Chapter 135

Hiccups POV:

It's been nine days since my battle with the grootslang and took down Kallan and in that time a lot has happened with both the tribe and myself. To begin with Mosi had banished Kallan from the tribe after he had messengers sent to all the tribes allies to inform them of Kallans deeds and how he was not to be accepted for his crimes. Other than that, Rashidi had tended and bandaged up my wound but he told me it would leave a scar to which I only laughed and told him its only fun if you get a scar out of it. There were some strange things happening like when I went to see if I could get something from the grootslang for a souvenir every part of the body was completely gone leaving only a skull with no skin or meat whatsoever. I did find it strange but I figured it was just a side effect from the beast being slain and the skull made a nice souvenir but it was big so it wouldn't fit into my spider pack so I brought out my ship in a large river to load it up for when I leave.

While my ship was out I also took the liberty of unloading my spider pack of the treasures I got from the heart of the leopard when I defeated queen Shara, along with the leopard man uniform, the pelt of the isitwalangcengce, the chains and harness that held the ninki nanka and of course all the samples from the plants I got using my gathering chameleon. Along with this I'd also loaded up all the gems from the cave of the grootslang which I tried to give to the tribe but Mosi told me that as the one who slayed the grootslang its riches rightfully belong to me and his tribe had little use for the gems. Knowing this I loaded the gems onto my ship and knew they would look good in my vault and figure I might be able to put them to good use in the future.

Now it was early in the morning to the point where the sun had yet to rise and I was walking through the savannah with Rashidi while wearing nothing but a black African loincloth around my waste and the necklace I received from Kwame with my African club in my prosthetic hand. The reason for this is he told me that there are some who wished to speak with me and that I needed to meet them tonight and it best I only wear these items and to bring my club to be in their presence. I didn't understand why but I trusted Rashidi with my life after how he stopped the people from attacking me in when Kallan tried to place the blame the attacks on the tribe on me. I was still keeping my guard up though since him waking me up when it's still dark and asking me to come meet some people alone is a little suspicious so who could blame me. It was then I was brought out of my thoughts by the sound of Rashidi's voice when he said.

"We have arrived!" I looked around to see what he meant only to see we were standing in the middle of an open field and standing in front of a single large baobab tree with boulders painted with African patterns, gourds and bells on ropes hanging from the tree but the thing that caught my attention the most was a large opening at the base of the tree with intricate carvings above it of a lion, an elephant head, a buck and a gorilla.

"And where exactly is here?" He smiled at me.

"You shall know soon enough." It was then he made his way into the tree only stopping to turn back to me and say. "Come!"

I nodded and followed him into the tree but when we fully entered I found there to be a whole lot more to the tree then it seemed as we were now standing in a large circular cave with the roots of the tree covering parts of the wall. The roots were holding gourds, fruits I didn't recognize and a few bowls while between them were intricate African tribal paintings and in the center of it was a man-sized rectangular shaped hole full of orange sand that was had four other circular holes around it filled with the same sand. The thing that caught my attention the most though was the man standing behind this hole who had grey hair sticking out of the sides of his hair which looked as if he'd been standing next to a skrill, a wooden staff that had two gourds tied to the top, wearing the skin of a springbuck around his waist and one around his upper shoulders tied around his shoulders covering his upper torso. The thing that caught my attention the most with him though were his blind eyes that seemed to glow as they stared right at me making me feel as if he were looking into my very soul. Rashidi walked up to him and bowed before turning back to me as he said.

"Hiccup this is the high sangoma who communicates with the gods and ancestors Abdalalim." I nodded. "He is a mute so he does not speak but has a way of letting us know what he wishes us to do and he is the one who asked me to bring you here." I nodded as Abdalalim continued to stare at me.

"So why am I here exactly?" Abdalalim smiled and turned to Rashidi who answered.

"Hiccup you were brought here because it is you who has been chosen to take part in a sacred ceremony."

"Tell me it's not a wedding ceremony where I'm the groom or one where I die." Rashidi chuckled while Abdalalim simply smiled.

"No Hiccup we are not marrying you off and I assure you that we shall not be trying to kill you."

"Then I'm okay but what must I do." He smiled.

