I shook my head.
"Thanks for the offer but that won't be needed." My spider pack lifted its left leg and reached into spider pack and pulled out my kappa shell helmet that grew back to its full size before being placed into my hands. "I've got this to help me travel across the land." They each raised an eyebrow and turned their eyes to each other before turning back to me. "I'll explain when I get back." I dropped the shell to the ground but before it could hit the ground the blades began rapidly spinning making it hover before I hopped on. "I'll be back as quick as I can with Excalibur in hand." With that said I took out the front gates on the shell and down the road with the compass in hand to guide my way to where Excalibur now lay.
5 hours later
I've been travelling on my kappa shell for a total of four hours not counting the two half hours I took to enjoy a short lunch break and look around the area I was in. So far there'd been no sign of Excalibur or the griffin that took it but I had the feeling I was getting close to at least a clue to where it was and I'm glad since it was only an hour away from sunset. It was then I looked down at the ground and realized I'd entered a large dent in the ground that was only a foot deep but there was something off about it. I did a sweep of the dent and found another like it only a few feet away and realized this wasn't just a dent but a giant foot print. To say I was shocked would be an understatement since whatever it was had to be as big as Kronos or at least the size of one of my bewilderbeasts. I looked down at the footprint before the sound of a scream caught my attention and I forgot about the footprint to see where the scream came from only to see a large tunnel made of thorny branches. I immediately got back onto my kappa shell while placing the compass back into my spider pack and speeding off towards the tunnel.
When I got there, I found a young woman helping an injured man run with a two headed dragon, from a man with red hair flowing down his shoulders wearing red and black armor wielding a sword. Following close behind him were beings I'd never heard of let alone seen but I had the feeling that dark magic played a part in their creation. There was a short one with axe blades for hands, a crested head that looked like an axe, grey skin with black armor that looked to be a part of his body with glowing green eyes. There was also an obese one that was slightly taller than the first with the same features in skin and the same glowing green eyes but he had black hair tied upwards, his right hand had four metal claws while his left hand resembled my prosthetic when it launches balls but without the hand attachment. Finally, there's the tall slim one that has the same features as the other two but it had a spiked head with its right arm possessing three knifelike claws while the left was a full blade. It was then I saw something following behind them that showed me they were the bad guys was that running at their side was a large griffin with glowing green eyes, black wings and head and a brown body. I knew this was the griffin that stole Excalibur from a description that Arthur gave me and if it was with those guys then the ones they were chasing were possible allies meaning I needed to help them.
With these thoughts in mind released my spirit bow and took out a wind arrow and an ice arrow before loading them up and taking aim at the slim being that was about to bring its claws down on the girl who was shielding the man. Before it could bring the blade down however I let the arrows sending a blizzard like blast of air at the creature sending it flying back into the other two and covering them in a thin lair of ice. They all stared at the frozen creatures in shock as I collapsed my spirit bow and put my kappa shell back into my spider pack before they all turned to face me but before anything could be said I activated my ox flame boots speed mode and ran to the two people being chased, picked them up with one under each arm and ran back to the forest entrance with them. When we stopped the woman looked at me with her mouth opening to ask a question but before she could the dragon came running out surprisingly screaming in fear confusing me. I shook my head knowing it was a question for a later time and turned back to the girl as I said.
"Get your wounded friend out of here and somewhere safe."
"But what about you?" I turned back to the creatures that had just broken out of the ice.
"I'll buy you as much time as I can but I'm not sure how much time I can buy you so hurry." She nodded as they ran away with her supporting the man while I turned back to the creatures which were now charging at me with the man at the front yelling.
"GET THAT MAN!" They all charged at me as I smiled and released my axe.
"Another day another group of monsters being led by a psychopath for me to fight." I unfolded my eagle shield. "Just another day in my life." I then charged at them with my axe raised.