"Just kneel down and we shall begin."

I nodded and kneeled down with my club in my lap as Rashidi walked over to some gourds and collected them whileAbdalalim kneeled down in front of me. Rahsidi then placed the gourds in between us with empty bowls and one bowl of water. He then held each gourd over each bowl gently pouring different colored paints from each gourd into each bowl. When each bowl was filled he stepped behind Abdalalim who rested his staff behind the gourds and continued to stare at me as Rashidi placed both hands on his shoulders. For a few seconds there was nothing but the sound of the wind rustling the leaves before Rashidi closed his eyes as he began shaking making me begin to worry about him. It was then he opened his eyes to reveal they were now identical to Abdalalims eyes but before I could do anything he spoke in a voice that sounded like multiple people talking simultaneously and said.

"HICCUP HADDOCK THOUGH YOU MAY LEAVE AFRICA YOU SHALL CARRY THE SPIRIT OF IT WITH YOU!" Abdalalim dipped a finger into some yellow paint before using it to draw a single ring on each of my cheeks. "THIS IS THE LION, THE LANDS MOST FIERCE HUNTERS, MAY YOU POSSESS ITS SKILL ON THE HUNT!" Abdalalim washed the paint off his finger in a bowl of water before dipping them into a bowl of grey paint and then painted down the front of my nose. "THIS IS THE ELEPHANT, AFRICA'S GENTLE GIANT, MAY ITS STRENGTH FLOW THROUGH YOU IN TIMES OF NEED!" Abdalalim washed the paint off his finger in the same bowl of water before dipping two of them into A bowl orange paint and then running them up my forehead above each of my eyes in a curve. "THIS IS THE BUCK, THE LANDS MOST FEARFUL SPIRIT, MAY IT REMIND YOU THAT WHEN THINGS ARE TOO TOUGH AND YOU KNOW YOU CANNOT WIN THERE IS NO SHAME IN RETREATING TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY!" Abdalalim then did the same process and dipped his fingers in black paint this time and painted four lines to frame my face. "THIS IS THE GORILLA, A GENTLE BEAST OF THE JUNGLE WHO SHALL ONLY FIGHT TO PROTECT ITS FAMILY AND MAY YOU BE LIKE THE GORILLA AND ONLY FIGHT TO DEFEND THOSE IN NEED!" Abdalalim then did the same process of cleaning his fingers but this time instead of dipping his fingers in paint he dipped them in dirt and then rubbed it on my chin. "THIS REPRESENTS THE LAND AND OUR CONNECTION TO IT MAY IT ALWAYS BE WITH YOU!" Abdalalim then washed his fingers and then dipped his fingers into a red paint before drawing an eye on my forehead. "AND THIS IS YOU HICCUP, THE MOST POWERFUL SPIRIT IS YOUR OWN FOR IT IS THE ONE THAT CAN COMBINE ALL THE OTHERS INTO ONE MIGHTY FORCE!" Abdalalim then stood up but Rashidis hands never left his shoulders as Abdalalim gestured to the pit in the center of the tree. "SIT DOWN IN THE SANDS AND YOU MAY BEGIN THE JOURNEY!"

"Journey to where?"

"YOU SHALL KNOW SOON ENOUGH BUT KNOW THAT THIS IS A JOURNEY THAT YOU HAVE DONE IN THE OTHER LANDS YOU HAVE GONE TO!" I nodded and sat down in the dirt before Abdalalim picked up his staff taking a single gourd and opening up before pressing it to my lips and tilting it so the liquid flowed into my mouth. "DRINK THE LIQUID OF ELDERS AND GO TO THE HOME OF THOSE WHO WATCH OVER THE LAND AND THOSE WHO CALL IT THEIR HOME WHETHER THEY BE MAN OR BEAST!"

He then pulled the gourd away and gently pushed me back into the dirt with my club resting in my hands as sleep took over but as it did I could feel them covering my body in dirt but I couldn't move my body for some reason and then everything went black. When I opened my eyes again I was standing back in the savannah but it was different since the grass seemed to be made of gold that was blowing in a gentle breeze while the trees looked to be made out of bronze as the sun beat down on me. It was then the sound of something trotting behind me caught my attention and I turned to the source of the sound with my club raised see a single springbuck staring at me and lowered my club as I said.

"I'm guessing you're no ordinary springbuck." It just stared at me for a moment before it glowed light blue and transformed into a smiling man who looked exactly like Mosi except he was much older, had grey hair and was wearing a white and light-yellow loincloth that went over his right shoulder.

"You are a smart man Hiccup Haddock." I shrugged.

"No, I've just been on too many strange trips to know that when in a new place like this, things are never as they seem." He nodded. "Now could you tell me who you are and why you're here?"

"I am Abedi, father of Mosi and Kallan and I am here to both help guide you to the meeting and to thank you for helping make repairs to my mistake."

"Your mistake?" He looked down sadly.

"Kallan?" I knew that this meant he blamed himself for what his son did. "I was always so wrapped up in preparing Mosi to be chief and protect the tribe that I always brushed Kallan to the side onto someone else and didn't realize the pain I was causing him." I saw tears begin to form in his eyes. "If I did then perhaps I could've prevented him from going down the dark path he was on."

"The darkness that lead him onto his path was there when he was born, what you did only helped speed it up." He nodded.

"I just wanted to say thank you for protecting my tribe from the beasts and I am here to guide you to the meeting."

"What meeting are you talking about?" He smiled.

"You'll know soon enough but for now just come with me." I nodded before the grass towards the north parted revealing a path.

"Now that's handy."

We then began walking down the path as a gentle breeze continued to blow across the field making the grass move with it and giving the appearance of the ocean as the waves crashed onto the water. We walked for what felt like hours before we came to the entrance of a large cave, which looked to be made of lava rock that had been smoothed down and carved into a circular cave entrance. Abedi then turned to me and said.

"I shall be waiting here for your return." I nodded and turned towards the cave. "Don't worry, there's nothing for you to fear for those within only wish to talk about your deeds here in Africa."

I nodded before I made my way down into the cave but I kept my club at the ready knowing this could be a trap so I kept my guard up. As I made my way deeper into the cave the walls began to show paintings that were glowing in different colors but I could somehow, I knew it was the tale of how Africa came into existence. I stopped a few times to admire the beauty of the artwork but I never looked back to the entrance to leave and as I got deeper I heard the sound of waterfalls mixed with ceremonial drums. I continued to walk for what felt like miles before I came into a large open section of the caves glowing light blue, filled with crystal blue water that had the occasional rock sticking out of it, multiple small waterfalls in the walls feeding into the water and in the center was a large pit surrounded by short stone pillars with a path made of large flat stones leading to it. I knew the pit was where I had to go so I made my way down the path one step at a time keeping my guard up before I reached the end and looked down into the pit that looked to be so deep with the bottom being covered by mist made by the falls.

It was then the ground began to shake but I stood steady before I looked down into the pit as multiple long African masks with glowing light blue eye holes and symbols rose from the water below with the only difference being the patterns and symbols on the foreheads while water fell from their mouths like waterfalls. When their chins reached above the edge of the pit where they split up to face circle the pit and slowly began to move around circling the pit before one with a symbol of the sky stopped in front of me and floated forward while the others kept circling. It was then the water stopped coming from its mouth while the eyes glowed brighter and in a thundering voice that echoed through the cave said.

"Hello Hiccup Haddock."

"Hello, I'm guessing you're the African gods."

"Indeed, I am Olorun."

"The leader of the African gods and creator of the land."

"Correct to the first but wrong to the second for I am simply the planner as the true creator is my son Oduduwa who took the job over from my son Obatala." I nodded.

"May I ask why you've brought me here since I doubt it was just to talk?"

"We wanted to thank you for all you did since you came to this land from defeating Queen Shara and defeating the beasts sent by Kallan which included one of the grootslang that we have been hunting but has always been able to avoid our grasp."

"I was happy to help out the people of this land who needed my help."

"And like all your past services you shall not go unrewarded." The mask floated back and joined the others circling the pit before one more mask came out and took Oloruns place but this mask was different since one side was darker than the other and the patterns looked to be like wind and rain.