Nobodies POV:
Hiccup charged at Ruber's charging minions as the arrow shooting thug launched three arrows at him but he held up his eagle shield blocking them and making them shatter on impact. It was then the shorter being reached Hiccup as he raised his axe hands and brought them down on Hiccup who held up his shield blocking the blow. The shockwave that followed the strike didn't shatter the beings axe blades but it did throw him back into the arrow shooting thug making them both rolling back but the tall one, Ruber and the griffin dodged the rolling foes. They didn't get much time to think about it though since Hiccup jumped and slammed his axe into the ground causing a shockwave that threw them back but also woke up beings made of the thorny branches.
These beings immediately began grabbing around in the dirt trying to grab the intruders but Hiccup was too quick and ran for the exit to avoid them. He turned back and saw Ruber and his minions had recovered from the blow and were now charging towards the exit themselves while avoiding the hands of the beings. It was then Hiccup was struck with an idea on how to stop them in their tracks and buy him more than enough time to escape from Ruber and his group. He pulled his axe back into his arm while folding his eagle shield back up and instead releasing his spirit bow while taking out an earth arrow and taking aim. When he saw Ruber and his men were closing into the right spot he let the arrow fly and smiled as it landed on the exact targeted spot right before Ruber and his minions fell right into a pit that opened beneath their feet. They immediately tried to climb out but it closed up around them making them try to dig their way out as Hiccup pulled his bow back into his arm and switched it for his hook. He pointed his hook at the arm of the thorny branch being that was closest to them and launched it at the creatures' arm before smiling as it wrapped around it and hooked the arm. The creature turned to see what had its arm but Hiccup began to reel it back to him pulling the arm before he gave it one hard tug making the creatures hand slam onto Ruber and his forces burying them. Hiccup smiled at the sight when the hand didn't move before he said.
"That'll hold them for a few hours." He then looked back to the exit of the tunnel. "Now to go make sure those people are alright." He brought out his kappa shell and compass before hopping onto the shell and taking off, compass in hand as he focused on finding the people to hopefully get answers on who that guy was and what his minions were.
One hour later
Hiccups POV:
I was still flying on my kappa shell following my compass to find the travelers who were attacked to make sure they're okay and to find out why they were being chased. It was then I arrived on top of a large hill looking out into a field with a faint blur moving through it but it was times like these I was grateful for my eagle eye. Using it I was able to see that the blur was the group of travelers I was looking for bringing a smile to my face as I took off after them at full speed. When I got close to them I'm guessing they heard the rotating blades of the shell since they all stopped and turned to face me. When they saw it was me the woman said.
"You're here!" I nodded as I picked up my kappa shell while the man asked.
"Were you following us?" I turned to him to nod but saw he was blind so instead I said.
"I was because I was hoping to ask some questions like who that guy who was chasing you is and what were those things with him." He readied his staff.
"How do we know we can trust you?"
"Because if I wanted to hurt you then I would've done so in that tunnel made of thorny branches." He lowered his staff as much to my shock the fatter head of the dragon said.
"Good point!" I immediately turned to face it and asked.
"Did you just speak?" Then the thinner head said.
"Yes, I know it's a shock." He waved his claw around. "I was just as amazed as you are that he had the brains to speak." I just stared at them with my jaw hanging open which I'm guessing they noticed. "Oh, our apologies my dear fellow for forgetting to introduce ourselves." He then used his claw to gesture to himself. "I'm Devon and this growth on my neck is Cornwall." I just kept staring at them before Cornwall said.
"Hey buddy if you're going to just keep staring at us like that then paint a portrait it'll last longer." I shook my head.
"I'm sorry but I've lived with dragons most of my life and never once have I met one that could actually speak."
"Wait a minute, do you mean those fire breathing bullies back in the dragon lands who kept picking on us." I shook my head.
"No, you see I'm not from around here, I grew up on an island that was often raided by dragons with my people locked in a bloody war with them until I met Toothless." They looked to each other before turning back to me. "He's a dragon I trained who also has retractable teeth." They both went.