"I am the goddess Oya, goddess of storms and strong winds and the one who is chosen to bestow upon you your first gift." The water coming from her mouth glowed before it slowed down and began to float while spinning into a ball that floated towards me, then it opened up to reveal and African drum. "No living being can live without water for it is life and this drum shall allow you to summon this precious resource when needed." I nodded as the drum came to land next to me.

"Thank you Oya!" I bowed to her mask as it returned to the circle as another mask floated forward with this one made of metal and scratched up.

"I am the god Ogun, god of war and iron and I have watching your fights in this land Hiccup and I am impressed with your skills in battle and your ability to come up with such effective strategies on your fight." I nodded

"Thanks, but most of the time I was just trying to survive."

"Never the less it was still incredible for a human but I know things might've been easier for you if the club you were gifted with had some improvements." I felt my club be pulled out of my hand and into a ball of water that had formed from the water coming out of the mouth. "The powers I bestow upon this club are not something to take lightly Hiccup and I hope it shall serve you well in future battles." It was then the water collapsed leaving my club floating there before it returned to my hand but I focused on the masks as a third one floated forward with this one looking like a spider's web covering its forehead complete with a spider in the center.

"I am Anansi the spider, god of knowledge and stories." I smiled at the mask.

"I've heard a great deal about you Anansi, including how you were able to buy the stories of Nyan-Konpon."

"It is nice to hear my reputation is so well known but I am sure you have your own stories to tell."

"Indeed, I do Anansi which is why I always fear returning to Berk as the people always ask me to tell them the stories of my adventures and to put as much detail as I can into them which is always a pain." He chuckled.

"Then I believe you shall find this gift most effective in bringing an end to that problem." The water went through the same motions before falling to reveal a golden spider that floated towards me and landed in my prosthetic hand. "I have imbued that spider with the power of storytelling and with it comes the power of illusion, something I believe shall help you in dealing with your people and in combat if used correctly." I smiled down at the spider.

"I have the feeling I'm also going to be able to have some laughs with this power." Anansi just chuckled as he floated back while another mask with patterns that looked like the savannah and weapons came forward.

"I am Osoosi god of hunting and scouting and I've seen how you behave on the hunts and I am impressed by your skill and how you honor the code of the hunt."

"The code?"

"Take only what you need and nothing more to avoid upsetting the circle of life." I nodded.

"I don't like hurting animals when there's no need for it."

"Wise words Hiccup and I assume this is the reason you allowed the ninki nanka to roam free instead of ending its life."

"Yeah but I have to admit I would've liked to add it to my own collection of dragons."

"Then why didn't you?"

"It had been trapped and taken from its home by one human, I couldn't do the same thing to it when it's already been through so much so I thought best to let it go home."

"And what of the grootslang?"

"That beast was a threat to not only me and Kimoni but to all the people of the savannah since how dangerous its kind is."

"You did the right thing with both threats Hiccup and for both threats I have a single reward." The water went through the motions except this time it was two balls that formed with the first one on the left falling apart to reveal something curled up into a ball. "You may not have been able to get a ninki nanka but I'm hoping this dragon shall make it up to you." The small ball floated up to me showing it to be the size of my head and looked to be an orb of some sort that felt alive. "This orb holds an entirely new species of dragon like your sand phantom dragons given to you by the Egyptian gods and this species is known as the Savannah wing but what it's capable of you shall have to find out for yourself." The orb floated next to me. "Before the dragon can awaken however you must place the orb in a dead lead wood tree and leave it for two weeks and return before the suns first light shines upon it for that is when the Savannah wing shall awaken and it shall know you to be its master." I nodded as the water forming the second ball dropped revealing a coat with long sleeves, a long back and black in color. (AN: Picture a trench coat in form like the one Van helsing wears.) "This coat is made from the skin the grootslang you'd slain along the bones of its skeleton, it has been infused with multiple enchantments but the only enchantment I shall reveal is its ability to take other forms depending on the environment you're in but what the other enchantments do is something you shall need to find out on your own." I nodded as the coat floated down and folded up before placing itself on top of the drum while the dragon lowered itself to rest onto it as Osoosi floated back while the mask that was Olorun took his place.