"Oh!" It was then a hand fell on my shoulder and I turned to see the girl staring at me.
"I'm sorry but did you say you trained a dragon." I nodded before stepping back and bowing.
"Hiccup Haddock, dragon trainer, adventurer, explorer, knight of the round table and so much more at your service." I saw them all stare at me in shock.
"You're Hiccup Haddock?" I nodded.
"Yeah."
"The same man who severed his own arm in order to continue to fight Morgan le Fey and save Camelot."
"You've heard of me?" The man replied.
"My dear fellow, I doubt there's a single person in Camelot who hasn't heard of you after what you did in order to save this kingdom." I nodded.
"Well I'm afraid you both seem to have me at a disadvantage since I don't know your names." The girl replied.
"I'm sorry about that." She gestured to herself. "I'm Kayley." She then gestured to the man. "And this is Garett." He nodded to me before a silver winged falcon I recognized as Merlin's pet Ayden. "And that falcon there is Ayden." I turned to him and gently stroked his back.
"I know, Ayden here and I have met before but that's a story for another time." I turned back to Kayley. "For now I'd like to know the story about who that guy chasing you was and what the heck his pals were."
"His names Ruber!" My eyes widened.
"As in the disgraced knight of the round table who hasn't been heard from since killing Sir Lionel?" She looked down at this and gave a small nod.
"Sir Lionel was my father." This shocked me.
"I'm sorry, I never got the chance to meet your father but both Arthur and all of the knights speak very highly of him and if he was willing to sacrifice his life to save Arthur then he was one of the greatest knights to honor the halls of Camelot." She nodded and looked up at me with a sad smile.
"Thank you." I smiled back.
"Anyway, I know the griffin that was with them is the one that stole Excalibur but other than that I'm not sure what's going on."
"Ruber intends to take Excalibur and use it to overthrow Arthur and take over Camelot." I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
"Typical villain." I then looked back up. "Now what exactly were those things with him?"
"They were once normal men, basically thugs and outcasts until Ruber used some form of dark magic to merge them with weapons and turn them into what they are now." I nodded.
"Are there more of them?" She frowned.
"A large group of them are traveling towards Camelot now in wagons being led by my mother who's being forced by Ruber to do so." I clenched my fists in anger at the man who would threaten a person's mother like that.
"If that's the case then we need to find Excalibur and get it back to Camelot fast." Everyone nodded. "Do you have any idea where it might be?"
"We believe it was picked up by whatever left these foot prints since we found the scabbards belt in its footprint and we've been following it to try and retrieve it." I smiled.
"Then let's not waste any time and go after it." Garett then said.
"You're not going to try and stop us?"
"No, in these cases it helps to have others around to back you up and besides you all started this journey and I'm not going to allow you to just stop in the middle of it." They all smiled before Kayley said.
"Thank you and with your dragon we'll be able to speed things up." She then looked around. "If you don't mind me asking, where is your dragon?"
"I left him back in Camelot to help protect Arthur in case of trouble." She nodded as Garett said.
"Smart choice." Aden then flew back to his shoulder as I said.
"Let's get going since every minute we waste Rubers army gets closer to Camelot." They nodded before we took off following the tracks.
One hour later
It's been an hour since I met up with this rag tag group and in that time, we'd mostly been talking and getting to know each other so we knew who we were going to be working alongside. From this I learnt that both Garett and Kayley wished to be knights but due to his blindness Garett believed it wouldn't be possible for him to do so. I slapped him on the back of the head for that claiming that all a true knight needs is the will to serve his king, defend the weak and serve the kingdom and from what I've seen he is more than worthy of being a knight. As for Kayley she was on this adventure to not only save her mother and stop Ruber but to also prove herself worthy of being a knight like her father. Other than this it wasn't hard to see that there was romance blooming between the two of them. Then there's Devon and Cornwall who reminded me a lot of a zippleback I had back in Glacia's nest since like them the heads were constantly fighting except they only used their heads to fight while Devon and Cornwall used their fists.
Besides that, we'd been following the tracks to try and find Excalibur and now we were absolutely sure that it was in the possession of the creature that left the tracks. The reason is we encountered the creature when it walked past us dropping the scabbard that belonged to Excalibur and revealing the creature itself to be an ogre. To describe the ogre, I had to say it was as big as a bewilderbeast with skin that was covered in moss and made it look to be made out of stone. I knew that even with my entire arsenal of god made weapons I wouldn't stand a chance against it so stealth was our best option. Fortunately, the ogre had laid down to sleep with Excalibur exposed, which brings us to where we are now. I was slowly lowering myself towards Excalibur using my hook to hold onto the edge of a cliff and my arms ability to launch it to lower myself down while the others kept watch. It was then Kayley whispered loudly.
"Hurry up Hiccup." I looked back up at her.
"I'm trying to make as little noise as possible."
"I'm sorry but Rubben and his men are here." I looked to the path leading to the edge and saw them making their way as Rubben mounted the griffin.
"Just great." It was then the griffin let out a sneeze that seemed to echo through the place and awakened the ogre, which was looking right at me but thinking fast I quickly began rocking my body from side to side making me swing while whispering. "Sleepy, you're getting very sleepy."
I smiled as it closed its eyes and went back to sleep allowing me to continue lowering myself down and grab Excalibur and begin pulling myself back up. As I did though I saw Rubben and the griffin flying at me making me will my arm to speed up but when they were right in front of the ogres face it let out a large yawn throwing them back and onto the ground since the griffin lost control. I smiled as I made it back onto the edge with Garret and Kayley helping me up before I saw Rubbens men making their way towards us. We immediately ran the opposite way with them giving chase before the ogre began to stretch pushing its hand to the wall along with Rubbens men making me wince knowing that it had to hurt. When it pulled its hand away I saw they were fine but imbedded in the wall and shrugged as we made it down the tunnel towards the exit but I turned back to make sure we weren't being followed just in time to see Rubben and the griffin get trapped beneath the ogres' butt. I chuckled at this before turning back to the path ahead and smiled at the entrance that was in sight and with Excalibur in my hand I knew part of this adventure was over. I then heard a rumble followed by the sound of breaking wind and turned back to see Rubben and the Griffin flying at us and yelled.
"DUCK!"
Everyone lowered their heads just as they flew over us and slammed into the wall each avoiding three just out of the wall but it did not look comfortable for them since two were beneath their armpits and the other ones were between their legs. When we made it out I turned back to the tunnel as I took out an earth arrow and stabbed it into the wall causing a cave in before turning back to everyone as I said.
"That won't hold them for long." I ran up to them as Devon and Cornwall stood at the edge of the cliff before Devon said.
"There's no way out." Kayley replied.
"There's one way out, you'll have to fly."
"We can't fly!"
Kayley just grabbed Garret and me by the arms charged at them before smashing into them sending us all off the cliff but luckily Devon and Cornwall made a good sled. I past Excalibur to Kayley as I grabbed onto Devons horns to avoid shaking as I released my crystal spear before slamming the spear end into the ground to try and steer them. It was then the sound of clanking metal coming from behind us caught my attention and I turned to see Ruber's men rolling down the hill after us. I knew we needed a way to escape them and a way to turn the way we were going before we hit the rocks awaiting us at the bottom of the slope. I looked to my spear and an idea formed before I quickly flipped it over so the crystal end was now facing the ground as I slashed it forward in a curve making a large slope of green crystals burst from the ground ahead. We slid across it turning direction going down another slope before Rubers men smashed through it and into the rocks below. As we scraped down the remainder of the slope towards a pond I smiled knowing this little sled ride was coming to an end. When we landed Devon and Cornwall backside was steaming from the heat that was generated from the ride before I looked to Kayley who was looking down at Excalibur in shock as she said.
"We did it!" She then smiled. "We did it, I can't believe we did it." I smiled as I got off Devon and Cornwall who were begging to hold Excalibur before Garett said.