"Now I give you the final gifts from us gods Hiccup." The water went through the same motions but when the water cleared it revealed what looked like a piece of diamond with a long piece sticking out of the top in the center. "A new section for your island which I'm sure you shall enjoy." I nodded as the piece came to land on the coat next to the savannah wing as all the masks stopped circling the pit and floated towards me before they circled around me as they all said.

"WE GIVE YOU OUR BLESSING!" The water from all of their mouths blasted at me forming a water cyclone around me before water flowed out of the walls and stabbed into me making me feel as if my body was being torn apart but as always as quickly as the pain came it vanished and my prosthetic now had a new marking on it before the masks floated back into place as Olorun said.

"With our blessing you shall be able to open a portal door anywhere in Africa and it shall help ward off some of the magical beings of weaker power." I nodded.

"Thank you to all of you who have bestowed this gift upon me."

"It is the least we can do after what you've done for our land Hiccup."

"So are you guys going to send me home now or is there more."

"There is more but that awaits you outside of our cave." I nodded and picked up the drum that held everything on top of it and made my way out to find Abedi waiting for me smiling but this time he was holding a basket with something wrapped in a blanket but before I could ask Abedi said.

"Hiccup the gods gave you their gifts for your services to the land but I have my own gift to offer you for protecting my tribe." He passed me the basket making the blanket shake a bit showing something inside was alive. "I spoke with the gods who allowed me back into the world of the living for one day to find you a gift and I found what is in this blanket, orphaned after its mother passed away." The blanket rustled again. "I hope it shall find a good home on your island and you shall raise it well." I nodded.

"I'll do everything I can and thank you." Despite not knowing what was in the blanket I was being honest when I said I'd do my best to raise the creature within it like I did all my animals.

"An old friend of yours has come show you the way back to your body." It was then a screech from above caught my attention and I looked up to see an eagle making me smile knowing this eagle was my spirit guide who I met on my trip to the land of the Indians but when I turned to look at Abedi all I saw was a springbuck that gave me a nod and then leapt away into the grass as I smiled.

"Good bye to you to Chief Abedi!"

With that said I followed the my guide down the path that formed with my drum holding my god given gifts in one hand and the basket with the wrapped bundle in the other. I followed the eagle for what felt like hours before we came to a circle of baobab trees where the eagle circled above the center showing it was where it was leading me. I walked into the center of the trees before they began glowing with a navy blue light as the ground behind me turned to quicksand pulling both the things I had and me into it. I struggled against it but no matter what I did I only sunk deeper until my entire head was pulled under and darkness filled my vision as I felt like I was being suffocated. For a few seconds this feeling enveloped me entirely with me being unable to move before I felt freedom to move again but I was lying down. Knowing this and realizing I could move again I threw myself up but screamed since my body was in a great deal of pain only to find when I opened my eyes I was sitting in the sand pit in Abdalalims cave again. I looked around in confusion until a hand landed on my left shoulder making me quickly turn only to be greeted by a smiling Rashidi who said.

"Welcome back!" I looked around in worry. "Don't worry, you're safe." I didn't see Abdalalim anywhere but before I could ask Rashidi answered. "I don't know where he is for when you entered the home of the gods and ancestors he disappeared but I stayed by your side the entire time." I nodded.

"Thank you my friend." I looked around at the other sand pits and saw the gifts I was given resting in them. "Think you can give me a hand carrying my gifts back to the village?" He smiled.

"Gladly but on the way I want to know what they are and what they do."

"As soon as I figure out that last bit myself I'll let you know." He chuckled before the blanket in the basket rustled again catching Rashidi's attention.

"What is in the basket?" I shrugged as I stood up while dusting off the sand.

"Not sure, Chief Abedi gave it to me to thank me for protecting the tribe but I haven't had the chance to see what's bundled up in the blanket." I walked over and gently moved the blanket only to find two little eyes surrounded by white fur staring back up at me before Rashidi said.

"A white lion cub, those are rarely if ever seen and are said to be a gift from the sun god himself." I nodded.

"Well I'll be sure to raise it with the utmost care but for now let's get back to the village." He nodded as I put my new coat in the basket with the cub followed by the new island piece and Savannah wing orb before I picked up the basket along with my club while Rashidi picked up my drum and golden spider and followed me out of the cave.