"No, Excalibur only belongs in the hands of Arthur." I nodded.
"Well said Garett." I then walked out of the water. "Now come on guys we need to get it back and the sooner the better." They all nodded before we began walking.
One hour later
It's been an hour since our little sled ride and since then not much has happened but what did happen had quite an effect on our little group. For starters we'd made it to the edge of the forest but when we did Garett claimed he doesn't belong in Camelot despite Kayley telling him that we should all deliver the sword together and I agreed with her. Despite this he refused to listen and made his way into the forest making me sigh and shake my head before I turned to Devon and Cornwall and told them to go with Kayley while I dealt with Garett. They nodded and ran after Kayley who had begun walking ahead while I ran after Garett, which brings us to where I am now and that is finding Garett walking into a clearing with Ayden. With his back turned to me I said.
"You know you shouldn't turn your back on your friends." He turned back to face me.
"It's better that we part ways now instead of in her world."
"And why is that?"
"She'd begin to see me through their eyes."
"And what are you in their eyes?"
"I'm nothing." I sighed and shook my head.
"There used to be a time people used to believe the same thing about me." He looked at me. "I was the runt in my village who couldn't do anything, now I could've done what you did and isolate myself from everyone but I chose instead to prove them wrong." I placed my hand on his shoulder. "Garett you're also wrong about Kayley, do you really think that's how she'll see you after this entire adventure you've both been through together?" Before he could reply Devon and Cornwall came running down the path babbling like crazy making me sigh and hold up both hands. "Guys, one at a time so we can actually understand you." Devon then said.
"Kayley's been captured." Cornwall then continued.
"And Ruber has Excalibur." My eyes widened at this as Garett asked.
"What?" I simply replied.
"We have to save her." He nodded and called Ayden to him as Cornwall said.
"They're probably halfway to Camelot by now." Devon replied.
"Cornwall is right, I mean we'd have to fly there to get there in time." They then began talking about how angry Ruber made them and how they wanted to hurt them without realizing they'd begun to fly until I said.
"Devon, Cornwall you're flying." They looked down and realized they were before they began fighting over who was responsible for it and then falling into a puddle of mud splashing it onto me and Garett who then said.
"Don't you get it, the only reason you can't fly is because you can't agree on anything." I then continued with.
"There's got to be something you two agree on like your hatred for Ruber or your love for Kayley." They looked at each other as I smiled.
Meanwhile in Camelot
Nobodies POV:
Arthur was in his bedroom sitting in a wooden chair with Toothless curled around him protectively and Merlin standing in front of him before a night walked in and said.
"Parden me my king, lady Juliana has paid us a surprise visit." Arthur slowly stood up.
"Oh uh, good, tell her I'll receive her at the round table." Toothless got up to follow but Arthur held up his hand. "Don't worry Toothless, I don't need any protection from a kind soul like lady Juliana."
While this happened, outside in the courtyard lady Juliana lead a line of fifteen wagons into the palace courtyard each holding Rubers men with Ruber himself now wearing a black cloak and riding a black horse rode next to her. As his men lay in wait for the moment to strike Kayley sat in the back of her mother's wagon with her arms tied up behind her back and her mouth gagged. She'd just tripped her guard who smashed through the floor and was now stabbing his claws through the floor trying to stab her while she rolled away from the strikes. It was then a chicken turned axe beaked minion offered his assistance allowing her to cut the ropes around her hands freeing her. With her hands now free Kayley took off her gag and ran out the front of the wagon as she yelled.
"IT'S A TRAP!" As soon as she said this Ruber charged at the doors on his horse as he yelled.
"ATTACK!" His men jumped from the wagons beginning the attack as Ruber continued his charge. "SEAL OFF THE CASTLE!"