2 weeks later

It's been two weeks since I met the African gods who bestowed their blessing on me along with the gifts and in that time a lot has happened. To begin with I'd been trying out the gifts I got from the gods and I was most impressed with what they were capable of but I only started seeing what their abilities are after I examined their physical appearance. My club for example had gone from a simple wooden club to something much different with the ball becoming of the club becoming black metal with the engraving of the African symbol of the god Ogun while the staff had intricate engravings of different designs. Its abilities and powers however were incredibly powerful but I knew they would be incredibly helpful in future battles with the creatures I end up facing. To begin with its strike was incredibly powerful to the point that it would send a fully-grown elephant with a rhino tied to it flying as if they were simple pebbles being tossed to the side. Along with this if I slammed it into the ground a large boulder is tossed into the air and hovers for a few seconds before dropping to the ground. The few seconds it hovers is more than enough time for me to strike it with my club sending it flying as if it were launched by a catapult so all in all I knew this new club would come in handy.

The coat looked as if it was made of strong black leather with a nightfury engraved on the back but despite its normal appearance it was pretty powerful. To begin with its unbreakable to the point that I could dangle a rhino from it and it wouldn't even rip or break a single thread. It also comes in handy for concealing things since when I put it on over my spider pack, it completely covered it up and absorbed the dent it would form making it look like I didn't have my pack on and wasn't carrying anything. To add to this ability the legs of the pack and my wings could still be used since it was as if they phase through the back but with its ability to hide my spider pack it made it look like the legs were coming out of my back. Then there's the defensive parts of the coat such as wearing it was like wearing a suit of armor that was tougher than gronkle iron and that's saying something.

To begin with when I'm struck with a melee weapon I don't I feel anything or even get nudged forward by the blow with the only thing showing me I was struck is a small poke in the spot of the blow. When it came to ranged attacks like arrows being launched at me though, that was a much different outcome since the arrows would be pulled into the coat and then I could make them launch back out like a porcupine shoots its quills from any part of the coat. For example if the back was struck with multiple arrows I could then either launch them back through the back, swing my sleeves launching them from there or have them move into my sleeve and go into my hand. It didn't just work with arrows though since it also worked with small stones and darts but I was hoping to test it against other weapons like swords and axes.

Besides this I also learnt of some more helpful abilities that would come in handy for the different places I went to with different environments since like Osoosi said it could change form. For the hotter climates like deserts and for the more dense jungles it could turn into a vest making it cooler for me and avoiding it being caught on any plants like branches or logs. If I'm in a cooler climate with deep snow it wraps tightly around my body making it easier to move since I wouldn't have to drag it in the snow. I could switch the forms by placing my hand on a silver night fury pendant on the top and focusing on what I wanted. This pendant could also be used to close up my coat like a button but when it closed the entire coat closed but I felt there was more it could do and I'd yet to find out but that was part of the fun of these new gifts. There was one form that I didn't have to use the pendant to turn it into though was that of a simple jacket which took form whenever I mounted Toothless so I called it the riding form. The main form I plan to it in though was its original form, which I liked the most since it seemed to just feel right and after seeing my reflection I had to say that I looked good. While I'm here in Africa though I kept it in its vest form since it got pretty hot here in the savannah and I didn't like the back dragging through the grass. Either way I knew I'd be wearing it whenever I go out since strange things seem to happen to me and I often get pulled into life risking adventures.

There's also the drum which looked like a typical African drum made of wood but around the shell was beaded strings wrapped around it forming the pattern of crashing waves with rain and lightning coming down while the skin on top had a navy blue and yellow pattern that looked like a whirl pool. This drum had some abilities that could be both helpful but also dangerous depending on the situation it was used in. The ability it had was to bring rain when it's played and it works like this, when played holes open up in the shell before mist flows out and floats into the sky slowly swirling around until they become clouds which then pour rain onto the land until I stopped playing. There was a bit more to it though since the harder I played the harder it rained eventually turning into an all out storm and on the open ocean that could be dangerous.