The people ran screaming as Ruber kicked the guards down with two of his own men following him with one being the arrow launching minion and the other having chains holding large spiked balls for arms. The knights charged at the invaders weapons ready only to find them useless against these iron beings who simply then swatted them away as if they were nothing. Even the large group charging the doors to help their king was thrown back by a single one of Ruber's men. As the chaos reigned through the courtyard Kayley heard one of the guards tell the others that Ruber had breached the castle and how Arthur was still inside. With this knowledge and knowing her duty was to her king she looked around for a way in and saw a walkway into one of the towers before turning to her mother and telling her.
"Mother, I must help the king!"
She then ran up the steps leading to the wall before running across the walkway but as she was halfway across the first part Rubers griffin came flying in. She ran back towards the wall and jumped just as it smashed into the walkway destroying it and forcing her to jump the rest of the way, barely making it onto the wall. Sadly, one of Rubers men came charging at her from both sides making her hop onto the wall to try and avoid them with her back facing out into the land. The man with axe hands swung at her making her lean back and fall over but as she did Garett on the back of Devon and Cornwall next to Hiccup pushed her back up using his stick as she said.
"Garett, you came back!" He simply replied.
"Heads up." She ducked as Devon and Cornwall swung their tail at Rubers men sending them falling over the wall before Garett hopped off and onto the wall where Kayley hugged him making Hiccup smile before she turned to Devon and Cornwall and said.
"You're flying." Devon replied.
"Yes we're frequent flyers now." Hiccup hopped off his back and said.
"I hate to break up this touching moment but Camelot is under attack." They both turned to me. "Now where's Ruber?" Kayley replied.
"He has the king trapped inside and there's no way in." Hiccup growled in anger before Garett said.
"Wait I know of a way, through the stables."
They looked out to the courtyard but before they could do anything Rubers griffin flew up ready to attack them. Before it could do anything though Ayden flew in and slammed into its head gaining its attention as he flew away with the griffin chasing after him. Hiccup smiled at this until he realized there were two of Rubers men on the wall and cutting them off. Before Hiccup or Garret could react, Kayley grabbed their hands and pulled them off the wall into a wagon full of hay with Hiccup and Kayley falling into the hay and Garret falling into the driver's seat before they took off with Garret steering. Hiccup and Kayley held on for dear life as Kayley yelled out directions to Garret to avoid both the roaring fires and Rubers men. When they were nearing the wall, the wagon made a sharp turn making it fall over with its inhabitants flying to the stables and landing in sacks of grains. Garret breathed heavily and said.
"See?" Hiccup turned to him. "That wasn't so bad, was it?" Hiccup shrugged.
"I've been through worse but let's focus on this entrance you told us about." He then looked at the knights fighting Rubers men. "But first." He walked over to the ground and placed his prosthetic hand against it before he said in Egyptian. "Soldiers of Anubis, come to my aid for I am in need of your strength and the innocent are in need of your protection!" As soon as the words left his mouth fifty Anubis warriors formed as he ordered. "Help the knights fight off those metal beings." They growled and charged into attack Rubers men as Hiccup turned back to Kayley and Garett with Kayley staring at him as he shrugged. "I'll tell you later but for now, Garett the entrance."
"Right!" He walked over to a large stone and lifted it to reveal a stairway before walking down. "These tunnels lead to the round table."
Kayley and Hiccup followed him as Hiccup channelled a red crystal igniting his arm to light the way while allowing Garett to lead the way. When they reached the end they pushed the large stone blocking the way revealing the round table room where Ruber stood on top of the table with Arthur who he was trying to kill using Excalibur which had merged with his arm. Ruber yelled how he'd get rid of Arthur like he did Lionel before Kayley began climbing a ladder leading to a platform with a wooden beam being held by rope. While she did this Hiccup released his star sword and ran at the round table just as Ruber brought Excalibur down on Arthur but before it could touch him Hiccup used his sword to block the blow making Ruber turn to him and yell.
"YOU?" Hiccup just smirked.
"Mind if I cut in?" He then slammed into Ruber making him stumble back as Hiccup helped Arthur back up.