The golden spider is something I didn't get much time to examine since when I picked it up it came to life and crawled into my prosthetic where the crystals are inserted but when it did I could feel its power flow into me and now it appears on the underside of the tree of life on top of my hand whenever I use its power. Like Anansi said the power it held was that of illusion so I could make illusions by focusing on what I wanted to form like a charging elephant or rhino. I could also use this power to effect thing so make them appear different like if I wanted to I could make a perfectly good hut look like it was burnt down or a waste land look like a lush meadow. This is something that I knew was going to save me a whole lot of migraines whenever I get back to the village from a new adventure since I could just turn the great hall into an illusion of my battles or the places I've been. I knew I could also use this power in battle to fool my enemies in some ways and possibly a few laughs back on Berk.

Then there's my new lion cub that I now knew to be a male lion and given the name 'Mfalme' meaning king since the lion is known to be the king of African beasts in the savannah. Rashidi checked him out and showed him to only be four weeks old meaning he only began walking on his own a week before he was given to me. To be orphaned at such a young age would've meant certain doom to the cub if he was left out in the wild but I'd make sure to raise him in a way that he'd have no trouble surviving on his own and finding a mate. In the meantime Mfalme had proven to be a curious little cub and would often wonder out of his basket and around the village until I built him a little pen to keep him from wondering off. Along with this the children loved to watch him wonder around the pen with me hopping into play with him from time to time in order for him to imprint on me as his parent and master.

As for the Savannah wing, I have yet to see it since the orb is still resting in a dead lead wood tree a mile outside the village but this brings us to where I am now which is standing in front of the tree in my coat, waiting for something to happen. I knew it would still be a few minutes since it was still early in the morning and the sun had yet to rise but I didn't want to miss what was going to happen when the light of the sun awakened the Savannah wing. It was then the sun began to rise shedding its bright orange light onto the land as I watched it crawl across the land towards the tree and me as I kept my eyes on the light coming across savannah.

It was at that moment that the suns light shone on the base of the tree before surprisingly the cracks in the tree began to shine with the same light as the orb. The cracks glowed brighter as the suns light continued to spread over the tree with the cracks it shined on shining bright as the first cracks until the suns light shone completely on the dead tree in which the orb rested. The cracks glowed brightly before the tree actually began to crack as it bent over while the branches moved themselves altering the form of the dead tree. Once it stopped altering its shape it looked like a skeleton of some kind before dark yellowish green roots burst from the branches and wrapped around the branches and fusing together forming a skin of some sort. I watched as the roots slowly continued to do this until they formed a creature that I recognized as some sort of dragon that I knew to be the savannah wing. It looked pretty fierce but then again so did a lot of dragons that were actually quite gentle unless provoked.

From head to tail I'd say its length was about ten feet long with a Wingspan of about twelve feet from wingtip to wingtip with small talons on the tops while the legs on it are about three feet long. It's eyes were a whitish yellow with a frill like that of a frill necked lizard that had a unique whitish yellow spotted pattern similar to that of a salamander along with the eye pattern of a peacock on that was also on the end of the tail. Right underneath its wing are a small set of fins has a maw that looked like a beak and his tail had four fins that were spiked on the end. (AN: If you're having trouble picturing it, don't worry I'm going to post the picture where I got the idea on my pinterest page where I post his weapons.)

It was then the savannah wing looked at me with those small eyes staring at me for a few seconds before it approached me but I kept my guard up until it let out what sounded like a birdcall and bowed to me. I smiled and slowly walked up to him and placed my hand on its head as its frill folded back allowing me to pet it making it trill in pleasure and I knew it was already trained. It was like Osoosi said, when it first awakens it would know me to be its master but to be honest I was hoping to also be its friend. I gently scratched its head behind the frill feeling its scales go from rough like bark to something a smoother which I made a mental note of. I gently continued to scratch him before I said.

"Let's head back to the village, I'm sure everyone will love to see you since we've all wondered what you'd be like when you were awoken." It just thrilled and we began walking towards the village.