"How dare you oppose the new king!" Before Hiccup could reply Kayley who was now standing on the wooden beam said.
"Hey Ruber!" He looked up at her and asked.
"You?"
"I will not serve the false king." With that said she swung down on the wooden beam hitting Ruber and sending both him and herself out the window with Hiccup giving chase and leaving just in time to see Ruber get up as he said.
"You're in the way, just like your father." Kayley hid behind a stone pillar. "Since you're dying to be like him" He swung his sword at her but she ducked and ran for the stone in the centre. "let's see if I can't help you out!" He walked towards her as Garett snuck up behind him and swung his stick at him but Ruber turned and swung his sword at it cutting it in two. "Oopsie daisy you probably needed that." He picked him up by the back of his shirt and threw him at Kaylee. "Where's your pigeon now?" Hiccup ran past him to help them and when he reached them he helped lift Garret as Kaylee said.
"Hold your ground until the last possible moment." Seeing the stone behind them he knew what she meant as Garett said.
"Yes and you give the signal." They looked back at Ruber as he said.
"Three for the price of one, this must be my lucky day." He then stabbed forward as Kayley said.
Now!" She dodged to the left while Hiccup and Garret dodged to the right and Ruber stabbed Excalibur into the stone.
"Oh no, the stone."
The three rings engraved on the stone glowed light blue as the thorny branches that had grown on snapped off as magic flowed up Excalibur it and taking a lightning like form. Green mist also flowed from it as light shone down onto it before sending out a shockwave of magic through the castle returning all his men back to human form and healing Arthurs arm. Once it was healed the magic flowed upwards stripping Ruber of his armour as he laughed before he disintegrated. All that was left was a single shoulder pad that fell from the sky before Kayley ran and embraced Garret while Hiccup picked up the shoulder pad while muttering how it'd make a good souvenir from this trip. It was then Devon and Cornwall along with Ayden flew in just as Arthur walked into the garden and up to the stone before pulling Excalibur free from it like he did so long ago. Hiccup smiled at the sight but knew his time here in Camelot wasn't over yet since he still had to catch up with his friends and stick around for what was sure to be the knighting of both Kayley and Garett.
Two weeks later
Hiccups POV:
It's been two weeks since the fall of Ruber and in that time a lot has happened here in Camelot starting with all of Rubers men being rounded up and thrown in the dungeon. Along with that Kayley and Garret were married and knighted making them both knights of the round table. Their ceremony was a truly beautiful thing to watch but the last time I saw them was yesterday riding on a horse down the road with a wooden sign that read 'JUST KNIGHTED'. Along with this Arthur and Merlin had me sit down at the round table with both Kayley and Garret to explain what happened on the journey here. They were impressed with what they heard but before I could get away Kayley asked me about my Anubis warriors and god made weapons which lead to a four hour long question and answer session followed by an hour long demonstration of my god made weapons, prosthetics abilities and the skill both my Anubis warriors and ninja's possessed. Along with this Merlin did some research on the remnants of the magic Ruber used and identified it as Morgan le Fey's which brought up the question of why she'd give Ruber this power. Merlin after more studying was then able to reveal that I along with its transmogrifying capabilities it also had mind control abilities. From there it wasn't hard to figure out that Ruber didn't know and she was going to take control once Arthur was out of the way.
Now that that is all over and done with I was walking through my portal door with Toothless at my side and my spider pack now not only holding the items I got from Arabia but also the shoulder pad of Ruber, some seeds to the plants from the forbidden forest and a chest of gold from Arthur. I told him the gold wasn't necessary but he insisted claiming that I'd really helped both him and Camelot so I more than deserved it. I knew better than to argue with the king so I accepted it and planned to put it in the vault as soon as I get home. I smiled and turned to Toothless and said.
"Let's go home bud, I have the feeling my parents are going to want answers to a lot of questions that they've begun thinking of when we didn't come home." He just crooned and tilted his head.