One week later

It's been a week since my savannah wing was formed and that week has been filled with non-stop tests to see what his abilities were after I gave him the name Davu meaning the beginning since he was beginning of a new dragon race. To begin with he didn't have normal fire blast since the flames he breathed were bright yellow in color but they didn't set anything on fire but melted them as if it were some kind of acid. Along with this he also had a powerful breath attack type, which was almost invisible in color and the only thing I could see was it moving through the air and like the attack of a flightmare it paralyzed what it touched but unlike the flightmare the effects last at least an hour. He also has two hidden fangs on top of his mouth that can retract like Toothless's teeth but when released they were like those of a cobra and the venom was lethal. All his lethal capabilities weren't in his mouth though since his wings were like that of a timberjack and can cut through wood like a hot knife through butter but so far only used it to cut savannah grass which he used to make his nest.

Other than these attacks he could also let loose a scent from small glands at the bottom of his frills that lure prey in for the kill. When he has the prey he then does some dance similar to a bird while using the patterns on his frills and his eyes to temporarily hypnotize them as he releases his paralyzing blast so he can go in for the kill. Of course the hypnosis takes a few seconds so the prey could get away but it didn't matter since along with these abilities he could also camouflage himself by standing on his hind legs and wrapping his wings in on himself and like a hobblegrunt changing the color of his scales to bark brown giving him the appearance of a dead lead wood tree. Along with this he can also burrow into the ground like a whispering death so he could get the drop on prey from below and catch them by surprise. Other than attracting prey he could also ward off enemies by letting out this roar that sounded like moaning and groaning mixed with a birdcall, which actually succeeded in sending shivers up my spine when I first heard it. I also learnt he could use his tail to wrap around tree branches if necessary but he has to close his tail fins to use it. With all of these capabilities I knew he'd be especially handy when going up against enemies but above all made him a more than capable hunter so I was more than likely going to use him on hunting trips.

Besides that I'd mostly just been practicing with my golden spider and its illusion powers gaining so much experience to the point that I have improved to the point that I had no trouble making an illusion of my battle with the grootslang. I knew that in the future it would come in handy for answering the questions and showing everyone what happened to me on my latest adventures. I'd also been practicing some more with my earth club as I'd named it and playing with Mfalme but other than that things have been pretty peaceful which is a good way for me to end my little African vacation.

Now I was wearing my grootslang coat in its normal form, over my sailing armor while I was standing by one of the few rivers that lead to the ocean without obstacles such as waterfalls or shallow waters to trap my ship. Toothless was on my right side, Davu on my left, my ship behind me on the waters with Mfalme on the ship sleeping in his basket while the tribe stood before me with Mosi and Rashidi at the front. I smiled sadly at them as I said.

"Although I couldn't exactly call this a relaxing trip I will miss this place and you all." Mosi smiled.

"The feeling is mutual my friend but I hope the next time you come, we're not under the threat of any strange mystical creature of the savannah." We both chuckled. "Before you leave us however we do have some parting gifts to thank you for all you've done for us." Before he could reply a woman stepped forward holding a spear and shield. "To begin with a shield and spear blessed by Rashidi, may they serve you well." She handed them to me as I nodded in thanks before Mosi stepped forward holding a long faced mask with slits for eyes and jagged teeth.

"A ceremonial mask for your collections back home." He put it on top of my new shield and spear followed by some bags. "These bags contain the seeds of the herbs I use to create in my healing pastes and mixtures." I smiled knowing these plants would make great additions to my herb gardens and I nodded.

"Thank you to all of you for this and for everything." They smiled as Mosi said.

"It is the least we can do for all you've done for our land by freeing it from the evils you faced." I nodded. "Till next we meet my friend." I nodded.

"Till next we meet." With that said I boarded my ship with my dragons and we took off down the river.

AN: I know it's earlier than usual but no, this is not going to be a normal thing as the only reason this one is out early is because I had some parts done which were originally done for other chapters but I felt they'd be better here. Anyway if you have any thoughts on other powers the coat can have then let me know since it will have other powers that shall be introduced in the next chapter when Hiccup gets back to Berk. Also if there's anything you want to see on Berk adventures let me know but keep in mind Hiccup's not getting any younger siblings. The reason is Stoick and Valka are in their fifties so any child they have would more than likely result in a miscarriage or disability so no younger siblings. Anyway I hope you're all staying safe during these times, have a nice day and remember to review kindly.
